It is not too late. If anything, we are doing it right now, actively, as we live and breathe.
Please be aware, posting online is now a threat to the government, apparently. White allies (myself included) should see this as an opportunity to listen to our friends from all walks of life and speak to what they want to say but can't. These idiotic moves are only to sow further fear - but unless they're gonna sue all of us, we have the power here. They're afraid of you being informed. Of being educated. The government is actively punishing free speech in almost any way you can think of, especially towards anti-genocide sentiments. A lot of people with much smarter takes have said this already.
Something I've been doing personally is learning about WW2. I was never good at US history, I hated the stuff. As an adult, I know I do love history because of what it can tell us. Resources dispersed during that time can help us know how to act in our modern day.
I recently read about a pamphlet given out to civilizations under Nazi occupation that directly came from the US. You can find it on most ebook/book retailers tbh, but it's posted officially on the CIA web page if you'd like. It's called the Simple Sabotage Field Guide by The Office of Strategic Services. I think it was circulating on Tumblr for a moment? Either way, this is a great example of what to be looking for as you move forward. We live inside a growing danger, a hostile weaponization of the internet to its fullest capacity. Safeguarding and learning knowledge on WW2, the Black Panthers, the Garden of Versailles, the history of the Israel occupation of Gaza as it dates back to 1967, all of this is so extremely important to our very near future. To fully understand the breadth of how much energy we'll need to put into these next few years, we need to understand history. Some of these people (Musk and Trump both) are following patterns from historical figures they don't even know they're emulating. We need that leverage.
I know so many people have said all of what I just said and more, but will one more voice hurt?
Consider listening to Behind the Bastards / Too Many Tabs. Both are podcasts that truly are worth the listen, if only for their wealth of knowledge on bad people.

I was kinda curt in this and my life update felt brief (if not completely unseen), but I'm still taking a hiatus.
Im working on building a few interview-style posts for tumblr and my website, and I eventually want to get back to drawing. I think writing and drawing are the two things in my life that bring me joy consistently, instead of being passing phases i revisit (guitar, I will learn you someday....) and im really excited to introduce you to the people I've been talking to lately!
Ever since the election, I've kinda been... hiding? My transition has completely stalled and even regressed in some areas because of the... well, everything. I don't want to describe it too much because it really does sound like im giving up when im not. I just need to survive, for now. And this is sadly how I can do that. BUT all that means that I am REALLY depressed, with no therapist, and actively fighting the internalized hate I have against myself that has been doing nothing but growing since I was 14. So.... a hiatus sounded like the best option, instead of pushing myself in to further and further burnout.
I hope all my friends are doing well. I hope everyone is finding community in these dire times and spending time well with people who see you, understand you, and nuture you.
I've been kinda taking an unspoken hiatus. Still gonna keep taking it. Hopefully will be more free in my Brain for talking and posting soon.

My wife brought up a good point - the price increase is likely due to tariffs! The Japanese model (which is region locked to prevent scalpers/exporters) is priced at about $340, which seems way more reasonable (about 50ish USD cheaper than a base model SteamDeck)
While I do think Nintendo has a bad strategy towards its consumers (the controllers are stupidly priced even with tariffs in mind but they've been like that since Switch 1), I think the console pricing itself isn't COMPLETELY to be blamed on them. It is, truly, partially the fault of the USA.
You have got to be FUCKING kidding me!! Holyshit bro... these motherfuckers are too comfortable with price increases...

Hi! I was on your website and look at the fun part and saw the Your World Of Text link, and clicked on it but it was flagged by my browser for suspected phishing. I wanted to ask if your website is still up-to-date, and if the Your World Of Text thing was just a false alert?
Also I don't know if this would go in the fun things section but have you checked out slowroads.io? It's kind of awesome
I just went and checked - Cloudflare marked it because people would post phone numbers and then use those numbers to launch phishing/scam attacks. The site itself seems fine still, just don't share personal information, since the site is 100% unmonitored/uncensored so bad actors are in play as always. I think I'll remove it from the website for now, simply from a different safety standpoint (I was hoping the site had some basic moderation but they do Not).
slowroads seems cute! I may add it to the games tab on my website when I have a minute.

I've been kinda paralyzed lately after a lot of personal misfortune and The World Issues. Drew this while hanging out with my wife while she does homework.

Life update under the cut?
I haven't been working on things like i had planned, but I am working on a interview with someone who I've been featuring on my website. I'm excited to share it eventually once I get some answers and time <3 It's been fun
this is the first thing I've drawn in months. It's inspired by a hello kitty gacha game, which has been consuming my special interest slot since August (thank god cause i was in a deeper slump than i am now) keroppi my beloved...... I already liked hello kitty before this but now i am a die hard fan ngl.
I've been having car trouble nonstop for months now so financially i am In The Shitter. i would say i'm okay in other places but it's really not great all around. The only positive thing is my job.
Though my job is REALLY good. Like so good that it makes the rest not feel like the end of the world? I'm testing (and sometimes repairing) video game consoles for a living! I get to play Zuma sometimes when we're slow. This rules. all my coworkers are, politically and socially, aligned with me WHICH NEVER HAPPENS. I still think I'm the youngest of the group but it just seems to make me more Hip in their eyes? I'm not out to them right now, since I started during probably one of the more violent eras i've seen in my lifetime, but I think most everyone would be cool about it, which is also not usually the case.
I will eventually return for the digital literacy course -i just don't think I'm the greatest choice for creating it, I guess. But there's still a void in computer basics teachings that younger gens aren't getting, and no one is willing to make it. I also think I want to pivot some of my work to interviewing, writing, and cataloging things that i'm interested in. For example, the history behind ASCII groups in the beginnings of the internet, or the history of digital subscription gaming. I feel like more and more, we forget our roots and lose good things because of capital. We should remember and learn about the beginnings of web so that we can know what is being taken from us, whether that be affordable games or truly human website design or ad-free experiences because companies have other ways to make money.
Anyways im alive thank you for your time

I am betting you get this asked a lot, but where did you start in programming/hacking? I have always been curious what resources are good to start with, as I only know a bit of front and backend stuff.
this has some resources!

i think the near-extinction of people making fun, deep and/or unique interactive text-based browser games, projects and stories is catastrophic to the internet. i'm talking pre-itch.io era, nothing against it.
there are a lot of fun ones listed here and here but for the most part, they were made years ago and are now a dying breed. i get why. there's no money in it. factoring in the cost of web hosting and servers, it probably costs money. it's just sad that it's a dying art form.
anyway, here's some of my favorite browser-based interactive projects and games, if you're into that kind of thing. 90% of them are on the lists that i linked above.
A Better World - create an alternate history timeline
Alter Ego - abandonware birth-to-death life simulator game
Seedship - text-based game about colonizing a new planet
Sandboxels or ThisIsSand - free-falling sand physics games
Little Alchemy 2 - combine various elements to make new ones
Infinite Craft - kind of the same as Little Alchemy
ZenGM - simulate sports
Tamajoji - browser-based tamagotchi
IFDB - interactive fiction database (text adventure games)
Written Realms - more text adventure games with a user interface
The Cafe & Diner - mystery game
The New Campaign Trail - US presidential campaign game
Money Simulator - simulate financial decisions
Genesis - text-based adventure/fantasy game
Level 13 - text-based science fiction adventure game
Miniconomy - player driven economy game
Checkbox Olympics - games involving clicking checkboxes
BrantSteele.net - game show and Hunger Games simulators
Murder Games - fight to the death simulator by Orteil
Cookie Clicker - different but felt weird not including it. by Orteil.
if you're ever thinking about making a niche project that only a select number of individuals will be nerdy enough to enjoy, keep in mind i've been playing some of these games off and on for 20~ years (Alter Ego, for example). quite literally a lifetime of replayability.

just wanted to remind everyone again not only of the 3,000+ resources offered through our Liberation Library but also of the study guides for beginners offered under each of our social justice topics!
resources can be organized by type (article, novel, podcast, video, etc.) as well as filtered and searched through. we’ve tried to make our system much more accessible than our former platform on google docs so this is such an exciting development to share with everyone.
please share to promote equitable access education!

Outraged by the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, a wilderness survival trainer spent years undercover climbing the ranks of right-wing militias. He didn’t tell police or the FBI. He didn’t tell family or friends. The one person he told was a ProPublica reporter.
This is such a wild story like holy shit dude

Also I've said this before but advertising is an industry that should be considered as pointless and harmful as fossil fuels.

I finally went somewhere about my severe back pain. From what I can tell, I have a disc in my back (the one between my tailbone and spine) that's too Short, according to the x-rays. I'm bandaiding it with Diclofenac (stronger anti-inflammatory than ibuprofen, it's brand name is Volatren?) because the pain that im in is worse than anything I've personally felt before.
I'm out of insurance so I can't do anything for a few months. Just take pain meds and hope it doesn't get worse. But I need an MRI and physical therapy, then hopefully I will be okay
This new job is taking a lot out of me until we're settled in the new space in the next few weeks. Hopefully soon, I'll get website work time

I'm frustrated with trying to Google this so I'll just ask ppl here:
What do you eat for lunch when you're at work/school/other generic obligation?
I've been alternating through my options of prepackaged food because I don't have the time to make pre-made meals. I've had hot pockets, uncrustables, I've made sandwiches and homemade lunchables, I've had taquitos and those chicken sandwich pocket things. Frozen meals like Saffron Road used to be frequent but there isn't enough variety.
