Started watching the 2nd season hoping for a continuation of the previous storyline so my heart hasn't been in the current storyline.
I keep thinking of Layan, her shadow is there at the back of my mind as I watch these little girls chase after some fame. I keep seeing her in every character, in Tasneem's hautiness, in Nadeen's arrogance, in Hiba's snappy remarks.
I keep thinking about who to blame, who do I hold accountable for the loss of her life because no matter what she did, she was a child.
I look at Ms Abeer and I whisper, "you caused her death, look at you, you couldn't stop meddling" but then I see Ms Abeer care for these girls, for their future, for their character. I see a glimpse through Ms Abeer's lens and I see her trying to discipline these girls so they don't fall into chaos, so they don't make mistakes that will cost them a hefty orice. I see her concern and I see her anger and I know that she cares in her own way. How can I blame her for not knowing that her mistake would cost a life.
I turned to Maryam and I whisper, "you caused Layan's death, you wanted to destroy her," but then I look at Maryam's life and I truly look at her, a child, who was so deeply hurt by Layan. I remember the pain Maryam went through at Layan's hands, I remember the look she got from her own mother and I turn away. How can I blame Maryam for not knowing the cruel reality of this world. How can I blame her for not knowing that some people value their honour more than a human life.
I turn to Layan and I whisper, "Layan is it your fault that you died?" Then I look through her eyes at the life that she left behind. A young naive girl trapped in her life, her voice falls on deaf ears, desperate for some freedom she runs into the arms of the first man that offers her some kindness. She wasn't a perfect girl, sometimes she was a really bad girl, but she had her whole life ahead of her. Who knows what path she would have taken and now we will never know. I turn away from Layan, I cannot blame her no matter what she did, she did not deserve to loose her life.
I finally turn and I see it now, the hand that pulled the trigger infront of my eyes. You are the cause, you took Layan's life. No one else. It was not yours to take, you will pay the price. If not in this dunya then in the akhirah you will pay.

Caught on Camera - Shams x fem reader (Chapter 1)

----------------------------
In a time where social media were basically ruling the world, people thought of me as weird for avoiding them most of the time. It was not like I was completely against them. I just did not feel the need to post my life. Actually I thought that people who were posting their life were not content enough with it to just enjoy it. Instead they had to waste it on making everyone believe they were being as perfect as possible.
Nevertheless I came along with my classmates, even the most popular ones like Tasneem and Hiba. I was simply a private person. Therefore I was alone a lot of the time as well, sometimes hanging out with Nadeen.
I liked her attitude, standing up for herself and others, staying true to herself.
Although that was also what got me caught up in this mess of sitting outside in the burning sun to make a stand. The irony of it all was that Nadeen, Shams and I were the only ones outside at the end, though we did not care that much about our phones.
To be honest I did not really know what to think about Shams. On the one hand she seemed to be nice, offering us food and talking to us, and I was curious because I barely knew anything about her. On the other hand I did not like the fact that she was carrying around a camera all the time. It kinda made me feel watched. Like I had to be on guard to make sure she was not filming me.
“What are you up to today? Wanna hang out?”, Nadeen asked me when the school bell rang for the last time.
“Sure”, I agreed. “But please no more horror movies.”
“Why not? Your reactions are too good to miss out on”, she proclaimed with a chuckle.
“It's not my fault that I take movies too seriously. Of course the scary ones freak me out”, I justified myself.
“Though they're not even scary”, Nadeen shot back.
“How about you tell my dreams exactly that?”, I suggested, now laughing myself.
In the end she persuaded me to watch another one. I just could not say no to her when she offered to let me sleep over because that was always my condition for watching horror movies with her. It was hard to fall asleep if I was alone afterwards.
“What are you watching?”, I wondered when Nadeen was laughing about something on her phone.
“It's one of Sarah's videos. But this one is actually funny”, she enlightened me and rewound it to let me see the beginning as well.
It was about different types of girls at our school. She depicted me as the artsy fangirl which I could not deny. After all I was always scribbling away at some quick sketches or short stories about my favorite book and movie characters.
But when the video showed The Critic, which was obviously supposed to be Nadeen. Honestly I could not understand how Sarah could post something like that about Nadeen, considering they were friends.
The hurt was written all over Nadeen's face before she quickly hid it behind a nonchalant mask.
“It's blowing up”, I noticed.
Her views, likes and comments were basically exploding the more time passed. It was insane.
And on the next day Sarah moved on from invisible to absolute spotlight.
I tried to stay close to Nadeen as Sarah did not seem to take any interest in talking to her friend, now that she had other options. That was one of many reasons to hate social media. But never mind.
My eyes moved away from Sarah as I observed my environment. It was nothing unusual for me to do. From time to time it could be useful. That way I could stay out of the trouble and drama.
But this time I did not like what I saw.
Quickly I made my way over to Shams. “Were you just filming us?”, I accused her.
The others were too busy crowding Sarah to notice our discussion.
“Why does it matter?”, Shams remarked.
“I didn't allow you to film me”, I pointed out.
“So what? Everybody is running around filming nowadays. Why is it different when I do it with a real camera instead of a phone?”, she considered.
“I don't care about the kind of camera. Just delete it”, I requested.
“I'll cut you out of it if you stop bugging me. And don't chat it around. People behave differently when they're aware of being filmed.”
“Why should I do that? I don't owe you anything”, I declared.
“Look. Maybe you don't like what I'm doing, but I'm just expressing myself through art like you do”, she claimed.
“What are you talking about?”, I inquired.
“Your sketches and stories. I haven't read any of them, but it's obvious that you're passionate about them. So you should be able to see my point”, she resonated.
“You truly are a stalker”, I noted, taking a step closer to her.
Somehow this discussion had quickly become heated and despite my anger I had to admit that I was feeling a pull toward her.
“I'm a film maker. That's the point. By the way, you're the only one that cares. Everybody else is way too busy with their petty online lives and little drama. So can you just let it go? I promise to cut you out. It's for the sake of art”, she stated.
For a moment we were staring each other down, contemplating what to do next. And for some reason it became harder and harder to stay close. So I gave in.
“Fine, I grumbled and stormed off.

Next Chapter
i decided to make this one a fanfiction with rather short chapters, so you guys won't have to wait as long to read another one as I don't know how much time I'll have to write. Thanks to sunwoniie for requesting. I hope you all like the first chapter. Feel free to make suggestions about the next chapters. Maybe I'll integrate some aspects you want.

✅- Which character/plot point/etc would be your favorite to see on screen?
Character - It's a hard choice, but I'd go with Miron Petrescu, a doctor formerly employed by the totalitarian military regime. When he discovered his co-workers were conducting unethical experiments, he tried to expose them but was framed for their misdeeds. Condemned to death for the horrific acts blamed on him, he was rescued by the other protagonists and joined their resistance group. He comes off as very closed-off and pragmatic, acting calmly even when expressing strong emotion, but he does have strong ideals and cares about others - he's just not very expressive. He's Romanian, and his favourite hobby is woodcarving.
Plot point - Probably the inciting incident of the main storyline - Resistance leader Kendan Blake sacrifices himself in place of untrustworthy enemy defector Tasneem Devi, leading to a massive and permanent upheaval in the group's dynamic. I'd love to see the moment she realises what's going on, having fully intended to give her life for the people who will now blame her for his death... The scene immediately after where she returns to the escape pod alone and faces the rest of the team would also be amazing to see onscreen.
🎧 - What would the soundtrack be like?
The story spawned from fixing a plot point I disliked in Farscape, so maybe something similar to its sound? The world, however, is very different, and might actually be more suited to something like the Firefly or Minority Report soundtrack. I have to think about it more.

I know that my mother sacrificed so much for me to get where I am. I know that and I'm not discrediting that .it's just that I really don't know how to push through anymore? Am I being selfish? I don't know how to tell people that I don't want to live anymore . That life doesn't seem worth living anymore and tbh . I don't know how me living makes anyone's life easier. I don't know my purpose anymore . I feel like if tasneem was dead then people would be better off . One less person to feed, one less person to listen to , one less person to worry about , one less person to consider, one less person on this over populated earth...
I think that I got to this point because I was taught to just push through. To kap aan and not om . To just we move.

Artist Research:
Yannis Davy Guibinga:
Yannis Davy Guibinga is an artist whose work primarily focuses on the identity and culture of the African Continent. "His portrait photography is a documentation of a new generation of Africans, unapologetically embracing their many identities and cultures in the face of globalization and Western cultural imperialism." (https://www.yannisdavy.com/about) I am drawn to Yannis' work due to the bright colours and unique backgrounds he creates within his works. The movement, shadows, lighting, and overall vibrancy of his portraits make it impossible for you to look away which connects the viewer with the culture within the portraits, but also with the artwork itself. I love how even with all the noise and vibrancy in the backgrounds, the people in the portraits are still positioned as the main focus of the photos. This makes me feel inspired to experiment with lighting and possibly even with interesting backdrops to create vibrant and eye-catching works.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carrie Mae Weems:
Carrie Mae Weems' "The Kitchen Table Series" from 1990 is a collection of photographs all set at the same Kitchen Table. I love how with each photograph the camera is in the same setting, but in a slightly different position. It feels as if when the camera moves a new perspective at the Kitchen Table is shown to us. The photos almost feel like performance art to me with the amount of emotion and expression shown in each portrait. The central overhead light being the main light source in the image creates incredible lighting within the photos, as due to the images being in black and white, the shadows and light areas are highlighted which allows for depth and amplifies the expressions on the people's faces. This kind of storytelling within portrait photography is interesting to me as it allows for so much discussion of the artworks themselves. I would love to eventually be able to create a story throughout my own work someday, this artwork is a great inspiration. My favourite portrait from this series is the one where the people are all laughing at something, and one woman's laughing so hard shes creates movement within the photograph. This movement really emphasises the enjoyment being expressed within the portrait.
Tumblr media
Tasneem Alsultan:
Tasneem Alsultan is an American Saudi Arabian photographer whose portraits capture normal daily life moments of people, typically Saudi people, to challenge stereotypes placed upon them. I love how in each photograph Alsultan captures the personality of the subject through use of background and composition. I think that by having people be photographed in areas like the beach, gardens, their homes, etc, can really add to the image compared to a single plain backdrop. For Alsultan's aim of challenging stereotypes, having people in these natural backgrounds really amplifies this as it exhibits the humanity of these people. These images are very beautiful, and I'd like to try taking photographs in more fun backgrounds compared to plain backdrops.

Jumu'ah Sohbet: 6 October 2023
My 40th birthday insights were magnified with both Shaykh Taner's third person perspective of myself, and through my other half who is actually my better half, who manages to shut down my ever prevalent nafs (ego / lower-self) with his goofy compassion and wisdom - your Abbu. Shukran Ya Allah (Divine gratitude) for connecting deepest to You, through two invaluable mediums, and please bless them both!
We pray that you kids are blessed with both too; deep spiritual insights and future unions in marriage that enable you to unify your body, mind, and soul dedicated to learning and serving Allah insha'Allah, in this world! Bismillah...
#1. In our local Jumu'ah Sohbet Shaykh Nishaat reminded us that we are in the blessed month of Rabi ul-Awal (the holiest Islamic month which saw the birth of our Prophet Muhammad SAW) and we have been celebrating Mawlid un-Nabi (birthday of the Prophet SAW) 💚 These are all sources of remembrance where Allah speaks of Zikrullahi Akbar (Zikr of Allah is the greatest), and there are other forms of reminders too.
But what are we remembering, he provoked? When we speak about Sufism, what do we know and experience? There must be meaning in everything that we do! In our ilahi group (our "spiritual band"), I referred to this meaning that we gain, in my birthday gratitude message:
I almost missed this! Thank you all for enjoying my zany participation, as I am slowly regaining the function of my vocal chords. I simply love our meaningful praise of Huu 💓 Virtual group hugs!
@⁨Hazmat⁩ @⁨Nargis New⁩ @⁨Tasneem Hoosenmia⁩ @⁨Gussein⁩ @⁨Abi⁩ @⁨Lea Gassab⁩ @⁨Zaffreen⁩ @⁨~Muhammed Ghoor⁩ @⁨Zoulikha⁩ @⁨Aunty Rehana⁩ Poupou @⁨Mariam Goolamhoosen⁩ and @Shameem Goolamhoosen
#2. Shaykh Mohammad of Mexico again had us spellbound on a Saturday Sohbet, particularly when he asked who created this world? Of course everything comes from Allah, but what we see in this world is the creation of the minds and egos of people in the lower level of their development. The superficial world is created by the minds of mankind but underneath that is the reality of Allah, and the soul is the reality of us which is pushing us to search for the truth. The only reason that we are in this body and world, is to see the Divine force and recognise our relationship with it.
Once the soul is exposed by the reduction of the ego, Allah through the worldly manifestation, begins to teach and stimulates the soul's development. The soul is therefore being developed by Allah, but there is something reciprocal going on, where the soul, brain, and physical body and its consciousness increase its desire to work against the ego. It instigates a virtual cycle because the soul is not material, where it cannot work in this world, but it needs the body. Allah sent us to this world to struggle through all of these difficulties here, but the soul needs the body to do the physical work of spiritual practices. We don't really want to, but we are made to do it.
#3. A personally lived haq (truth) was then described by him, about my life as an accident survivor. What is the difference between free will and decree where everything is written, queried Shaykh Mohammad? Allah in the processs is allowing us to enact our free will where we're put in situations continually, or we are removed and placed in other situations where we have to deal with the change. Allah is moving us where we have to make a choice between Allah and the nafs.
In a Hadith Qudsi, Allah says that my servant doesn't cease to grow closer to me in good deeds and service, and when I love him, I become the ears with which he listens, the eyes with which he sees, the tongue with which he speaks and the hands with which he grabs. So worshipping Allah in formal religions are basically rituals and acts of worship. However, that is not complete worship because true worship means harmonising with Allah's laws and His love where it is not an emotion but a vibration / frequency. It is a frequency through which Allah travels and guides us.
Worshipping and loving Allah is uniting with the reality of existence, of our innate reality of our fitrah. It is a reciprocal relationship between us and Allah as we move closer to Him. Allah puts us in positions where we have to react. What is important is how we react to what happens to us as a part of the process. We have to become aware of the process where we can't just remain ignorant of it. We have to observe constantly what is going on and observe ourselves. In the Qur'an, Allah says that He doesn't help anyone until they help themselves. And only then, He says that if you take one step towards Him, He takes ten steps towards you! If you walk towards Him, He runs towards you!
Tumblr media
This is a reciprocity in our lives where we are associates of Allah, where we work with Allah! He puts us in positions where we have to react correctly. We have to observe ourselves, where we live in the third person. This means we are watching ourselves as separate beings from our bodies and minds. We have to know the enemy, which is, of course, our nafs at its lowest level! We can only do that by continually observing our reactions to everything around us.
#4. What also resonated with Shaykh Mohammad's Sohbet is how we both dawdled to become mureeds (followers) of Shaykh Taner, and he predicted that we would be his students at the outset of meeting us both! Shaykh Mohammad abashedly related:
... I went to a Masjid close to San Francisco, and an Imam introduced me to Sufi Shaykh Taner who lived 2 hours away! He would do Zikr on Friday nights, and I wasn't impressed, really...
... We had to return to the US from Mexico for legal proceedings, and I felt completely empty because just following religion didn't cut it! I met Shaykh Taner at the Pizzeria and I don't remember the details but I knew that he was my teacher immediately and he said that he was expecting me! I took bay'ah (a Sufi pledge of allegiance), and he said, "The rest is just life!" I was so disappointed because I was expecting steps and miracles. I ended up here where nobody is interested in what I am doing. Eventually, I was permitted to lead a cyber Tariqa where I dealt with the reality of the inner worlds of my Latin American students in a different way. I'm participating in and observing the lives of my students.
#5. I was royally surprised on my birthday where three lots of people of my heart congregated in one place, fittingly a Turkish precinct!
Tumblr media
This was my gratitude note:
... To the Sufi Retreat folks, thank you for bringing your invigorated souls to celebrate my birthday so soon after it. I am humbled!
To my high school besties, thank you for remaining so, 23 years down the line!
And to my past professional muse and present soul sister, whom we have only parted paths with now. You may have lost Sudan to dirty politics, but you have gained new families in us all!
All my love,
Tasmi / Tas @ 40
In conclusion, I was left with only gratitude and love for the Source of love:
Ya Shakur Ya Wadud

She told Saudi-American photographer Tasneem Alsultan: ‘Society constrains the definition of a divorcee. What you can or cannot do remains under the control of others. I have made peace with the sacrifices, but also managed to find happiness on my own.’ Alsultan updates Nassiba’s story. ‘She is in her second and happy marriage, and a mother of two sons, I am happy to have been able to document this transition in her life’

Expectations - Shams x fem reader (Chapter 2)
Tumblr media
Previous Chapter
warnings: emotional abuse
word count: 1.002
------------------
I could not believe the piece of paper that was laying in front of me. I had gotten a B in my Biology test. Yeah, pretty ironic. Not even an A-, but a B.
For a short moment I buried my face in my hands, trying to regain my composure. Dad was going to kill me.
After class I was supposed to be at rehearsal, but I needed a moment to calm down first. Without thinking twice about it, I walked to the old bus.
Shams was not here yet.
The longer I had to wait for her, the more I was freaking out. By the time she arrived I was already a mess, forcing myself not to cry.
“(f/n), what happened?”, Shams worried as soon as she noticed my disheveled state.
I moved a bit to give her the chance to sit down next to me.
“I got a B”, I uttered breathlessly.
“Shit”, she cursed. “Is your dad home today?”
“Unfortunately”, I enlightened her. “You know how he acts. What am I supposed to do?”
“We could switch tests”, she offered. “I actually rocked this one for once. You'd only have to change the name.”
“Nah, he would notice. But thanks. And congrats.” I shot her a small smile.
She reciprocated the smile, but it vanished just as quickly as mine.
“Last time I had an A-, he ripped me off all my privileges. I don't think I can take not seeing you for so long again. I mean we would still meet at school, but I always have to pretend here”, I recalled. “Talking about it, I need to go to rehearsal for Tasneem's show.”
Before I could go Shams pulled me into a kiss. Thanks to the dirty windows nobody could see us after all. Too bad that I usually had to spend the breaks with Tasneem and the others.
“I'm gonna text you later, if my dad doesn't confiscate my phone”, I promised. “So you'll most likely not hear from me.”
Leaving the bus I buried my feelings deep inside of me and put on a smile. Honestly I was sick of acting, but it was the only chance to keep the life I had. And some aspects of it were definitely worth fighting for.
To my own surprise rehearsal was actually cheering me up as it was distracting me, needing all my focus.
But as soon as the music died down it all came crushing down on me again.
During the last lessons my anxiety was only increasing.
When I left the classroom I did not dare to look over at Shams because I would not be able to uphold my cover then, my perfect facade.
Back at home I did not know if I should be relieved or not when I noticed that my dad was making a phone call.
I placed my test on the table, where I was sure he would see. Then I hurried upstairs before his phone call ended. I could not tell him myself and definitely did not want to be around for his first reaction.
In my room I let myself fall onto my bed and hid under the sheets to ease my nerves, texting Shams.
Unfortunately she was not answering. Probably she was not home yet. So I tried the same with Omar instead, not telling him I was upset though. I just wanted to stop focusing on my situation and it worked. Omar could always make me laugh in a heartbeat.
“What are you laughing about?”, my dad questioned harshly. “Do you seriously think there's anything to laugh about?”
He ripped the blanket off of me.
I could not meet his eyes, but knew better than to stay on my bed. So I stood up in front of him.
“Is there anything you want to tell me about this?”, he inquired, pushing my test in my face.
I shook my head no.
“What's gotten into you? I thought we had an agreement”, he ranted.
“I'm sorry, dad”, I proclaimed. “I didn't mean to disappoint you again.”
“Disappoint me? This isn't even disappointing anymore. This is a disgrace! From now on I'm going to set some new rules”, he declared. “First of all give me your phone.”
I was smarter than to deny him. I handed my phone over without any resistance.
“Second rule: You come home immediately after school. No going over to Omar, no hanging out with any classmates, got it?”
Tears were pricking at my eyes at this rule. Nevertheless I nodded.
“Third rule: You're getting a tutor who's going to work with you after school until you go to bed. Nothing else but studying. Understood?”
I nodded once again.
“Use your words”, he demanded.
“Yes, I understand, dad”, I stated.
“You know what?”, he proposed, staring me right in the eyes. “Right now I'm glad your mom doesn't live to see you like this.”
With those words he turned around and left.
It felt like something was clawing at my chest, ripping me apart while taking my ability to breathe. I was not even sure what exactly I was feeling, only that it was unbearable.
My hand moved on its own, picking up the picture that was set up on my nightstand. A picture of my mom when she had been pregnant with me. A picture of the time she had still been alive and full of hope. A picture before my birth that had killed her.
It was strange to yearn for a person you did not know.
The picture in front of me appeared blurry as my tears were finally falling freely.
After crying and stressing out so much I was feeling utterly exhausted. I did not have the energy to pull me into my bed and instead just fell asleep on the ground, hoping that it had all just been a cruel nightmare.

Stop ignoring me Chapter 1 - Hiba x fem reader
Tumblr media
Requested? No
Summary:Every since Hiba started hanging out with Tasneem (f/n) was nothing to her. It's like she never seen you in her life. Will (f/n) be able to bring Hiba back?
Authers note: This has nothing to do with real life! This is all from my pure imagination. If you want to read more of my storys go to my Masterlist to see more of Alrawabi school for girls.

Tumblr media
It was like any other day but different. Since Hiba is one of the most popular girls in school every thing change. I'm not confident like I used to be. I don't have anyone to stand up to me. I started to skip school not because
I wanted too but I was forced. I used to live with Hiba but she doesn't pay attention to me anymore. She didn't even care when i moved back home which I regret. I live with my mom the reason I moved out because of my mom I couldn't take it anymore. Hiba used calm me down when ever i get a bad grade and have to face my mom. But my mother knows better then taking back to Hiba but since Hiba is not here things changed.
"Hey, (f/n)" My friend smiled at me in the bus. I sat beside her and chatted with her a bit." Oh yeah, I don't see you hangout with hiba anymore. Is everything ok?" She wondered. "Yeah everything's ok she has just been busy recently" I responded with a small smile. The moment we arrived I got of the bus and went to my classroom, Just to see Hiba giggling and laughing with Tasneem. I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous but I had nothing to say I just went pass them and sat at my seat it hurts more because Hiba's seat was right beside me. But I couldn't take it anymore. I got up and grabbed Hiba to the bathroom."Hey! What the hell!" Hiba shouted "what's wrong with you Honestly (f/n)!" . "When will you stop ignoring me?" I asked "it's none of your business" she responded "ever since you have been hanging out with Tasneem you changed. It's like I don't know you anymore. Why? Just why?". She didn't respond all she did was take out her phone and scroll on it."Hey! Hiba I'm talking to you don't ignore me" she sighed put her phone away. "So what? Huh it's none of your business. Can't I have some time for myself" she yelled back and walked away. I pulled her wrist and stopped her from leaving."please Hiba. Did I do something wrong?
