What’s a fic that you feel still sticks with you long after you read it?

oh shit this is so difficult to answer, we have so many incredible writers, and I've re read so many fics but I'm gonna try to keep the list short.

this ended up being longer than I intended so I'll keep it in a read more

ok the first one that came to mind was two hearts beat together by @melo-baby, she really made my dreams come true with the a walk to remember au, and it made me suffer but it was so dreamy at the same time that I still think about it to this day

I've talked an annoying amount of times about @tattoocowboi's the deepest of cover so I'm gonna pick a more recent one of hers, her nothing is u series, which is a nye au where they have sex the night they meet and it's hot as fuck, having sex at parties is their thing in these fics and we love that for them

this one's not finished yet, but I'm also loving lookin' at you got me thinkin' nonsense by @mycosmos-blog, i just love ash and lexis friendship here, and fezco being jealous thinking they're actually together it's both funny but tragic for him, I've wanted to read a lexi has a thing for her best friend's brother for a while now and this is just perfect for me!

now I'm getting into the mafia/arranged marriage aus bc I just can't have enough of them. first we have @myztify can't nobody love you (like I'm loving you), I love that she puts her own twist to it, and making this forbidden love between fexi while lexi is engaged to ash, I went insane reading this one.

then there's @luuver3 until forever falls apart, it's so sad that there's only two chapters left but at the same time I can't wait to know how it ends. I loved reading about their ups and downs in ther marriage and finding out that fez had feelings for her since she was working at the store was just perfeeeect

and @luminousqurl it's easy also makes go feral, especially the first chapter with lexi thinking fez could be having a mistress, but at the end he reassures her that he only wants her!!!!!

I know I'm missing a bunch of other incredible fics, just know I'm amazed by everyone's talent 💜💜

do I like them:

I didn’t really have an opinion on him throughout the series, then I read the Illustrated Guide and decided I liked him - if only for how he handled the Sam/Emily clusterfuck and REVIVED her after she was hurt. My dude is the same age as Jacob, probably 15y/o at the time, and he handled it like a bloody champ.

5 good qualities:

someone has to be Sam Uley’s best mate I guess lol

he entertains Embry's side bets

seemed a pretty decent Second to Sam before Jacob took over

best vision in the Pack

makes little Kim happy, probably

3 bad qualities:

Everything about that scene in Breaking Dawn when he tried to play peacemaker and said to Jacob that he’d “torn” their family apart after he defected gtfo

Pulled the guilt thing on Seth: “Sue asked me to tell you—no, to beg you—to come home. She’s brokenhearted, Seth. All alone. I don’t know how you and Leah can do this to her. Abandon her this way, when your dad just barely died—”

Here’s a lil’ known secret ‘bout being immortal no one wants to letchu in on: it don’t mean you ain’t gonna die, it just mean you ain’t gonna die from like, old age or a fuckin’ pneumonia or some shit. Gods bodies are still flesh and bone, still susceptible to gunshot wounds or a knife plunged into their heart, a pair of hands wrapped tightly ‘round their throats.

‘Swhy titles get inherited now and gifts granted the way they are. With too many dead gods at the hands of jealous mortals to keep things balanced the way it’s ‘spose to be, the Big Three decided centuries ago that a system was needed to keep all realms runnin’ smoothly. ‘Course they had some hiccups along the way, but nothin’ they ain’t ever been able to overcome.

‘Specially considering just how many Kings of the Underworld got murked for Fezco to be in the position he’s in. It’s kinda hard to ferry souls to the other side when one of them is the dude in charge, ya know?

“They’re saying it’s important Fez,” Faye insists in that dreamy way of hers.

He lets out a puff of smoke from the joint he’s smoking and shoots his assistant a withering look. “Them broads always be sayin’ it’s important. People fuckin’ die, it’s the name of the business, don’t know why they always tryna bother me ‘bout it.”

Faye hums as she starts inspectin’ her nails. “They like, said it was about some mortal dude and two goddesses if it makes it more interesting to you.”

It does.

“They give you names?”

Faye frowns at the missin’ gem from one of her acrylics, completely spaced out from their conversation.

“Faye. Who was it ‘bout?” He questions a little more forcefully, crushing his joint against the ceramic ashtray he keeps on his desk before folding his hands and looking up expectantly at the blonde who leans against the dark cherry finish.

“Oh… one of them was the current Demeter.”

Cassandra.

“And the other?”

Eris? Athena? Aphrodite? He knows Rue well enough - and known her long enough - to recall that them goddesses still run in the same circle, just like they did before they all were granted their gifts.

“Ion know. Some long-ass name that was weird.”

Fezco snorts. “They all got weird long-ass names Faye.”

“Ummm, Peresa-something.”

He startles, a bit alarmed. Alexandra? “Persephone? Her sister?”

Faye nods wide eyed. “Yeah. I remember something about sisters.”

Well fuck him.

Luckily the fates have always been a chatty group, more than happy to give Fezco all the information he needed. In two days time Cassandra - known as Demeter - was going to kill the mortal Nate Jacobs in revenge for his killing of her sister Alexandra- the current Persephone. The choices were clear, stand by and do nothin’ ‘bout it, or intervene on behalf of the rest of the Big Three and save a fellow god.

When it came down to it, it ain’t really a choice at all. He remembers her, Alexandra, from before. He sure as hell don’t remember everythin’ about life before becoming Hades, like what caused his fuckin’ scar or how he ended up with the job in the first place, but in the deep haze of memories that feel like they belong to someone else, Alexandra lingers.

A conversation shared on a couch as a party rages on.

The certainty that God didn’t exist- if only she knew.

Getting to the surface was smoother than expected, the veil between realms thin and easier to cross during an Equinox.

He finds her in the charred remains of her gardens, face filled with fury and rage rippling off her in waves as she berates an intoxicated Nate Jacobs for burning her sacred place to ashes.

She’s feral and gorgeous and any man who doesn’t fear her, long for her, is fuckin’ stupid.

But all he sees is death in Nate’s eyes, his own face turning purple from his rage as he bellows his threats, proclaims just exactly what he plans on doing to her body, all the ways he’s going to break her.

The fight pales out of Alexandra’s eyes and Fezco knows he needs to act now. Time to steal a Fuckin’ goddess.

“Yo,” he calls out, the path that leads him home opening up behind his back. “You gotta get outta here right the fuck now Alexandra.”

Two heads snap in his direction, one set of eyes looking murderous while the other regards him as a savior.

Alexandra’s crossing the husk of her garden before Nate has time to react, accepting the offered hand he holds out, gripping him like a lifeline. He offers her a smile to soothe her fears and helps her step over the lip of the ground that’s broken open to give them refuge.

“Who are you?” she asks quietly, just as the ground swallows them whole.

Fez chuckles lightly at her slight gasp over the sudden darkness, snaps his fingers that aren’t clutched in hers to light the path ahead. “I’m Hades. You Persephone right?”

She smiles shyly. “Yeah, but you can call me Lexi.”

“Lexi,” he sounds out, liking the way it slips off this tongue. “I like that, that’s a nice name.”

Lexi simply blushes a hundred shades of red, like she’s remembering some long ago conversation.

“Can call me Fezco, or Fez if you wanna. We bought to be real good friends Lexi.”

“Alright.”

“Welcome to the Underworld ma.”

15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you?

A few, lol. Neighbours Fexi, the first Fexi fic @idontneedtobeforgiven and I started together, canon divergent arranged marriage Alicent/Rhaenyra, and modern au divorced milfs moms whose kids get into a fight at school Alicent/Rhaenyra. Hopefully will have psychic Lexi done but... would need to buckle down and write that.

What’s a fic that you feel still sticks with you long after you read it?

to bring you home by @tattoocowboi was one of the first fics I read with having a tumblr and actually stayed up to date following along with each updates. It brought me so much comfort and fun at the time not to mention how beautifully it's written. Think about it a lot and waiting when I stop thinking about it so I can do a reread.

And I'll always be thinking about TASTE and scenes on a couch; or, the best orange juice in southern california as I've mentioned many times before

Ser Harwin’s eyes were content; blue and warm in his bearded face. It was so different from his family, or even Ser Criston, who didn’t have Ser Harrold’s whiskers. Aegon reached up to palm at his chin and wondered when he’d start feeling his own whiskers. He never considered family outside of his Targaryen blood, even as his mother dressed them in green, and spoke of how the Hightowers were an honorable family, important. They were connected with the Citadel and all the great knowledge. Daeron would even go there soon, to foster with their grandfather. Aemond was delirious with jealousy, wanting to study at the Citadel. Lord Lyonel had studied there before he took the Harrenhal lordship. 

Targaryens had dragons. What care was he meant to have for anyone else?

“Dragons burn, Aegon. They can't protect people like other people can. Sunfyre is wonderful, but he can’t storm into the Red Keep should someone come inside and hurt us.”

He recalled she gave him the same look Lord Lyonel sometimes gave; king or prince or lady. Patient consideration and each question given the proper due. The kind that didn’t make Aegon feel like a fool, the way Mother’s heavy sigh would press down on his shoulders like a dragon set to roost.

Sunfyre was the best, though, even if he couldn’t storm into the Red Keep saving them all. Where was his boy, anyway? His good boy. The one who loved him most.

“So that makes us family then,” Aegon stated, a frown pulling at him as he tried to get around it. Mother berated him about not picking on Aemond, and that he was supposed to defend their own to outsiders, but Jace and Luke were family. They shared blood. He shared blood with Abrogail, and kin with House Strong.

It made his head hurt, and he shut his eyes as the fire inside him swirled a little less harshly, but its pattern was foreign. Flames in a bonfire.

“My prince!”

Aegon snapped to standing as Ser Criston approached with a grim look on his face. His stomach swooped, thinking that this was it. This was the day the war his mother claimed would start. It was with a strange tilt of relief when his mother’s champion came to stand up to Ser Harwin. “Commander.”

Clipped tones. The vague derision that he held when he called the man ‘Breakbones’.

Aegon thought how gentle Ser Harwin had been at the sept, when his sister had run into his arms and clung to him. Trusting and without fear. Ser Criston said Breakbones as if Ser Harwin would snap someone with a single touch. Even if his seams were giving way, the large man had left him intact.

Ser Criston didn’t wait. “Are you well? I’ll not have you-”

“Pity then you are not my Queen mother or Kingly father, Ser Criston,” Aegon droned in his best impression of his uncle Daemon. He was not as tall as the Kingsguard, but it didn’t matter. He was the Prince. “Then you could have me do as you please.”

Aegon felt the grin spread over his features, dimples in his cheeks, his eyes crinkling, and with a slight bounce to his step, he whistled the new song the bards had sung the previous night.

He was done fighting monsters for the day.
