#draxum raises the turtles au#mcmt au#in all seriousness its not that uncommon for parents to teach at homeschool co-ops (which is sorta what i'm basing the yokai system on)#like i was never in one of my mom's classes but she frequently taught at the co-ops i was in#i think it was at least in part because they gave her discounts on class registration costs lol#also there's just something so funny to me about the idea of draxum assigning homework and grading papers#i think he'd genuinely enjoy giving lectures and stuff#bambi's rambling

Not me realizing how desparately I need to move out after the night my mother asked someone how her adult freedoms where going and then asked me when I said “what freedoms” she made it about me driving and not her being a literal tyrant
#like she refuses to teach me how to drive#i can’t pay for classes because she uses my bank as a second wallet#she refuses to listen to any advice I have#i cannot live like this another year but I have nowhere to go#she burned the bridge with my sister so I can’t move#like she fully isolated me#i have NO money to move and my job pays literal Pennie’s#even saving as much as I can my mom will joke about me ‘spending irresponsibly’ when I buy shit for myself#it’s not that she’s a bad mother#she’s a terrible person#and she makes everyone believe I want to be here with her and I have NOWHERE to go#I was going to apply to college after my name change after my car registration and after I lost a significant amount of weight#but I have to leave now or she’ll ruin the rest of my life#like I STAYED here to help her#i took out money to help HER move#i took on the responsibility of finding somewhere to rent and paid the down payment#i even handled her sons death#then she went on a tangent about Ramadan because I called her out last week for hating Muslims#and she ended it with ‘but I can’t fast anyway’ like.#i get she’s light skinned and enjoys feeling different but I’m very done and I have no where to go

I’m going to be honest, I’m gonna brag in the tags lol but I’m happy and want to share w someone :)
#my professor is known for being a tough grader but I’ve been doing really well in her class#and she sought me out to ask if I was interested in taking honors thesis early so I ofc said yes!#but during registration I noticed that the class was filled up b4 my time so I emailed her#she emailed back and said that she wouldn’t teach it again until after I graduate so she will personally speak to the registrar#so I got in! and I interpreted tht as her actively wanting to teach me which is helping me ego soar lol#she also said tht I may even be able to be one of her research assistants or go to a conference to present my work w her!#and she also said I might be able to get my thesis published so that’s sick#she’s the head of my major’s department and the head of the honors department so it really does mean a lot#about me

by the time I graduate I may as well have a second degree in flipping mind-reading.
#feels like nothing is moving forward at all in lab.#We got the equipment fixed which is awesome but now we’re having data analysis software issues#So preprocessing the data is fine but post processing isn’t#And we need a new research certificate thing which is awesome but talking to prof about it is like talking to a wall#So for now we literally can’t take in more data#I’d write it up myself and just ask her to sign off but her opinion of what we should do changes by the day#I’m talking “we should add X we should add Y” and it’s both incredibly unstructured and vague#And from what I can tell the new people in our group have skedaddled into busier projects or are thinking about doing so#Which is meh idk I get how this is frustrating and don’t really blame them#That’s also the other thing driving me up a wall.#How am I supposed to train them?!? Half of this is self explanatory. I can’t help them collect data if we can’t collect data.#I can’t teach them post processing if our post processing software’s dependent software’s license expired and I can’t use it.#Ffs one in particular doesn’t have a key. Even though I’ve mentioned it to prof. Repeatedly.#And it’s like I’m the only line of communication istg?!?#Prof is iffy on emails and uses Slack but a hyper specific college of X one not the general uni one#And the specific one requires onboarding/registration via freaking secretary to get to it#And since new people don’t have access to that I’m the damn messenger pigeon shot through the middle.#This prof is v important in her department#And the research is cool! It really is#But nothing’s moving unless I prod and prod and prod#at this point I’d take a micromanaging PI with insanely high work hours expectations if it meant CLEAR COMMUNICATION#and see I know how this goes. Both previous people working on the project left it unfinished. Some data collected nothing written up#Like a barebones ancestral protocol and that’s it#No data actually analyzed no background made nothing#And that was with a grant over 100k. I’m doing this unpaid.#The writing’s on the wall: publish and finish this or leave it to the next unsuspecting undergrad wanting research experience#Publishing isn’t really the main thing: the main idea is just to get it to a state of vague completion#And put the damn thing to rest. Otherwise it’s just a time sink.#anyways rant over#i’m exhausted

i'm so excited for course feedback to come out in a couple of weeks so i can tear my bio prof a new one (again)
