First stop. What does this blog offer us in relation to the teaching-learning of the English language?

I hope this blog manages to be an extension of the teaching-learning process, a place where students of any grade and teachers share experiences and relevant information about English, today, this medium will become a planet full of good energy and encouragement. for learning-teaching, making use of various strategies, digital tools, and teaching materials.

As far as I know the teaching-learning of the English language is very important since they help the process in education by strengthening their competencies and capacities.Moreover, today there are many techniques and technological tools where students can interact reaching have great potential in the foreign language reaching the final goal where they will realize their learning. On the whole I consider that as future language teachers we must be part of the progress of the development of learning and innovate communicative approaches in our students who are immersed in the management of ICTs.

The process of learning is a process where teachers interact whit their students, also teachers share their previous experiences about a relevant topic, while teaching is a process where teachers only transmit knowledge about a course, so the teaching-learning process is a set of steps systematized and its intention is the instruction theoretician - practical, the same thing that allows to human develops, improves habits, attitudes, and knowledge.

For me learning English is really important in my country, it might opens a lot of the doors in the environment working, because English is a language spoken around the world but if we see our reality the way of learning in our students we can realize that our student don’t take enough attention to English classes because they don’t like it or sometime they don’t understand and don’t catch their attention, I think if the teacher would do didactic classes our students would have more interest in English classes.

MEP practicum provides rewarding experience

Bloomsburg University’s Migrant Education Program practicum extends beyond the typical teaching experience.

“The environment of the summer MEP was always positive and promoted ongoing learning, not only for the students, but for the interns as well,” said Molly McCafferty ’18, a two-year MEP participant and recent education graduate. “The main goal of MEP is to ensure all migrant students achieve challenging academic standards and graduate with a high school diploma (or complete a GED, and upon graduation are prepared for responsible citizenship, further learning and productive employment.”

McCafferty initially got involved with the MEP through BU’s three-credit summer practicum program offered. This past summer, she returned as a hired educational assistant.

“My practicum and MEP employment were significant in my preparation as a future educator,” McCafferty said. “It provided me with professional experience and enhanced my own education. MEP afforded me the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors and even though the summer program has ended, my relationship with my mentors is ongoing.”

McCafferty is one of a handful of College of Education students granted the opportunity to participate in this program. Reina Alberto ’18, also spent two summers with the program. First with the practicum program and then as a hired aid. Being from the Hazleton area, Alberto has a special connection to this program.

“I have a lot of personal sympathy for some of these students,” Alberto said. “Some have families who work tremendous amount of hours to be able to provide for them. This program is a stepping-stone into bridging the foundation between school and home. The power this program has is really enriching for the Hazleton community and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

According to Caryn Terwilliger, MEP practicum coordinator, the month-long summer experience at Hazletown School District offers numerous learning experiences.

“Practicum participants are paired with a mentor teacher in their area of certification to enhance cultural competence through the teaching of formal lessons, attendance in professional development workshops emphasizing ESL strategies and practices and through collaboration with families and teachers to plan for student success,” said Terwilliger, professor of teaching and learning. “The practicum is open to all education majors who have been formally admitted into the program.”

Students interested would be required to travel to the Hazletown area Monday-Friday for five weeks out of the summer. The practicum exists with the support of the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit who provide educational aid to the eligible Migrant Education students residing in 27 counties in the region.

MEP Practicum PROFSTUD 312 (3 credits) June into July 

The summer practicum immerses BU teacher candidates in a month-long summer school experience for English language learners in the Hazleton OR Central Dauphin School Districts. Practicum participants choose either the Hazleton or Harrisburg setting. 

Practicum participants are paired with a mentor teacher in their area of certification to enhance cultural competence through the teaching of formal lessons, attendance in professional development workshops emphasizing ESL strategies and practices, and through collaboration with families and teachers to plan for student success. The MEP Practicum requires daily travel (Monday-Friday) to either Hazleton or Harrisburg for five weeks.

How ICT affects our daily lives?

Information and Communications Technology have a big factor in our daily lives. From communication, school works, transportation, entertainment to business, ICT makes our life easier. It helps us to be time efficient.

ICT helps me in my school works. As a student, using technology is very beneficial for me because it makes my work easier and faster. For example, I have to research about something. Instead of finding my answer on the books inside the library, I can find my on the internet with just one click. The use of ICT in education add value in teaching and learning, by enhancing the effectiveness of learning, or by adding a dimension to learning that was not previously available. ICT may also be a significant motivational factor in students’ learning, and can support students’ engagement with collaborative learning. But you have to be mindful on what you will search because some information are not reliable and accurate. ICT also helps the teachers on their presentations and lessons in class. The innovations that ICT has brought in teachinglearning process include: E-learning, e-communication, quick access to information, online student registration, online advertisement, reduced burden of keeping hardcopy, networking with resourceful persons, etc. However, the presence of all these factors increased the chance of excellent integration of ICT in teaching-learning process.

ICT helps me to communicate with my love ones. I am able to get connected with my family and friends even if they are miles away. My mother and my two brothers are working abroad. Through the help of ICT, I can talk to them. I can chat them from time to time. I can also have video call with them. ICT also helps me to get updated about the happenings of my friends. It can also help us to be entertained. Today, you can watch any event at any corner of the world as it is happening. Live events and real-time reporting are now possible thanks to the technological advancement in communication. With ICT, communication is fast, precise and well targeted. Without these, mass communication would not be as effective as the world knows it. It is technology that has opened up the world and made it easy for information to flow from one corner to the rest of the world. In fact, mass media would not be as we know it today without the help of ICT. It makes sure that communication achieves its intended objective of reaching the masses. Without technology, mass communication would not be able to achieve its goal.

ICT innovates the transportation. Electric Motorcycles, E-jeep and many more are the examples of how ICT innovates our transportation. You can now also book your GrabCar, GrabTaxi or GrabShare for a convinient ride. It is faster and hassle free. You can also use Beep card a card that is used for fare payments in any rail way stations. It is reloadable and it helps you to reduce time spent in ticket-buying lines. You can also use GPS or Global Positioning System to know about some places. A GPS receiver shows where it is. It may also show how fast it is moving, which direction it is going, how high it is, and maybe how fast it is going up or down. Many GPS receivers have information about places. GPSs for automobiles have travel data like road maps, hotels, restaurants, and service stations. GPSs for boats contain nautical charts of harbors, marines, shallow water, rocks, and waterways. Other GPS receivers are made for air navigation, hiking and backpacking, bicycling, or many other activities. The majority are in smartphones. Most GPS receivers can record where they have been, and help plan a journey. While traveling a planned journey, it predicts the time to the next destination.

ICT also have bad effects in our health like eye problem and lack of sleep. It also speads fake news. I can cause cyberbullying. We have to be mindful on what we share online.

The process of improving Uzbekistan higher education is based on the need to train a type of professional capable of responding to the demands of social demands with a solid theoretical and practical training. When a diagnosis was carried out in the faculty in technical direction, it was found that it presented difficulties in relation to the didactics of evaluation, together with the tendency to apply qualifying evaluation without taking sufficient account of training. A literature review was carried out with the aim of reflecting on how to apply it correctly in the teaching learning process. The aspects addressed show the agreement of numerous authors from different countries and theoretical approaches in the recognition and verification of their current problems, such as their conceptual and methodological reductionism, their subordination to needs and demands external to the pedagogical process, and their effects and consequences.
