Architecte, docteur en urbanisme (Institut d’Urbanisme de Paris), HDR en architecture et professeur d’architecture à l’école Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris-La-Villette. Il codirige avec Chris Younès et Stéphane Bonzani le GERPHAU (Groupe d’Etudes et de Recherches Philosophie, Architecture, Urbain, UMR 7218 LAVUE). Xavier Bonnaud est aussi architecte associé au sein de l’agence d’architecture et d’études urbaines MESOSTUDIO.

Ses recherches actuelles, à l’interface de l‘architecture et de la philosophie, tendent à mettre en évidence la place centrale que joue l’architecture (dans sa culture, la pensée qu’elle instaure et les innovations qu’elle propose) dans le paradigme environnemental qui se structure en ce début de XXI e siècle.
