Greatest in the Galaxy Part 1

“Welcome, one and all, to the seventh Greatest in the Galaxy competition where we, as the title suggests, determine which planet is the greatest in the galaxy! As always, we are displaying the action to you at home, live via our cam-bots! I am your AI announcer, M1-C! Call me Mic!”

“This sweep is a big one, folks! Not only do we have returning players, but brand new ones as well! With over 100 planets in the running, preliminaries are already underway, and only 5 can make it through!”

“Teams must make their way through the twisting labyrinth, while avoiding traps, pitfalls, furious beasts, and their opponents! First five teams to make it to one of the ten teleportation pads hidden within the labyrinth will be safely transported to our glorious stadium!”

“And what’s this? Only thirty minutes into the preliminaries and a team has already defeated the labyrinth! Let’s see who it is...”

“It’s team Irk! No surprise there- they have been the champs for the last six sweeps. Will they keep their streak going? Highly likely.”

“This sweep, the team is being led by the spawn of Tallest Red and Purple, heir to the Tallest throne, Prince Rory! With him is captain of the royal guards, Zinather, as well as Scout Captain Mixa, General Tav, and General Lakk. Some big names in this team, folks.”

“Switch to camera two to view an interview of the Irken team, or stick with your current view to wait for more teams.”

“Another team has defeated the labyrinth! Give it up for Planet Swif’el! Again, not a surprise. They have been the runner-up for the last three sweeps. The natural speed of the Swifs give them an edge against the Irkens’ technological prowess. Will their speed be enough to give them the win this year? I doubt it!”

“Captaining the team is Olap, who has been team captain for the last three sweeps. With him are other returning players, Agil, Sped, and Hastee. But they have a new player with them too- Nimbel!”

“Unfortunately, their interview will have to wait, as another team has reached the stadium! It’s...Planet Techon-3!”

“Our returning viewers will know Techon-3 is a relatively new contender, having first competed just last sweep but unfortunately took last place. Will they rise the ranks this sweep? Only one way to find out!”

“The same players have returned: Wirez is team captain, leading Piton, Bo-olts, Screwn, and Wrinch.”

“And our fourth team has arrived on the tails of the third! It’s Planet Mus’ular! Another usual contender, Mus’ular has been part of the competition for five sweeps, but has yet to make it past third place.”

“It’s a whole new team this sweep. We’ve got Bikeps as captain, with Peccs, Flexor, Deloid, and Glute!”

“Only one more team can make it into the competition, and so far, we have no new contenders! Who will reach the teleporters first?”

“Somebody has made it! And...it’s...Planet Earth!”

“Earth is a brand new team this sweep that not many have heard of...and by not many, I mean absolutely no one! But who doesn’t love an underdog team? And what a team it is!”

“Team Earth is being led by- and this is certainly a surprise, folks- an Irken! Invader Zim! And he’s not the only Irken on the team! One of the back-up members is another Irken named Tak! As for the main members, we have Dib Membrane, Gaz Membrane, Pepito Diablo, and Squee C!”

“Audience members never like newcomers, folks, especially nobodies, but Earth does not care! They are loving the attention, even if it’s negative! I have to admit, I am looking forward to seeing what this team has to bring!”

“And with that, the Greatest in the Galaxy competition begins!”

A week earlier

“Two months, Kio. Two months, and the team splits up.”

“The team isn’t splitting up, Zim,” Kio replied from Dib’s computer. “You’ll always be a team. You said so yourself.”

“I know, that’s not what I mean,” Zim said. He was sitting by himself at Dib’s computer desk in his room. “I mean physically split up. Gaz, Pepito, and Squee are all leaving. That only leaves Dib, Tak, and me at home base. And Dib is going to be busy with school stuff- he’s already busy preparing and it hasn’t even started yet.”

“You know they would drop everything to help you if you needed it.”

“Yes, yes, I know. But we said we have to make this summer a great one. How are we gonna do that?”

Kio rubbed her chin as she considered the question. “Well...you know the Greatest in the Galaxy competition?”

“Yes, of course,” Zim replied, “it happens every year on Planet Tourney. Irk has been the reigning champions since its conception. I admit, I had always wanted to compete for the glory of Irk.”

“You can still compete,” Kio pointed out, “not for Irk, of course, but for Earth.”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” he scoffed, “Tourney is in the Andromeda galaxy and the competition takes place a week from now. We’d never make it there and back in time for September.”

“Not by ship, no,” she agreed, “but what if I told you I have a teleporting device from the time Vort was contending?”

“No way!” Zim exclaimed.

Kio grinned. “I never competed- I wasn’t a fighter back then. But I never throw away devices. I can give it to you and you can use it to reach Tourney and enter the competition.”

Zim stared at her, baffled. “The greatest in the galaxy...” His face split into a huge smile. “Yes! I am calling everyone right now!”

Now

Zim, Dib, Gaz, Pepito, and Squee stand in the middle of a giant stadium, the stands packed with shouting aliens of all different races. Flying overhead is a huge projector device, displaying the stadium grounds in a crystal clear hologram for the audience. Announcer Mic’s voice can barely be heard over the cacophonous din.

On the ground are four other alien teams. Irk they immediately recognize, with Rory waving at them excitedly.

The Swifs of Planet Swif’el almost look like human-sized ferrets- long, furry bodies with a long, thin tail and six long limbs. They stand on the back four and seem to use the front two like arms. Their faces are triangular with cat-like ears, four eyes, and no noses. None of them are wearing clothes, except for some belts and wraps around their hands and/or feet.

The Techons of Techon-3 are short, like Irkens, and look kind of like the grey aliens as humans describe them. Their heads are very round with big, black eyes and no noses or ears. Their hands only have three fingers. They’re wearing black body suits, padded vests, and utility belts that have all kinds of gadgets hanging off them.

The Mus’ules of Mus’ular are giant, muscular, bipedal creatures. All of them tower over seven feet and have arms and thighs bigger than watermelons. Their bulging abs could grate cheese and their large hands could crush rocks. They’re all bald with three eyes and no nose or ears, and mouths that can’t seem to close over their big, square teeth. They’re not wearing any clothes, save for loincloths and some straps hanging off their chests, arms, and legs.

Buzzing around all of the teams are little, round robots with a lens, like sentient cameras. A couple get up close to the Battalion, zooming in on their faces.

“So, these things follow us around the whole time?” Squee asks, ducking away from one.

“Remember, this isn’t just a competition, it’s also a reality show,” Zim explains, “people from the contending planets want to see their teams not only compete, but also live. These cam-bots will be watching us even in our dorm.”

“Hate that,” Gaz grunts as she smacks a bot away.

“Everyone on Earth is able to watch, right?” Dib asks.

“Yes- well, only on Tak’s TV,” Zim replies.

Back on Earth, in Tak’s house, Johnny, Devi, Tenna, Colton, Maddie, Carmen, and Skoodge sit on the floor of the empty living room in front of the wide-screen TV. On screen, they can see an eagle view of the stadium, looking down at all the teams below.

“How do you change the view again?” Johnny asks as he stares bewildered at the remote.

“Give it to me,” Devi demands, swiping it from him. “You barely understand how to work a microwave.”

She presses a button and the view changes to close ups of the Irkens. She keeps going, flipping through all the teams, until she finds the kids. Squee watches the camera uncomfortably while Pepito and Dib pose beside him.

“There they are!” Tenna exclaims.

“So cool!” Colton cheers.

“I’m so glad they made it,” Maddie sighs.

“Yeah, they were really cutting it close,” Carmen agrees.

“They look like they’re having fun,” Skoodge smiles.

Back in the stadium, the audience is switching from cheering to booing as the hologram projector changes focus between the teams, ending with Earth.

“They don’t seem to like us,” Squee comments.

“That’s just because they don’t know us yet,” Dib replies.

“Any attention is good attention,” Pepito points out as he stretches out his arms and soaks in all the boos.

“Don’t worry,” Zim says, “once we start winning this thing, their opinions will change.” “Irk is definitely the favourite,” Gaz remarks as the view changes to team Irk and the audience erupts into cheers.

“That’s just because they don’t know them,” Dib replies drily.

“Speaking of Irk,” Pepito mutters as they notice Rory approaching them.

“I cannot believe you guys are here,” he says excitedly, “I heard a new planet, E-arth, was competing, but I didn’t think they meant Earth!”

“Up for a friendly competition, Prince?” Zim smirks.

“Always,” Rory smiles but then scowls. “Although, I don’t think it’s gonna be too friendly. You know you guys don’t have the best reputation on Irk. And...your spawner is here too.”

Zim glares past Rory at Zinather- his father- who glares back at him. “Yes...”

“Are the Tallest here?” Squee asks.

“Always,” Rory replies and nods to a sky box sitting high above the rest of the audience. They can’t see through the windows, but they can imagine the Tallest watching them from inside.

“Oh, I would give anything to know what their reaction to seeing us was,” Pepito chuckles.

“I doubt they’re happy,” Dib grins.

“I gotta say, I’m surprised they let you captain the team, Rory,” Squee remarks.

“Team captain is just an honorary thing, it doesn’t actually mean anything,” he replies, “although, it did take some convincing just to get on the team. But I am so glad I’m here. Something tells me, this is going to be the biggest competition yet.”

“Agreed,” Zim smirks, “don’t think we’ll go easy on you.”

“Same here,” Rory grins back. “May the greatest planet win.”

“We intend to.”

“Uh oh! Looks like there’s a rivalry boiling between Teams Irk and Earth already! We love to see it! Now, let’s all settle down so we can go over the rules for all the newcomers watching.”

The audience simmers down as everyone listens to Mic’s explanation.

“The competition is a five day event. Each day will have two contests- a game and a battle. Games are varied events in which players face off, without weapons or physical enhancements. Battles are exactly what they sound like- players fight against each other in an all-out free-for-all.”

“For each contest, a competitor from each team will be randomly chosen. First place will grant their team five points and, if applicable, second place gets three points. Whichever team has the most points at the end of the competition will be granted the trophy and title Greatest in the Galaxy!”

The audience erupts again into cheers.

“Now, let’s begin! Teams, move to your sky boxes!”

“We’re starting immediately after the preliminaries?” Squee asks as the teams leave the stadium grounds.

“The preliminaries couldn’t actually be seen by the audience or TV viewers,” Zim replies, “this is the main event.”

“Besides, that labyrinth was easy,” Pepito scoffs.

The Battalion moves through the inner halls of the stadium to their reserved sky box. Tak, Kio, Shmoopy, Gir, Minimoose, and Mimi are already there.

“Masta!” Gir shouts and hugs Zim’s head.

“Congratulations, guys!” Kio cheers, “you did great!”

“Barely,” Tak scoffs, “had I been there, we wouldn’t have finished last.”

“You know there can only be five main members, Tak,” Zim groans, “and you’re the late comer to the team, so you gotta be the back up member.”

“If I could switch with you, Tak, I would,” Squee sighs, “I hate competitions like this.”

Everyone steps out onto the balcony looking out over the stadium. Overhead, the hologram is projecting a list of different names of games and begins zooming through them.

“The first game shall be...Race for the Flag! Players will be teleported to Grounds B, an abandoned city. There they must find and capture a hidden flag. First player to grab the flag will get teleported back to the stadium and be awarded five points for their team! Now, let’s see who our lucky first players shall be.”

The list changes to five wheels, each one displaying the player names of each team. As they stop one by one, Mic announces it.

“It’s...Mixa of Irk. Nimbel of Swif’el. Screwn of Techon-3. Bikeps of Mus’ular. And...Squee of Earth!”

“What...” Squee croaks.

“Alright, Squee!” Dib exclaims.

“Show ‘em what you’re made of, babe!” Pepito cheers.

“I can’t go first!” Squee squeaks fearfully.

“You must,” Gaz points out, “the wheel has demanded it.”

“Don’t worry, Squee, you’ll do fine,” Zim insists, “it’s a race. That’s what you’re best at.”

“Just remember, you can’t use your knives or zoomy shoes,” Tak adds.

“No, no, no,” Squee mewls, “this is way too much pressure. I can’t go first. The first game determines how the rest of the competition will go. What if I lose? That won’t bode well. And everyone’s gonna be watching me and- oh man I’m starting to have a panic attack.”

His friends watch him worriedly as Tak sighs and snaps her fingers. “Mimi, tackle.”

Mimi tackles Squee, sending him flying off the balcony and onto the stadium grounds. He rolls as he hits the ground and lands on his feet, skidding to a stop right next to Bikeps.

“Whoa,” he squeaks as he looks up at the glaring giant.

“An energetic entrance from Squee of Earth! And with the arrival of the rest of the players, the first game can begin!”

A light envelops the five players and they’re teleported away to the first game of the competition.

iPhone XR không có 3D Touch, thay vào đó là Haptic touch mới với rung phản hồi giống taptic engine cũ. Tuy nhiên, chúng ta vẫn cần trên tay máy chính thức để cảm nhận rõ về cách thức hoạt động của nó.

iPhone XR cũng sẽ không có phiên bản 512GB bộ nhớ trong như bộ đôi XS, người dùng chỉ có 3 tuỳ chọn là 64GB, 128GB và 256GB.

Màn hình LCD với tai thỏ và “cằm”

iPhone XR là một chiếc iPhone màn hình LCD cho nên viền dưới của máy sẽ không thể uốn cong và đạt được độ mỏng như iPhone X hay bộ đôi XS. Vì vậy, XR vẫn sẽ có 1 cái “cằm” bên dưới như nhiều chiếc Android tai thỏ.

Theo Apple, công nghệ mới sẽ cho phép màn hình được kéo tràn sang các góc để có thể mang tới màn hình LCD có kích thước lớn nhất từ trước đến nay trên iPhone nhưng kích thước máy vẫn dễ dàng cầm nắm trong tay. Ngoài ra, đây sẽ là màn hình LCD tiên tiến nhất và có màu sắc chính xác nhất để mang đến cái nhìn chân thật về cuộc sống.

Chip A12 Bionic Thật may, Apple không hề cắt giảm về hiệu năng của iPhone XR như một số tin đồn trước đó và máy vẫn được trang bị con chip A12 Bionic với rất nhiều cải tiến như những người anh em XS. Một camera duy nhất nhưng vẫn có Potrait

iPhone XR chỉ có 1 camera sau duy nhất nhưng nó vẫn sẽ có potrait. Như vậy, đây là chiếc iPhone đầu tiên sở hữu 1 camera sau mà vẫn có hỗ trợ chụp ảnh xoá phông. Chiếc camera sau này có độ phân giải 12MP với chống rung quang học, khẩu độ f/1.8, đèn Flash True Tone Quad-LED, hỗ trợ quay video 4K 60fps, zoom kỹ thuật số 5x khi chụp và 3x khi quay video. Đối với ảnh chụp chân dung xoá phông, bạn có thể tuỳ chỉnh mức độ xoá phông cả trước và sau khi chụp xong.
