Heinicke Shows Grit in Comeback, Commanders Now Back at 500
The Washington Commanders were able to come away with their third straight victory Sunday in Indianapolis. To get that win, the team had to make a ten-play, 89-yard drive that lasted 2:17 seconds and ended with quarterback Taylor Heinicke rushing for a one-yard touchdown and spiking the ball. For fans of the burgundy and gold, this one turned out to be a nail-biter that will be remembered as one…

NFL Week 10
The Wideouts came to play this past weekend. Watching the Minnesota Vikings come back to beat the Buffalo Bills had me jumping with excitement and going crazy on Sunday. For what Justin “The Man” Jefferson did when the game was on the line is nothing short of spectacular. I’m sure most fans thought the corner-route pass thrown by Kirk Cousins was picked off and game was over…until Jefferson rolled over with the ball shifting from his right palm into his left arm as the pass was completed. The next play Jefferson ran a dig-route and took a hit securing the catch at about the 3-yard line. In overtime he caught another sweet catch on the same corner route at the end of regulation. Of course Mr. Jefferson takes home the WOW award. He finished the afternoon with 10 catches for 193 yards and 1 touchdown. His team secured the victory as well against a formidable Buffalo Bills.
On the opposite side was another dangerous wideout who goes by “Him.” All world wideout Stefon Diggs put on a show himself. Diggs did not find the end zone Sunday but he didn’t leave the field without having an eye dropping catch. Toward the end of the 3rd quarter, QB Josh Allen scrambled out the pocket right and fired a dart to Diggs who jumped up catching a 1-hand pass for a 25-yard gain. The next play he shook the corner and caught a slant where he broke a few tackles for the 20 yard completion. He’s currently number 3 in total yards with 857 and added to that total with 128 yards and 12 catches. I’m loving the way Stefon has played this season.
Ceedee Lamb sometimes plays like the baby sheep his last name implies and at other times he’s the grown version of that sheep. Against the Green Bay Packers, Lamb caught 11 of 15 balls for 150 yards and 2 Touchdowns. Lamb will make an incredible catch and usually drops the easy ones. Since Dak Prescott has returned his targets and production have gone up. I believe the Cowboys are using him in the backfield to increase his confidence by getting him the ball against guys who can’t cover. I’m all for whatever works as long as he continues to get better.
I believe this is the second week in a row that Terry McLaurin’s name has made this blog. Against one of the better defenses in the NFL (Eagles) McLaurin had a big day. Eagles corner Darius Slay was getting his ass whooped up and down the field. One play in particular was a beautiful release where McLaurin jabbed outside causing Slay to jump hard outside and stumble while he released inside catching a 45-yard go-route. Terry caught a bunch of slants and had another dope release on a corner route he caught near the end of the 2nd quarter. 8 catches for 128 yards is one hell of a game to beat the undefeated Eagles…Keep it up kid.
Davante Adams is top 3 in the NFL when it comes to press releases. On a simple quick out he tore the DB ass up and finished with an acrobatic one-hand catch for a 5 yard gain. He then lines up inside and does the same thing on an 5 yard in-route against #58 of the Indianapolis Colts. Adams toyed with the backer all game. Early in the 4th Adams broke free on a 48-yard dig to score his lone touchdown.
I’m glad a kid I once coached made the top wideouts of the week blog. Amon-Ra St. Brown finished the afternoon with 10 catches for 119 yards. I like how he’s being utilized in the run game to get him more touches. The Detroit Lions have a solid receiving core. St. Brown catches passes from the backfield, slot, and even receives handoffs. It appears teams in the league are copying what San Francisco does with Deebo Samuel and what the Atlanta Falcons have done with Cordarrelle Patterson. Line up your top athlete and utilize him against the teams worst defenders. I’m pushing for Amon-Ra to stay healthy so he could follow-up his rookie campaign with another 1,000 yard season.
To conclude this weeks 100-yard performers are two names I’ve never heard of. Had it not been for the game Justin Jefferson had; Christian Watson of the Green Bay Packers would have been the wideout of the week. The rookie from North Dakota State had an hat-trick scoring 3 times against the Dallas Cowboys. The 6’5 wideout is a blazer. He blew by the corner on his first touchdown for a 58-yard bomb from Aaron Rodgers and scored the games final touchdown on a play action over-route to tie the game…eventually leading to his team kicking a field-goal to win. Christian Kirk caused havoc against the Kansas City Chiefs catching 9 passes for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns. The contract he received sure seems to be paying off for the talented wideout. Lastly is the other wideout I had never heard of. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine of the Tennessee Titans had an impressive afternoon. His first touchdown was a nice toe-tapping catch in the left end zone. Nick then caught a 64-yard flea flicker making a Broncos defender miss a tackle has he scored his second touchdown of the day. He finished the game with 5 catch for 119 yards and 2 TD’s.
Another week to be great wideouts…let’s go, keep grinding, finish strong, and ball to the wheels fall.

As I was brainstorming on how to create my curation, I thought about my love for football and my favorite team, the Washington Commanders (formerly known as the Redskins). So I've decided to create a curation involving my favorite team. Since I want to use paintings and other forms of artwork, I used a background of an empty art gallery and fill the room and frame with artwork of Washington and their outstanding players in franchise history including the present. From left to right, I wan to introduce my curation by adding a piece of artwork of the historic Redskins. Next, I added a painting of Quarterback Robert Griffin iii (RG3). RG3 was an outstanding Quarterback for Washington in 2012 and was named offensive rookie of the year as a result of his performance! Next, I've added on of my favorite players who is currently playing for the commanders, Terry McLaurin. McLaurin plays wide receiver and has played with more than 10 quarterbacks and manages to have 4 consecutive seasons with 1,000+ receiving yards. McLaurin is expected to have another outstanding season with a new Rookie Quarterback from Louisiana State University who was a heisman winner, Jayden Daniels. Next, there is a panting of a play during the 1991 Super Bowl matchup between the Redskins and the Broncos. This play resulted in a touchdown and victory led by Quarterback Doug Williams. Finally, the painting on the easel is of Sean Taylor, one of the best safeties in NFL history. He was drafted from the University of Miami and is one of the hardest hitters on defense. Moreover, his play-ability has held solidify Washington's defense in crucial moments and he played in the Pro-Bowl. Unfortunately, his life tragically ended in 2007 but his legacy still carries on in the Franchise and his jersey was retired back in 2022. Moreover, I have chose to do a curation on the Commanders (Redskins) because I want to showcase how my favorite team is one of the best franchises in NFL history with highly remarkable players old and new!

Ron Rivera Talks Taylor Heinicke, 2022 Season on Jim Rome Show
Ron Rivera Talks Taylor Heinicke, 2022 Season on Jim Rome Show
Washington Commanders Head Coach Ron Rivera was a guest Wednesday on The Jim Rome Show. Rivera and Rome talked about several topics, including what it felt like when the team was 1-4 versus how he feels now at 7-5, Taylor Heinicke, and receiver Terry McLaurin. Washington has now won six of their last seven games and is in prime position to make a playoff push down the stretch. Rivera talks about…

NFL Week 13
Tumblr media
Weeks like this where 8 out of 10 wideouts scored is what I love to see. The wideout of the week award goes to Davante Adams of the Oakland Raiders. Adams looked and played fast. He ran great routes all game and I love his stop-n-go route up the left side for one of his two touchdowns. The Raiders are on a 3-game winning streak and if Adams production stays at this level…he’ll be challenging Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson, and Stefon Diggs for the receiving crown.
With a monstrous performance from a name I didn’t know till this weekend, Garret Wilson of the New York Jets played exceptional. He caught 8 balls for 162 yards. Wilson did not score but after watching his tape and the Jets upgrading at quarterback I think this kid will finish the season with one or two more 100 yard performances.
Tyreek “the Cheetah” Hill did what he does best and that’s ball. Hill caught 9 passes for 146 yards and scored on a 45-yard post pattern for his lone touchdown. Hill did this against a really physical and tough San Francisco defense. With 5 games left in the regular season, Hill is 621 yards from 2,000. If the mercurial wideout averages 124 yards during those 5 games…we will have witnessed the greatest season ever by a wideout.
Tyler Lockett had himself quite the game. Lockett caught 9 balls for 128 yards and scored on a beautiful over-route where he turned on the jets outracing defenders to the end zone. On the other side of the formation was his counter-part DK Metcalf. He himself caught all 8 passes thrown his way for 127 yards and 1 score. Metcalf finished the game with a tough slant catch while taking a hit and Jalen Ramsey draped on his back while scoring. I love watching good shit.
A.J. Brown is so good that he got his former GM of the Tennessee Titans fired because he traded the phenomenal wideout who returned to humiliate them. Brown put on a performance that led to an 8 catch day for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brown scored on an out-n-up and a fade that basically fell into his lap.
Amon-Ra St. Brown had a nice game. It appears that Jared Goff has found his go to wideout. Amon scored on an out route during the first half. He runs some really good slants and I like the explosiveness he displays on the screens and bubbles.
Terry Mclaurin got his day going early. His first catch was a 1-handed, broken tackle, shallow cross for 15 yards. Mclaurin caught a few slants and hitches and I like how he broke a few tackles on screens.
Christian Kirk eclipsed the 100 yard mark with 104 yards on 6 catches. He was the second wideout on the list who didn’t score. Kirk only needs a 177 yards to reach 1,000 proving the money spent on him this off-season was well worth it.
And Lastly Devonta Smith showed out opposite of his boy A.J. Brown. Smith caught 5 balls for 102 yards and 1 touchdown. His third catch was a beautiful post pattern for a 40 yard TD. I look forward to him and Brown eclipsing 1000 yards receiving in their first year together.
We have five more weeks left in the season and I expect the wideouts to finish strong, set new records, and have fun along the way. Let’s Go!
