Hope this isn't weird and maybe it's the psych major in me but I generally get curious and like to ask writers what pov is their favorite to write from. Reader or the canon character?

Not weird at all! It depends on the story, but 'x Reader' one-shots generally have me favoring character POV.

It's a great exercise in characterization. It provides a chance to better understand the character as they are written and the little nuances of behavior and thought that allows me to expand on what's already there (I tend to love background characters and side characters to side characters). And that it is 'x Reader' content, it allows me to write someone's favorite character falling in love with Reader and how much they adore them.

In longer stories, it's fun exploring character POV for reactions or thought processes—how did they see this situation or what were they thinking when X said this?—but I also enjoy writing the perspective of Reader as the primary way to explore the world, plot, and all that entails. Though, I will admit that my longer fics tend to read more like Nameless OCs rather than Reader because they are so far from having blank personalities, even if they don't have described features.
