Viren made his way slowly toward the star nexus, careful not to over exert himself. Around him the creatures of the night stirred from their slumber, awakened by the moon and starlight.

He found the elf standing still in the middle of the nexus, the setting of the sun and the rising of the night turning the shallow pool into a giant mirror reflecting the cosmos upon the earth.

Viren took a seat on one of the old ruin benches. The climb proved to be taxing even though he’d healed considerably since first being brought here. He silently watched Aaravos bask in the light of the stars, the twinkling specks on his skin glowing brighter with each passing minute.

Even though he knew so little about Startouch elves he could help his fascination. He knew a nexus was a place of great magical energy, that they were sacred and the elves had used them long ago. But he’d never seen one before, let alone witnessed one being used.

‘Extraordinary,’ Viren found himself thinking.

Eventually the stars dimmed and the elf became aware of his presence.

“You should be resting”

Viren shrugged, turning his eyes to the ground at his feet, “I needed some air”.

“So you came all the way to the nexus?”

Viren gave an exasperated sigh, “Well, I- What does it matter, I can’t just sit around...”

The elf chuckled softly.

“Do all humans fluster as easily as you do?”

Viren felt his face run hot, stammering out a ‘no!’ and a ‘wait- what?’ before turning his head away in embarrassment, even though a small smile formed on his lips.

He could feel the elf’s eyes on him and he knew Aaravos was smirking knowingly. While that would have sent him into a fit of internal annoyance before, now it felt more like friendly jest.

How does Haikyuu!! manage to leave me excited after the end of each chap. Damn. I'm still on the fence about Inarizaki, which is okay. They've still got time to prove me wrong. But damn, their support group are cheeky little fuckers. The contrast of Suna and Osamu was interesting, messing with pace and timing. Being unpredictable. Saeko has appeared so the party has started. (She's gonna slay, you know it. She's been practicing.) Bonus: Hinata, Noya, Kags, and Yachi 2nd grade photos. THEYRE SO DAMN CUTE.
