It’s currently 8:30 where I’m at, so the new year is right around the corner. As the new year rolls in, I just wanted to pop in and say that I am forever, and I mean forever greatful that you all have given me such a warm welcome to the Sam and Colby one shot community.

It truly warms my heart to see all the likes, reblogs, comments, anons and non, and messages.

2023 was a rough year, and I know not just for me.

Rain seems like the type to love dried fruits and flowers. Been eating dried hibiscus and my first thought was how Rain would probably love them

I think you’re absolutely right. I think Rain would love any opportunity to bring beauty into what could be otherwise mundane tasks like eating meals.

Actually have you ever read about or seen medieval salad recipes? The cultivated vegetables were very different and lettuce was included but so was a bunch of other stuff including a whole lot of fresh flowers as well as lots of fresh herbs.

They were very pretty. I bet Mountain grows the tastiest flowers to decorate their salads and they probably dry some out so that they can enjoy it in the winter. And definitely tea, rose petals and chamomile and calendula. And of course hibiscus in all of the things! It’s so yummy, like a more earthy and savory cranberry.

Dried fruits heck yes. I can see him making cute fruit and nut and cheese plates to snack on. Some dried figs and apricots, dates, mangos. All of it drizzled in buckwheat or clover honey. I feel like Ivy and Pebble have been around the block and know how to cultivate their way around an exotic fruit tree and would def help diversify the abbey kitchen.
