Life is too short to pretend you have it all together.

I joined a new city group last week. It was amazing. I absolutely love each of the girls and am excited to dive into the Word and live life with them this year. I was blown away by the fact that there families are just as messed up as mine. Sometimes I stop and wonder if anyone else's family is as messed up as mine. Having grown up in a reformed Calvinist church (which I loved) everyone else seemed perfect. I spent a lot of my time being ashamed for what my family has gone through. That's not right at all and life is too short to pretend to have it all together. I am just so blown away by the grace of God and the way people at my church now aren't afraid to admit they don't have it all together. It's so encouraging to me that I don't have to ever be ashamed at all. It's so freeing not to have to live in the dark. Honestly, I'm never going back to being ashamed or trying to pretend I'm perfect. I say it all the time and i'll say it again: life is too short to pretend you have it all together. And that life is exhausting. You can't thrive spiritually when you pretend. I'm so thankful God has woken me up and revealed His true grace through the people around me. So thankful that I'm not and never will be the only one with a messed up family. And I'm so thankful I never have to try and be perfect. Jesus loves me right now and forever. Nothing I can do can change that.
