“Part of my prayer this morning is for anyone who has lost a loved one and is still healing. My prayer is that throughout your grieving process and the holidays that you are resilient, that you keep your smile, that you ask God for peace, and that you share. Personally, I am continually learning that it’s okay to not be as excited because you missed that loved one. I am sure and know the reason for the season is Jesus Christ. It’s more than presents and it is about cherishing the memory of that loved one. Being present in the moment to love on the ones who are here and holding my hands through out this process. It’s hard as well. So if you have a friend, family member, or loved one who is still grieving don’t rush them through this process. I’ll speak for all of us we know we can’t stay in this place, we know that everyday it will get better, and we have our faith. Grieving isn’t a sign of weakness or lack of faith. Yesterday, a piece of my heart broke. 💔Rest in Heaven, Grandma. I will continue to celebrate your life & your legacy. God has made it well with my soul. My grandmother is no longer in pain & at peace. I could write a book on the impact she had on my life & so many others. Yet, I will share with you what she taught me: ❤️ She taught me about God. ❤️ She taught me when I was younger it was okay to be her shadow as I was shy (I outgrew the shyness 🤷🏽‍♀️). ❤️ She taught me that I had multiple gifts. ❤️She taught me how to stand strong in spite of any adversity I may face. ❤️ She taught me that getting my education was important. ❤️ She taught me how to cook, clean, and care for a home. ❤️ She taught me how to love others unconditionally even when they are wrong. ❤️ She taught me that sometimes I will have to be the bigger person and apologize when I’m out of line. ❤️ She taught me how to fight. Not always physically but for what I believe in and wanted to do. ❤️ She taught & showed me hard work. ❤️ She taught me how to support others genuinely. ❤️ She taught me how to speak life in to others. ❤️ She taught me how to think freely & outside the box. ❤️ She taught & showed me sacrifice. ❤️ She taught me how to help others without telling everyone. ❤️ She taught me how to care for others physically. ❤️ She taught me how to forgive. ❤️ She taught & showed me grace. I could go on and on..... On Tuesday, she told me not to cry. Yet, it’s a part of the healing process. She gave me flowers while I was growing up. They may not have been ones that are clipped from a Rose bush or that grow from the ground. They were flowers in the form of life lessons. These last years I was able to give her flowers back & I’ll continue to share those flowers with others. Those flowers consisted of making peace with her, spending time with her even if it meant we just sat in silence, held her hand, prayed for her, spoke kind words, & most importantly showing her I loved her. I will always love her & though she is not here physically her spirit & everything she taught me will live on.
