Cas really did fall into the arms of the first person to show him kindness after The Great Fall.

It was the only time he let himself be soft and vulnerable and genuinely enjoy scraps of affection with a mirrored soft smile and: “More of this, I hope.”

He let go of his angelic asceticism and let himself feel.

It was so cruel.

I mean it must really fuck with his head … how basking in affection leads to death or punishment … in one way or another.

#I was thinking about a post that posited cas is more effective as a leader LATER precisely because he’s learned kindness #and angels don’t expect kindness #so much that it startled them when it’s offered #I’m thinking of Gadreel viewing him as honorable #especially Hannah and Hannah’s reactions to human hospitality #narrative punishment #cas absolutely was depicted as enjoying the intimacy with April #that bothers some ppl but that was a soft happy boy enjoying the afterglow and affection #then it was merely a trap #because that’s what Chuck wants for cas especially #Cas’s dreamy smile after sex was genuine #that angel enjoyed the hedonism that’s not a lie or a front or an act #it has very little to do with emulating dean in that moment imho #it was simply allowing himself a good thing because he was t an angel anymore and he was allowed to feel #because humans are suffering but they are good and deserve affection #affection and love are human things
