Weird question but do you think its possible to become a zookeeper without a degree? I'm 29 and don't have the time, energy, or money to go back to college and fear I've missed my chance at my dream career. I'm not sure how to get experience or what I could possibly do to help my resume.
It’s definitely possible! Not super common, but possible - and much more so than it would have been a couple of years ago.
When I was in college (early 2010s) and wanting to enter the field, there was a pretty clear pipeline: four year degree, unpaid summer internships, then apply for a part-time or temp position somewhere, and volunteer somewhere until you get a first job. This is still somewhat of the way it’s done at bigger AZA facilities.
But, interestingly enough, things are changing. There’s two things really driving that. The first is the massive push for increased DEAI efforts in the zoo industry. After the big commitments AZA and many individual zoos made during the BLM protests in 2020, one of the big conversations that started was how inequitable zoo hiring and especially internship programs are. Requiring four years degrees and large amounts of unpaid labor before getting a job - and paying poverty wages once someone gets that job - biases success entering and staying in the zoo field towards people with generational wealth. I honestly didn’t think the advocacy that stemmed from those discussions would do much, and I’ve been very pleasantly surprised to see that I was wrong! There’s a been a lot of real movement towards creating paid internships and making hiring requirements more equitable. It isn’t happening everywhere, but I know it’s becoming more and more common (and last year there was a ton of presentations about this on the AZA annual meeting schedule, which is a huge deal). The other thing that’s happening is less formal, but equally fascinating. I’ve been present for a lot of discussions about how there’s a disconnect between what zoos are hiring for (formal education, complex resumes) and what skills the job actually requires. It seems like it’s easier to train people to work with animals and learn their behavior than it is to teach people practical skills like how to do manual labor without hurting themselves and operate heavy machinery. I’ve seen some discussions of how some of their most successful new staff have come from adjacent industries or even just other “blue-collar” jobs that involve similar types of work, regardless of what their academic background is. Which is great! Because that adds to equity and diversity of staff across the industry.
To start off the rest of my answer, there has to be a disclaimer that I’m not in hiring, so I can’t say for sure what will get you a job (and while I’ve volunteered and interned, I have never been formally hired as staff by a zoological facility). So my advice for the rest of this comes from watching and listening to a whole ton of industry folk for the past decade or so, and from what I’ve seen my friends do that’s been successful to get jobs in the field.
In terms of experience, the best thing you can do - and I hate to say this, because it does require a level of privilege to be able to do - is volunteer somewhere. It doesn’t have to be at a zoo. Anything that will give you some animal experience for a resume and references will be valuable: shelters, vet offices, riding barns, farms, even 4H. You need to be able to demonstrate that you’ve worked around a variety of species (even if they’re all domestic) and have people who can speak to the fact that you’re diligent, attentive to detail, and have common sense about things like safety protocols. If you can’t volunteer, try to find a job in any of these areas with similar skills. Or where you can learn them! Say you can’t get an animal care job, but you’re good at phones and people - you could get a desk job at an animal shelter, and help out with cleaning and animal enrichment when possible. Boom! Experience!
It’s also important to learn how to shape your current job experience to an application, which is something I can talk more about and maybe pull in advice from folk actually in hiring for. There’s a ton that can be applicable to animal jobs. Office work? You can probably speak to experience with proprietary software systems and record-keeping (which is a bigger deal than you’d think). Construction / landscaping / similar physical labor jobs? You know how to work hard in a range of weather conditions, keep a project on spec, have experience with complex project planning, and probably know a thing or two about basic safety stuff (don’t store heavy things above your head, lift with your legs, etc). You’re basically looking to communicate “I haven’t worked in this field, but here’s all the skills I have that will translate to this job.”
Realistically, if you’re coming in without a degree or a ton of animal experience, you’re much more likely to be able to get a job at smaller, non-AZA facilities to start (they might not even be zoos - there’s sanctuaries and petting zoos and all sorts of other professional animal care gigs). And this is fine and good! There’s lots of good ones out there. You can always use experience gained there to move up in the field, if it’s your dream to work at an AZA facility specifically. And a lot of people do that - you’ll hear some places talk about how they know they’re training zoos, because their staff get a foot in the door and then consistently leave for other facilities after a couple years. But there’s also a lot of reasons to stay with some of the smaller facilities. They’re often in areas with cheaper cost of living, and so a zookeeping salary will go farther. I’ve also seen that a lot of the smaller facilities - ones where like, staff know and interact with the zoo director frequently - tend to take better care of their staff. They may not be able to increase salary, but I’ve seen some of those facilities go the extra mile for their people in other ways when it’s possible. It’s a very different experience than being a small cog in the giant machines that are many AZA zoos. It’s the sort of thing you have to vet carefully, but when you find a small facility that really invests in it’s people, it can be very worthwhile.
You also have to think about the fact that you don’t have to start in zookeeping to get an animal care job! I’ve seen a lot of people start in education or in summer camp staff, and then use the relationship with the facility and their track record in those jobs to transition into animal care. Especially education, if you’ve got the skill-set, because you’re often working with ambassador animals or in collaboration with the teams that care for them. I’ve seen some people start in facilities or ground crew, too, but I think that’s less common. Getting your foot in the door somehow and building relationships is one of the biggest parts of getting a job in the field if you’re not following the traditional pipeline.
If you’re near enough to a smaller facility that you can visit regularly, do. Learn as much as you can about the zoo and what they do and what they’re involved in, to show that you’re interested and invested, and then go talk to someone there. Tell them exactly what you told me: this is a dream, and you’re really interested in their facility specifically, and you’re wondering what you should do to build a resume to apply for a job there. At worst, you’ll get some advice. At best, they might take a chance on you. I’ve heard of it happening. (The hardest part of this is, honestly, figuring out who to talk to - it’s not the sort of thing where you can just ask a keeper while they’re cleaning. But you can find opportunities, and then ask if there’s someone in management who might have time to answer a couple questions.)
So in short: yes. It’ll take some work and time, and probably some free labor, but it’s doable. More so now than any other time recently. Good luck!

This is mostly about coding as a job but I guess this is general advise for any job: find a hobby that doesn't involve your work. I fell into coding because my degree was worthless in 2010 but the mobile industry was poppin off. I had some base-level skills in HTML from being a kid on the internet so I learned how to code. It worked out for me, but I fucking hate my job. I don't hate the people I work with, I just hate the work. It sucks. I'm good at it but it sucks.
It takes years to develop this habit so start early: set hard boundaries for your work day. Don't put work email on your phone. If you work a job that actively harasses you outside of work hours, try your best to find a better one (i know that's not an option for everyone). No amount of pay is worth encroaching on your free time.
Once you compartmentalize those 8 hours as work time you can make space for things in your life that actually bring you joy. For me it's cooking and tabletop RPGs and hiking/camping. And video games when I need to completely unplug. During your free time you can work on stopping thinking about work. I know that may sound silly, but it's easy to get obsessed about what you need to do at work, especially if you code because coding has the ability to worm into your brain and trick you into thinking it's fun imagination games to solve problems in your head (hint: your brain is not a compiler).
I know that "just find a hobby" isn't as easy as it sounds for some people, but I say this with the full understanding and experience that it took me a long time to figure out what hobbies are the ones I truly enjoy doing. You're probably gonna try and drop a number of hobbies before you find one that sticks, and that's ok. If the hobbies require you to spend money to get started (like, photography), always remember there are oodles of sources on the internet for researching and buying cheap ways to get started. Or even groups that will let you borrow/use things for free.
If you really do enjoy coding as a hobby, then by all means keep doing that. I'm not trying to discourage that behavior, because there's plenty of stuff you can make that doesn't involve greasing the wheels of your employer despite the fact it's what you do for a living. Just please don't do your job for free.
We shouldn't have to be subjected to living like this but as long as we're still subjugated under capitalist hell this is the best advice I have to give after working in the industry for 12 years.

Fuck it i'm doing my own Edward Nashton NSFW headcanons
i need to put my hot takes into the world you all must hear this:
I do not think he's a virgin. I think he's had sex before but it probably sucked. I'd imagine he was sick of not getting any action, so he payed for an escort to take his virginity. After doing so, he realized that having sex didn't fundamentally change anything, and he was still the same sack of shit he felt like before
He most definitely edates. 100%. At the very least I'd imagine he did so in the late 2000's and early 2010's, but gave up because he didn't feel like his relationships would go anywhere beyond being online. He most likely is better at sexting and phone sex over doing literally anything physical.
He is either gay or bi/pan/poly/omni. I cannot imagine this guy being straight.
He is a switch. Either extremely submissive or extremely dominant. No in between whatsoever.
He is obsessed with sucking dick/pussy. Mans just wants to put his mouth on some genitals. He will crawl on his hands and knees, whimpering and begging to give head.
He has a panty/underwear fetish. He's the kind of person who will steal someone's underwear from their laundry to sniff and use as a cumrag.
He's into voyeurism. He enjoys watching people have sex, masturbate, undress, you name it. He also masturbates in public bathrooms and honestly where ever he can, to fulfill his fantasies of having sex in public. He's a bit of a creep like that
I feel like a lot of girls would think he's cute and flirt with him, but he always reject them coldly because he thinks they're trying to toy with him. Someone would have to be extremely forward and persistent to get him to understand that they want him.
I know there are people who will disagree with this, but I would like to think he'd last long in bed. Yeah, he could cum instantly, but he likes to painfully edge himself for hours to satisfy his partner.
This is a given but he watches a fuck ton of porn and masturbates everyday, sometimes multiple times.
He's got a nasty big gigantic fat long penis. Its got veins and ridges. That shit would be flopping and smacking against his stomach when he gets fucked in the ass. he gets shy when his partner points out his monster cock.
He has a pudgy stomach and a fat fupa. also his ass is gargantuan.
He would kill himself just to shove his face in some boobs for a mere few seconds. He needs to touch boobs or else he will die.
Ok here's some more serious and sad headcanons:
If he ever gets a sincerely loving partner, he honestly would probably start reevaluating his life choices. Finding a purpose in life through feeling genuine love would change him forever. It wouldn't fix him, obviously, but it would give him the smallest sliver of hope, which feels so impossible for him. I doubt he'd actually change for the better, but I think he'd gain some self reflection.
He's codependent and actually prefers not to date or have sex in fear of being hurt. He gets attached to people way too easily and mediates it by not even giving himself the chance.
If his partner found out he was the riddler and hated him for it, he would spiral deeper and become worse.
if his partner liked that he was the riddler, he'd probably gain a massive ego and become obsessed with them to the point of the relationship becoming destructive.
And one for good luck:
That riddler costume STINKS. He probably would fuck someone in it BUT NOT ME. He opens his jacket and it smells like the worlds worst fart. If ur into the costume then get a clothes pin for your nose and good luck soldier.

corey cunningham headcanons [volume one]
i have an (over)abundance of time to think about corey, he plagues my mind 24/7, so i'm inflicting a sprinkling of those thoughts onto all of you. based on this list of questions for character development.
topics include: drinks order, grooming routine, money and purchases, scars, how often he cries, siblings, shoes, sleeping habits and favourite holiday.
WARNING for some general angst, as well as mild mentions of smut, child abuse or otherwise problematic parental behaviour and alcohol consumption.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
drinks order
corey's not a big coffee drinker, he usually finds it too bitter, even with milk and sugar. he's happy to "go for coffee" with someone though, he'll just get a hot chocolate or a frappe with a lot of syrup.
he doesn't drink alcohol that often, joan never really drank in the house except for special occasions and she limits ronald to a few beers at most after dinner. as a result, corey is a bit of a lightweight, but when he does drink he always goes for a beer. he hasn't quite developed a taste for harder liquor yet, but vodka is a safe bet because he can mix it with pretty much anything and doesn't have to taste it. he likes the idea of whiskey (the most manly of liquors) but the first time he tried it, the burn made his eyes water.
grooming routine
joan was meticulous about his cleanliness in childhood. he had a bath every night before bed and joan made sure he never had dirt under his nails or behind his ears.
pre-accident corey has taken to showering rather than bathing. he showers every evening and shaves every other day. his facial hair is light/reddish so he can go a few days before it's really obvious he has stubble, but he likes being clean shaven.
he uses 3 in 1 soap for body/hair/face, and yet somehow has the most gorgeous hair in the whole world and (mostly) okay skin. he still gets spots/pimples but he got through his teenage acne stage pretty much unscathed. he doesn't do any skincare. he has a bottle of lotion (on his bedside...) but he doesn't use it often unless he has really dry skin on his elbows or knuckles. it's store-brand unscented. and as a teenage boy in the 2010s, he used an excessive amount of axe body spray. now he has a more grown-up aftershave, but he doesn't use it all the time.
post-accident corey doesn't fair so well. for months after the trial he barely gets out of bed unless joan nags him enough, dragging him on errands or calling him downstairs at meal times. he'd shower when joan forced him to, and shaves maybe once a week.
once he gets a job at the call centre, he has to keep up appearances a little bit again. he showers every day (or other day, if he's not feeling up to it), doesn't mind stubble so much anymore so shaves every 3 - 4 days. when he gets a job at the scrap yard, he's more diligent about showering every day (does not want to go to bed still covered in garage grime.
corey's not a hugely hairy guy anyway, so he doesn't really do anything with his body hair. when he still had hope for getting past second base, he might of trimmed and "manscaped" a bit, but after a three year dry spell, he knows he'd just be kidding himself.
most expensive purchase and disposable income
he doesn't spend a lot of money. he doesn't have a lot of things. the cunningham-prevos are working class, he's used to not having a lot of disposable income to spend, especially before joan married ronald and she was a single mom for the majority of corey's childhood. joan doesn't make him pay rent or contribute to bills so most of his wages go into his savings (saving for what, he doesn't know anymore), and what little he does spend is on snacks and food from the gas station. now and then he'll see a yard sale while cycling home and might stop to look through some books - he has a shelf of tatty sci-fi paperbacks at home - but a few cents here and there barely makes a dent in his pocket.
he did buy his own phone though, as an upgrade from the abysmal off-brand smartphone joan begrudgingly bought him at 18. his phone is probably the most expensive thing he's ever bought, and even then its far from being the latest, most expensive model on the market. he doesn't even pay his own phone bill, seeing as he's on the family plan.
scars
corey doesn't really have any scars, pre-accident. he never really got hurt much as a kid, not with joan watching him like a hawk, but her jurisdiction did not extend to the school playground (luckily for him), where he got his fair share of grazed knees. no lasting scars though.
working at the scrapyard is rough in his hands, though. he hides it well from joan, but he gets little cuts on his fingers and around his cuticles from working. they heal up fine, but he can still see each silvery knick and wears them proudly. they're the proof of his skills, of what he can fix with his own hands.
the cut on his hand from the broken glass eventually leaves a thick scar on his palm. it would of healed more cleanly had he not ripped the stitches so badly and let it get infected. he ends up not being able to feel anything properly in the scar tissue, able to dig his nails into it when he clenches a fist without feeling a thing.
how often does he cry?
pretty often. not always over something specific, he's just an emotional person. as a baby he was (perhaps surprisingly) content, not fussy at all - a fact joan was exceedingly proud of. she'd look at other mothers out in public who just "couldn't control" their children, whose babies wailed and cried. then she'd look down at corey and be reassured of how excellent of a mother she was, with her perfectly happy, chubby-cheeked baby. but that didn't last and as he got older, it become clear he struggled outside of the home and he got overwhelmed a lot. joan said he was just a sensitive boy, was happy to coddle him if it meant he'd stay being a momma's boy, even when other parents would have been worried about his emotional development. he cried every day for the first month of kindergarten. he cried in the locker room at school after a fight he was in when he was 13. he'd cry at night after arguing with joan over whether he could go to college and whether or not she'd fill in his financial aid applications.
after the accident, he was in such a bad state of shock that he didn't cry at all. during questioning, when he was having to repeat himself over and over, he cried out of frustration because it was just an accident, he swears it was just an accident, but it feels like no one believes him and he just wants to go home. then, with the trial, he focused exclusively on that, no time to feel anything at all other than the anxiety that churned his stomach. once he got aquitted, that's when it really happens. he has a huge nervous breakdown, spends the whole night crying to joan while she holds him. it takes weeks for things to get better and there's a lot of crying and borderline catatonia.
he doesn't really cry over much after that. usually it's silly things that set him off, and it sort of surprises him that he can even do it anymore. sometimes he cried when he went to the allen house, or up to the radio station, but not always.
oldest, middle, youngest or only child?
only child. of course. joan only needed one object for her affections, just one person she could shape into loving her and only her unconditionally.
sometimes i wonder if corey was the result of a baby trap; joan having a baby so wally would have to stay and love her and provide for them, until it got to a point where she couldn't care less if wally stayed or not. once she realised corey could be a much better fit for her obsessions, of course.
corey thinks about what it'd be like if he had any siblings (and who knows, maybe he does if wally was unlucky enough to get someone else pregnant after he left haddonfield). mostly he sees other kids with siblings and wishes he had someone he could be close to, someone who would be in his corner against joan.
shoes
pre-accident corey has two pairs of trainers and a pair of "nice" shoes he wore for graduation. he's never been a fashion person, wouldn't even know where to start, but he at least chose his trainers himself, even if joan was with him and vetting his choices over his shoulder.
post-accident corey has one pair of trainers (he threw out the ones he was wearing the night of the accident), those same "nice" shoes (worn to graduation and to court) and his work boots. mostly the only places he goes is from home to work and back again, so he's more often than not got his work boots on. they're well worn and well stained with dust and grime.
sleep
corey's naturally a night owl. for a long time, he had a really (really) early bedtime and joan would stay in his room until he fell asleep. it made him wake up early but he'd go back to sleep and then it was difficult for him to get up again at the proper time. but once she stopped watching him sleep, as a reflex corey started staying up late, which made his trouble getting to sleep at all even worse. he has even more trouble getting up in the morning.
he sleeps with two pillows and a duvet. he has a blanket for winter but he usually runs so hot he doesn't need it. he also has a much older blanket he always keeps at the foot of the bed that he's had since he was a kid. it's a bit ratty now, but it makes him feel a little bit better when he's in one of his moods. he has two sets of sheets that joan has on a two-week laundry rotation.
after the accident, his sleep pattern is obliterated. he finds it even more difficult to get to sleep because his thoughts are constantly racing. he wakes up crying from nightmares pretty much every night, so upset he wakes joan and she comes running. he hates relying on her so much, but having her there does help him go back to sleep. it takes months for him to start sleeping through the night again (or as close to that as he's ever been capable of). eventually he starts doing what he did when he was younger, where he'd wake up in the early morning, but instead of going back to sleep, he'd sneak out to either the allen house or the radio station, depending on how much hope he current possessed about the future.
as previously mentioned, he is not a morning person. he often sleeps in later than he means to, falling back to sleep after turning his alarm off. he's late for work at least twice a month but usually more. ronald's on his back about it, but after a scolding he usually let's it slide. if it's not sleeping in that makes him late, it's joan's subtle acts of sabotage that keep him from getting out the door on time.
favourite holiday
corey doesn't really care about holidays too much. joan's neurotic need to control every single aspect of every single holiday means he's used to just sort of coasting through, doing whatever it takes to make her happy (or at least placate her for the day).
if he had to pick a favourite, he doesn't mind thanksgiving. it's less pressure than christmas, where the prospect of giving and receiving gifts fills corey with a special sort of dread. for a long time it was just him and joan for thanksgiving anyway, he doesn't have any other family, so there isn't the stress of having guests over. it's actually sort of nice, they have dinner and joan bakes a pie. her cooking is still pretty terrible, but corey's willing to overlook that fact in order to keep the peace. they eat dinner and watch TV, some of his best memories with joan are where they just sit and watch TV. plus, corey has his "what he's thankful for" speech perfected, "i'm thankful that you're my mom, and that you take care of me and love me." joan eats that shit right up.
his birthday became his least favourite holiday for a while. it's torturous having to sit through joan's affections, which she ramps up tenfold for the occasion, and he rarely gets what he really wants in terms of presents. anything he wants is watered down for joan's approval. corey hasn't had a birthday party since he was five years old, but joan still makes a show of getting him a cake and lighting the candles after dinner. the effort to keep joan sweet and show enough appreciation for her giving birth to him is enough to fry his nerves for the whole day.
halloween soon takes the number one spot though. you can't really have a worse holiday than the anniversary of the time a child died in front of you.

Things that have happened to me on Friday the 13th before:
1) August 2010: I got called upstairs early in my shift at the department store where I’d been working for the last year and a half. After completing my first year of university in spring 2009, I’d taken a year off to try to save money by working full time. I hadn’t gotten a full time position at that store, so I had all the benefits and job security of a part time worker, but I was working 44 hours a week. Sometimes more than that, though then I’d have to work fewer the next week. The company was required to pay us overtime if we went over 88 hours in a two-week pay period, so I was never allowed to do that. But I hit exactly 88 hours many times, sometimes getting sent home from a shift early if my manager realized I’d reached that point. Because they’d rather have the other cashiers work short staffed for the last bit of the night than have me stay until the end of my shift and get paid overtime.
I’d gotten really attached to this job. I was 18 when I started there and 19 when I unceremoniously ended there, and I didn’t yet understand how a job was a negotiation between a worker and the company. I just wanted to be the best employee possible, so I set my availability to any time, all day. Never booked time off or called in sick. Always answered my phone when they called, always said yes when they asked me to start early or stay late or come in on a day off. Took pride in the way I understood everything about how that place worked. I used the same cash register every day, and everyone else knew not to use it. Every other cash was a mess, but mine had everything clearly in its place. The discount cards, the envelopes for cash drops, the different sized bags, the elastic bands that I kept there as a way to stay grounded long before fidget spinners existed. My cash’s phone was the only one without a list of phone numbers for all the departments on it. Because I was the only staff member – among not just the low-level employees, but the managers too – who had every phone number memorized. So I didn’t need the list of numbers, and since no one but me used that cash anyway, they took the list from my phone and put it on a wall where it would be more useful.
Looking back, I have trouble remembering why. But I remember feeling like it mattered. I don’t think I got drawn in by the rhetoric about the importance of making profit for the company or whatever. I remember rolling my eyes when we were taught about upselling and things like that. I just felt like I needed to know everything and get every step right. To be the best at that job and remember every single detail of it. The repetitive nature of the job appealed to the autistic nature of my personality. The script of “Did you find everything you were looking for-Would you like a bag with that-That will be [price]-Have a nice day” reminded me of how I’d learned to communicate in the first place. When I was a kid, I was on a much “lower functioning” part of the autistic spectrum than I’m on now. My ability to communicate in a way that could be easily understood was very limited, and I got a bunch of therapy that gave me rote scripts for how I was supposed to express myself.
My job as a department store cashier drew on that, and I found myself easily able to slip into the role of repeating the same script over and over. Remembering the same actions over and over. Calling out the correct numbers when someone at another cash asked “What’s the number for [department]?” because they knew it would take less time to call out the question and have me answer it than to look it up on their list. Doing everything the same way every time. By that time I was much more “functional” than I was as a kid, I could easily communicate and understand what was happening around me. But still, I found comfort in falling back on stuff I’d learned in therapy that I had as a much less functional kid.
I’ve recently started a co-op job of working with autistic kids, and it’s brought up a lot of stuff about my own childhood in the versions of this therapy that existed twenty years ago, and how different things were then than they are now. I can’t write about specifics of my job because it’s all confidential – I’ll trust the anonymity of this blog enough to write personal stuff about myself, including stuff I wouldn’t want attached to my real name, because I’m pretty sure no one will connect this blog to my real life. But I can’t trust the anonymity enough to write specifics of people who are receiving treatment that is meant to be completely confidential. I will just say, as a general statement, I do think it’s cool to see how much the field has progressed. There are still a lot of ways it could be better. But the kids I saw at work last week had much better treatment than what I had at their age. But it is interesting to see they still learn what I learned, even if they now learn it in a much different and better way. They learn how to repeat rote scripts if they’re unable to generate their own words. Basically, autism therapy is great training for the job of a cashier.
Anyway. Friday August 13, 2010. I got called upstairs at the beginning of my shift and told I was being laid off. “Laid off” means the same as “made redundant” in some places – gotten rid of because they don’t need you, not fired. Except that I was the only person laid off, and they hired four new cashiers as soon as I was gone. Yeah I did so much for them that it took four people to replace me. Of course you’re not supposed to need to replace a “laid off” worker, but that can happen if they were “laid off” not because workers were unneeded, but because firing them would be illegal. For example, it’s illegal to fire someone for having panic attacks at work. I mean, maybe that would be fine if the panic attacks made them unable to do their job properly. But my panic attacks didn’t do that – I could stay on cash and keep working through them. But I frequently had breakdowns in the change room during breaks. One time, not long before they got rid of me, they had call an ambulance for me after the shift when I worked through such a bad panic attack that I collapsed as soon as it ended.
It sounds weird to say that in my entire life as a mentally ill person, with mild autism and severe anxiety and OCD being sort of in between those things (in that I got diagnosed with it but have since been told I shouldn’t technically have been diagnosed with it because my OCD symptoms can be better explained as autism and/or anxiety symptoms, but symptoms of OCD have still fucked me up mentally over the years), who’s gone through some difficult shit, one of the worst times in my life was when I lost an easily replaceable retail job. It’s weird to say I was traumatized by a department store. But it’s genuinely one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. I was so mentally invested in that job, and it got ripped away with no warning, and my brain is not good at dealing with big changes to sources of strong emotional investment with no warning.
For months after, I cried myself to sleep every night and cried most of the day as well. I started school again, but never went to class. I just learned out of the book, never leaving my bedroom unless I absolutely had to go to campus and write a midterm or exam. I got three A+s and two As in the fall 2010 semester, because I was so deeply depressed that I could not do anything except cry and feel awful and drink alcohol and read my textbooks. I shut down mentally. I didn’t socialize, I withdrew from my sport, I thought I’d never care about anything or feel anything except awful again. For the following school year I moved halfway across the country for a year, just to try to get some sort of fresh start, but I was still miserable. It took several years to really get over it.
2) March 2020: Yeah, Friday, March 2020 was the day the God damned world ended. I was on the East Coast, visiting my grandparents along with my mother. My mother’s birthday is March 12, and on that night, we went into town to have dinner at a restaurant. My family members started talking about this disease that was encroaching on our world, and I got up and went outside to walk by the ocean instead of listening to that conversation. I listen to my CBC news podcasts every day, and for the last while, listening to those had really fucked with my anxiety because the news seemed to be that the world would probably end soon. I decided I forced myself to listen to that terrifying shit for the duration of my podcasts, and I didn’t need to hear it at other times too. I stayed outside until my family was ready to go back to my grandparents’ house.
The next day, the world ended. They canceled the major sports leagues. They canceled school. They canceled the upcoming tournaments in my sport. I’d coached a big tournament at the beginning of March, then driven out East with my mom, with the plan that we’d be there for a couple of weeks and then get home so I could be back with my sports team to coach them through the next round of tournaments. But that was no longer necessary, as all those were canceled. And not just small ones. National championships in two age groups were gone just like that. All announced on Friday, March 13.
I extended my stay at my grandparents’ place, because I had no good reason to go home. I was going to college online and working at an editing job that could be done from anywhere. My only good reason to be home was my sport, and the tournaments and practices were canceled indefinitely.
My grandparents lived out in the country, and it felt surreal to listen to my podcasts every day and hear about the world going up in flames, when I was in a place where things stayed mostly the same. I went walking by the water every day, climbing over rocks and putting my hands in the Atlantic Ocean. I watched a show I’d just discovered called Taskmaster, and I called out apologies to my family when I laughed out loud and the sound carried all through the country house with paper-thin walls. I listened to the news and I felt terrified and I accepted that life as I knew it was on hold indefinitely.
3) May 2022: The last day of my first week of work at a new co-op job. I’d gone in anxious that by the end of the week I’d be completely mentally defeated, badly enough to not be functional, to be fired for having panic attacks just like I was in 2010. But I wasn’t. I was tired, but a fairly normal amount of tired after waking up at 6 AM five days in a row and then working all day. I was mentally and physically drained, but nothing that couldn’t be healed in a couple of days. I was still alert and able to function. The world didn’t end.
Things are getting better.

Venting after the read below
Tw: depression & negative selftalk & suicidal ideation
To lay the background, I live with my mom in a house that has a separate apartment that is connected to the rest of the house & my dad passed away in October.
I’m not currently paying rent on the apartment, but I pay some of the bills, get the groceries for us(started buying them a month ago), pay for the dog poop to get picked up (I have a dog & she has a dog), do the dishes, cook or pay for most of our meals, drive her everywhere, etc. while working a full time job and doing online schooling full time.
Now I’ve always had a weird relationship with my mom bc she is definitely undiagnosed with something. I have anxiety and major depression. & she definitely gave me body image issues as a kid, by making me do weight watchers when i was a preteen. She’s always swapped her emotions on a dime & she always denies saying mean/bad things.
Anyways to the present. For about a month she has been in the anger stage of grief and I am most commonly the victim. For example, I went to a concert a few weeks ago and she kept guilting me about me going starting that morning even though she had encouraged me to go for about a month leading up to it. this ultimately led to me being upset and worried the whole time & having a panic attack, thus ruining this once in a life time thing, which she then talked down to me about how I need to just learn to have fun. I didn’t tell her the full reason for not enjoying it, just that I had a panic attack.
Currently she is out of town for the weekend and I am at the house with the dogs. The issue at where she is at is the wifi isn’t working so she can’t watch tv and I tried to facetime her to help & it didn’t work. Then my brother went over today to fix it and it didn’t work. While my brother was with her, my sister came over for a bit & we ended up cleaning the spice cabinet & pantry bc there was an insane amount of expired stuff. We found stuff that expired in 2010! We have moved 3 times since then. Anyways, we sent her a picture of how nice it looks and she was pretty angry but I figured that she would have gotten over it by now after we explained that it was all expired & it’s been about 6 hours.
Anyways she just texted me about something that I already tried to help with over the phone on Friday, Saturday, & this morning. Then as I’m calling her, she texts saying not to call her. Then when I text saying that I have looked everywhere and cannot find the info that she needs, she resent the thing she needs in all caps. And I know that it was probably just the fact that she is older and her texts almost always come off passive aggressive, but it just hit me really hard & I’ve been crying the past 30 minutes and am just really upset & want to run away or do something bad to myself. Luckily knowing that she won’t be back until late tomorrow so the dogs wouldn’t get taken care of is stopping me from doing bad stuff to myself, but I’m just so done. It just makes me so upset and feel like a failure. Which I already know that I am, I fucking dropped out of college and moved home and barely have any irl friends my age who haven’t moved and I still haven’t gotten my degree and i’m an anxious idiot and I’m messy and I’m overweight and I just can’t do anything right.
She acts like she is the only one allowed to grieve my father. Yes, they were married for 26 years, but I knew him my whole life & we were really close. I miss him so much…it’s his birthday on Friday and we are supposed to go to one of his favorite lakes and spread some ashes and spend a few days there just the 2 of us and I really don’t wanna go now, with her pulling this shit.
Anyways sorry i just needed to get this out there…

Stopping Foreclosure In Utah
Stopping Foreclosure In Utah
Before the foreclosure crisis, which peaked in 2010, federal and state laws regulating mortgage servicers and foreclosure procedures were relatively limited and tended to favor foreclosing lenders. Now, however, federal and state laws heavily regulate loan servicing and foreclosure processes. And most of the laws give protections to borrowers.
Servicers generally have to provide borrowers with loss mitigation opportunities, account for each foreclosure step, and strictly comply with foreclosure laws. Also, most people who take out a loan to buy a residential property in Utah sign a promissory note and a deed of trust, which is like a mortgage. These documents give homeowners some contractual rights in addition to federal and state legal protections.
In a Utah foreclosure, you’ll most likely get the right to:  A preforeclosure notice  Apply for loss mitigation  Receive certain foreclosure notices  Get current on the loan and stop the foreclosure sale  Receive special protections if you’re in the military  Pay off the loan to prevent a sale  File for bankruptcy, and  Get any excess money after a foreclosure sale.
So, don’t get caught off guard if you’re a Utah homeowner who’s behind in mortgage payments. Learn about each step in a Utah foreclosure, from missing your first payment to a foreclosure sale. Once you understand the process, you can make the most of your situation and, hopefully, work out a way to save your home or at least get through the process with as little anxiety as possible.
What Is Preforeclosure?
The period after you fall behind in payments, but before a foreclosure officially starts, is generally called the “preforeclosure” stage. (Sometimes, people refer to the period before a foreclosure sale actually happens as “preforeclosure,” too.) During this time, the servicer can charge you various fees, like late charges and inspection fees, and, in most cases, must inform you about ways to avoid foreclosure and send you a preforeclosure notice called a “breach letter.”
Fees the Servicer Can Charge During Preforeclosure
If you miss a payment, most loans include a grace period of ten or fifteen days, after which time the servicer will assess a late fee. Each month you miss a payment, the servicer will charge this fee. To find out the late charge amount and grace period for your loan, look at the promissory note you signed. You can also find this information on your monthly mortgage statement.
Also, most Utah deeds of trust allow the lender (or the current loan holder, referred to as the “lender” in this article) to take necessary steps to protect its interest in the property. Property inspections are performed to ensure that the home is occupied and appropriately maintained. Inspections, which are generally drive-by, are usually ordered automatically once the loan goes into default and typically cost around $10 or $15.
Other types of fees the servicer might charge include those for broker’s price opinions, which are like appraisals and property preservation costs, such as for yard maintenance or winterizing an abandoned home.
Federal Mortgage Servicing Laws and Foreclosure Protections
Under federal mortgage servicing laws, the servicer must contact, or attempt to contact, you by phone to discuss loss mitigation options, like a loan modification, forbearance, or repayment plan, no later than 36 days after you miss a payment and again within 36 days after each following delinquency. No later than 45 days after missing a payment, the servicer has to inform you in writing about loss mitigation options that might be available and appoint personnel to help you try to work out a way to avoid foreclosure. A few exceptions are in place for some of these requirements, though, like if you’ve filed bankruptcy or asked the servicer not to contact you pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. (12 C.F.R. § 1024.39, 12 C.F.R. § 1024.40).
Federal mortgage servicing laws also prohibit dual tracking (pursuing a foreclosure while a complete loss mitigation application is pending).
youtube
What Is a Breach Letter?
Many Utah deeds of trust have a provision that requires the lender to send a notice, commonly called a “breach letter,” informing you that the loan is in default before the lender can accelerate the loan. The breach letter gives you a chance to cure the default and avoid foreclosure.
When Can Foreclosure Start?
Under federal law, the servicer usually can’t officially begin a foreclosure until you’re more than 120 days past due on payments, subject to a few exceptions. (12 C.F.R. § 1024.41). This 120-day period provides most homeowners with ample opportunity to submit a loss mitigation application to the servicer.
What Is the Foreclosure Process in Utah?
If you default on your mortgage payments in Utah, the lender may foreclose using a judicial or non-judicial method.
How Judicial Foreclosures Work
A judicial foreclosure begins when the lender files a lawsuit asking a court for an order allowing a foreclosure sale. If you don’t respond with a written answer, the lender will automatically win the case. But if you choose to defend the foreclosure lawsuit, the court will review the evidence and determine the winner.
If the lender wins, the judge will enter a judgment and order your home sold at auction.
How Non-judicial Foreclosures Work
If the lender chooses a non-judicial foreclosure, it must complete the out-of-court procedures described in the state statutes. After completing the required steps, the lender can sell the home at a foreclosure sale. Most lenders opt to use the non-judicial process because it’s quicker and cheaper than litigating the matter in court.
Preforeclosure Requirements Under Utah Law
Much like the requirement under federal mortgage servicing laws, after determining that the loan is in default, the servicer or lender must appoint single point of contact who can provide information about the foreclosure and foreclosure relief. (Utah Code Ann. § 57-1-24.3).
Before filing a notice of default, the lender or servicer must mail a notice to you (the borrower) giving you at least 30 days to cure the default by getting current on the loan. The letter will also include the name, telephone number, email address, and mailing address of the single point of contact. (Utah Code Ann. § 57-1-24.3). This information will likely be included in the breach letter.
Notice of Default
The non-judicial foreclosure process formally begins when the trustee records a notice of default at the county recorder’s office. The notice of default gives you three months to cure the default. (Utah Code Ann. § 57-1-24).
Within ten days of the recording, the trustee mails a copy of the notice of default to anyone who has requested a copy. Most deeds of trust in Utah include a request for notice, so you’ll probably get this notification. (Utah Code Ann. § 57-1-26(2)(a)).
Notice of Sale
If you don’t cure the default, after three months, the trustee will record a notice of sale and:  Mail a copy to you at least 20 days before the sale (if your deed of trust includes a request for notice, which it probably does)  Publish notice of the sale in a newspaper, and  Post notice about the sale on the property at least 20 days before the sale. (Utah Code Ann. § 57-1-26(2)(b), § 57-1-25).
The Foreclosure Sale
At the sale, the lender usually makes a credit bid. The lender can bid up to the total amount owed, including fees and costs, or it may bid less. In some states, including Utah, when the lender is the high bidder at the sale but bids less than the total debt, it can get a deficiency judgment against the borrower, subject to some limitations. If the lender is the highest bidder, the property becomes what’s called “Real Estate Owned” (REO).
But if a bidder, say a third party, is the highest bidder and offers more than you owe, and the sale results in excess proceeds—that is, money over and above what’s needed to pay off all the liens on your property—you’re entitled to that surplus money.
How Long Do You Have to Move Out After Foreclosure in Utah?
If you don’t vacate the property following the foreclosure sale, the new owner will probably:  Offer you a cash-for-keys deal, or  Take steps to evict you.
The eviction process starts with a notice to quit. If you still don’t leave by the deadline given in the notice, the new owner will go through the court system to evict you. (Utah Code Ann. § 78B-6-802.5).
HOW CAN I STOP A FORECLOSURE IN UTAH?
A few potential ways to stop a foreclosure include reinstating the loan, redeeming the property before the sale, or filing for bankruptcy. (Of course, if you’re able to work out a loss mitigation option, like a loan modification, that will also stop a foreclosure.)
Reinstating the Loan
Utah law gives you three months after the trustee records the notice of default to reinstate the loan. (Utah Code Ann. § 57-1-31). Also, the deed of trust might give you more time to reinstate. Check the paperwork you signed when you took out the loan to find out if you get more time to get caught up on past-due amounts and, if so, the deadline to reinstate. You can also call your loan servicer and ask if the lender will let you reinstate.
Redeeming the Property before the Sale
One way to stop a foreclosure is by “redeeming” the property. To redeem, you have to pay off the full amount of the loan before the foreclosure sale.
Some states also provide foreclosed borrowers with a redemption period after the foreclosure sale, during which they can buy back the home. Under Utah law, however, foreclosed homeowners don’t get a right of redemption after a non-judicial foreclosure. (Utah Code Ann. § 57-1-28(3)).
Filing for Bankruptcy
If you’re facing a foreclosure, filing for bankruptcy might help. In fact, if a foreclosure sale is scheduled to occur in the next day or so, the best way to stop the sale immediately is by filing for bankruptcy. Once you file for bankruptcy, something called an “automatic stay” goes into effect. The stay functions as an injunction, which prohibits the lender from foreclosing on your home or otherwise trying to collect its debt, at least temporarily.
In many cases, filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy can delay the foreclosure by a matter of months. Or, if you want to save your home, filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy might be the answer. To find out about the options available to you, speak with a local bankruptcy attorney.
Compromise
If a lender is preparing to foreclose on your home, they will first present you with an NOD, or Notice of Default. They also have to schedule a time for auction for your home. During this in-between period before the auction takes place, know that lenders will almost always work out a financial compromise that will allow you to get back on your mortgage program without foreclosure. Any final compromises you might be able to make should be suggested at that time.
Short Sale
If you receive an offer from a buyer between receiving your NOD and the auction date, the lender must consider it. They may view this option as a time-saver that nets them virtually the same result – after all, they’d already be turning around to re-sell the home anyway. This is called a short sale, and there are plenty of situations where it can work as an acceptable compromise for both sides.
Assumption/Lease-Option
Most loans these days are not assumable, but if you are facing foreclosure, there’s a chance your lender could be willing to modify your loan. They might be willing to allow another buyer to assume your loan if this means less hassle for them – if you can negotiate a down payment from the new buyer that pays off your outstanding balance plus assumes the loan at no additional risk to the lender, everyone wins.
Foreclosure Protections and Military Service members
The Service members Civil Relief Act provides legal protections to military personnel who are in danger of foreclosure.
Utah Deficiency Judgment Laws
In a foreclosure, the borrower’s total mortgage debt sometimes exceeds the foreclosure sale price. The difference between the total debt and the sale price is called a “deficiency.” For example, say the total debt owed is $600,000, but the home sells for $550,000 at the foreclosure sale. The deficiency is $50,000. In some states, the lender can seek a personal judgment against the debtor to recover the deficiency. Generally, once the lender gets a deficiency judgment, the lender may collect this amount—in our example, $50,000—from the borrower.
In Utah, the lender can get a deficiency judgment after a non-judicial foreclosure by filing a lawsuit within three months of the sale. (Utah Code Ann. § 57-1-32). The deficiency amount is limited to the difference between the lesser of :  Your total debt and the property’s fair market value or  Your total debt and the foreclosure sale price. (Utah Code Ann. § 57-1-32).
How to Find State Foreclosure Laws
To find Utah’s laws, search online for “Utah statutes” or “Utah laws.” Make sure you’re reading the most recent, official laws. Usually, the URL will end in “.gov” or the statutes will be on an official state legislature webpage.
Although the programs under the Making Home Affordable (MHA) initiative have expired, the MHA website still contains useful information for homeowners facing foreclosure.
Getting Help
How courts and agencies interpret and apply laws can change. And some rules can even vary within a state. These are just some of the reasons to consider consulting a lawyer if you’re facing a foreclosure. If you have questions about Utah’s foreclosure process or want to learn about potential defenses to a foreclosure and possibly fight the foreclosure in court, consider talking to a foreclosure attorney.
For people struggling with mortgage payments and at risk of default and foreclosure on a home, declaring bankruptcy can be a viable option in some cases. Bankruptcy attorneys can walk you through when declaring and might help save your home and preserve your equity.
Free Initial Consultation with Lawyer
It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. Legal problems come to everyone. Also, most people who take out a loan to buy a residential property in Utah sign a promissory note and a deed of trust, which is like a mortgage. These documents give homeowners some contractual rights in addition to federal and state legal protections.
In a Utah foreclosure, you’ll most likely get the right to:
 A preforeclosure notice

 Receive certain foreclosure notices
 Get current on the loan and stop the foreclosure sale
 Receive special protections if you’re in the military
 Pay off the loan to prevent a sale
 File for bankruptcy, and
 Get any excess money after a foreclosure sale.
If you don’t cure the default, after three months, the trustee will record a notice of sale and:
 Mail a copy to you at least 20 days before the sale (if your deed of trust includes a request for notice, which it probably does)
 Publish notice of the sale in a newspaper, and
 Post notice about the sale on the property at least 20 days before the sale.
If you don’t vacate the property following the foreclosure sale, the new owner will probably:
 Offer you a cash-for-keys deal, or
 Take steps to evict you.
§ 57-1-32). The deficiency amount is limited to the difference between the lesser of :
 Your total debt and the property’s fair market value or
 Your total debt and the foreclosure sale price.

Stopping Foreclosure In Utah
Tumblr media
In a Utah foreclosure, you’ll most likely get the right to:
 A preforeclosure notice
 Apply for loss mitigation
 Receive certain foreclosure notices
 Get current on the loan and stop the foreclosure sale
 Receive special protections if you’re in the military
 Pay off the loan to prevent a sale
 File for bankruptcy, and
 Get any excess money after a foreclosure sale.
If you don’t cure the default, after three months, the trustee will record a notice of sale and:
 Mail a copy to you at least 20 days before the sale (if your deed of trust includes a request for notice, which it probably does)
 Publish notice of the sale in a newspaper, and
 Post notice about the sale on the property at least 20 days before the sale.
If you don’t vacate the property following the foreclosure sale, the new owner will probably:
 Offer you a cash-for-keys deal, or
 Take steps to evict you.
§ 57-1-32). The deficiency amount is limited to the difference between the lesser of :
 Your total debt and the property’s fair market value or
 Your total debt and the foreclosure sale price.

A MIDNIGHT STORY
There was a recent interview of Oprah Winfrey by Gayle King.   They are such friends. This got me thinking, and I did a bit of research to find out more about them since they seem so bonded.  I especially wanted to find any information about O and her business that are not in the public forum.  During the research, I was reminded of Oprah’s acting ability (remember her in Color of Purple? She was highly praised for that movie.)  One of her quotes to Gayle has been called out here on Tumbler about her not prying into people’s family affairs. But hey, isn’t that how she became famous on her television show?  Interviewing celebrities and getting them to reveal their personal love life, family relationships, etc.  Yes, Oprah is an actress.  She is also a very smart, astute businesswoman.
Remember when someone sighted a device on Oprah’s ankle at the time of the interview, and folks wondered if it was a monitor for house arrest.  No it was not.  With all the recent questions about the so called square device that seems to pop out of MM clothes, there are portable transmitters that are used for reality TV. They can be attached to your waist, ankle, arm, and have a microphone hooked to them. They then transmit “natural conversation to a recorder off site”. I think Oprah had one of those monitors on her ankle to capture her voice, and both PH and MM each had one on them to catch their voices.  Just my speculation mind you. Oprah seems so obsessed to get an interview about the Royals anyway she can. I think that interview was definitely planned in advance.
In my research, I also found that the irreverent Kitty Kelley did an unauthorized biography of Oprah, published in 2010. I have never read it, but prior to publication (2010), Kitty did a phone interview that I found archived.  Several quotes about Oprah matched MM’s behavior completely.  I have posted parts below. (Periods are mine where I have deleted content.  Bolding is mine.) It seems like MM is using Oprah’s life style as an example for her life. I don’t think she will be as successful as O though, but I could be wrong.
About Oprah’s family relationships:
“Kitty Kelley: (She details Oprah’s sister, brother, and mother. More below.)
Oprah has put great distance between herself and her biological family but she is immensely generous to them. She has retired her mother, …but Oprah won't give her mother her telephone number. They've never been close. Oprah has created her own celebrity family--one that she feels she deserves and gives her unconditional love. She's made Dr. Maya Angelou her mentor/mother; Gayle King her sister, Quincy Jones her uncle, Sidney Poitier her father.”
Any hidden information revealed:
“Kitty Kelley: After spending so much time studying Oprah's life I saw that she lived in a culture of secreccy, which was surprising for someone who appears to be open and spontaneous on television.”
Comment about the book by Kelley after no response from Oprah:
“Oprah's characterization of this book is not at all surprising, especially for a woman who needs to be in total control of what is written about her.”
About working for Oprah:
“Washington, D.C.: Do people actually like working for Oprah? I heard and read that she is not a nice person and that a lot of people that work for her are scared of her.
Kitty Kelley: As much as Oprah is adored, she is also feared. Some people who've worked for her admire her a great deal; others describe Harpo as a bult [cult]of narcissism. (sp?) Oprah pays well and demands hard work. She makes everyone within her employ at Harpo and O the magazine sign hammering confidentiality agreements NEVER to speak about her, discuss her personal relationships, the working conditions, her business relationships, etc. Some people broke those agreements to talk to me. Not all were negative by any means as you will see in the book.”
“Crossing Oprah.
I wouldn't recommend it as she's verrrrry powerful. However, you'd never have to worry about a screaming, shouting take down because Oprah doesn't react that way. When she's displeased, a curtain of ice falls and you never hear from her again.”
This is all for entertainment purposes. Just my midnight rambling. I care deeply about William and Catherine and others in the Royal Family. I hope they stay safe and keep going in the direction they are heading. Sadly, I worry about the direction and crap thrown at them from LA.  God save the King.

Stylish Instagram Bios for Girls(2022)
Hello friends , I hope you’re doing great in your life. If you’re searching for a stylish Instagram bio for girls or a stylish bio for Instagram, then you clicked on the correct website. In this post, I am going to share some of the best stylish Instagram bio for girls.
Tumblr media
Before sharing stylish Instagram bios, let’s understand what Instagram is.
What is Instagram?
Instagram is a very famous social media platform for sharing images and videos that was created in 2010 by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. After some time, Instagram, now known as Meta Platforms, was bought by Facebook Inc.
Users of the app are able to upload media that can be edited with filters and arranged using hashtags and geotagging.
Now let’s understand what an Instagram bio actually is.
What is an Instagram bio?
Instagram bios are brief statements about you or your company that show up beneath your username.

The Brothers Catch the MC Dancing/Singing By Themselves
So long 2020!!! I’ve been listening to nothing but End-of-Decade Mashups and the 2010s was the decade of club bangers, so excuse me as I write a little happiness at the end of this shitty, shitty year.
Lucifer
Lucifer was in his secret study with the door closed which usually would block out a lot of distractions, but…
The MC was out in the library just blasting this… awful noise!!
Okay, maybe the noise wasn't awful - but as a classical music man, he had no use for the electronic bleep-bloops of whatever the hell they called "music!"
He had tried to put up with it for about an hour… but he had his limits. Soon enough he could feel his fuse dwindling to nothing and he just HAD to open up the door and tell the MC to keep it down!
He just wasn't expecting to find them dancing… while belting their heart out using a feather duster as a microphone…
Oh… wasn’t this amusing~?
For once, Lucifer decided that work could wait for a minute or two as he leaned against the doorframe to watch the MC do their thing, his smile could only be described as somewhere between being highly entertained and genuinely smitten with the off-key goofball in front of him...
The look went away real quick after the MC finally noticed he was there and dropped the feather duster like it was on fire. Shame… They were acting so cute before...
He still had a knowing smile on his face when he asked them to turn their music down some, but he didn’t blow up at them or anything… What can he say? He enjoyed the show. 😏
Mammon
The MC has a nasty habit of singing under their breath when they’re bored. Mammon knew this, of course, and he never stopped straining to try and hear their quiet notes whenever he could...
It was hard to do since they had long trained themselves to keep it quiet in public, but he was certain that from what he could hear, he certainly wouldn’t mind listening to more!
The only exception was when they thought they were alone… like in their bedroom doing homework for example.
Mammon had just happened to pass by their bedroom door (and not going there directly just to bother them because he felt lonely or anything...) and heard something through the door…
It sounded like the MC but different… rhythmic and melodic… That was it!! They were singing!!!
He knew he had to be careful about this... If the MC realized he was listening, then they’d stop and leave him high, dry, and wanting more...
He had to push their bedroom door in incredibly gently so it wouldn’t make any noise… The House was old - okay scratch that, ancient - and all the doors have a creak to them if you’re not careful… but oh, was it worth it…
He knew, he just knew, that he would like their voice! Good or bad, it was all them! Why did they also sing so quietly?? He felt like he could listen for hours!
And he just might have gotten the chance if he had been paying enough attention to notice that he was leaning ever closer into the doorway... The second those rusted hinges made a creak, the MC whipped around and snapped their mouth shut.
Busted...
Unfortunately, no amount of begging got the MC to start singing for him again, so he had to go back to the drawing board… Maybe he’d get to hear them again someday… right?
Leviathan
Levi had been looking for the MC for some time now to see if they wanted to play a game with him but he wasn’t finding them in any of their usual hangouts…
Their bedroom was the last place for him to check and when he stuck his head in he didn’t see them there… But he did heard the sound of running water from their personal bathroom.
He was going to leave, honest! He wasn’t going to be one of those creeps who listens to people shower (despite absolutely being perverted enough to do so) but he recognized a familiar riff coming from the room…
He knew it anywhere. It was from one of his favorite anime openings of all time!! And what’s more? He heard a new voice joining the singer like accompaniment… It was… the MC??
Levi could have probably fainted from delight right then. Even if the MC wasn’t as good at singing, the mere fact that they were singing that opening made his heart soar! Who doesn’t love to sing along to their favorite songs??
He probably should have thought a bit more before throwing the door open to belt out his favorite part like he did because, you know, even behind a shower curtain the MC was naked and definitely not expecting him... But, hey, for five whole seconds they sounded great together!
Annnnd then he ran out of the room, red-faced and shouting semi-mortified apologies right after he realized what he could have seen by doing that (*cough*nakedMC*cough*)...
Poor Levi, but at least he just scored himself a new karaoke partner!
Satan
You ever been so happy about something you just want to go for a run? Or even better, dance? That seemed to have been the case for the MC that day...
The MC’s least favorite subject had just had a test and they received their scores before leaving the classroom the next day. He knew they must have been anxious by how nervously they clutched their paper...
They had been getting tutoring help from him for weeks and it really must have paid off! Satan wasn’t able to catch up to them before they checked their score, but the way their face lit up was a good sign at least.
He was on his way to go congratulate them when… they started to dance. Right in the middle of the school. They kicked up the music on their phone then started dancing down the hallway like nothing could stop them!
It was such a random and carefree act that it frankly blew him away... You’d think a human in a school full of demons would be running, maybe even hiding, but certainty not dancing! What even was their human sometimes...??
He had to hold in some laughter to keep from getting noticed and just followed them down the hallways with a grin on his face and his phone in his hand…
He, of course, posted it to the brothers’ group chat and all of them got to see the wonderful view of the MC shaking their ass to their favorite song of all time… Oh, and they aren’t going to forget that, like, ever. Devious little shit...
Asmodeus
Asmo loves to go clubbing so dancing is just an enjoyable pastime for this man, but he never thought that he’d end up dancing in a dressing room... 🤷‍♀️
He and the MC were on their weekly trip to Majolish and the MC was behind some curtains in order to try on a new outfit he put together for them. Usually during these times, Asmo waits out in front of their stall distracted by his phone, but this time he actually noticed something...
The MC’s feet. He could see them behind the gap of the curtain moving along to the music playing through the store’s speakers… So they liked this song, hm...?
Honestly, Asmo couldn’t help himself. He ended up getting up from his seat and pulling back the curtain a tiny crack just to see what the MC was doing in their stall... Thankfully, they were already dressed, but they were indeed dancing by themselves hidden just out of his sight...
Now, how could he let them dance all by their lonesome~?
Asmo slipped into the stall himself and caught the MC by the hips, frankly any protest they might of had didn’t really last long as he guided their body along with his.
It was far from their first time dancing together and it always felt amazing when they did… Their every move fit together perfectly like a call and response and it didn’t take long for them to get lost in the music.
Eventually, a store employee began to wonder why they were in there for so long and eventually found two sets of feet in one stall… Really, they got off lucky, because knowing Asmo it was kind of amazing that dancing was all he was doing back there!
Asmo was a far too valuable customer for the store to kick out, so the two of them just got a warning not to do it again but man was it worth it…
The MC has to wear that outfit to their next club. No exceptions!! 😌
Beelzebub
You know, sometimes you just got a rhythm and beat in your soul and it pops out at the most random times… like in the middle of cooking!
Beel was coming into the kitchen looking for yet another snack for the day when he caught the MC already in there baking and… dancing?
They had their phone out to play music while they worked, hips swaying to the beat. Hell, everything they were doing was set to that pace! Every flick of the whisk and stir of the batter was just a part of their private dance sequence.
For a second, he had to wonder if he had just stepped into a musical or something? Dancing while cooking? He hadn’t seen any of his brothers mix those things before… but it worked?? Like, they made it look natural and even a little fun!
Just imagine the look on the MC’s face when Beel came up behind them and pulled them into a twirl behind the counter. It caught them so off-guard that a bag in their hands slipped and covered them both in powdered sugar!
Not that Beel cared about the mess because he just licked his lips clean and told the MC not to stop what they were doing... Which was how the others found them both covered in sugar and moving to the beat while the MC was icing the cake they just finished. 🤷‍♀️
Lucifer ended up lecturing them both about being more careful in the kitchen but they were too busy sneaking smiles to each other to pay much attention...
Sometimes the music just moves you, you know?
Belphegor
Belphie very rarely gets up from his naps without a little help. Sure, even his body needs to wake up eventually, but it normally takes some kind of outside force to drag him back to the world of the living...
So imagine his surprise when he seemingly woke up for no reason in the middle of his afternoon nap with MC… Or well, he thought there wasn’t reason, until he started paying more attention.
The MC was cuddled up to him like usual, but he could feel a hum against his arm that was coming from their chest. Steady and slow… almost soothing.
When he finally heard a noise in the air - equally soothing as the humming and in time with the vibrations - he put two and two together… Were they singing right now?
Belphie kept himself very still and pretended to be asleep just to check his suspicions and… yeah. He could hear the MC softly singing a human world song under their breath.
Must have been a testament to how besotted this cow man was with them that even hearing their voice that quietly could pull him out of his dreams.
Eventually, Belphie just had to roll over and pull them up against his chest so he could hear them better... Of course, his movement just made them stop, but any idea that they were off the hook got swept away when they heard him grunt:
“Hey, you woke me up… Don’t stop now.”
Let’s hope they know a good lullaby or two...
