#hsr#honkai star rail#hsr 2.2#hsr spoilers#hsr leaks#the body of this post reads as far less enthusiastic than i really am#i just don’t know how to casually return from my latest 2 week hiatus only to gush abt a game i’ve hardly blogged abt before#but i’m not making a whole ass sideblog for it like i did for Genshin. nah y’all r gonna bear witness to my fixation with this one#so anyways don’t mind me. vibrating into another dimension with anticipation for the next 11 days#it’s insane man. a year ago i Never ever woulda thought i’d be so invested in this game. and it took Months for the game to really grab me#but i’m v glad i kept coming back even when i was struggling to really get into it. like i just had this feeling that if i stuck around and#gave the game a chance to really like. come into its stride. i just always felt like there was Something there and i just hadn’t found it#and holy shit i finally found it in Penacony. the devs really truly outdid themselves with this region and these characters and this story#not to discount everything that’s happened prior. like i was genuinely Liking it all before now but i wasn’t Loving it y’know#but that may be more a ‘me having to fight tooth n’ nail to force myself to consume new media’ thing than it is a matter of the actual game#anyways i came here to talk abt the program! bc since i’m not filming my HSR stuff i’m gonna be insufferable abt it on Tumblr instead ! :)#and i’m probably not filming any more Genshin stuff. or anything else at all for that matter but let’s not talk abt that dead dream#pun not intended lmao. Anyways let’s return to the subject at hand while there’s still room left in these tags shall we#i’m so fucking glad they had Aventurine on this program man. especially since he’s leaked to only have 18 lines in 2.2… it was nice to see-#-him here at least 🥹 i’ll take what i can get. his unenthusiastic little bird noises at the beginning.. him being reluctant to come out..#the way one of the first things to come out of his mouth was ‘y’know DR RATIO once told me…’ like boy we get it ur in love with him 🙄 (/J!)#i love how they can’t go on these programs w/o talking abt each other it’s adorable. AND THE WAY HE WAS THE ONE TO EXPLAIN BOOTHILL’S KIT!?#they can’t just fuel my crackship like this… god and his whole ‘muddle-fudger.. son-of-a-nice-lady?’ thing had me wheezing#Aven mocking Boothill’s inability to curse was not on my special program bingo card but fuck i’m here for it#and Robin being all curious abt him was so cute.. ‘who /is/ he? … does he order milk at the bar?’ i’m crying she’s so sweet#also the trailer was fucking insane. which feels redundant as hell bc all of HoYo’s version trailers go hard but like. still. wow.#that millisecond long shot of Boothill surveying the skyline is so fucking good. also what the fuck is Jing Yuan doing here!!#not complaining at all tho. we’ve got JY & DH(IL?). merman!jing yuan who insists on bathing you because you nursed him back to health and bathed him during the process. dragging you by your arm to a shallow area of the pool of water, you stumble in your steps, almost falling right in.
“jing yuan! easy there, boy,” you huff with a nervous smile, “you know i’m capable of bathing myself.” you hold his hands and gesture at the town in the distance. “hm, if you’re still anxious about me leaving, how about you grow your legs and accompany me at my lodging? like what you did last week!”
jing yuan doesn’t budge. his tail peeks out of the water, swooshing comically from side to side (he sort of reminds you of a dog) as he pouts. “mermen always return their favours. i will help you bathe before we return to the town.”
you nod your head enthusiastically. the bottom half of your dress is drenched by now. “y—yes, yes! but i can bathe by my-”
you are in the water.
innocent hands glide over your submerged legs, just feeling you out comforting you before he begins. “you assisted me in a time of need,” jing yuan reminds you, bringing your hand to his chest so you can feel the beat of his heart.
the heat rises straight to your cheeks.
“please let me bathe you,” he pleads in a murmur, now taking your hand up to his face so he can nuzzle his cheek into your warm and caring palm.
the merman is soft-spoken, but he’s also very aware of his own charms. the glint in his eye entices you into saying ‘yes’.
your willpower falters with every second you stare at jing yuan. such beautiful arctic hair, highlighted with soft grey undertones, a very chiseled upper body, his gentle hands that caress your thighs and that deep voice… oh dear, you can’t say no now.
“just my legs, i can take care of the rest.”
you press your palms onto the smooth pebbles beneath you when he takes one of your legs, pulling it out of the water to plant a soft kiss on the top of your foot. a whimper escapes your throat.
jing yuan’s eyes never leave yours. “what ever you wish.”

⊹ Gepard Landau
You honestly didn't have much to think about the Captain of the Silvermane Guards.
Aside from the due respect and mild admiration that just about everyone in Belobog held for him and his military group, you didn't have much else to say. The two of you had never even spoken.
The only connection you could possibly have to him was via his sister, Serval Landau. She was your friend (a tentative word for your situation, you surmise) and would often have him over at her store.
You also tended to lounge about the Neverwinter Workshop ("hanging out", Serval would call it, but you begged to differ), but you had never really paid him much mind, and you assumed he had paid you the same.
Serval's favorite nickname for you is "lounging stray" due to the way you came in and out as you pleased, staying only for food and rest when it was available.
The most you recall interacting with the imposing man was a hesitant wave when he had entered the shop while Serval was out.
After all, it would have been quite rude to completely ignore him—though, honestly, you never cared much for politeness, so you had always mulled that incident over in your head. Why had you greeted him?
About a week later, you were mildly surprised to see a bouquet of flowers in Serval's hands from Eversummer Florist.
It wasn't exactly an unusual assumption to make that the down-to-earth rock-and-roll enthusiast would have her share of admirers, but they were typically more forthcoming with their affections from what you'd observed.
But then, upon spotting you, she promptly shoved them into your arms, announcing that they had been addressed to you, not her.
You hadn't felt your face shift that much in years, nor had you ever experienced that level of shock before.
"Looks like someone has a secret admirer," Serval touted, tuning her guitar on the side with a smirk playing on her lips. Her tone was drawn out, knowing, as if this were some elaborate prank she was in on.
"Wow, Ball Peonies, even? What an expensive spread! Lucky Y/N!"
You didn't even spare her a glance as you took your usual seat in her workshop, thumbing one of the petals with mildly intrigued contemplation.
In your rush to lounge about the workshop and ignore your friend's loud teasing, you failed to notice Gepard at his sister's side, nor the way his ears turned red and he hurried to hush Serval.
"I don't get it," you murmured at last, both siblings' heads whipping over to you. "I don't talk to anyone. Except you, that is."
"Well, I didn't send them. Sorry, my little stray, but as much as I adore you, it's not in that way!"
You gave Serval an unamused raise of your brow, then huffed, mumbling a 'whatever' as you lay on the windowsill in the corner of the shop.
However, that pair of blue eyes sneakily noted that your attention was still taken with the flowers, far from your usual routine of pulling out your phone to scroll.
Eventually, you held them on your chest, deigning to stare out the window as you began drifting off into a half-conscious nap. Your rest, however, was awoken by the sound of loud whispering. Serval noticed the unimpressed look on your face and laughed, clapping her hands together before patting Gepard on the back, who looked thoroughly embarrassed. His face was bright red.
"Well, I gotta head out and run some errands! Keep Y/N company for me, huh, Geppie? They can get lonely."
You chose to ignore that last bit, raising your hand and waving at your friend who practically flew out the door.
An awkward silence settled over the room, which miffed you a bit. What did you have to feel awkward about? This had happened before with other people.
Even then, you weren't keen on breaking it. It seemed the Captain had other plans, though.
"Um..." Gepard spoke up from across the workshop, standing just a bit uncomfortably as he shifted from foot to foot. You glanced over your shoulder at him from where you lay, waiting for him to speak. "Sorry about Serval. She can be a bit much."
"I know," you replied simply, unable to meet his eye for some reason. "I'm in here a lot."
"I know," Gepard echoed. Then, his face went back to tomato-red. "Um, I mean, I see you around a lot in here whenever I visit. Not that I'm intentionally staring at you, or anything of that sort! I just notice—"
"It's okay, I got what you meant."
"Right! Right." The Captain shut himself up, thorough mortification making its way back to his face as he scratched the back of his neck. "S-Sorry, uh, for rambling."
"It's fine."
Well, this was getting painful.
You stunned yourself momentarily when you opened your mouth to speak back first.
"So, uh... How's being Captain and everything?" you murmured, almost too quiet for Gepard to hear. When he realized you had spoken first, his face brightened just a bit, though he still appeared to be fighting the humiliation off his face from his earlier verbal blunder.
"Well, how much would you like to hear about?"
You shrugged. "Anything, I guess. Got any cool stories from the front lines?"
The blonde man smiled, taking the chance to tentatively move closer, pulling over Serval's stool and taking a seat.
"Well..."
About ten minutes later, Serval had decided to spare her poor brother from any more awkwardness, completely sure that the workshop would be thick with silence due to his bashfulness and your nonchalance.
To her surprise, though, she heard muffled voices from within. Serval opened the door as carefully and quietly as she could, peeking her head in just enough to see a sight she never thought she'd see.
You were smiling, even laughing a bit, engaging in conversation about Gepard's duties and your own daily activities (even if there were little of those) from your place on the sill. Her brother seemed to be enjoying himself too, gesturing with his hands as he talked up his own underlings' achievements in battle.
The eldest Landau watched for only a moment longer before shutting the door softly.
"I should go get something to eat... give them a little space."
Tumblr media
⊹ Jing Yuan
You liked to call your relationship to the General of the Luofu strictly professional at most.
To call it anything more, in your mind, would be disrespect of the highest order to the man who has defended the fleet for centuries.
Besides, you didn't know if you were exactly capable of anything beyond that. Even your limited friends agreed that you were just about as stoic as one could get.
You frequently heard of their debates with other workers within the Seat of Divine Foresight even as you worked—who was more difficult to approach, you or the General himself?
You scoffed to yourself whenever your so-called "friends" argued that you were, in fact, harder to speak to.
What's so wrong with being professional? If anything, you should be telling them off for gossiping in the workplace.
Still, you couldn't exactly argue with them.
Being the right-hand of the General was enough for you to learn his mannerisms even over a short time, though now, after serving at his side for several decades, you could confidently say he was far less intimidating than everyone made him out to be.
Not that you cared, of course. Strictly professional, you told yourself. His mannerisms had nothing to do with you unless they affected work.
Even with your indifference, though, the General was being... odd lately.
Jing Yuan let out an unabashed yawn as he slumped into his chair, tugging at his hair as he polished off the last of his paperwork.
For once, you thought to yourself with a huff of amusement, going through your own papers at an impressive speed. Read, approve or deny, sign, move on.
Considering he hadn't skimped on his own work, there was no real reason for you to be giving yourself early onset carpal tunnel as you typically did, but you figured it would be best to finish the work as soon as possible anyhow.
It meant less work tomorrow, the day after, and the day after that, for not only you but the other Luofu staff as well.
"...ey."
Your brain tuned out all other noise as you moved past yet another proposal, flicking to the next page of your increasingly shrinking stack.
"Lady Y/N. Hello?"
You ignored the growling within your stomach. After this is done, you thought to yourself, I'll treat myself to a meal at home.
"Lady Y/N."
You jumped nearly ten feet out of your seat at the low voice whispering in your ear, clapping a hand over the side of your head as red-hot mortification set in. You glanced to your side to spot the culprit—none other than your General, Jing Yuan.
Had he just whispered into your ear?! The feeling of his warm breath still lingered.
"General!" you shouted, taking a deep breath as you tried to reel back your attitude and present yourself with decorum, as always. "I am working on these proposals, so if you could please refrain from pulling pranks, it would be much appreciated."
Jing Yuan gave you a wry smile, raising his hands innocently.
"Is part of your job description not answering to me?" he asked unfeignedly, golden eyes twinkling. "I called your name about ten times."
"Well, yes, but..." You raised a brow a moment later. "Surely not ten. I heard my name a total of twice."
"So you were listening." You heaved a sigh. Ever stubborn, he was. "Does that mean you were consciously ignoring me? My, the gall, Lady Y/N."
"Not at all, General," you assured. "Only absorbed in my duties. Now, do you need something of me?"
Jing Yuan tapped his chin, settling into the seat next to you and stretching out. He didn't get too comfortable, though, you discerned. Was he planning to head out for the night?
"Well, yes, I suppose I do. I'm sure you'll only listen if it's a direct order from me, after all."
"Of course, General. I am at your beck and call." He chose to ignore the edge of sarcasm in your voice as you resumed your proposals, trying to finish as many as you could before he announced his task.
"Lady Y/N, I'd be delighted if you would join me for a meal. Anywhere of your choosing, and it will be my treat."
"Right, of course. It will be done, General," you mused half-heartedly, before your froze in your tracks, hand stilling midway through a signature. "...Wh—"
"Fantastic. Then I will await you at the door," Jing Yuan smiled again, and you felt yourself welling up with exasperation at the cockiness displayed in it. "Please don't keep me waiting too long, Lady Y/N. Those proposals can always wait one more day, but I am short on time myself."
You were about ready to protest, dropping your pen as you nearly rose to your feet. Your face was hot.
"General, I—!"
"You wouldn't think of backing out after agreeing so openly, would you?" the white-haired man teased, and then, after contemplating for a moment, he held out a hand. "In fact, why don't we depart right now? Just so I can be sure you won't get absorbed in doing more advance work."
He had completely trapped you. You furrowed your brow in disbelief, and then heaved a deep, long sigh. Finally, after leaving him to stand and await your decision for just a few moments longer, you took his hand.
"Very well. But General, if I may..."
"Of course, my dear."
You flushed again, but remained steadfast in your words.
"To make up for this trickery, please do not skip out on your paperwork again."
Jing Yuan's low, rumbly laughter caused you to look away, lest your feelings show on your face. He still did not let go of your hand.
"I suppose that is only fair. You have a deal, Lady Y/N."
Tumblr media
⊹ Sampo Koski
You would be completely remiss to allow anyone to refer to you and Sampo as acquaintances, much less friends.
Although the two of you had grown up fairly close, he allowed you no clemency from his constant scams.
It turned into more of a game for him as time passed, though—your natural stoicism and good head on your shoulders didn't allow any of his jabs or tricks to pull through.
That was perhaps what kept him stuck like glue to your side all these years, though... The fact that you were the one person he couldn't quite swindle.
Not that he actually wanted to, anyhow.
As much as Sampo was a slimy businessman in the eyes of pretty much everyone, he didn't seek a profit from someone as close as you. Well, not unless he did you a favor first, of course, but that's basic reciprocation.
You, on the other hand, found yourself perplexed as of late.
Sure, you had known Sampo for practically your whole life, but getting close to someone or being close by birth didn't make you any less inclined to cut them off if they interfered with your life to a degree that you found to be annoying.
You enjoyed the predictable, the mundanity of your daily life working as a trainee doctor under Natasha. You didn't need anyone in your life who might throw a wrench into the ordinary you currently enjoyed.
So why was Sampo the exception?
It was a fairly typical, ordinary, boring evening when you walked into the clinic—12am sharp, just as Natasha had requested of you. You were frankly quite lucky that she didn't ask more of you, but you supposed she was already pushing her own ability to ask favors of you by requesting you watch the overnight patients while she rested.
You didn't mind, of course. You'd always been a bit of a night owl, especially with the somewhat perpetual darkness of the Underworld thanks to Belobog looming over top of you.
Not to mention, you and Sampo had always spent most of your time together in the evenings anyways, the nighttime routine well suited to both of your sleeping schedules.
You felt a twinge of annoyance shoot through you at the thought of the blue haired man, and quickly placed a hand to your forehead between bandage changings for the patient on the table.
There he was again. Sampo, Sampo, Sampo!
Though you could usually push him out of your mind without a second thought, it was beyond you why he was suddenly popping into your brain more nowadays.
Sometimes it was a mere, 'I wonder what Sampo is up to right now. Not more trouble, I hope.'
Sometimes it was something more bordering worry, and those passing thoughts irritated you the most. What did you care? If he got hurt, it would likely be justified in the wake of one of his scams.
You could rationalize those ideas with the notion of not wanting more work at the clinic should he get injured, but even that was weak. Sampo deigned to avoid Natasha for his own wounds, not wanting to burden the leader of Wildfire, likely more out of fear than actual selflessness.
Still, though—
"Heeeey, Y/N! Miss me?"
Speak of the devil, and he shall appear.
"What do you want, Koski?" Your tone was flat, not even sparing him a glance as you moved to your next patient. Changing bandages again, a simple routine that could hopefully keep your mind occupied this time.
"So cold..." You could hear the beginnings of a pout on his lips, finding yourself sighing irritably. "I came to see you, after all!"
Your hands paused for a moment, stilling. A minute tremble in his voice. You whipped your head around to focus your sharp eyes on him, and he winced back, his typical happy-go-lucky smile faltering.
"H-Hey, what's the matter? Helping Miss Nat out with some late night patients aga—"
"Show me," you ordered, finishing the bandage you were currently on and standing up, moving towards Sampo with your arms crossed. He backed up, hands raised in surrender.
"Whaddya mean, I'm— Ouch!"
The conman couldn't help the yelp he let out when his back made contact with the wall, wincing painfully as his wound hit the hard surface. You raised a brow, unimpressed.
"Shirt off, Sampo Koski. Now."
"Woah, woah, at least take me to dinner first!"
Your glare worsened into something stormy as you pointed at the chair nearby.
"Sit down, shirt off, now. Don't make me repeat myself again."
With the face of a wounded puppy, Sampo slunk over to the chair, doing as you asked. He hissed through his teeth as the cloth of his outerwear dragged against the wound, the layers giving way to a deep trio of gashes on the skin of his back. Even with all your medical training, you found yourself cringing at the sight.
"So, Doc, what's the prognosis?" the man laughed weakly, still trying with his jokes even through his pain.
When you remained quiet, his smile fell, and he turned to look at you. If it were anyone else, you might've mistaken that frown for concern.
"Y/N? You... okay?"
"Be quiet," you huffed out at last, grabbing your rolling table of medical supplies and bringing it around, pulling out a chair as you began to inspect the wounds. "What was it this time?"
"Ah, you know, same old, same old! Just some disgruntled robots, not too keen on letting me make a profit with their buddy's parts!"
"You're an idiot."
The usual Sampo would've shot back with some witty or flirty one-liner that was sure to earn him a smack over the head, but when he heard the slight tremble to your voice, he decided it'd be best to keep his mouth shut for now.
"This'll sting. Don't shout, or you'll wake the other patients."
He bit his lip, expecting a harsh serving of antiseptic, but your hands were... gentler this time. You tenderly cleaned the wound with a water-soaked cloth, and though it did sting a bit, it was far nicer than your usual tough treatments from the ire he earned getting injured all the time.
Soon after, he felt you gently patting the wound down with a soft towel, bandages following soon after that you reached around his torso to wrap around him.
Then, you reached for the pack of painkillers.
Sampo was quick to laugh nervously, pushing the pack away when you held it out to him along with a glass of water.
"Hey, hey! Thanks, Y/N, but I really shouldn't be using Miss Natasha's painkillers. Besides, with how sweetly and tenderly you just patched me up, I'm feeling better already!" he fake-swooned, clasping his hands together like a maiden in love to ham up his act.
You were far from impressed.
"You're a bad liar, Sampo Koski," you scoffed, shoving the water and pills past his defensive hands. "Take it. I can't convince you to stay here and actually rest for a change, so it's the least you can do."
When he still looked apprehensive, you swallowed your pride, lowering your gaze and averting your eyes as your face went just the tiniest bit pink.
"...For me."
Sampo honestly thought he misheard you for a moment, but he finally, hesitantly, took the medicine you offered. You led him over to the door, and he laughed breathlessly, finally giving you another smile as he shrugged his shirt and coat back on.
"All right, all right. I'll get out of your hair, and take these. Just for you."
The conman cackled and ran all the way down the alleyways as you shouted after him, fist raised. Once he had disappeared, though, you let it fall to your side, sighing again.
This time, there was a hint of fondness... but that was something else you would be remiss to admit to.

When Cuckoos Throw Ores [Yandere!Jing Yuan x Reader]
Tumblr media
Questionable Overview: After transmigrating to Teyvat, you and Jing Yuan had lived like family on your shared apartment as getting-by descenders. But, you made an error too grave. You hid the anonymous love letters you received from the person you should’ve trusted the most— and now you’ve got yourself a broken mind. [Fic written for May June]
CWs/tags: yandere themes, isekai, moments where you wish Jing Yuan just committed murder instead so it would hurt less, mentions of failed childbirth, nadia & vlad are adorable, implied hysteria, cute n' wholesome beginning w/ found family to "man... man.", gaslighting gatekeep is JY's passion.
Tumblr media
"I'm an adult, Jing Yuan! I think I have the right to leave as I please."
Have you ever been so incredibly fascinated by such a mundane object that all worldly noise drowns?
"The right to trample on my heart? To leave me to drown in my despair while you obsess over a single ore without a single thought for me? I must say, it doesn’t seem very sound. Stay put while I call for Doctor Baizhu."
Have you ever had your hand reach out ever so slightly without you realizing such? For your fingers to curl— for you to seize a trinket as though you were compelled by an existence— an idea higher than any mortal comprehension? As though it was fate? As though it was a fruit you weren't meant to take a bite off?
But the most mundane of all…
"There’s no need! Because great General and Emanator of the Hunt Jing Yuan—"
Have you ever lamented a life that "never" happened?
"— I have the right to mourn the happy ending you took from me!"
Tumblr media
Though those uninitiated will rehash the root of events in your arrival to the chasm, the most knowledgeable would start the accounts from your arrival to Teyvat.
You did not step foot alone.
When your worldline was destroyed, so, too, was Jing Yuan's.
Lady Ningguang greeted you both with a good measure of skepticism. You were both "descenders.", though it was soon made evident that your origins are different. He was from "Xianzhou Loufu," and you were from "Earth."  Course, despite your shared tragic circumstances, not everything shall be handed on a silver platter for unfortunate souls. Ningguang was kind enough to provide you both with a shared apartment complex near the fishing port and since then, you and Jing Yuan had a bond not so dissimilar from siblings. He got a job as a general, and your current position is a little more flexible than your previous one.
Whatever principles and studies were available in the previous realms you lived in, they were carried over in Teyvat. Each word circulating about Jing Yuan’s undefeated sword and lance techniques makes you smile; he, in turn, would enthusiastically applaud your sold artworks and STEM innovations. It makes you wholly embarrassed every time he makes what is supposed to be a celebration of his mission’s success into a congratulatory speech for what you’ve done in the same timeframe. Didn’t matter how minute it was. His comrades had already considered the long-standing tradition as a not-so-private joke.
His lack of personal praise worries you sometimes…
There’s a stark difference in your approach to this new life. You mourned for yours being gone; while he doesn’t speak much about his.
“No rush,” he'd say. “All truths shall reveal itself in due time.”
You know about his world, though vaguely. He has a striking resemblance to the character from Honkai: Star Rail. Course, that implies he had gone through similar ordeals as the character.
Tumblr media
“I am an old man, there is nothing for me to grieve.” He told you once. “I have… already witnessed comrades pass, and then some. Have you encountered the phrase: there are fates worse than death?”
Jing Yuan closed his eyes.
“I… find it easier to assume that it might be the only way to put old conflicts to rest.” He shook his head and downed his final shot of baijiu. Yuan sighed, tasting the aftermath in his breath.
“It’s better to put a permanence in death than another forced rebirth.”
He poured you a shot.
"Some memories are better left forgotten. And that applies to you, too."
Tumblr media
Whatever he said felt untranslatable to you, hence, you gave up on making more inquiries. If the day comes and he wishes to open up, you'll be there for him anyway.
Or so you thought.
“Heard you’re planning to add another medal to your jacket.”
Jing Yuan nearly halted from tying his long hair up. You watched his shoulders tremble, likely from trying to compose himself.
“Ha! You've heard a half-truth, I wasn't scheming on anything, it was merely handed to me.” His tone was calm, but you heard the well-hidden smugness.
You shrugged and sipped your coffee nonchalantly.
… You seriously wish his uniform didn't hug his form that good. Just staring at him makes the room feel degrees hotter.
You cleared your throat.
“I didn't say anything about schemes, Jing Yuan. Suspicious.”
“Oh?” He hummed, almost sultry for your ears.
…Curse him and his damn beatific smiles.
This playful banter is as natural as the dawn of day. Rather than spending the early morning getting ready for the day, you've both grown accustomed to teasing the other person. He, in his finely ironed uniform, and you, in your comfy pajamas.
“Since when have I besmirched my name by squandering time? Rude of you to imply that slothfulness rules over my life.” Jing Yuan joked before he moved another piece. “You wound me, dear (Y/n).”
Due to the nature of the conversation, you hadn't thought of your next move much as you continued to probe him. “And what exactly are you doing right now instead of reporting to the Qixing, General?”
He smirked. “I am on-duty, am I not?”
“By talking to me?”
“I have been bound by mundane duties in both my past and current lives, and I must say, engaging with a Person of Interest such as yourself has not only been productive but also mentally stimulating.”
You paused.
Person of Interest…?
Might as well curse him and his fancy cursive way of implying something too.
Your nose scrunched. “Are you saying I'M on the Qixing’s watchlist?!—”
“Not in a bad light; don’t worry your pretty head over such menial matters,” he ruffled your hair as he craned over, gazing at your disgruntled morning expression with a loving vigor. “They have an eye for your talent. No Ministry would ever obsess over a clean criminal record.”
You grumbled as you attempted to fix your hair, despite lacking any energy. “Thanks, that calms me down. Especially with the talks about criminal activity on the rise and all.”
He laughed at your snarkiness.
“Is this your best attempt at prying information? I must say, your current occupation suits you. I can now place a finger as to why the thought of Lady Ningguang hiring you as a profiler put me in tremendous unease.”
“Oh don’t be a prick, Yuan.” You chuckled heartily as you gave him a playful slap— which he no doubt avoided. “But seriously, can’t you tell me more about what’s happening?”
There were no further words needed. Such rumors had been on the forefront of the people’s minds: a group of rogue “mercenaries” had found new temptations in banditry— and had the nerve to stew misfortunes on the main harbor itself. As a newly enforced general, Jing Yuan had, of course, been subjected to handling this situation under the ever-watchful gaze of the Qixing. A challenge, as he likes to label it. Whatever helps him sleep at night, you’d reply.
Although, it would certainly soothe YOUR insomnia better if he were to divulge even a hair-sliver of detail in regards to how “safe” this mission truly was.
“(Y/n), there is no cause for concern.” He pulled back, placing his hands on your shoulders. “You know my repertoire— else I wouldn’t consider you a close friend.”
Your heart ached for a second.
In small snippets from the multiple conversations you’ve had with him, you knew he kept his list of close friends few. There’s always a hint of guilt in his voice when he talks about those named Baiheng, Jingliu, Yingxing, and Dan Feng in passing.
“And I’m just worrying over you,” you lightheartedly glared and waved your hand dismissively. “You know, like a real close friend.”
You both grinned in unison as if telling each other that neither would back down from this “argument” any time soon. He snorted and messed your hair up more. Over the time you’ve spent in each other’s company, your near-telepathic way of conversing has become quite an eerie issue for other mutual friendships.
Not that either of you minded this. It’s always nice to be understood.
“I know that look in your eye. Don’t add a part two from last night’s horror stories, please.”
“Then, I’ll take my leave,” he buttoned his jacket. “Last reminder before I go: you have arranged a meeting with Nadia this afternoon.”
“Thanks,” you huffed. “But unlike you, I don’t sleep in and forget my schedule.”
You swore that even after the door was closed, you heard him chuckle yet again. After that, he was gone.
Honestly, with someone with a “life-loving” temperament like him, you’re unsure if he’s easy to please— or too damn good at faking it for his good.
You heard soft knocks against your window.
Slowly, a grin forms on your lips.
“Hello, little man…” You cooed as you stood up and opened for not only the fresh Liyue morning breeze to enter…
But for a diligent little cuckoo bird to deliver its very special package as well.
You’ve always had a soft spot for animals…
“Hmm?”
Your eyes softened as it dropped its parcel and leaned its body against you, warming itself by sitting cozily on your window ledge. This little bird is quite the skilled messenger— always dropping by as soon as Jing Yuan takes his leave. As to why it suspiciously arrives as soon as he is gone, you’re unsure. Such a sneaky creature; you can’t help but adore it.
That’s not to say its deliveries are not as equally charming.
You chuckled as you elegantly unwrapped the ribbon. The letter was elegantly written in a scrawl you’ve familiarized even with eyes closed for the past months, yet it still holds an intensity that makes your heart flutter.
There it was. The two words that keep you going better than any coffee brew.
“My dearest, (Y/n),….”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Another letter from Vlad, I’d hope?” You sneaked from behind.
Nadia yelped, hitting you almost immediately. The delay was surely from being on a lovelorn cloud-nine, but her Fatui training that earned her last name definitely should’ve made you double-think.
You shriveled at the pain and she awkwardly cradled you.
“Oh shucks— I’m so sorry, (Y/n)! I-I didn’t realize it was y-y— Don’t scare me like that!”
“Sorry! Sorry!” You hissed, blaming only yourself for the stinging aftermath. “I-I’ll get over it.”
Nadia guided you to the empty seat beside her. As soon as you were seated, she wasted no time to spill.
“The contents were far too adorable for my heart, oh, dear Tsaritsa, you NEED to read this.”
An eyebrow was raised. Saying you had a suspicion that something like this would happen would be an understatement— when it came to Nadia, it was more like routine. It had been regular for you and her to get together at least once a month to chat over letters that you both received. Nothing about the time you spent with her was dull. She's the reason you adapted to the Liyue way of life so well. As you were both foreign to the culture— you and Jing Yuan are admittedly the extreme cases— you and her were eager to recount experiences in times of distress. And times of pure unbridled lovesick joy, such as this.
“C’mon, pass it.” You tried to say cooly, but the glimmer in your eyes betrayed your high school-like excitement.
“Same time.” Nadia huffed. "Can't have you gatekeeping your own letter!"
You pulled out yours from your purse.
Nadia wasn’t the only one with something to present to the class. This is just like a teacher forcing students to read their discreetly passed notes out loud.
Nadia has her Vlad.
You have your Nay Jung I.
Instantly, you both suppressed a giggle in the abrupt exchange.
Nay Jung I. You know little about him, and that intrigue keeps the fire going. When you see a white cuckoo passing by the window, you immediately know it means well. A sight that makes your heart skip a beat. Instead of pushing eggs, it slips a love letter whenever Jing Yuan isn’t around. All coming from a man you can’t track down.
That’s right.
You have a secret admirer.
As you read through the middle of Vlad’s letter for Nadia, you heard your very-much-an-adult friend bite back a squeal in front of you. Nay Jung I may sound like a feminine name, but he was a man. You could’ve sworn you saw Xiangling laugh from the corner of your eye as Nadia tugged your sleeve around like a fool.
“Oh my God?! He wrote that?!” Her lips were akin to wobbly lines toddlers would draw when mimicking the sun’s rays.
“I find myself constantly catching glimpses of you in my daydreams, my mind flooded with what could be— what should be. Forgive me for my selfishness, but I fear it won’t take long before I can no longer bear the thought of being without you… What?! That’s so SWEET?!” Nadia clutched your love letter tightly, eyes wide as though she was the recipient.
Xiangling, bless her soul, had to peek behind her.
“I wish I could have the courage to reveal myself to you. When I doubt myself, my thoughts turn to you… Aww… I wonder who Mister Nay is and what did you do to get him this in love?” Xiangling playfully pouted, which made Nadia grin wider, almost teasing her. “Geez. When will I get a boy to send me letters?”
“I’m sure you’re going to get one or two someday. A way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, right?” Nadia shrugged as she folded the paper and hid it. “Plus, I fear you’re too young for this.”
“Careful, Dia, she’s the one preparing our food.” You joked.
Nadia has grown more friendly to locals for the better since you started sharing meals here. Everyone knows the feelings between her and Vlad were mutual— but neither of them was willing to confess. With Nadia hoping he initiates, and him densely hesitant on whether she reciprocates. One of them can end this phase should they abandon pride or cowardice.
But Nay Jung I?
You can’t find his records anywhere… And he had told you that it is a fake name by your fourth letter, much to your chagrin.
So, you’ve settled with this arrangement. For now, you are both friends, despite knowing he has feelings for you from the start.
“Mister Nay definitely has it bad for you, Mx. (Y/n).” She gave you a closed-eyed smile. “You need to write back immediately! The man’s probably starving for it!— Oh, right, the pot!!!”
As the chef rushed back after being distracted, you gave Nadia’s letter back to her.
“Any chance of rain?” You asked.
“Cloudy with negative one percent chance that I’ll run to Northland Bank and confess to Vlad.” Nadia spoke sheepish;y.
“That’s at least five percent higher than yesterday.”
“Well, this last letter was adorable.” She swooned.
“Mx. (Y/n), you seem incredibly free at the moment, care to have a chat?”
You turned to look at the new person who joined in.
Fur coat, a distinct mole placement, a sharp haircut, and eyes self-assured enough to conceal their need for urgent assistance, it has to be none other than—
“Miss Yelan,” you gave her a polite smile. “To what do we owe the pleasure?”
Nadia sat up straight, shifting to her work mode. “Is there some business you require from the Northland Bank?”
“I have no quarry with you, Madam Nadia, what I do want—” Yelan tilted her head, her eyes calculating. “Is to speak to (Y/n) in private.”
You paused, recalling the conversation you had this morning.
Tumblr media
‘I have been bound by mundane duties in both my past and current lives, and I must say, engaging with a Person of Interest such as yourself has not only been productive but also mentally stimulating.’
Tumblr media
Maybe this is what Jing Yuan was warning you about this morning.
“Fine, I concede.” You sighed, swiftly snatching your letter from Nadia’s hands and tucking it inside the pockets of your inner jacket.
“Lead me to where you most need me.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Over the years you’ve spent on Liyue, you’ve had another habit you’ve been nursing on the sidelines.
Epigraphy.
Better yet, it’s for the sole purpose of decoding ancient artifacts. Before you were transmigrated into Teyvat, you found that inspecting artifact descriptions and reading through lore strewn in notes and dialogues were a great part of what made playing Genshin Impact enjoyable. You devoured theories whether they were from YouTubers like Ashikai or other CCs who were eager to unravel and analyze myths from different civilizations. To be inside THE sandbox was the greatest treat. If your friends were here, you have no doubt you’d have plenty who’d look and try to pick apart Mister Zhongli’s brain.
Unfortunately, you never managed to catch his eye.
And the biggest misfortune of all, you caught Miss Yelan’s instead.
“It’ll take me a few weeks to decipher and solve this puzzle…” You told her hesitantly. “And I can’t guarantee anything either.”
Yelan only tilted her head. Strands of her hair hid her expression, and the only body language to be read was the way she played with the die on her fingers. You wondered if she was deciding your fate by giving it a roll…
You looked at the inscribed walls.
A man with horns… and his partner wearing a long hanfu… His partner… Reminds you of a beautiful cuckoo bird.
You sighed.
When she bargained for a chat in “private”, the Chasm was the last location you had in mind. Even more, it did not occur to you that she aimed to use you as a translator. For a language you only learned a few years ago.
You knew you couldn’t exactly deny a member of the Qixing, especially with how much you carried a moral debt for Lady Ningguang, so you agreed under the condition that Yelan wouldn’t snitch to Jing Yuan.
He might just give you the silent treatment if he found out you were here.
But back on the walls and the puzzle mechanism in the middle of the room…
Both were seated under the shade of a tree…
Each holding a cup of tea…
“Damn it, why me?” You cussed out loud.
You seriously want to tell her that she should’ve chosen Zhongli.
Not that you’d know that Yanfei begged Yelan to hire you for the job.
Yelan made her dice vanish. “If you need further assistance, and by that I meant necessities such as food and water, call for Wenyuan or Shanghua. They’ll materialize right in front of you.”
On the next wall, the horned man tightly held his partner, with tears falling from his eyes… His tail was more apparent in this depiction, but there were crystallized ambers and statues all around…
Like they were running…
Away from him…
You faced Yelan.
“Yelan, can’t you call for someone else—”
You blinked.
She was gone.
Tumblr media
You don’t like being here.
You don’t like this cave.
You’re not sure whether you liked the fact Yelan invited you here. On one hand, you were grateful for the opportunity, but at the same time, you thought yourself unqualified for whatever piece of ancient Liyuean history was waiting to bite you in the ass.
It didn’t take a genius to know that whoever the drawn man was, he was a force to be reckoned with. You played enough Genshin to know that yakshas are not to be trifled. If this ended up as an Azhdaha scenario, you wouldn’t want to be the nameless NPC who died along the way.
Should’ve commissioned the traveler.
As you progressed in your decoding, the texts were beginning to gnaw you.
Tumblr media
“Have you heard the tale of Lady ███ ███?”
Tumblr media
You trembled at the thought.
Curse Jing Yuan and his ghost stories.
The story wasn’t even that frightening.
What got you was how Jing Yuan sold them. He had preached it as though he had been a witness. It’s just a typical unnerving tale to keep children alert, but he had always been far more persuasive than you.
Tumblr media
“When she and her husband were out exploring, her husband left her while she sired his heir. He left her there to die.”
Jing Yuan’s eyes narrowed. You quietly applauded his commitment to the bit. Should you not know any better, you would’ve thought he hated that man more than anything.
Like he was seething with jealousy.
“Some claim he hid her there to fight for a war, some say it was out of love… In my eyes, it was an unforgivable neglect.”
Tumblr media
Jing Yuan claims sharing ghost stories was a common occurrence from when he used to teach his disciple. But you’re not an idiot. You can sniff out a reason why he loves to bring these stupid tales.
Tumblr media
“Days felt like a prison tally. She had forgotten what it felt to live in the sun.”
“She lived only by fulfilling basic needs. No matter how thick the mud was, no matter what was within the soil— all she could do was bitterly swallow what was to come. She bit her tongue on the ever-growing famine— and wished that her child would survive.”
Tumblr media
Jing Yuan does not want you anywhere near the chasm.
Tumblr media
“So when it was time to give birth, she had no assistance. She pushed her child out as hard as she could, and laid an empty egg.”
Before you could even ask why a human would lay an egg, Jing Yuan continued.
“But they both passed away.”
“Legends say, that’s the reason why the lumenstone ore glows. It contains the watchful gaze of a scorned mother and unborn child…”
“And if you aren’t careful, you too—”
Tumblr media
“Could be trapped inside it.”
You scoffed.
Was the tale stupid? Depends on who you ask. Was it sad? Sorta. Was the thought of two ghosts— possibly more— watching you as you were forcibly dispatched to read through The Chasm’s secrets terrifying? Given the dark and brooding atmosphere, it was a quiet yes.
“Hmm? I— I solved it…?”
You blinked.
Maybe you still retained your skills as a Genshin player. Anything for a luxurious chest is what you would’ve said. And yet, it still baffled you that one did appear.
When you unlocked it, you saw no “primogem” like you quietly hoped (it would be funny if you unlocked a wish function, but that’s unlikely…)
Instead, you found a dusty ore.
“Great.” You muttered dryly. “Just what I needed.”
It was amber in color, same as the clothes the man wore in the wall paintings. You’re at a loss on how you should report this to Yelan.
“Better than nothing.” You spoke, laughing slightly. That sounded like something Diluc would say. You should buy a dandelion wine after this hard work.
Quickly, you fished out the gloves in your pockets. It was made of nitrile, which should protect the ore from possible oil and moisture from your hands. Yelan was very insistent you wear it.
But as soon as you touched the ore…
Your consciousness slipped away.
Tumblr media
There was a man in front of you.
But you couldn’t see his face.
“Dearest ███ ███…” The horned man smiled delicately as he sipped his tea. “It has been centuries since our first wedding ceremony. Do be honest with me, do you still hold the same passion as before.”
These memories appear to you in a blur.
“No, I do not.” You heard your voice say as the man’s shoulders slowly deflated. His amber eyes looked down, and his smile began to strain.
With two fingers, you lifted his chin.
“If anything, my love for you has grown stronger,” you spoke. “For you and I shall never let our draconic instincts dull, and our union will be the greatest treasure we shall hoard in this never-ending flow of time.”
Tumblr media
“…/n…!”
Tumblr media
One hand took his scaley hand and the other held his cheek, caressing softly.
“Promise you shall return?” You heard yourself mutter, this time weak and hopeless.
He leaned against your palm, purring as though it might be the last time he’ll savor your warmth.
“You know I do not make promises, ███ ███.” He spoke firmly. “What I keep are contracts. And I have vowed to make you happy, for as long as I live.”
Tumblr media
“…(Y… (Y/n…. snap… out…!”
Tumblr media
“Contracts normally sound so cold, but your honeyed voice makes it sound so romantic.”
“You know well, my love, in all my years, I’ve witnessed endless contracts and agreements. Whether it was tangible or verbal— each one was a significant chapter to someone’s life.”
The horned man softly detangled your fingers from his long brown hair and kissed your hand.
“But only one brought forth complete change. Our matrimonial agreement. The contract we signed gave me the most happiness. I’ve never signed a happier contract than this one.”
“And I share the same sentiment.” You cooed, almost cheeky. “And I hope our future child shall feel our love as well.”
He rested his head on your shoulder and sighed.
“The day shall come, my love.” He spoke. “Just wait for me, until I fulfilled what the Heavenly Principles desires.”
“Of course,” you hugged him back.
“I shall wait for you, my dearest…
Tumblr media
“(Y/N)!!!”
You flinched.
Suddenly, you’re not in the mountains. You’re not hiding under the shade of a tree with warm-hued leaves. You were…
You were sitting on a patch of grass, just outside the chasm.
And Jing Yuan is mad.
He had a cold unmerciful glare. His built frame towered above you, casting a large shadow. It was already nighttime. Normally, only the moonlight and the lamps from afar should be the only source of light here, but his golden eyes seemed to glow. As though it was ready to call forth an entity you were not prepared to face.
You know the depths of his anger. Years of living inseparable from him has made every communication almost telepathic and that hadn’t changed. You can read it in his breaths, in his stiff and tall posture, in his unnerving gaze.
He is threatening you to spill. Saying without words that:
There are fates worse than death.
But your pulse was steady. But your breathing was calm. But your expression was blank.
You weren’t terrified.
And you can read that deep down, that scared the General more.
“Nay Jung I…”
For a moment, Jing Yuan’s eyes widened— as though there was something he was the only one privy to knowing. His face had a mix of surprise and disbelief before he steeled himself.
“Nay Jung I?” He scoffed.
“What of him?” Jing Yuan asked.
“He’s my soulmate.”
As soon as those words left your mouth, brief incoherent syllables sputtered out of his mouth. You evoked more emotions in him this time around. You saw flashes of shock, what seemed to be happiness, hope, and then utter confusion.
“...What?”
“I saw him.” You said, calm. “I saw him as soon as I touched that rock. My soulmate— he had long hair and eyes like a dragon— I think he was a dragon, and so was I. I think my soulmate is in Liyue and he’s hiding behind the name Nay Jung I.”
Jing Yuan opened his mouth, before thinning his lips.
This time, you were certain.
He was not only mad. Jing Yuan was sorely disappointed.
“I understand…”
You know the expression on his face. You read him like a discipline you mastered in epigraphy. He thinks that…
You have gone “cuckoo.”
He turned around, no longer facing you.
“I’m sorry then, (Y/n).”
Jing Yuan does not sound sorry to you.
“What for?”
There was silence for a moment, before he spoke again, voice bitter and vile.
He was not sorry.
He was furious.
He was hurt.
He was jealous.
“Nay Jung I is the leader behind the past terrorist attacks.” He paused. “And I killed him.”
Tumblr media
You haven’t recovered ever since.
Every medical “professional” you’ve encountered told you that you were hysterical. That you just hallucinated what you saw. It isn’t possible that the visions you saw were Nay Jung I anyway.
Maybe they were right about the last part, you don’t want to believe it.
It was in your instincts. That man had to be your husband in the past. Who cares if you came from another world? Maybe you were an Expy. You had to be. That person— the one who reminded you of a cuckoo bird in those walls— had to be you in another universe.
It had to be.
Your real soulmate is out there.
And Nay Jung I isn’t dead.
But you’ve never been good at persuading others.
Soyourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveityourefusetobelieveit—
“General Jing Yuan, is (Y/n)…?”
Outside the apartment, Mister Zhongli and Jing Yuan stood by the window, peaking at your form. You were so engrossed by your inner conflicts that you couldn’t hear them.
“They’ll… move on from you, eventually.” Jing Yuan spat back coldly. “I’m not the God of Contracts, but I keep promises that do not fail.”
Zhongli’s face crumpled in anguish.
“May I ask a question? Just to sate a bit of curiosity, of course.”
Jing Yuan’s eyes narrowed. Zhongli took that as a yes.
“Are you Nay Jung I?” He asked. “I did not see his name on the list of the deceased criminals—”
“Yes, he and I are the same,” Jing Yuan silenced him. “Nay Jung I is an anagram of Jing Yuan. You can reorder the letters and confirm it for yourself.”
Originally, Jing Yuan had hoped to woo you with a romantic tale of an anonymous admirer. But, in your delirium, you had mistakenly believed that Nay Jung I was the same man in your visions.
It was repulsive.
Never before had he wished to scream so loudly. He had not felt this much anger when he discovered the crimes his old friends had done. He had not felt as betrayed as when you claimed love for Nay Jung I, but it was not him.
He wanted to summon the Lightning Lord to destroy Liyue right then and there.
It was a frustration he had never felt before. Not when he was training with Jingliu. Not when he was scolding Yanqing. Not ever.
But Jing Yuan was not an impulsive man.
He prides his patience.
He prefers to scheme quietly rather than flashing bold moves.
Jing Yuan sucked in a breath between his teeth.
“I suppose it’s my turn to ask.”
He shut the windows and Zhongli’s heart ached as he could no longer see you.
But then he turned to look at Jing Yuan.
And he knew…
Jing Yuan is much older and wiser than he looks.
“Tell me, Rex Lapis,” he spoke sharply. “Did you wed this world’s version of (Y/n) (L/n) and leave her and her child to die?”
That silence was enough.
Jing Yuan’s private investigations behind your back were right.
In the vast “multi-verse”, there is a version of you that married this dragon who descended from his Archon status.
“I... have wrought upon them great suffering. I am unworthy of their affections. Should a day come where (Y/n) enacts the fury of my wife and child on their behalf, it will be justly deserved.”
Zhongli did not further elaborate.
Whatever happened in the past, it still haunted him to this day. Lingering in the back of his mind, dulling his self-confidence and wits. Maybe it’s why Yanfei thought you should investigate the cave. Maybe she wanted the alternate version of ███ ███ to come back.
But she's gone.
Jing Yuan took a step closer.
“Your wife is dead, Rex Lapis. They are my (Y/n), not yours.”
“I-… I know.” Zhongli— no— Morax spoke, voice laced with grief. “I know she and (Y/n) are not the same, however, I…”
Another step.
“If you wish for their happiness, you will continue to not speak to them. You have done enough damage.”
Morax closed his eyes mournfully. “I am well aware of this”
Another step.
“Let me take care of (Y/n). Let me make them happy.”
And another.
Jing Yuan stared deep into Morax’s soul.
In all his years of living, it didn’t occur to Morax that he’d find another familiar cuckoo again.
But it wasn’t his wife.
Jing Yuan took another step.
This man in front of him was pushing and pushing…
“Let this conversation be a verbal contract,” he said. “That I, Jing Yuan, vow to make (Y/n) happy, and that you, Rex Lapis, shall step down as a final way to atone your sins of uxoricide and filicide. Do you accept?”
Like a cuckoo throwing an egg off the nest.
Forgive me, dearest ███ ███.
I am unworthy of you, let alone this alternate incarnation of yourself.
Morax inhaled deeply. He remains in his head, yet he can't escape the present. The more time he spent searching inside himself for solutions over his approximately 6000 years in Teyvat, the more evident it became what the sensible path of action was. With open eyes, Morax welcomed the return of the present. He observed the vivid hues of existence. In the vicinity, he heard Jing Yuan's pet cuckoo bird. But most of all, he felt his age.
Whatever time was appropriate to dream of a family— it had long passed him.
I am but an old man who deserves to fade away quietly.
And he…
Has the same vigor Morax once had.
That obsessed look.
That tight, suffocating hold.
Just like staring at a reflection of himself, centuries passed.
Jing Yuan, too, was a man depraved. Worse, he is a man who lost everything, clinging only to (Y/n) as his only solace in Teyvat.
Morax noticed the way Jing Yuan took a walk with you, with one arm draping around your shoulder to ward off those he deemed unwanted.
Morax noticed the way Jing Yuan brags about you with his men in each available opportunity, socially claiming you his.
Morax noticed the way Jing Yuan glares at someone who got too close when he thought you weren’t looking, pushing suitors away.
Morax noticed the way Jing Yuan rarely talks about his story and would rather talk about something you had done, making you a large part of himself.
Morax noticed the way Jing Yuan only cares about you, and not even a sliver for himself.
He would rather not see him destroy himself the way he had done long ago.
And just like that, the General got rid of his greatest rival— Liyue’s archon and your husband from another life.
He is out of the nest.
“I accept.”

POPS IN AND SHAKES YOU
BAMBI. you are the next one on my list to convert to a hsr / genshin papa enthusiast >:)
bambi…. do u have any thoughts abt hsr and genshin papas (twirling my hair as i type)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
໒꒱ ‧₊˚ HONAKI STAR RAIL MEN AS DADS — VARIOUS HSR.
ft. jing yuan, blade, dan heng, aventurine x fem! reader (separate)
content. literally so much fluff u can consider ssfw (super sfw), BUT is kinda suggestive, established relationship (marriage), dan heng’s part is slightly il dan heng, lots of mentions of pregnancy, parental au, somewhat a headcannon w little blurbs in between !!!!, lots & lots of kisses, pet names used for reader, not proofread
notes. IM SO SRRY IT TOOK THIS LONG; hopefully i cooked/redeemed myself w this 😞🙏 made a specially for @neuvistar — maryse !! i also made the writing smaller bc i don’t want it to look longer (srry if it’s hard to read :’)) i doubt myself w this idk if it’s even good (i cut off half of the characters i was gonna write bc i honestly idk 😾 & i did some of them dirty IM SORRY) </3 but i actually do have thoughts, but i hate when i have smt in mind & i js can’t seem to write it down SHAKES YOU IN FRUSTRATION
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JING YUAN — is literally father and daddy coded you cannot persuade me that he isn’t (i will throw hands at you) he’s super sweet and gentle with you before and after your pregnancy, he’ll actually probably treat you the same after you get your children — although maybe he’ll be more patient. overall he’s on the chiller dad side. personally, jing yuan would naturally know how to handle his children even when they’re a few hours after birth. he would cradle them with so much care and gentleness like your baby is made of fragile glass. but what’s to expect? he has yanqing to deal with in the first place.
JING YUAN — would be the man to kiss your forehead multiple times during pregnancy, he’ll actually transform into a male wife, he’ll also go as far as canceling all of his meetings and not give a damn about each one, even if you tried telling him to; he’s stick by your side like super glue. he’s SO reassuring. it’s a shame fu xuan had to deal with a man like him, he’ll never focus properly even if he went to work. all he has on his mind is you and his soon-to-be little versions of you and him.
“take it easy, love. i’ll be right by your side if you need me.”
JING YUAN — who would and will have two daughters, he’s such a girl dad i can see it. i feel like he wouldn’t (??) have twins, just like one child at a time, a very supportive dad. he could easily cheer up his daughters anytime, like when they trip, fall, scrap their knee, need help on homework, need assistance on changing, and so much more.
JING YUAN — who takes naps with his daughters anywhere, anytime. his daughters definitely inherited their father’s love for sleep (and his lazy personality), they enjoy sleeping just like their sleep deprived father. you’ll as often walk in on the three sleeping together — the children wrapped in jing yuan’s warm, muscular arms. unfortunately, you go a long way just to wake up your husband, what makes you think waking up your husband and two more lazy children that have the same ego as their father help?
“mommyy… 5 mor’…”
“mhm, what she said… just 5 more minutes, darling… how about you join us..?
JING YUAN — spoils his daughters. he doesn’t spoil them too much, or else they’ll grow up to be greedy, so he’ll spoil them just a right amount that they know how to behave properly when receiving something thoughtful. he cherishes the moments he gets to spend with you and the children together — he occasionally schedules times so he can get home at a specific time to spend with his family. eating dinner, playing games, and just enjoying his family. on rare occasions, his girls will wake up early and even come to your’s and jing yuan’s bedroom to wake you two up in the morning! leading to a huge cuddle session and cute babbling from your mix of you and jing yuan.
Tumblr media
BLADE — is quite the dad, actually. he obviously won’t show it, but he’s in between being extremely nervous and extremely excited on being a dad. he’s not sure if it’ll be worth the shot even being a father, due to all of the trauma and greif he’s had in his life. but after he met you, he’s started to diminish his need to disappear. additionally, you’ll be there to reassure him.
BLADE — is a very good father. like before, he’s nervous, but he has soft spot for you — which means he has an even softer spot for his own children. he’s a girl dad; one daughter and i can see it. he takes REAL good care of her when she’s just minutes out the womb. just the way blade’s eyes softened so much and his mouth slight gaped can tell how blade sees his beautiful daughter. the man to tuck his girl’s stray hairs out of her face and kiss her face afterwards.
“she looks just like me..”
BLADE — who's so gentle with his daughter. despite being a wanted criminal who fights with much skill and discipline, it’s a true surprise to see him so vulnerable while using his rough hands to softly cradle his daughter who’s ten times smaller than him. he’ll let his daughter play with his bangs and long luscious hair, even if he has to brush it all over again. he doesn’t give a single care about his hair, as long as his daughter gets her entertainment. he’ll let her slap his face, squish his cheeks, bump his nose, whatever (he probably wouldn’t let them all slide). on some days, when blade’s not running around and escaping from soldiers, he lets his daughter go ALL out on him. the two will definitely play — dress up, dolls, tea party’s, and much, much more (but it’s not like he can say no).
BLADE — who unfortunately “becomes” a pretty princess once his daughter gets to work. neon clips, silky ribbons, fake makeup, pink hair ties, jewelry, everything. and when you witness it, it’s more than difficult to hold in your laugh.
“blade!… blade?-”
“don’t.”
BLADE — is a pretty accurate protective father, but sometimes, it’s not even his protectiveness that’s acting. just a small glance or look from him can scare any boy from staying near or close your daughter. you remind him constantly to give his daughter some freedom, but what’s he gonna do if he’s doing nothing — but staring at the boy? it’ll take time for him to accept a guy that your daughter actually really likes and wants to be with, but don’t worry, blade will be “kind” enough to do it for his daughter. but don’t expect him to accept a man so easily (and the man to accept a dad-in-law so… scary), he’ll definitely have them take a “trial” on something to be able to be his daughter’s lover. heads up, if any guy hurts his daughter in any way, physically, mentally, or emotionally, they better count their days.
Tumblr media
DAN HENG — is literally the sweetest dad to ever have, it’s tooth rottening. he’s like the entire package. he’ll make sure his children get a good education, live in a good environment, provide them with a decent life style, and hope they grow up to be amazing people (i’m crying rn). but before actually receiving you giving birth to your child, dan heng was the biggest nervous thing ever. he never thought to ever have a child of his own, and doubt how he’ll have to work it out. but you reassured him, and true to your words, he was.
DAN HENG — stays by your side almost all the time during your pregnancy. even when he had lots of trailblazing with the crew, he insisted to stay back to care for you and his future children. fortunately, he was allowed to by himeko and welt — unfortunately for march 7th and the trailblazer, they were missing a member to provoke. he can and will do everything and anything for you; the whole princess treatment. need water? right on top of your bed stand. need a pillow? he’s already rushing for a spare one. need something to eat? he’s already provided it (breakfast in bed guys). don’t forget the cuddles on the side, he’ll provide that anytime. his cuddles are literally so warm it warms up your body in the process, he’s like your personal heater. dan heng will definitely rub soothing circles on the belly — he knows it gets difficult to be a mother (not by experience guys get it out of your head), so he hopes all his acts of service helps you.
“shhh… take it easy love.”
DAN HENG — would have 2 children, a son and a daughter. unless it’s il dan heng, then that’s something else. i’d say the son is the oldest, although i don’t exactly 100% see it. there will be tears when he gets to see his very first child, holding them like it’s like his very last chance of living. he’ll immediately kiss your forehead after you’ve given birth to your and his’ child, promising to care for your son (and future daughter) ‘till the day he dies. he’ll also be by your side when your in the process of delivering your child. rubbing circles on your hands, lightly hushing and kissing you, intertwining hands, and saying the most supportive and loving words ever. and you maybe even cried during it because you can’t believe to have such an amazing husband like dan heng by your side (i’m crying again). additionally, the way his heart and eyes melted when you send him a small smile and slowly closed your eyes to rest.
DAN HENG — who like blade, would let his children play with his hair. sometimes, he’d transform into his vidyadhara and let his children play with his long hair; clipping clips, tying his hair, fashioning it, etc. i guess the son wouldn’t be so into that, but he’ll help his sister dress up their father. you melt whenever you happen to see your little toddlers play and try to chase after their father’s dragon tail. careful not to have them trip or fall, dan heng enjoys teaseing them and having them run after his tail — like a puppy, hoping that they manage to catch his tail and play atop it. i also can’t help but think of the thought dan heng would have his tail “turn” into a slide for his little children! they would just slide down and run back to their father for another round until they’re exhausted.
“hehe... again! again!”
“alright, you can slide some more, but then it’s gonna be your nap time.”
“ok, daddy!”
DAN HENG — who lovingly tucks his kids in their bed or crib when it’s their nap time, or it’s their bedtime. it’s such a heartwarming scene to witness, it could easily melt even the coldest of hearts. i think dan heng would sing them lullabies, but occasionally when he feels like it’s time for them understand the meanings of his songs. dan heng slightly blushes when he sees you in the doorway, flustering that you got to see how vulnerable he is, but that’s not a bother.
Tumblr media
AVENTURINE — is one of the funnest and dedicated dads. he just loves his children so much, even if he has a side job, he always manages to make time for them and you. would definitely cry tears of joy and happiness when he receives them, stroking their small heads and holding them so tenderly. he loves you so much for giving him his children; he'd babble on forever about how you're such an amazing wife for working so hard for him and you, probable crying while saying all those heartwarming things. he's more than grateful to have his little children.
AVENTURINE — is such an AMAZING dad and supporter oh my goodness. he's so caring when you're a few months and/or weeks pregnant. maybe he becomes a male-wife (??), that's very visible in my brain. for awhile, he would take a break on going to the casino — to stay home and care for you. would easily decline any offer from any opponents that want to gamble. you would sometimes just wake up in the morning and hear his conversations to somebody about some business.
"no... im good... listen, for the last time, im not. please and thank you." hangs up.
"oh! mornin' babe. huh? — oh, its nothing, just some brat."
AVENTURINE — is a girl dad, but i feel like he would have one son and two daughters. he would love them all equally and take care of them so much; giving them a childhood he never managed to have. aventurine i guess i pretty known for being quite a guy, but his kids would be the sweetest ever — which he said was inherited by you. but just like their dad, they have another side (😈), they can be SO troublesome and little maniacs if they want to.
AVENTURINE — who gets tackled to the ground whenever he gets home from work by his children. it’s so cute and entertaining to see him get beaten to the ground by kids so much younger than him. they would just tackle his — grabbing his hat and coat and wearing them themselves ITS SO CUTE. additionally, i see aventurine taking the three bundles of joy to his gambling games and have them like sit on his lap and let them experience it. and also watching their dad ‘win’, is what he said. but after a couple weeks of their visits, aventurine eventually had to limit their visits because they kept exposing his cards; throwing them, playing with them, shouting out his cards, etc.
“daddy has only two more blue cards!”
“and one yellow!”
“oh! hehe… don’t shout out, love, it’s rude.”
AVENTURINE — who does the weirdest things with his kids. he would one hundred percent (sorry not sorry) dab up his son and teaches him the weirdest shit ever. like it’s kinda not surprising at all. he would also let his daughter play around with his necessary stuff. many of his other stuff needs to been hidden well, because you know, his kids are pretty curious.

feeling super duper soft and clingy today so i’m just imagining the various ways JING YUAN kisses.
Tumblr media
he’s absolutely devoted; think gomez and mortician addams. and while those two usually are, uh, very enthusiastic, jing yuan would take a more... relaxed approach. he’d gently take you by the hands and pull you closer before lifting one of your hands up to his lips and while maintaining eye contact, his golden eyes adoring and sparkling with amusement, he’d press a kiss to each finger before trailing soft kisses down your arm and up to your shoulder, finishing by nuzzling his head against the crook of your neck with a contended hum.
but also... kisses that are in the heat of the moment, when he’s got you pinned on his bed, his frame over yours, your hands pinned to the bed on either side of your head. he’s peppering your face with kisses, murmuring soft praises against your skin as he moves down to your jawline, his kisses getting hungrier. he’ll press slow kisses along the column of your throat, perhaps leaving a few faint love bites in the process, his tongue soothing over the marks.
speaking of; he absolutely worships you. he will gladly take his time, making sure to kiss every single inch of skin on your body, lingering to pay special attention to whichever parts you’re most insecure about. it isn’t even sexual sometimes, sometimes he just desperately want to worship his one and only, and all it will lead to is cuddling and falling asleep in each other’s arms.
he absolutely never leaves your presence without stepping close and gently tilting your chin up to brush his lips against yours softly, smiling into the kiss and lingering for a moment before pulling away and going about his business after murmuring a quiet “i love you”.
Tumblr media
i could go on and on and on but, ugh, this man is one thousand percent his significant other’s biggest simp and he certainly isn’t ashamed to show it. thanks for coming to my tedtalk; i hope my silly little words made you smile!!! ‹𝟹

Ououghhhh vampire Jing yuan jndjejdjcjr
The soft intimacy paired with the bitter twist that comes with it, in the way he holds you so softly as his teeth press into your neck-
There’s equal parts dread and anticipation when your neck is waiting for that familiar prick of sharpened fangs. The momentary few seconds of pain is something you’ll never get used to. But Jing Yuan feels the way your scent grows thicker—heady with the rush of adrenaline pumping through the veins in your neck.
He gulps almost audibly. Parched.
But he needs to keep up this little ritual, for the sake of keeping sane and not devolving to the monotonous cycle of feeding over and over and over like an animal driven by the brink of extinction. He needs to feel.
cw | blood, suggestive
Tumblr media
Not human, no. That’s something he’s long given up on.
Just Jing Yuan is enough. To feel like he was, or who he could be, or who he wants to be. Just… him.
Intimacy, longing, exhilaration—he holds back the primal instinct to feed on the crimson life that courses through you. The very essence that keeps him sane for a few spare nights.
Perched on his lap you lay against him, his hands wandering the plush of your thighs so warm and fragrant. There’s still a bandage wrapped around one of them where he sunk his fangs into their inviting delicacy a couple weeks ago. He had his fill in blood and body, his shame put to rest as you gripped his hair and urged him to where you need him—mind high on adrenaline and blood loss.
His breath is hot on your neck as he licks a stripe along the pulse that quickens under his tongue. A tender kiss pressed just under your jaw. His affections—or his preparation as he likes to call it—made you squirm in his lap. It earns a deep, velvety chuckle from him, vibrations you feel against you where you lean further into him.
“I’m beginning to think you look forward to this little rendezvous more than I do, songbird,” Jing Yuan teases. His fang just barely grazes your skin, pulling a stuttering gasp from you.
“Being the general’s lifeline does things to one’s ego,” you bite back with a breathy laugh. A shiver courses through your body as he teasingly presses his fangs just enough to feel discomfort but not enough to break the skin.
“Noticeably, with how you wear rather… enthusiastic outfits to these meetings. What would the people think?” The question is sarcastic with a playful glint in his eye.
“The general I know doesn’t care for rumors as long as peace is long-standing. Besides, I hear the general is quite fond of my daring little red dresses.”
He chuckles at your quick witted arguments. And this is what he most craves. The faux normalcy—the way you never miss a beat, never treat him significantly different with conversations. Just you. Just him.
He nuzzles his nose along a prominent jugular vein, arms hugging you tighter against him. And he breathes in deep, grounding himself and taking in the sound of your pulse that is all too apparent for him. His hunger is progressing.
Jing Yuan acknowledges he is greedy. Definitely needy. It’s a cruel intimacy he seeks from you often. But this is sound company he’s made with a little unconventional transaction between you both.
Of course you love him. You wouldn’t be baring your neck for him every few days if you didn’t. Going through special diets for blood quality and too many doctor appointments to count—your selflessness was your self-destruction. But you wouldn’t put your fate in anyone else’s hand.
He doesn’t envy your humanity. Nor does he wish to make you his equal in this vampiric curse of abundance. It’s simply you and him and these vulnerable moments before he feels less than himself as he takes from you.

Boothill, Dr.Ratio, & Jing Yuan with a teen!reader that has a service dog bc of physical issues.
▼・ᴥ・▼
Oooh, I absolutely love this ask Anon! Thank you for the request, and I'm sorry that it took so long!<33
Content: Vague mentions of physical issues, fluff, teen reader, platonic relationships, sfw
Reader has no set pronouns!!
((Not proofread))
Tumblr media
》BOOTHILL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Boothill thinks that your service dog is the sweetest thing. You'd probably have to explain to him what exactly it does and how they help you, but he's very enthusiastic about them. He really appreciates their presence and gives them a good pat after work hours with alot of praise.
With that said, he can get annoyed quickly if someone tries bothering you or your service dog. He knows that it's important for them not to get distracted after all and therefore keeps a good eye on you two during your travels.
Boothill sees it also as a group effort between him and your furry protector to keep you safe and healthy during the day. They definitely become the best of friends through it, that's for sure.
Tumblr media
》DR RATIO
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ratio is probably the one who helped you get and train your service dog perfectly. He's a busy man and knows that he can't always be around to help you, so he figured that the dog would be a good alternative. He also wanted to give you some freedom and independence that he deemed as crucial for someone your age.
He may not voice it outwardly, but he very much appreciates the hard work your dear service dog puts into keeping you safe and healthy. He spoils them with treats when you aren't looking.
If he hears that people are disturbing you two in public, he'll attempt to tag along more and keep training your dog to only focus on you. He worries about your health all the time, but places his trust in your companion fully anyways when he isn't around.
Tumblr media
》JING YUAN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He and the service dog are THE best of friends. True partners in the mission of keeping you safe and happy. He knows that your physical issues were weighing on your mental health in his absence and decided to get you the dog himself in hopes of helping. He knows he's often away for work and doesn't trust many with your safety, so this seemed like a great solution.
He definitely spoils the dog with head pats and treats every day after work hours, even praising them for doing so well. He let's them lay under his desk whilst you two talk about how your day went.
You don't have to worry about anyone disturbing you either, of course. Who would be foolish enough to do anyways?

“Prologue: From the Start” (cws: mention of drinking - wc: 1.0k, fluff/platonic, gn reader)
Yingxing stepped into the Xianzhou off of the merchant vessel he somehow got on, looking up to the artificial blue sky as his navy hair blew in the wind. He had come here on a whim after his home planet was destroyed by the borisin.
He was a short-life species, an outlier among the long-life species that reside in the Xianzhou, but he didn't care.
Yingxing started to explore the Xianzhou to get a feel for what might be his new home when he was bumped into, stumbling backwards a bit. Yingxing blinked some, his dull, light blue eyes landing on the person who stumbled and fell to the ground.
“I’m so sorry!” they exclam, picking up the paper they dropped. They seemed young, young for a Xianzhou native at least, that being maybe about 50, a young teenager.
“It’s no issue,” Yingxing replies, helping them up. Once they look up, their eyes widen.
“You- you're the short life species coming to live here that everyone's talking about!” They say excitedly. Yingxing quirks an eyebrow.
“Yes.. that's me, what about it?”
“Oh! Wait, what's your name? Mine’s [name]!” Yingxing is puzzled by [name]’s excitement. He's got odd looks from the other natives, so why does this one show interest in him?
“I'm Yingxing, but why-” he was cut off by [name] and their excited rambling.
“Yingxing! What a cool name.. Ooo! You look like you'd like the art of craftsmanship!!” Yingxing blinked, trying to wrap his head around the natives’ words.
“Craftsmanship.. like weapon making?” he inquires. [name] gives an enthusiastic nod. Yingxing crossed his arms, glancing down at the Xianzhous ground. “Show me then, [name],” he looks back up and smiles, his navy hair blowing in the wind with the natives'. “ ‘m interested.”
Tumblr media
After showing Yingxing to the Artisanship Commission, he joined as an apprentice under the guidance of Master Huaiyan. He had vowed to avenge his home and family by making weapons for the Cloud Knights. He quickly became well known for his astounding craftsmanship.
Later on, Yingxing met Baiheng when she was sent to a delegation to request reinforcements from the ship for Yaoqings Crane Feather Orbit Fleet. They were fighting the borisin, and in present time, Yingxing was helping Baiheng with receiving the delegation and taking them to his master — Huaiyan — at Flamedisk Forge Palace.
“Soo~” Baiheng cooed cheerily, walking beside Yingxing as they made their way on the Zhuming. “What got you interested in the Artisanship Commission? You're a short-life species, so I'm curious,” the foxian asks. Yingxing sighs.
“A kid named [name]. They disappeared after I joined,” he replied, looking over to Baiheng.
“Oh! I know [name]! Almost all of the Zhuming people do, they're an aspiring writer and a good people analyzer,” Baiheng says. “Seems they were pretty accurate with you, little Yingxing, no?” she smiles, finishing her sentence, fox ears twitching.
“I suppose, though I believe I would've found the Artisanship Commission on my own,” Yingxing replies with a sigh as they finally make it to their destination.
“Baiheng!” someone called out. The two turn around and see [name], who halts their movements and smiles. “And Yingxing too! How's it been for you in the Commission?” they inquire, smiling. Yingxing shrugs.
“It’s been pretty fun, I suppose,” he replies. [name] nods politely at him, their smile growing, and they then turn their attention to Baiheng. Yingxing watches on as he crosses his arms with a faint smile. He liked these two, maybe more so than he knows for now.
Tumblr media
Yingxing remained on the Xianzhou for some years, Baiheng and [name] sticking with him. They were a little trio, and later on, the Sword Master of the Luofu — Jingliu — had befriended the three and introduced them to her apprentice — Jing Yuan.
They hung out as a friend group for about a year more, and in that time, they had managed to befriend the Vidyadhara High Elder, Dan Feng, and had made a name for themselves after a while. The High Cloud Quintet.
Bellowing laughter rang out through Scalegorge Waterscape as the clink of small shot glasses came together. Yingxing, Dan Feng and [name] we're having some drinks together, though Dan Feng was more stoic as he took his shot with his friends.
The others were chatting on their own, Jingliu and Baiheng having their own shots together. The entire Quintet was close, but Yingxing, Dan Feng and [name] were especially close, so much so they had matching jewelry.
Yingxing has the long, red earring on his left ear, Dan Fengs in his right ear, and [name]s on a necklace. The three often drank and sparred together with themselves and the others, much like now.
“Guys!!” [name] calls out to the others, setting down their small shot glass and running over to the other three as they turn around. The foxians ears swiveled to the nosie as she turned around.
“What is it, [name]?” Baiheng asks. Yingxing and Dan Feng walk up behind their friend as they explain their ideas they commonly do.
“We need to spar after we all take a shot together. I need to test out this new weapon Yingxing made me!” they exclam, pulling out said weapon. Yingxing crossed his arms with Dan Feng, a smile falling upon his lips. He was proud of his work, and if [name]. After learning how to fight, he made them a weapon specifically catered towards their fighting style, and they've come a long way since he's helped them learn to fight.
Jingliu smiles, looking at all her friends, her red eyes landing back on [name]. “Of course, get the drinks ready?” she says as she holds out her cup. [name] nods, beaming, and goes back to get their cup and the drink.
The group laughs at their antics, Jing Yuan standing beside Jingliu as [name] returns.
With their cups now filled, they hold up their drinks in the air with a clink! and gulp down their shots, getting ready to spar one another soon after with smiles on their lips.
Oh the horrors that were to come for them, fall upon them and crush their friendships.

Helloo! Sorry to bother you, but thoughts about fem!reader who is Kisaeng (I'm not sure if the translation is correct, I mean something like geisha) and Jing Yuan do not give me peace... I can imagine how Jing Yuan once saw her by chance on the street and he liked her. He only found out who she was when he visited Kisaeng’s house and saw her there. Will he buy her?
Have a nice day, sorry to bother you with something so... stupid 🫣
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s not stupid 😉☺️I never thought about this type of reader. I think the affectionate jy will buy you immediately😌He will not wait needlessly.
Xianzhou is referencing Chinese culture so that should be Geji? Those are women who are engaged in dancing and music, specializing in serving dignitaries. Xianzhou is a developed space civilization and shouldn't have such a system but… we are talking about dark content so… yeah 😚 I think that would be interesting.
You have been sold on a certain planet, sobbed and given as a gift to some organization in Xianzhou Luofu. They train some women in dance and music as performers…or as gifts. You can only choose an instrument to practice and think that one day you will buy your own freedom (you are allowed to save the reward money). One day, after practice, you were walking down the street holding your instrument and sighing, but you didn't notice and bumped into someone. You sink into a warm, broad chest and bounce away.
"Huh? Sorry- Sorry!!" You apologized quickly.
"It's okay. Just be careful when you walk, girl." You raised your head, feeling dizzy. That's General Jing Yuan… You bowed again before running away. Help, you almost offended him just now.
You ran away without looking back, not noticing Jing Yuan's eyes glued to your back.
In the afternoon the news of the general's visit frightened your master. He asked if any business laws were broken here, but Jing Yuan just asked him for the details of "buying you". The boss immediately nods and bends like an enthusiastic dog, compliments him on his good taste, and takes you out to show him.
"Why don't you say hello to the general? That's your new master." He urged you impatiently.
"Master-master." You stammered, heat focused on your cheeks as you watched Jing Yuan place the collar on your neck.

I have a request!! AHEM (fluff) rainy days w/ blade or jing yuan or dan heng or all three if you can 🥺✨ THANK U 🫶
— UNDER THE RAIN : #honkai star rail !
⌗:, a/n: first hsr request!! my favourite trio
⌗:, warning: none
⌗:,pairings: blade, jing yuan & dan heng w/ gn!reader
Tumblr media
— BLADE
Relaxing and having fun are two verbs which do not exist in his dictionary. He may be stoic all the time but just like any ordinary being he also wishes, no, yearn to be with you. To melt in your arms, away from the worries and darkness of the world.
"Blade, look ! it's raining. " you two were currently on a mission. The streets at the moment were empty so for two wanted people it was safe, for now. He humed looking at the sky "we should get a nearby shelter. It is poring outside" and just as he was about to find one, you pulled his arms and led him into the rain. "oh come one we don't get opportunities like this. Streets empty, and a rainy day." He loved you from deep within but showing those affections in the right way were a task for him. However, you bright smile in this dark world were a beacon of light for him.
A smile escaped from his lips, a pure smile and lovesick eyes. He held you hands and said "since you asked for it, stay close to me darling". Romancing with you freely without any worries seemed like a far fetched dream but what he wouldn't do to relive these again.
— JING YUAN
It was a holiday and surprisingly the General was not running to and fro and was comfortably dozing off on your lap. The sky was overcast with dark clouds and thunder could be heard off in the distance. Rain wasn't really a common occurrence in the Luofu but you couldn't really ignore the skip of your heart. Dancing and playing in the rain were your favourite activities. Jing Yuan noticed your longing eyes "if you really want to go outside then you should do it. " to which you replied "oh well I can't waltz by myself now I'll need someone to accompany me" "I'd rather sleep" now you knew your greatest weapon against him was puppy eyes. He begrudgingly agreed to your whims.
The rain started, and he did not like getting soaked wet, and he truly wanted to go inside but your enthusiastic smile were priceless. He didn't really have the heart to tell you to go back just because he didn't like the rain. Afterall rain like these were indeed few and far in-between.
You twirled and followed the footsteps of your lover, the pure look of adoration on his eyes and the dreamy scene was enchanting. Oh, how much he would travel galaxies just to make memories with his love.
— DAN HENG
He barely shows few emotions but with you and his family he feels one and whole. The sky was grey indicating a downpour and the streets were soon starting to get emptied because of the incoming rain. You lover as usual was going through research papers and telegraph which go into detail about the opponents found in the present planet.
The weather soon started to get cold enough and what better way to get warm other than your own boyfriend hugging you close and cuddling you until you get warm and snuggled good. "um babe don't you think it's quite cold now?" "well it is indeed cold dear" "so I'm cold right?" "grab a blanket then". Sometimes he acts as if he doesn't understand what you are trying to hint at but today it was especially quite cold because of the rain. " *sigh* fine fine I'll join you" you did you happy dance of victory and got ready to cuddle him.
He pulled you close to his chest and patted your head. The patter of rain and the soft heartbeat of your lover lulled you to sleep. The warmth only further had you drift off into slumber. He kissed you on the forehead. "goodnight my star" and also let sleep take over his form.

・ you can't help but feel bored in class, watching the clock go 'tick-tock! tick-tock! tick-tock!'. your pretty seatmate just happens to be taking notes as the teacher discussed about something.. tapping his shoulder, he looks to you, blinking a few times in confusion. you give a cheeky smile and gesture you want to draw something, your ball pen in the air trying to write out words, blinking a few times again, he lends you his empty hand. looking back in confusion, realizing he wants you to draw on his hand. you do it with an enthusiastic look, leaning your chairs closer together, to get a closer look and tattoo his hand like an artist. as he tried to listen more to the discussion, he can't help but let a chuckle out at your happy expression as you drew stars, cats, and what not on his hand. and 'till class ends, he walks to the canteen with you on his other arm, and the other with doodles all over, out in the open for his friends to see.

・ your eyes slowly closed, giving in to the drowsiness that you were gifted due to staying up for the test in the last afternoon. your seatmate beside you, he notices about 15 minutes later, instead of informing your professor, he put his jacket on you, and started jotting notes down. and once the expected pop quiz appeared, he'd lightly shake you, whispering that there's an activity, and telling about the topic while the professor finishes the small review for the quiz. got any jing yuan hcs because i’m sure being a general who loves to sit around and laze like a cat plus dan heng who seems to love keeping in contact for various things (food dates?) got his old metabolism fighting and losing haha
definitely have some hcs! his favorite hobby is eating a big meal then taking a nap in the sun. . . just like a cat lol
hes had to tailor his clothes a bit, that belt that was around his waist is now underneath it, emphasizing his belly. Also holding it up some, which helps him feel the weight less.
Fu x/uan keeps making fun of him and asking if his fat ass is going to retire now, since hes *clearly* let go of himself. Jing Y/uan just smiles and says it’s not time yet. it is true that it hasn’t affected his fighting prowess. . . yet. Then again, he usually just summons LL to take care of things. Somehow, despite being a diviner, Fu x/uan cannot figure out that he enjoys the teasing greatly. Every time she does it, he goes and stuffs himself later to see just how far gone he is now.
dan he/ng was not enthusiastic about ever returning to the Luof/u, but he decided to because every time he sees a picture of jing y/uan he looks fatter and dh HAS to see for himself. the first time they meet again it’s at a restaurant and dh watches jy down several full meals and dh is trying so fucking hard to control himself.
since dh can’t resist, it starts to happen regularly, and dh is so distracted by jy he always ends up overeating too. by the end of the food dates they’re slowly walking to jing yuan’s, bellies full and stuffed, giving each other a belly rub before falling asleep.
with a sweet tooth as big as the generals’, he is always eating some kind of sugar. the easiest way to get the general to agree to something is bring a sweet drink or a box of pastries with it. this is one thing contributing greatly to his waistline. it’s a little bit of a game between the people directly under him to guess how many meals he will eat and whether or not he’ll pop a seam today.

"What are you doing here, Jing Yuan?"
Your voice wavered, as you confronted Jing Yuan. Your heart pounded within your chest like a resounding war drum, beset by confusion and astonishment at his unexpected appearance before you. The notion of why he had chosen this precise moment to manifest remained elusive. He stood there, an embodiment of commanding grace, a signature smile adorning his lips, as if he held all the secrets of the world.
With a casual wave of his hand, he greeted you, though the nonchalant gesture did little to quell the emotions stirring within you.
"I am here to visit my fiancée. Am I not allowed?" he replied, his tone light and playful, yet an undercurrent of determination gleamed in his gaze as he took a step closer to your table.
The audible gasps from the women surrounding you were undeniable, forming a hushed symphony of admiration that accompanied Jing Yuan's presence wherever he traversed. Though you could not see their faces, you could sense the collective awe that enveloped them. For many, he was not merely a military icon but a man emanating captivating charisma and allure. It was not every day that one had the privilege of encountering the notable General, and thus, the air shimmered with excitement and fascination.
An electric energy charged the atmosphere, drawing all eyes irresistibly toward him. Jing Yuan exuded a magnetic force, his presence captivating and enigmatic, leaving the women around you unquestionably starstruck.
As Jing Yuan reaches you, his presence seems akin to an unexpected stroke of fortune within your carefully orchestrated scheme. Surrounded by the estate's opulence and grandeur, a surge of satisfaction washed over you. Your assumption that your recent absence might have impacted him in some way appeared to be validated by his unanticipated visit.
The subtle curl of pride gracing your countenance as your meticulously laid plan began to bear fruit. The intricate pieces of your game aligned seamlessly, and the prospect of gradually dismantling Jing Yuan's defenses and drawing him closer to you no longer felt like an elusive dream but a tangible possibility. This opportunity allowed you to move through his life, inching closer to fulfilling your ultimate mission.
Nonetheless, beneath the allure of success, a connotation of unease remained ever-present. You were acutely aware of the great importance your ultimate mission held and the necessity for measured and cautious steps. The path you traversed was rife with risks and uncertainties, yet the promise of what awaited at its conclusion stoked the fires of your determination.
"Greetings to you, General Jing Yuan.”
The guest's enthusiastic greeting to Jing Yuan resonated through the place, drawing him nearer to you as he stood tall and self-assured behind your seat.
"Greetings to all of you as well, beautiful ladies," he replied with a gracious smile, his voice smooth and inviting, carrying a chivalrous charm that seemed to envelop those around him.
The air subtly shifted with his presence, seizing everyone's attention akin to a gravitational pull.. His regal demeanor and striking features made him an arresting sight, a man who effortlessly stood out in any gathering. An undeniable allure surrounded him, an aura of power and sophistication that left an indelible impression on all those fortunate enough to encounter him.
Fascinated and amused, you observed the effect he had on the women present. Their reactions ranged from gasps of surprise to sighs of admiration, and you couldn't help but smile to yourself at their overt infatuation with the Jing Yuan. It was no surprise; after all, his countenance transcended mere attractiveness, possessing a captivating handsomeness that left people spellbound.
Amongst the ladies, a distinct squeal of delight echoed, a clear testament to the impact he had on them. You couldn't fault them for being enamored by his charm; it was a trait he wielded effortlessly, effortlessly winning hearts wherever he went.
As their attention remained enthralled by Jing Yuan, you took a moment to appreciate the scene unfolding before you. The pavilion shimmered with an intangible energy, an atmosphere charged with admiration and excitement. Yet, amidst the crowd, Jing Yuan's gaze remained fixed on you, his customary smile creeping his face, as if he knew the effect he had on others but reserved his most genuine attention for you.
“Apologies for the abrupt intrusion upon your teatime, but if I may be so bold, would you kindly grant me a moment with my fiancée?" Jing Yuan's soft and courteous tone left you with a tilt of your head as you listened attentively.
His unexpected request to borrow you momentarily caught you off guard, yet you maintained composure, refraining from speaking and simply allowing him to engage with the esteemed ladies around.
The women, clearly charmed by his presence, eagerly granted their approval, assuring him that such a favor need not be asked for.
"Certainly, General! You may borrow Lady (Name) without hesitation. There's no need to ask," one of them exclaimed with excitement.
Jing Yuan acknowledged their agreement with a smile and a nod of thanks, yet his eyes remained on you. It was as if he sought your permission, not merely to observe propriety, but because he genuinely valued your consent.
With a simple nod in response to his unspoken request, you gracefully rose from your seat, feeling a curious mix of anticipation and intrigue. The esteemed ladies smiled knowingly, understanding that there was a deeper connection between you and Jing Yuan than met the eye.
"I will return at a later time. I intend to have a brief conversation with Jing Yuan," you communicated, "Should you require any assistance, please feel free to summon aid."
Suyin, in particular, flashed you a meek smile and waved, and you couldn't help but pause for a moment, meeting her gaze with a hint of uncertainty. However, you quickly turned away, knowing that your private conversation with Jing Yuan required your immediate attention.
Once you had distanced yourselves adequately from the teatime gathering, you and Jing Yuan embarked on a search for a suitable location for this discreet tête-à-tête. The estate's opulent halls offered many possibilities, yet you both sought a place where you could converse candidly without the risk of prying eyes or ears.
The atmosphere seemed to thicken with each step, the anticipation between you becoming palpable. As you walked side by side, a comfortable silence settled between you, speaking volumes in itself.
Finally, a secluded alcove hidden away from the bustling crowd presented itself, ensuring the privacy you sought.
"So, if you don't mind my inquiry, what is the reason for requesting my presence?" you inquire once the two of you find yourselves secluded from the pavilion, shielded from prying eyes.
"I just wanted to visit you," he responded with surprising candor. However, your inquisitive nature pushed you to seek further verification, a reassurance that there was more to his presence than what he was revealing.
"Is it truly so?"
Your probing questions compelled you to dig deeper, hoping to uncover the truth that lay beneath his composed demeanor.
You couldn't resist delving further into the reasons behind his unannounced visit. There was a longing within you to hear something more, something that would validate the assumptions swirling in your mind, despite the groundwork he had already laid with his presence.
Jing Yuan's lips quirked, and he momentarily licked them, a fleeting sign of contemplation crossing his features. His gaze remained locked onto your own, and a pregnant pause filled the air between you. It was as if he carefully weighed his words, considering how much to reveal.
"It appears that you are suggesting I might have another motive for this visit, hmm?"
You couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, deftly deflecting the implications back to him.
"I have not made any assumptions, Jing Yuan. It seems that notion rests solely with you. Perhaps it resonates with the truth behind your own words?"
Jing Yuan's amused smirk mirrored your own expression..
"Then if I might be frank, I was actually going to ask you about why you suddenly stopped visiting my office."
The question you had been waiting for finally surfaced, and the rush of satisfaction you felt was evident in the smile that adorned your face. It was the first step towards the realization of your ultimate goal, and the possibilities that lay ahead seemed tantalizing as long as you could maintain the delicate balance of your intricate plan.
"Oh, that," you responded with a gesture of innocence, lightly placing a finger on your chin as if considering the response. "I have been preoccupied with other engagements, as you might have noticed. My responsibilities as the future heiress of our clan demand my attention. I apologize if I failed to inform you in advance."
Your response was a well-crafted lie, one that you had fabricated in collusion with the matriarch. It was a part of the grand scheme you had twisted, a deception that entangled not only Jing Yuan but all the natives of Xianzhou Luofu. The guilt threatened to creep in, but you were quick to cut its vines, refusing to let it take root. After all, your pursuit of freedom and power had become your driving force, and you were willing to embrace deception to attain your goals.
You knew the risks of this elaborate charade, but the allure of liberty was too enticing to resist. Your quest for power and control had led you down a path of lies and conspiracy, and while the guilt lurked in the shadows, you knew that the end justifies the means.
"There's no need for apologies," Jing Yuan asserted, his voice carrying a solemn tone. "It is only natural for you to bear such responsibilities as the heiress. If anything, it is I who intruded, and I should be the one apologizing."
"No need for apologies. I am truly delighted that you took the time to visit, even amidst your busy schedule."
His next words revealed the depth of his genuine concern for you, sincerity evident in his eyes as he explained, "I simply wished to check on how you were faring. I had thought that something might have happened, prompting me to visit and offer a helping hand if needed."
His authentic worry caught you off guard, and you blinked in surprise as you gazed at Jing Yuan. His eyes held a subtle hint of concern that you hadn't expected, and you realized that your absence from his office must have genuinely troubled him.
"I must confess, I had not realized my absence would cause you such concern," you admitted, a coy smile playing on your lips.
"It is only natural to worry when means of instant communication are not readily available to inquire about your well-being."
You offered an apologetic smile in return. "I do not possess a smartphone for swift communication, and I apologize for any inconvenience it may cause."
"No matter. Meeting you in person is far more reassuring; it assures me that you are indeed doing well."
As the conversation with Jing Yuan progressed, you found yourself navigating a delicate balance of emotions. On one hand, you appreciated his evident concern and genuine care directed towards you. However, on the other hand, a growing sense of suspicion and wariness crept into your thoughts.
Jing Yuan's undeniable eloquence and smooth demeanor revealed his prowess as a skilled negotiator and master persuader. His reputation as the Luofu General only added to the charm and influence he effortlessly exuded.
You remained keenly aware of his ability to interact with a myriad of individuals, honed over countless years of experience. His interactions with people from all walks of life had shaped him into a masterful charmer, capable of handily winning others to his side.
Even with your own determination and cunning, you found yourself occasionally swayed by the allure of his concern. There was something captivating about his presence, an inviting warmth and understanding that stirred doubts within you.
Despite your reservations, you couldn't help but relish the engaging and intellectually stimulating nature of his company. His skillful maneuvers through various topics left fascinated.
However, caution tugged at your senses as you gazed into his amber eyes, which seemed to hold both curiosity and amiability. There was an almost hypnotic quality to his gaze, drawing you in and evoking emotions that remained enigmatic and complex.
Swiftly, you averted your gaze, mindful of the danger in succumbing too deeply to the enigma of Jing Yuan. It felt as though he possessed a way of peering through your carefully constructed layers, and you were determined not to let your guard down entirely.
Though his concern had touched you, you knew better than to place full trust in anyone within your life. The stakes were high, and vulnerability came at a cost you couldn't afford.
"Thank you for your concern, but indeed, I am doing well," you replied, subtly shifting the focus to his well-being. "And what about you? Do you not have work that requires your attention today?"
Jing Yuan seemed to ponder his response, then replied with a hint of nonchalance in his voice, "True, there is work to be done, but it can wait."
Your skepticism was apparent as you gave him a knowing look, crossing your arms before you.
"Are you absolutely certain? I've noticed that your desk is always laden with piled documents every time I visit."
A soft chuckle, warm and resonant, escapes from Jing Yuan's lips, a melodic sound that dances upon the air in response to your astute observation. His amusement is evident, a subtle shift in the atmosphere that bears witness to the connection formed through this exchange.
"You possess a keen perceptiveness," he acknowledges with a nod, his words a thoughtful acknowledgment of your insight. "Indeed, the responsibility of overseeing the various commissions rests squarely upon my shoulders. Each day unfolds with a procession of reports and matters that demand my attention. While undeniably vital, the sheer scope of these tasks can at times render the undertaking somewhat monotonous.”
"So, to alleviate that monotony, you choose to pay me a visit, is that it?"
"Perhaps that is part of the reason."
You studied Jing Yuan carefully, attempting to discern any hint of his true intentions. Your question was straightforward.
"Since when have you been here?"
He responded with equal directness, "Oh, since the moment they were discussing the financial stability of the Xiang clan."
"So, you overheard our discussion?" you inquired, not feeling particularly perturbed by the fact.
"Yes. I didn't intend to eavesdrop. I just happened to arrive at a very inopportune time."
"Ah, it's not a matter of confidentiality, so it's fine." Curiosity got the better of you, and you probed further, "Are you familiar with the Xiang clan, then?"
Jing Yuan paused, placing his hands behind his back as he pondered his response.
"Well," he began, "they are among the most significant investors in the Sky-Faring commission, and their patriarch attends meetings when his presence is required. Hence, I am acquainted with their clan."
His knowledge of the Xiang clan didn't come as a surprise, given his extensive network and influence. It served as another reminder of the intricacies of his world, where connections and alliances played crucial roles.
"Do you regularly attend the meetings of the commissions?"
“Only in instances when my attendance is deemed necessary.”
You listened to Jing Yuan's explanation, a shrewd thought crossed your mind. The General possessed an unparalleled understanding of the state of affairs in Xianzhou Luofu. His extensive knowledge and influence spanned far and wide, making him a valuable source of information.
Recognizing the opportunity before you, you saw the potential benefits of sharing some of the spreading rumors with Jing Yuan. Such an exchange could serve multiple purposes, allowing you to both verify the validity of certain issues through his perspectives and gather more information about the affairs circulating among the nobles and clans in the region.
Having the upper hand in this precarious game of power was vital for the success of your plans. The more knowledge you acquired, the more influence you could wield, and you were determined to gather as much information as possible to secure your position in this complex landscape.
However, you were well aware of the delicate nature of this task. It required finesse and tact to approach Jing Yuan without appearing too eager or transparent in your intentions. Trust was a precious commodity, and you needed to tread carefully to maintain the fragile balance between gaining information and safeguarding your own secrets.
In the end, you understood that Jing Yuan's willingness to entertain your inquiries would largely depend on the rapport you had cultivated and the level of trust between you. It was a calculated risk, one that you were willing to take in your pursuit of gaining an advantage in this intricate society.
"Anyhow, when will you return to the seat of divine foresight?"
"I think I shall depart immediately after this," he mused, his hand gently resting on his chin in contemplation. "I am aware that you have prior engagements, and it would be best not to disrupt your plans."
“Honestly, you are not causing any disruption. However, I understand the weight of your duties, and I wouldn't want to detain you here."
Jing Yuan chuckled softly at your words. "I assure you, I mentioned that it can wait."
"If you say so," you replied with a playful shrug.
Extending his arm, Jing Yuan politely offered to escort you back, expressing his desire not to depart abruptly and bid farewell to your guest as well. His courtesy and genteel demeanor only served to deepen the charm surrounding him.
You graciously accepted his offer, linking your arm with his and savoring the reassuring presence of his strength beside you as you made your way back to the pavilion.
As you walked together, Jing Yuan couldn't help but inquire, "If I may ask, when do you plan to visit my office again?"
You glanced at him, then returned your gaze to the path ahead, thoughtfully considering your response. "I shall endeavor to visit tomorrow since it has been a while."
Jing Yuan's face lit up with a bright smile. "I shall eagerly anticipate your visit tomorrow."
Once you and Jing Yuan arrived at the gathering, all eyes turned to acknowledge your presence. Smiles were exchanged, but it was evident that most of the attention was drawn to Jing Yuan. The guests held him in high regard, their gazes filled with either respect or affection, enamored by his presence.
"Have you finished conversing with Lady (Name), General Jing Yuan?" one of the guests inquired as you approached the table.
"Yes, I am grateful for the moment she has graciously given me," he replied with genuine appreciation.
With a courteous nod, you gracefully withdrew your arm from around his, allowing him to engage with the guests without hindrance.
"You need not thank us! Lady (Name) belongs to you, not to us," a woman playfully cooed, provoking giggles from others, including Jing Yuan himself. You couldn't help but shake your head at their teasing, finding amusement in the lighthearted atmosphere.
"Would you care for some tea, General?"
"I regretfully must decline, as pressing duties await me at the seat of divine foresight," Jing Yuan replied apologetically.
"That's unfortunate."
"When an opportunity presents itself, I shall gladly join again for some tea," Jing Yuan added, his voice carrying a gentle undertone that seemed to soothe the momentary disappointment that had clouded the table.
His words had a magical effect on the guests, brightening their faces with glee. You couldn't help but chuckle softly, marveling at how effortlessly Jing Yuan knew just the right things to say, how he could charm and appeal to others with such grace.
Truly, it was no wonder that many admired him.
"Well, then. I won't linger any longer," Jing Yuan announced, his gaze shifting to you, a warm smile gracing his features. "I shall now take my leave."
As he bid his farewell, Jing Yuan surprised you by kissing the back of your hand, a gesture that elicited an audible squeal from some of the ladies. A rush of embarrassment washed over you, not just from the intimate gesture but also from the amused reaction of those around you.
Though you had grown accustomed to his occasional displays of affection, having it happen in front of an audience amplified your embarrassment. Your cheeks flushed, and you tried to maintain your composure, though it proved challenging amidst the giggles and whispers from the amused guests.
"Be safe on your way," you managed to say meekly, trying to hide your flustered state.
As Jing Yuan's departure left a lingering buzz of excitement among the ladies, the teatime continued with a notable shift in conversation. Now, all eyes were on the General, and the air was filled with admiration and praises for him. Voices chimed in, each lady eager to share their own anecdotes and encounters with the distinguished figure who had just graced their presence.
You, too, were not exempt from the inquisitive gazes and probing questions about Jing Yuan. The ladies were curious to know more, seeking details about his character and behavior, especially when the two of you were alone. With honesty and poise, you recounted your experiences with him, describing him as wise and mysterious—a man of enigmatic charm and intellect.
As you spoke, you could see the interest in the eyes of those around you, hanging onto every word as if they were unraveling the layers of a captivating tale. You felt a certain pride in being able to offer insights into Jing Yuan's character, even though the true extent of your relationship with him remained concealed.
When someone probed further, questioning whether he was a true gentleman, you didn't hesitate to affirm their assumption.
"Indeed, he carries himself with grace and respect, embodying the essence of a true gentleman. His actions and words reflect a genuine sense of chivalry and courtesy."
The admiration for Jing Yuan seemed to know no bounds, and the conversation continued to revolve around him. Each lady shared their own perspectives, recounting moments where he had displayed kindness, wisdom, and bravery. It was as if his presence had left an indelible mark on each of them, a testament to the powerful allure of Jing Yuan.
The tea party drew to a close and the sun began its gradual descent. With heartfelt farewells and expressions of gratitude, you bid your esteemed guests adieu. Each of them conveyed their delight and anticipation of future gatherings, hopeful that Jing Yuan might once again honor them with his presence.
With the departure of the final guests, the grand gates of the estate closed with a decisive thud behind them. The atmosphere shifted from vibrant conversation to a tranquil stillness, and the air seemed to grow quieter. The setting sun cast a radiant, golden hue across the surroundings, imbuing the estate with a serene luminosity.
In this newfound tranquility, your attention was drawn to the lingering figure of Suyin. Her presence stood solitary amidst the fading daylight. Your gazes met, and in that moment, an unspoken understanding passed between you.
Drawing closer to her, you couldn't help but wonder why she chose to remain while her entourage waited by the gates. A curiosity gleamed in her eyes, hinting that she might have something of importance to share, something that demanded a more private conversation.
As you stood face to face, a gentle breeze stirred, rustling the edges of your attire. The soft sound of leaves in motion carried an undercurrent of anticipation, as if nature itself recognized the significance of this impending exchange.
The estate, once teeming with the energy of the gathering, now held a quiet reverence, as if it had become a canvas for a more intimate connection. You waited, your gaze steady as it met Suyin's, open to whatever she might wish to share, her unspoken words hanging in the air like a delicate secret waiting to be unveiled.
"Lady Suyin, allow me to bid you farewell," you said, inclining your head respectfully as you addressed her. "I extend my gratitude for gracing my hosted tea party today. I trust you will take due care on your journey back."
To your surprise, Suyin waved her hand in a slightly frantic manner, a faint flush coloring her cheeks.
"No, it is I who should express gratitude, particularly for the incident earlier," she replied, her gaze shifting modestly downward as her fingers gently intertwined.
You offered a gentle smile, seeking to clarify the matter. "It appears there might be a misunderstanding. My involvement in the conversation amongst the ladies was not meant as assistance, but rather a means to curtail an annoyance. Your gratitude is truly unwarranted."
Suyin blinked, her lips parting as she absorbed your explanation. "I-I see. My apologies for the confusion... However, I still wish to convey my appreciation for inviting me despite the rumors that circulate regarding my family."
Her gratitude radiated with authenticity, and her smile held a genuine warmth as she tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. With a final wave, she turned to depart, offering her farewells.
"I found today quite enjoyable, Lady (Name). May our paths cross again in the future.”
"Likewise."
As Suyin and her retinue commenced their departure from the estate, you remained stationary, your gaze affixed to their gradually receding figures. The ambiance turned a subtle change as the event reached its conclusion, leaving you in a contemplative solitude.
"Yuyan," you beckoned, and the young woman promptly materialized at your side.
"Yes, Lady (Name)?"
Without turning to meet her gaze, you conveyed your instruction.
"Share with me the particulars of what unfolded during my absence."
"As you command."
With Yuyan trailing in your wake, you initiated your stride back into the estate, her narrative voice recounting the sequence of events that had transpired in your absence.
"Upon your departure, the ladies engaged in a brief conversation concerning the General, subsequent to which the discourse pivoted back to Lady Suyin," Yuyan reported, and you offered a faint hum to signal her to continue. "The heiress of the Xiang clan maintained a composed silence throughout, refraining from participating in the exchange that included disparaging commentary directed at her."
Your intuition has once again proven its accuracy. The moment you elected to withdraw with Jing Yuan, your foresight had accurately detected the currents of uncertainty and unease that had lingered in the shadows during your presence. The conversations revolving around the state of the Xiang clan had been steeped in discontent and unease, stifled by the apprehension of voicing their true thoughts in your proximity.
Indeed, your standpoint diverged significantly from their criticisms and viewpoints. Your perspective was characterized by another vision, one that challenged the prevailing sentiment and notions. The absence of your influence had furnished them with the freedom to converse openly, to articulate their concerns without the weight of your presence casting a pall over their expressions.
However, the realization that they were utilizing Suyin as a canvas on which to project their grievances was distasteful. They were exploiting the opportunity to release their frustrations and criticisms, unburdened by your watchful gaze.
That circumstance was laced with irony. The image of Suyin, being subjected to their unfiltered words left a bitter residue in your perception.
You offered a wry scoff, acutely aware of the intricate dynamics at play. It was evident that they perceived Suyin as an easy target, a vulnerable entity incapable of retaliating against their barrage of reproaches. The metaphorical mice, encircling her with predatory anticipation, were poised to strike at the first whiff of vulnerability, thereby sketching a stark tableau of their behavior.
"Is that the entirety of the account?"
"Indeed, that is all. Yet, it appears that you possess the ability to invoke a sense of trepidation among the ladies, Lady (Name)."
"I wonder why that might be."
"I am confident that your interruption was the cause.” Her reply carries an unwavering conviction, a subtle undercurrent of astute observation. “They did not foresee your dissenting viewpoint on the subject. However, I must acknowledge their acting skills; their demeanor took a swift transformation the instant they laid eyes upon you and the General."
The eloquent arch of your eyebrow signifies your comprehension of the complexities of aristocracy.
"You are already well-acquainted with the attitudes and behavior of the noble class, Yuyan. Such pretense is akin to an illustration in an exhibit, where the unspoken sentiments between them are revealed with a mere glance – unless, of course, one chooses to remain in blissful ignorance."
Her nod conveys a blend of concurrence and insight. "I am well aware."
"Undoubtedly, that should be the case. After all, we are deeply entrenched within the same very category. We project a veneer that withstands facile unraveling, a shield designed to obscure the intentions we've painstakingly constructed."
You smirk.
Tumblr media
Positioned on your knees, you find yourself in the presence of Lady Mingzhu. Her features are graced with a self-satisfied smirk, her gaze descending upon you from her elevated perch upon the platform.
The cause behind the contentment etched across her countenance is not a mystery to you. After all, you had dutifully relayed the details of Jing Yuan's unexpected visit.
"I find myself gratified by the outcome, (Name). Your utility is on a steady ascent," she remarks, her fingers idly toying with the folds of her fan.
In response to her words, you execute a graceful bow, a gesture that echoes your respect. "Your satisfaction is truly an honor, Lady Mingzhu. Might I seek your guidance on whether my visits to the seat of divine foresight should persist?"
"Did he extend an invitation for your return?"
Your response is a simple, affirmative nod.
"Then it is resolved. Forge ahead with your frequent encounters with the General. Your consistent presence shall act as a catalyst to cultivate his trust," she decrees, the flourish of her fan punctuating her statement. A subtle, contemplative smile tugs at her lips. "Additionally, do not withhold from me the details of your interactions with the ladies hailing from esteemed clans."
"The tea gathering is all well," you disclosed, your words an opening into the narrative. "However, the assembled ladies have become entangled in the swirling tendrils of gossip, centered around none other than the Xiang clan."
A thoughtful pause accompanies her response, her voice a contemplative murmur.
"The Xiang clan, you say…" Her words hang momentarily, as if she's allowing the essence of that name to linger in the air. "Whispers that flutter through the corridors of intrigue suggest that the Feng clan, in a twist of fate, chose to annul the intended union between their son and the daughter born of the Xiang lineage."
"Indeed, the gossip does not falter in its accuracy."
A faint, almost indiscernible exhalation of exasperation escapes the matriarch's lips, a subtle display of her vexation.
"I stand bereft of the specifics regarding the precipitous untangling of the Xiang clan's circumstances."
Your eyebrow arches in a silent inquiry, a slight perplexity glistening in your gaze. It's a puzzle that the matriarch, renowned for her omniscience within high society, remains unaware of the Xiang clan's underlying turmoil.
"I've gleaned from the ladies that the Xiang clan faces the looming specter of financial decline."
"Naive individuals," she proclaimed with unwavering certainty, deepening your sense of bewilderment. "Whispers regarding their financial downfall are nothing but baseless conjectures. The clan commands vast riches, establishing themselves as eminent investors in the Sky-Faring commission. Moreover, their enterprises flourish across various city districts, spanning diverse trades within numerous Xianzhou fleets and other worlds. Thus, the notion of their impending bankruptcy appears unfounded. No substantiated proof attests to the precariousness of the Xiang clan's fiscal standing."
Jing Yuan's information had indeed proven accurate. The purported bankruptcy of the Xiang clan was naught but a wisp of rumor carried on the wind.
It appeared to be a baseless rumor designed to bolster the justification for the dissolved engagement between Suyin and Yichen. The genuine cause behind the severed betrothal lingered veiled in obscurity, a missing puzzle piece within the intrigue enshrouding the Xianzhou Luofu.
Jing Yuan's knowledge spanned an extensive spectrum, encompassing minutiae from the lowest strata of society to the apex of the privileged elite. His insights stood as a testament to his acumen, a reality that invoked both appreciation and wariness concerning his capabilities. However, as you contemplated your personal pursuit of information, a formidable challenge lay ahead.
The endeavor of gathering intelligence was a task far from straightforward. While Jing Yuan possessed the means to acquire information with seeming ease, your own endeavors would undoubtedly incite suspicions amidst his subordinates and, conceivably, within Jing Yuan himself. Upholding your facade while concurrently seeking out knowledge promised to be a precarious venture.
The course you were embarking upon necessitated discretion. You had to devise methods of amassing information devoid of provoking undue suspicion, to ascertain the truth without tipping your hand.
"More crucially," her words pierce the air, laden with an undertone of interrogation, "what prompted your selection of that particular simpleton as your handmaiden?"
As Lady Mingzhu's query unfurls, your jaw instinctively clenches in a subtle display of tension. The skepticism and veiled suspicions that mar her gaze do not elude your discerning gaze. Nevertheless, you meet her gaze with a mask of unwavering stoicism, deftly concealing the undercurrent of nerves that thrash beneath the surface.
"After careful consideration, I determined that ensuring her presence within close proximity under my vigilant supervision would be the wisest approach. This decision aimed to preempt any possibility of disgrace arising from impulsive or thoughtless actions."
However, the matriarch's response is not one of immediate acquiescence. Instead, her eyes narrow, her perceptive gaze slicing through your carefully constructed narrative like a keen-edged blade. Her scrutiny is unyielding, as though she seeks the minutest fracture in your facade, a chink to exploit.
"Doubt clouds my assessment of your assertion. Are you confident that she won't repeat any errors, considering the embarrassment she displayed in my presence?!" Her voice rumbles forth, her words laced with a potent mix of skepticism and latent anger.
The growl in her tone sends a shiver cascading down your spine, a visceral response to her simmering ire. Your lungs contract involuntarily as you draw in a sharp breath, the weight of her displeasure hanging palpably in the air.
"Rest assured," your words slice through the charged atmosphere. "I shall take every conceivable measure to ensure her conduct does not veer into dishonorable territory. Should she falter in this, I pledge to rectify the situation with my own hands."
Her gaze remains steadfast, a scrutiny that seems to delve into the very essence of your being. Yet, as the seconds tick by, her shoulders gradually relax, and a scoff punctuates her response.
"Your conviction must be unswerving, for should history repeat itself and her actions mirror her past disgrace," her words resound with a cadence of threat, "the repercussions will not be limited to her alone. They will extend to you as well."
A tacit awareness envelops you, an intimate understanding honed through countless interactions. You've borne witness to her impatience and meticulous tendencies, often finding yourself caught in the tempest of her ire. A deep well of knowledge about her character has crystallized within you, equipping you with the tools to navigate her disposition and soothe her volatile temperament.
"I understand," your voice is a measured reflection of your comprehension, your gaze inclined respectfully downward.
"I shall convey my directives to the head chef, ensuring your midday repast is prepared for your journey to the seat of divine foresight on the morrow. Let it be known that recklessness is a path barred to you. This point I shall emphasize." Her words contain a warning. "Are there any remaining matters you deem necessary to append?"
Lingering at the precipice of your response, you navigate a delicate balance, crafting words that straddle the line between respect and diplomacy. While veiled, your intentions bear the weight of necessity, a safeguard rooted in contingency and the promise you've given to Yuyan. Risk lurks within your unspoken request, yet the stakes have elevated to a point where reticence is no longer a viable option.
Your throat works as you swallow, an apparent tension coiling within you.
"If I may abandon all artifice, Lady Mingzhu, I dare to beseech your gracious consideration for an allowance that might prove pivotal in moments of unforeseen urgency."
In the wake of your unreserved statement, a sense of vulnerability lingers, mingled with a quiet resolve. You watch as her gaze remains upon you, the weight of your words settling in the room like suspended particles in the air.
"Further, I must admit that the esteemed ladies have extended invitations to me for forthcoming events within their esteemed circle. If it pleases you to permit me this privilege, I shall diligently steward the allowance you entrust me with, employing it judiciously for the advancement of our cause."
A bow punctuates your candid request, a silent sign of deference and respect. A pause ensues, elongated and weighty, as if the chamber itself holds its breath.
"It is, undeniably, a prudent proposal," she concedes, her voice a measured cadence of reason. "Given the unmistakable spotlight that accompanies your connection to our lineage, a discreet allowance serves to quell the murmurings of presumption, negating any conjectures of an unostentatious existence."
Her rationale deepens as she delves further with justification.
"Moreover, the renown of the Hongying clan lies in its splendor, a legacy not to be trifled with. Thus, it seems wise to liberate you to expend as you deem fit. However, I must underscore that the amount you receive is not a carte blanche for extravagance. Your actions must bear the mark of prudence, and your disbursements must align with the meticulous strategy underpinning your mission."
The thorn that had lodged itself within your contemplations appeared to have been finally extracted, ushering in a sensation of relief that cascaded over you akin to a refreshing breeze on a warm afternoon. The matriarch's accord with your entreaty for an allowance had bestowed upon you a modicum of tranquility. It was almost as though a burden, which had weighed upon your shoulders, had been deftly lifted, affording you a renewed sense of unhindered breath.
This newfound financial stipend carried a resonance that harmonized profoundly with your innate sense of duty. It was a pledge you had forged to Yuyan, a commitment to secure the necessary medication her ailing mother urgently required. Despite your aversion to materialistic yearnings and the absence of need for an exorbitant sum, the import of this allowance transcended its mere pecuniary value.
Attuning yourself to the sagacity imparted by the matriarch yielded its own rewards. The cloud of uncertainty looming on the distant horizon lent an air of foreboding to the days that lay ahead. Thus, maintaining a reservoir of funds at your disposal bore the semblance of a wise course of action, a prudent measure in anticipation of the future.
"I bestow upon you this indulgence as a reflection of the commendable diligence you exhibit in your appointed duties," her words exude an air of benevolent authority, each syllable a nod to your competence.
The reward, a token of appreciation for your meticulous efforts, carries a weight beyond its mere material value. She raises a languid hand, the fan she holds becoming a subtle extension of her demeanor.
"You are tasked with notifying Yiran of this privilege. Seek her counsel on matters related to this allowance. Dismiss any trepidation from your thoughts. Should you find yourself bereft of further discourse, your departure is in order. Await my summons, should necessity arise."
In response to her directive, you execute a final bow, your gratitude woven into the graceful arc of your gesture. A sense of accomplishment settles within you as you step away from the chamber, a triumphant curl embellishing your lips as you traverse the corridors.
With the matter resolved, it is necessary that you meet with Yuyan to discuss the agenda for tomorrow.
The quietude of your room becomes a backdrop to the candid exchange that unfurls between you and Yuyan. Amidst the rustle of turning pages and the soft swish of cloth against glass, the question you pose becomes the catalyst for a deeper connection.
"You know," your voice, a gentle tone of inquiry, breaks the silent ambiance as you raise your eyes from your reading material. "I find myself still awaiting your response regarding your prior profession."
The task at hand momentarily forgotten, Yuyan's gaze lifts from her window-wiping duties to meet yours, a glint of amusement lurking within her eyes.
"It appears that your curiosity is a force that will not waver until it's sated."
"Indeed, that very curiosity was the initial spark that led you to your current role under my supervision."
A sigh escapes her lips, the sound a fleeting whisper that blends with her exhalation. She resumes her chore, cloth against glass.
"I used to be a mercenary.”
"Ah, it would seem that your dexterity and fleetness of reflex find their origins in your previous occupation."
"And what of you? What story lies behind your own proficiency?"
A wistful note resonates in your voice as you share your own tale. "I was guided by the tutelage of a seasoned swordsman, one whose mastery became my beacon."
Yuyan's hums echo with a blend of curiosity and contemplation, her cloth continuing its rhythmic dance across the windowpane.
"And where does this master reside now?"
A moment of suspended movement unrolls, as your hand, poised to flip a page, hesitates in mid-air.
The question regarding your master's fate, an innocent query tethered to a distant past, strikes like a blow to a tender wound. Your visage, a portrait of silent resolve, tenses with a visible tightness as the memories, vivid and haunting, rise to the surface. The pain of those recollections, etched into your very being, remains unhealed even after the passage of centuries.
"Deceased," your voice is a measured, stoic utterance, a single word that carries the weight of a lifetime's worth of loss.
The page flips, a motion that seems to reflect your determination to proceed despite the unyielding ache that persists within you.
Yuyan's contrite apology is a whisper in the space between you, a fragile acknowledgment of the unseen wounds that thread through your history. Your response is a subtle, understanding shake of your head, a gesture that both addreses her empathy and signals your desire to steer the conversation away from that painful precipice.
"Tomorrow," your voice steadies, an anchor in the shifting currents of conversation. "We shall embark upon a visit to the seat of divine foresight. Be prepared to await instructions at a designated location, as communicated by Jing Yuan's counselor. If any information surfaces that you deem pertinent to our purpose, ensure it finds its way to my attention."
"Duly heeded.”
The air carries the weight of upcoming directives as your voice assumes its authoritative timbre once more.
"Looking ahead to the following week, I task you with a specific errand. Seek Yiran's presence and confer with her regarding the administration of my allowance. This reaponsibility shall fall under your purview, and it is imperative that you relay my command directly to her."
A flicker of confusion dances within Yuyan's features, visible to your discerning gaze. The mixture of uncertainty and inquiry in her expression triggers your next question.
"Do you doubt your own competence, Yuyan?"
"It's not a question of capability. I can certainly manage financial matters. It's more that I find myself taken aback by your willingness to entrust me with such a task."
Your own expression remains composed as you deliver your retort. "If your confidence in handling finances matches your skills in combat, then I have no reason to harbor doubts."
“Did the possibility not cross your mind that I could potentially embezzle funds?”
Your response comes with a subtle tilt of your head.
"The prospect of embezzlement does not occupy my concern. Whether you were to steal those funds or not, the ultimate destination remains unaltered. Those resources will invariably find their way to the ailing hands of your mother, serving to alleviate her afflictions. The allowance I possess is, in essence, earmarked for her medical needs. Thus, the outcome, irrespective of any perceived misappropriation, remains constant. I stand to lose nothing."
A flicker of disbelief paints Yuyan's face, her jaw figuratively dropping under the weight of your unorthodox perspective. Your response, laced with an air of detachment and an acute understanding of her predicament, emphasizes a larger truth that anchors your intentions.
A playful, incredulous shake of her head precedes her words, carrying a mix of resignation and amusement.
"You truly are something else."
"Perhaps.”

A palpable tension paints the scene, your gaze locked in a silent exchange with the formidable presence before you. The massive white lion, a regal figure cloaked in an aura of restrained hostility, holds your attention captive. Its eyes, an unrelenting blaze of intensity, bore into your own with a raw, unspoken animosity. The low rumblings that emanate from its throat signal a simmering anger that hangs in the air, a perceptible threat that reverberates in the very sinews of its powerful form. Its bared teeth, glistening and deadly, serve as a stark reminder of the potential danger that lurks beneath its majestic exterior.
Beside this living embodiment of nature's fury stands Jing Yuan, a serene smile gracing his features. His demeanor, seemingly untouched by the latent hostility of the creature, exudes a sense of affinity and control. His fingers trail through the lion's fur, a tactile testament to his harmonious connection with this wild animal. As he catches your gaze, his expression takes on a pleased quality, as if he delights in sharing this new aspect of his life with you.
Confusion lingers in the air as your gaze shifts between the lion and Jing Yuan. Questions clamor at the edges of your thoughts, begging for answers that seem elusive.
Why is there a lion here, a creature of the wild brought into the heart of your encounter? And perhaps more confounding is the nonchalant stance of Yanqing, who stands nearby, seemingly unperturbed by the presence of this predator.
"I wished for you to acquaint yourself with a companion of mine," Jing Yuan's voice, a measured tone, intrudes upon the tense atmosphere. His fingers continue their gentle exploration of the lion's fur, as if to convey a sense of tranquility in the midst of the lion's potential ferocity.
A note of skepticism colors your response, a hint of incredulity as you grapple with the surreal reality before you.
"Oh, a lion as your companion? What is her name?"
Your curiosity stirs further as Yanqing joins the conversation, bridging the gap with an explanation that sheds light on the creature's history.
"The General affectionately named her Mimi during her days as a kitten. But, as she matured into the formidable animal you see before you, he now calls her Snowlion."
A flicker of amusement dances in your eyes as you gaze at Jing Yuan, an ironic smile adorning your lips. The incongruity between the fearsome image he projects and the endearing name he bestowed upon his companion elicits a chuckle.
"Mimi? A name so endearing seems rather incongruous with your demeanor, General. It's a far cry from the perception that the locals hold of you."
A snort from Yanqing echoes your sentiment, his amusement evident in the subtle curl of the corners of his mouth. Jing Yuan's response is marked by a sheepish smile, his admission laced with a touch of self-deprecation.
"In truth, it was an oversight on my part. During Mimi's infancy, I mistook her for a common house cat. Thus, the name. But as time unfolded, her true nature revealed itself, prompting a renaming that befits her.”
Your gaze shifts to the lion, whose intense glare and low growls paint a picture of unrelenting hostility. A realization takes root within you; it seems Jing Yuan's pet lion isn't particularly enamored with your presence. The mounting tension is discernible, a coiled anticipation that snakes through the air.
The sudden eruption of a roar shatters the quietude, the lion's reverberating cry setting your nerves on edge. Your body tenses involuntarily, a primal fear coursing through your veins as your heart races in response. The guard stationed near the statue leaps in startled surprise, while Yanqing's composure falters for a fleeting moment. Jing Yuan himself gazes at his companion with a mixture of surprise and confusion, the unexpected display of aggression leaving him momentarily perplexed.
"Snowlion," he intones with a firmness that carries an undertone of command, yet the lion's glare remains unyielding, its growls a testament to its unchecked hostility.
Your voice cuts through the charged atmosphere, a mixture of calm and resignation lacing your words as you voice the obvious.
"It appears that I'm not on Mimi's good side, Jing Yuan."
His attention, along with Yanqing's, pivots towards you as you stand amidst the tension, a steady presence despite the unease that rages within you. The anxious rhythm of your heartbeat is a counterpoint to your outward demeanor, an artful front that conceals the roiling currents beneath.
“It's normal for Mimi to express displeasure toward certain guests who visit the seat of divine foresight. Which, I share the sentiment of disfavor for each of them as well “
An understanding smile curves your lips as Yanqing rushes to clarify the lion's selective antagonism. His words stumble upon an unintended implication, a truth he hastens to correct.
"No, no! I mean, not you. It's just that Mimi tends to react to guests who I bore a distaste for. But you're not one of them! I like you."
"Thank you, Yanqing. I appreciate your kind words. I hold a favorable opinion of you as well."
Yet, amidst this exchange of mutual regard, Jing Yuan remains a silent observer, his gaze an inscrutable force that seems to dissect your every nuance.
The intensity of his scrutiny is apparent, a trace that awakens a sense of caution within you. Your question, a protective reflex, pierces the silence with its sharpness.
"Is there something on your mind, Jing Yuan?"
"I apologize, I seem to have been lost in thought. Perhaps it's best if I were to return Snowlion to her quarters. One can't be too cautious, as unforeseen events could transpire."
His summoning of Qingzu heralds the resolution to this unexpected confrontation, the counselor's compliance evident as she steps forward to retrieve the lion. The tension seems to crescendo as Snowlion lets out one final, resonating roar before yielding to Qingzu's command. The lion's retreat is a mesmerizing sight; its white, fluffy coat sways with an illusion of innocence, masking the underlying threat it had represented just moments before. Its lingering gaze, fixed on you with the residue of antagonism, emphasizing its untamed nature.
Jing Yuan's disappointment is recognizable, his eyes tracing the lion's departure with a sigh of resignation. It's evident that his intentions to introduce his companion to you have not yielded the outcome he had anticipated. The initial excitement that had colored his introduction now takes on a tinge of thwarted ambition.
Apology tints his voice as he addresses you, an apologetic smile gracing his lips.
"Please accept my apologies for this unforeseen occurrence. Snowlion is quite particular about those she allows in her proximity. I hope her display of aggression did not disturb you."
You respond with a reassuring nod. "Animals, especially those untamed by nature, often exercise caution with unfamiliar faces. It's a natural instinct for them."
The exchange takes on a lighthearted note as you muse about the potential for future encounters. Your words carry a note of optimism, a playful anticipation of what might come to pass.
"Perhaps, with time, Snowlion might grow accustomed to my presence and warm up to me."
"I have no doubt that she will, (Name)."
