love for love’s sake really said, “get in loser, we’re gonna make the unloved side character HAPPY” and they have all my respect for that

Do you have any recommendations in the sea of BL we are currently having ? To be honest, I think all the good drama are coming to an end and I feel there are a lot of low quality BL on air. I am watching Cutie pie and you’re my sky that I enjoy and I am waiting for Kinnporsche but I tried after finishing Not me and semantic error to start new BL by watching Secret crush on you and my first love again but I didn’t enjoy any of them. Secret crush is not bad but I really have a hard time with all the cringe. For my first love again, I have the same problem for it than the vast majority of Korean BL, innovative idea and plot that change from the university setting we are used but unfortunately there is a lack of budget and manoeuvre which lead to the finale result not looking good when it has potential in the paper. I must admit I compare KBL to Kdrama a lot which I know is insane because BL doesn’t have support yet. I wanted to start My tuxedo but everyone said how messy it was when the trailer looked really good.
So... I am probably not the best for this? I literally watch everything and I can almost always find something to enjoy in a show.
But let me think!
Both My Ride and La Cuisine are giving us fantastic sweetness and wholesome characters and soft boys who are finding their friendship and their love together. I highly recommend both of them, honestly, and I think they're SUPER fun. My Ride is going to end concurrently with Enchante (which is... fine, that's all it gets is a fine from me but you might enjoy it if you wanna go light and not think deeply... like I do.) but La Cuisine just started.
Cherry Blossoms After Winter is another KBL currently airing that I, personally, love beyond all logic and measure. It's very traditional yaoi with lots of pining and very soft boys who are going to hurt each other by being self-sacrificing and I love them so much. I'd consider it closer to Semantic Error than a lot of others but it's also just much softer and slower.
Something In My Room makes me happy and it generally an enjoyable show. Not the highest budget but I really enjoy the characters and the story so far has been interesting.
I am enjoying Secret Crush on You but it took a few episodes to grow on me and, frankly, I'm mostly there for the sake of the side couples and not the main couple at all. I do think it's going to turn out better than we expect but it's also VERY long and that does worry me.
Love Stage!! is just very fun and light and the biggest issue is trying to find episodes with subs because it's all gray and slightly frustrating but it's genuinely a very enjoyable show. Absolutely recommend looking this one up.
Of the ones airing right now, I think these are all your best bets. Our Days is an even pulpier/low budget You're My Sky (but with more accurate sports/sports medicine!), Physical Therapy is just a mess, The Tuxedo and DNA Says I Love You are both messy. Twinkle Twinkie Little Star is just another low budget Pinoy BL that is just good enough to keep me watching. Blue of Winter is the first true Korean pulp and... I mean, it's cute and fun but it's got no budget and it's just four 8 minute episodes so... might be worth a tiny try? Also, bromance-wise, Kei x Yaku just completed and I sincerely enjoyed this little show. Very dramatic, very strong bonds and friendship and very much playing with bromance/BL line which I enjoy as well, tbh.
KinnPorsche is coming soon, alongside Blueming, I do highly recommend looking up Absolute BL 2 because that's just pure joy. But otherwise... I dunno? I'm, personally, dreading Cupid's Last Wish starting on Sunday but I watch everything.
@absolutebl I really don't know what else is starting soon but I think this is good coverage of what's on air.
