So that Unbalanced AU idea...

So, I had a thought that if I ever had the spoons to write this idea in a proper story and not just make up snippets and such that each chapter would have like these excerpts from scholarly papers, journals, letters, etc. that would take place like far in the future when Hallownest is really gone and people are you know, piecing together its history. Before it goes into the actual, you know story of everything going sideways because of Vessels surviving and having a hivemind and stuff. *sparkle hands* so I'm just going to put those random excerpts here since I'm fighting enough as it is with the spoons for the one fic I started and trying to be motivated to keep going. So yeah, dumping ground time for fic bits and snippets.

Kingdoms.

A word, a symbolism, a place of home, or a place of awe. There are many connotations connected to what seems to be a simple word. How this world has become such an important word for many, especially among bug kind is ambiguous at best; unknown at worst. All that is known is that Kingdom has become a word one attaches to a civilization that has transcended the boundaries of simple clan and groups squabbling for survival in harsh climes and dangerous locales.

Ah, but one can not just band a group together and call themselves a kingdom. No, while there are those who attempt such; creating clans and groups of villages under one rule. The title of Kingdom has always been of Sacred connotations. For every great Kingdom that has risen and whose name has been whispered among travelers and pilgrims, it has always had a touch of Divine to them. Whether it be by blessings, by the founding be from one of holy dispositions, by one with ichor flowing in their shell, or even by a god themselves taking interest in the realm of mortal affairs. These places imbued with sanctifying power have always risen higher and greater than any purely mortal civilization has ever achieved.

Yet, what causes these beings of higher and seemingly astronomical power to set foot onto a land and decry it to be under their domain?

A question that will likely be one of the questions pondered by scholars for decades to come.

It is these questions that have made many a scholar turn their gazes, and hone their blades towards a Kingdom that boasted not one, but at least five different gods through its rise, fall, and rebirth. A Kingdom of great renown and growth, and thus an even greater tragedy when its fall would show us why when Gods feud, all shall suffer. For who does not know of the great Kingdom of Hallownest? One whose origin seems tumultuous and mired in conflict and possessive grips of gods from times far older than even we may truly understand. The hints and findings of those brave enough to enter into the depths below the ruins of what had once been the great palace of the Pale King. The records of before the Pale King, where the Radiance had ruled, and even the scattered remnants that showed the rise of Hallownest under the Pale King’s gaze, and the plague that would bring it low. Each excursion into the depths, and the findings of those who had lived through this era of uncertainty and conflict have created a tapestry that each new thread only adds vibrancy and clarity to what we know of this Kingdom of Gods.

What is unclear in all of our findings of this kingdom from so long ago, the question that haunts every chronicler and history seeker wishing to know the truth of the path that led to its rebirth…

What stopped the Radiance’s curse for a time?

In all findings and piecing of a timeline of this city, there seems to be a blatant attempt to hide away the time period when the Pale King found a way to stop the plague riddling his subjects and when the plague returned somehow even more terrible than before. Even the means in which the plague was completely eradicated from the paths and depths of this kingdom is contradictory and purposefully shrouded from the attempts of history to record the ruins of this kingdom finding its footing once more and rising again for a time. Even the journals of those who had sought out answers when survivors of this time were alive and aware, can not seem to agree on what happened. The frustration in the words and pen strokes of these seekers of the truth is clear to any to see as they list the many ways that citizens refused, were clearly unaware, or obfuscated the answer to the main question being asked during the clean up at the plague’s end.

Perhaps there are answers hidden amidst artifacts that are rarer than the most precious of gems. Artifacts of the royal family, and of those that are only ever called Vessels when written about. A title only ever seen in passing within the few documents that point to there being more than just a battle of Gods in that era of Hallownest’s history. A title and speculations from a more radical branch of scholarly pursuit that have taken on the notion that there was another God involved in all of this.

An even more radical faction within the Studium has even begun believing that this tumultus time was the birthing of new gods.

This scholar finds these hypotheses fairytale-like and outlandish with how little evidence there is to support these theories of just what happened during the era of the Dreaming Plague. Thus, they shall only be mentioned as proof that every avenue was listened to at the time of the writing of this report. However, as this is meant to be a postulation of historical facts presented from actual evidence and records found and excavated from the depths of Hallownest, these theories will not be given more than a passing mention as we delve into the history and mystery that was a Kingdom considered to have been one of the greatest of Kingdoms to have ever risen.

my cats! the oldest is named pixie. (for the record i suggested artemis and apollo as names but was swiftly shut down. i have a family of haters)

and yes we dont get snow here. at least my part of canada. i live at pretty much sea-level on the coast so its just rain sadly. but pretty much like. every other part of canada will see snow in the winter at some point or another !

(hey another rarepair) but fear not the series is actually good. and theres like a million sequel & prequel series within it so you dont really have time to think about the incest .

and yes podg! the movie with ben barnes is a HORRIBLE adaptation. like its so different from the book so beware. but its still mildly entertaining bc ben barnes is gorgeous so.

poutine! omg im so glad you asked me this question. in short its just french fries covered in gravy and cheese curds. a lot of people think it sounds gross/think it looks gross (it does look...questionable sometimes) but i SWEAR its so good. very good comfort food & and strangely good when you go to the movies.

unpopular marauders opinion......hmm. maybe that barty would be well suited as a ravenclaw? i know his house has never been confirmed but he canonically got 12 OWLS so the boy is SMART plus he SLAYED being the DADA prof. (not that other houses arent smart. u know what i mean) (but i still love him in the slytherin gang. they have my whole heart)

unpopular opinion about life: its okay to be weird and just silly sometimes. some people are just so caught up in being "normal" that they forget that we're all just. people. like its okay to be silly and live our lives the way we want! (maybe not an unpopular opinion but i know there are people out there that are just. really stuck up & could do well to remember this LOL)

dream car - i dont drive so IDK LOL but ive always liked colourful cars. like give me a bright red or forest green or cobalt blue car. theres a SEVERE lack of colourful cars on the road nowadays its so sad.

I’ve been looking for a good, solid, in-character Naley RP for what feels like forever and I would love to find one because I love them so much. I have about 4 years of experience playing Haley altogether and am looking for someone who is just as passionate about Naley, both as individuals and as a couple, as I am. 

 This is Us: I just watched the newest episode and I SWEAR, every new episode I watch of this show, I get the bug to spend some more time with the Pearsons. This is just one of the ways that I do that, typically. I will literally play the characters as fruit snacks if it means I get to play them at all. The Outsiders: I am looking for a Darry Curtis for this. My idea is basically he had a girlfriend who was a cheerleader in high school and they kinda broke away after he had to take care of Sodapop and Ponyboy. We can flashback to when they were in high school or play them as adults because I have ideas for that, too. 

 High School Musical: I would play Gabriella and am ideally looking for someone to play Troy as we explore their lives after college. Marriage, kids, etc. 

iCarly: Looking for a Freddie Benson. I have an OC named Olivia, who comes from a big family and is studying to be an astronomer. ok but for a Danganronpa AU, what would all the ultimate talents be for the Ericson kids? Louis is the ultimate pianist obviously. For anyone who has no idea what Danganronpa is, it’s a game in which a group of high school students with incredible talents are locked up in a school [or stuck on an island in dr2] and forced into a killing game by a robotic teddy bear named Monokuma. They have to kill someone and get away with it in order to graduate, and if they’re exposed in the class trial, they’re executed in an ironic way usually associated with their ultimate talent.

Yeah, it’s as bizarre as it sounds. It’s a fun game with great characters, though. Highly recommend if you’re into whodunits with a colorful cast. And each game gets better with each installment so go check it out. 

As for talents...

Clementine the Ultimate Baseball Player: Yeah... I’m one of those who think Clementine would be amazing at sports in a modern AU. I thought about having her be the Ultimate Survivalist, but meh. She would kick everyone’s ass in baseball. 

Like, Javier Garcia who? Leon Kuwata? Don’t know him. 

Clementine’s the best Baseball Player [or is it softball? I never know the difference because they’re the same thing, right? But in school, we had an all-boys baseball team but an all-girls softball team? Whatever, she’s the best as both whatever the differences] with several teams interested in bringing her on to play. Hell, for AU story purposes, you can even say she trained under Javier to be the best.

AJ the Ultimate Voice Actor: Okay, here me out. I know technically AJ wouldn’t be there because he’s obviously not at high school age but I don’t care. It’s a mixed-age class, I don’t know. 

BUT... He’s the Ultimate Voice Actor due to his amazing award-winning performance as- ready for it?- Disco Brocolli in the hit children’s show “Disco Broccoli and Chive Talkin’ Friends.” 

I’m sorry, but I can’t think of anything else and this has me in a fit of giggles with its ridiculousness. Like, little AJ being a child voice actor for this show that he adores?? I love it?? 

Louis the Ultimate Pianist: I mean, you’re right, anon. This boy plays the piano beautifully! I don’t care what the others say!

Like, his backstory with his parents stays the same, but the guilt begins to weigh on him the older he gets and instead of taking choir or doing any other singing programs, he learns to play piano because he still loves music, but thinks he doesn’t deserve to sing like “a real musician.”

He writes and performs his own songs at school concerts and eventually gains recognition for it. And he takes solace in it because of the irreversible damage done to his relationship with his parents. They still love him and they talk and learn to support him, but it’s always a white elephant in the room, y’know? And he puts all of those feelings into his songs and that brings attention to him from the public until his career skyrockets. 

Violet the Ultimate Astronomer: I honestly tried to think of something for Violet, but I have no idea. I thought about making her the Ultimate Leader, but I kind of like the idea of her studying the stars and stuff, y’know? 

Marlon the Ultimate Archer: Because he sure as hell isn’t the Ultimate Leader. The dude can shoot a bow, though. So, we’ll give him that. 

Brody the Ultimate Photographer: I get photographer vibes from Brody. I don’t know. 

Mitch the Ultimate Pyrotechnician: Mitch’s specific talent includes handling and creating fireworks, but he also handles other things since:

“Pyrotechnics is the science and craft of using self-contained and self-sustained exothermic chemical reactions to make heat, light, gas, smoke and/or sound.”

I just love the idea of Mitch upgrading from garage bombs to making actual fireworks. I don’t know, I’m just trying to give him a more unique talent. It doesn’t have to make complete sense. This is for an AU of a game that has the Ultimate Fanfiction Writer as a character, okay? 

Willy the Ultimate Inventor: I like that idea, anon. He starts out small, making little rinky-dinky toys and eventually creates something super useful for everyday life and makes millions off of it or something. 

Tennessee the Ultimate Artist: Super obvious. I know. 

Aasim the Ultimate Anthropologist: Again, hear me out on this one. It would be easy to say he’s the Ultimate Writer because he keeps a diary or whatever, but when you talk to Aasim, he says that he likes to chronicle everything that happened, like a history book to help them not make the same mistakes they did the past. 

What if Aasim was super interested in human behavior within past and present societies, y’know, like what an anthropologist studies? 

And no, he’s nothing like another certain anthropologist. Nothing at all. 

Omar the Ultimate Luckster: Because really, how else did he survive s4? And every class needs an Ultimate Luckster [well, drv3 didn’t but still-] and Omar works. Y’all thought I’d make him the Ultimate Chef? That would’ve been TOO easy. 

Ruby the Ultimate Nurse: It’s obvious but I can’t think of anything else except the Ultimate Yee Haw but I don’t know how that’s a talent so...

Summary: Logan had always thought that being a human meant he had to work harder and faster than everyone else to truly make a difference in the world. When his home is consumed by an intergalactic force known as The Hunger and he’s forced to go on the run through space with six others for a century, he realises that that’s not exactly true.

Or, Logan accepts an offer to join the Institute of Planar Research and Exploration and to travel around the planes for a few months, but ends up hopping realities and dying a whole bunch alongside his mismatched crew members, learning how to love somewhere along the way. 

Excerpts (from the beginning of the fic up to Year 2):

Logan knows that, as a human, he has certain limitations in this world. For one thing, his 80-year expected lifespan is nothing compared to the centuries-old elves and dwarves who are considered teenagers. For another, it means he can’t rely on magic. He doesn’t have enough time to spend it mastering something he was never meant to have.

Logan’s long-since moved on from folklore and the notion of love. Instead, he wants to know how. How can these two massive celestial objects coexist without succumbing to one another's’ gravitational pull? How does his planet, as small as it is, only orbit around the two without being sucked in?

Roman fakes a cough as he exclaims, none-too-quietly, “Nerd alert!”

Logan clears his throat. “Uh, so, we basically aim to explore and research the planes.”

“You don’t say,” he hears Virgil mutter.

God, he can’t imagine living with these people for the next few months.

“Head for the rift!” Logan yells as his Captain maneuvres them through space.

Columns shoot out at them but the Starblaster dodges them with ease. Alarms blast, ringing sharp and shrill as they rocket towards the two suns, picking up speed each nanosecond.

He, Kalumnia, Thomas and the twins are huddled at the front, staring straight forward into the divide.

Patton and Missy are the only ones brave enough to watch as everything they’ve ever known, everyone they’ve ever loved, is consumed.

The population of this strange place is mostly made up of giant creatures that are up to ten, twenty, thirty times their tiny, Phaethonian frames.

“Now I’m not the only dwarf,” Patton jokes when they first hover above the planet, trying to find a safe place to land. Logan lets out a stunned laugh, but it's more from the joy of a new discovery than anything else.

He slides his eyes to his left. In the starlight, Roman’s usual vibrant red robe and equally crimson hair are paler, softer. Instead of his constant smirk and perfect death stare, he seems almost wistful as he too stares into the sky. Logan tears his gaze away and clears his throat.

They see the twins float downwards, blasting off spells as they go, and it’s not long before they’re down there fighting with Missy.

Roman’s body becomes a force of fire, burning bright as he flings massive fireballs into the fray. Virgil summons a massive bolt of lightning and the resulting thunderclap is so loud it hurts Logan’s ears.

“We have to go,” Thomas murmurs. Logan and Patton’s heads whip to him. “We have to go, now!” He says more forcefully this time, and Patton starts arguing with him.

An Announcement About the Astronomical Chronicles

I wanted to post about this sooner, but I was busy with other things. With that out of the way, I'm announcing that I will be completely revamping my Astronomical Chronicles AU. This means that the AU will no longer be a crossover AU and will now be an entirely different and original concept; call it "TAC 2.0" if you will.
