🍏 - How do you get inspiration for whump?

Ooo that’s actually kinda difficult to answer…I have blog notifications on for a few of my favorite whump blogs for their prompts/taste in whump, but that alone rarely gets me in the zone. Reading outside my whump comfort zone (aside from squicks/things I’ve tried and didn’t like) has definitely inspired a lot of my whump writing lately; there’s always new tropes and dynamics to explore! I’ve also been going back to childhood favorites I haven’t revisited in a while - Star Wars did something very whumpy to my brain as a child and it just gets the right neurons firing for me.
