gertrude fucking robinson is one badass motherfucker. she implied the desolation liked her because she was causing devastation upon the cult of the lightless flame and then said "maybe you picked a bad god". think about how sick and twisted and cool that is

that you could spend your entire life worshipping something, but it will still enjoy your destruction because that's its nature. you're not special. your suffering is just food for your god

i really like the idea of gertrude as an anti-avatar of sorts. someone who manages not to align herself fully with any of the fears, but rather uses the fears against their own avatars.

I'm so normal about Agnes Montague. I'm so normal about the fact that she was raised as a symbol and not as a person. So normal about the fact that we don't know anything about her as a person, only about her as the "chosen one". So normal about the fact that we only know about what other people thought of her, that we never had a statement of her but only about her. So normal about the fact she never had a chance at a normal life and love and to be a real person, and when she did she had to sacrifice her life. So normal about the fact that she lived and died for a cult that could have easily replaced her by a piece of paper. So normal about the fact that no one loved her as a person, about that line about how Jude maybe didn't love her as a woman but as a god. So normal about the parallels between her and Jon. So normal. I'm sooooo normal about Agnes Montague

It must be nice, not having a destiny...

Agnes!!! I remembered that Agnes had a connection to Hilltop Road, with the house that Agnes inherited, until she burned it down, so I wanted to draw a house as a nod to that. It is on the top of a hill because of "Hilltop Road," and there is a flame on one window and a spiderweb in another. Agnes herself is disappearing, like a ghost. Perhaps she is known as the "ghost of Hilltop Road," and maybe Cane uses that as a cover for her activities later in the series.

Arbitrary reasons I think The Magnus Protocol will tie in with Agnes Montague

The basis and most arbitrary reason of this theory is the three letters highlighted in “Magnus” in the poster. Accidentally read it as Agnes and formulated a whole theory. I absolutely believe it’s a hint.

Several people on RQ’s post of this picture provided a translation of “We will not falter” or thereabouts. Yes, it clearly plays in witht the concept of bureaucratic identity that Jonny has made clear is crucial to TMP but the entire issue of Agnes’ demise comes from her doubt, from her faltering.

The (TMP) institute burned down in the nineties. Yes fire can come from more than the Cult of the Lightless Flame but c’mon.

Jonny mentioned in one of the Q&A’s (I don’t remember which one) that he would have been liked to have seen Agnes alive within the series but that she had been assigned the role of the saviour in absentia.

Guys I’d just really love to have her around.

ironically the closest thing to a found family in tma were Julia and Trevor, avatars of Hunt (the entity that was explored as a intense suspect 24/7, search for a prey in your pack and e.t.c.) and a bit of The Cult of the Lightness Flame with Agnes, avatars of Desolation (the entity that was explored as a destruction of any emotional bonds)
