7 & 12 for art asks?
Kiitän!!! :D

7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
Hmm. Probably anything to do with handicrafts, so anything from fabrics and sewing to working with wood/metal/clay whatsoever. It's so cool that some people own skills for creating new pieces of clothing (either for everyday use or for e.g. cosplay etc.), or just art or usable objects from other materials.
I myself am so bad at making anything with my hands if it doesn't involve a pen. At school I was so bad at the... mikä kettu on tekstiilityö enkuks? Anyway, I never really got behind knitting or sewing or anything like that. I could do the mandatory stuff at school but often poorly or by finishing maybe 1-2 out of all the numerous projects we had throughout those 6-7 years (on the 3rd grade we had one half working with fabrics, and one half working with wood after which we could choose which one we wanted to take for the rest of the comprehensive school aka until the end of the 9th grade). I think my longest project was this snake plushie. We had to knit something on the 5th grade, and I decided I wanted to knit myself a snake plushie! Which would be as tall as me! I was ~150cm short back then and I decided to knit a 150cm long snake, how difficult could that be? Well, in the end I worked on that for 2 years both at school and "at home" (maybe for like 11 minutes in the whole 2 years), and I never finished it and it only got hardly 10cm long. So, yeah, I've never been good at anything to do with strings or fabrics.
With clay I have worked a bit more at school as well as art school (a hobby after school once a week for about 5-6 years), and I was never really a fan of that either. I still have some of those old clay objects at my parents' house or here at my own place, stuff like a small container or a toothbrush holder (it was a sitting cat and I actually used it at some point). But other than that, I just never really liked it, and clay is really difficult to work with unless you know what you're doing. Which, I did not know what I was doing.
So props to anyone who can work with these mediums and actualy create something decent!

12. Easiest part of body to draw
Eyes!!! I am obsessed with drawing eyes, I don't even know why it's so much fun but it is. Sometimes I get distracted from the human eyes and end up drawing animal eyes... but usually it's human eyes :D Nowadays I can even draw individual eyes without references, which is interesting. Human body is impossible to draw without references unless they're for my comics.
Here are a couple of very recent eye doodles - and one older, as a treat:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The former two are drawn from references (the first sheet is from last year) without sketching anything at first, it's very relaxing to just work with the fineliners. And the third one was a part of my which-is-the-best-order-for-these-art-supplies test, as I needed to find an order that causes the other mediums to smudge the least or none at all, and still the fineliners (Micron) would stick on top of the coloured pencils/watercolour (pencils). That one was the last one of three test eyes I drew and it turned out the best, so I didn't include the rest. (Lmao it actually rhymes, and for three times in a row XDDD I did not plan on that lol.)
Ja huomasin just et lol osaan kirjottaa. Siinä pitäs lukee PYYHKÄRI :D

Ace Comic Con Report!
@shipperhipster and I road-tripped to Arizona for Ace Comic Con in Glendale!  (Afterwards, we made a side-trip to the Grand Canyon to make it a real vacation before heading home - more photos on that later!) BUT wanted to post about the experiences at the con! I did a separate write-up about how awesome it was to meet two of the top Art Designers of the MCU (Andy Park and Ryan Meinerding) HERE There were a lot of ups and downs about the convention itself.  The SUCKIEST was that Chris Evans got sick the 2nd day of the con, which is the day we had our tickets to meet him/get photographs.  It was going to be our first chance to actualy do a photo-shoot with both us with Chris & Seb together, and we were really looking forward to that.  On top of that, Chris was only days off of filming Avengers 4, and he was actually in a rare state of clean-shavenness (which as much as I do love beardy-Steve, he still looks the most like iconic Steve Rogers to me when he’s clean-shaven.  We had planned on capitalizing on that for some photo shoot poses :/ )   That being said, we still feel like we couldn’t be that upset about that. We’ve had the chance to meet him before and took an awesome photo with him.  We had friends there who were going to be meeting him for the first time, and there were even people who had flown in from countries all over the world to meet him that may not have gotten the chance :( That being said, all in all, even with the disappointment of not getting to see Chris Evans, we still had a great time, and the things that did go well went very well.
Tumblr media
Speaking of international visitors, right as we were heading in, an Uber pulled around and asked us if either of us spoke Japanese.  Which was absolutely coincidental since I did actually take four semesters of it in college - even though it had been a long time, I knew enough to help translate between the young woman who had flown in by herself to the convention and the Uber driver.  She was so sweet, another huge stucky fan, and we chatted as we waited in line to get into the con!  (I have a terrible memory for names, but I believe she was Kanoko!)   She was super sweet, excited to be there, and her sister had even spotted us at a different convention before and had photos of us - such a small world!  She had a great movie-accurate Bucky Backpack with her that she was going to get signed ^^
Tumblr media
The Location of the Arena was wonderful - since the stadium is designed to deal with a LOT of people, the area was beautiful with a ton of shops and restaurants in easy-walking distance that could easily handle feeding the crowds.  There was an amazing Japanese place we went to called Kabuki after the con that only had a very short wait and some delicious sushi.  There was a movie theater, Dave & Busters, bars who had decorated to cater to the comic convention crowd, and all-around a great time :) A comic convention IN an arena, however... there were definitely some growing pains.  While the photo shoots were great, and they are run by a different company, all of the autographs were up in the top level of the arena - which meant if you had a narrow time-gap between a photo and an autograph, it could be tough.  You had to sit in the very tight (especially if you were in a costume) nose-bleed seats that were angled so as vertigo could be a thing.  It also meant that when you were waiting for your turn, since they were pulling people up a row at a time, you couldn’t watch other people interact with the guests while you were waiting.
The con also did not allot NEARLY enough time for the autographs.  Sebastian Stan was running over an hour over his allotted time and the staff was rushing him with talking to people - we were at the end of his line, and when we came up he was talking to a handler about why they didn’t budget enough time, and feeling bad bout not getting time with visitors.  Such to the point that while he was signing something for him and we were waiting for him to finish/finish speaking with the staff so we could say hi, one of the staff was trying to rush us out “you got your signature ladies, now go!”  - I’m thankful Shipper said something - along the lines of we paid to at least get the chance to say Hi to him, and poor Seb - was very apologetic even though we weren’t directing it at him/he wasn’t the one trying to rush us out before we said anything.  BUT - My wife got the chance to compliment him on his work on I, Tonya (during the panel, the emcee had spoken to Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans about other roles they’d done, but then asked Seb about The Martian (which he was in like 5 minutes of) and asked how it was working with Ridley Scott (who Seb said was like acting in the dark - NO guidance at all) - and you could tell he was miffed that he hadn’t been asked about I, Tonya since that’s what he’s been promo’ing and the movie is up for some good awards and he has a significant role in it! He also said that he liked my costume!  Eeeee! Another down-side of the arena format was the stairs: we had brought a rolly-bag FULL of the MCU Artbooks (The bag probably weighed like 40 lbs)  for signatures but rolly bags are not convenient for stairs.  Most con floors - sure.  Thanks again to Shipper for hauling it up and down the arena stairs TWICE before we were able to get them signed and taken back to the hotel.  That being said, the upsides were good - All of the Arena staff were absolutely on-point.  They were helpful, concerned about the experience and knowledgeable.  When Chris cancelled they made sure guests had choice of alternatives (subbing-in a different op, doing partial-shoots and refunding the Chris “value” if he wasn’t there, or a full refund) - and stayed late to work on processing refunds.  When the exchange-your-printed-ticket-for a photo-op coupon line got RIDONKULOUS (across the entire arena floor, up the stairs, and around a corner in the next level, arena staff got on it to make sure that people expedited it.  And aside from the lady rushing us at Seb’s table, the rest of the con staff were nice and helpful.  which after Comicpalooza, was incredibly refreshing.
That being said, one of my favorite things about cons - the artists’ alley where you have a lot of craftspeople selling interesting wares - was absent from the con.  They had BIG comic/pop toy/etc dealers on half of the arena floor, and then a big circle of pro artists selling almost exclusively prints (which is great, but I like a variety) all around the (rotunda?) ground floor of the arena hallway.  Then a few different vendors up around the signature area.
Tom Holland was absolutely sweet.  I think that this was his first convention outside of SDCC - where he actually got to meet fans and interact with them.  He had his own private security team that had a second round of checks after the convention group and were more limiting props for shoots, but that’s understandable considering how young he is and how up and coming he is!  (And that this was his first con of this format I think) He was enthusiastic, friendly, and seemed genuinely excited to be there.  He had also volunteered to be a sub-in for Chris Evans with group photo shoots, staying late to help people out.  I missed most of his panel, but it looked like he was having a good time, and Ned’s actor was also thrilled to be there, taking photos of the crowd.   Tom also was having fun peeking out of the curtain of his signature area and waving at the people waiting for him.
Tumblr media
It was still a little weird for me to see all the girls likely half my age heart-throbbing after him XD  I had no idea how popular he was with teens, but it makes sense!   But we were thrilled to meet the MCU Spidey, get his autograph added to our shield, and I think he was an AWESOME Cast!
Tumblr media
Signature Right in the blue in silver! Other things of note - Jon Bernthal makes me squee a little more every time I hear him talk.  He spoke in his panel about the experience that made him an actor.  He had gone to the college for sports, but wasn’t good enough for that to be a long-term career.  He had wound up taking an acting class for an elective because he thought it would be an easy class he could hang in the back of.  IT wasn’t what he expected and when he didn’t prepare for one class where he was supposed to bring a significant object and describe why it was meaningful, and seeing all his classmates breaking into tears talking about the things he brought, he felt put on the spot.  He dug out a baseball glove and made up a story about it being from his grandmother.  He had half the class in tears and felt bad - saying afterwards - no, man, this is just acting - it isn’t true.  The teacher then pulled him aside - and said that he broke the rules of acting - he wasn’t genuine - but that he had a gift.  She made him enroll in the play, and psuhed him.  She changed his life and he tattood her name on his wrist and she officiated his wife and his wedding.
Tumblr media
Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Micro’s actor), on the other hand, obviously didn’t want to be there.  He came an hour late to his signing after a staffmember had to go retreive him, and apparently “came in with an attitude” about being rushed.  He was pleasant enough to us for the signing (and was pleased that people picked up on his character's interpretation being a Snowden analog) - but at the panel he had stank face the whole time, and when asked the same question about what got him into acting it was “it seemed like the most logical choice at the time.”  Moreover, when the emcee asked them about what their favorite role was the other actor had been in, Jon gushed about being a fan of Ebon’s work - his great role on Girls, some of his stagework, and Ebon just.... drew an uncomfortable blank - even after the fact two questions ago Jon had talked about his other roles.  The moderator had to offer him to “come back to him”.  It was kind of awkward.   Anyway!  All in all, the experience was worthwhile - and Shipper’s new iphoneX got some great photos of our cosplays :)

1.
I do not even know, why I wrote about it. It has to be about ten years since I last watched it. But there it was in my head, and I sat and wrote it down. So here it is, my first story. Of course I’m doing this just for fun and without any profit. Hope you enjoy it! Eyerything felt … strange. One moment the colours were to bright, then pale. The noises around him grew louder, then nearly muted before returning to their familiar level. He could feel fine beads of perspiration on his forehead, while it wasn't actualy hot. He mechanicaly rubed his face. It was this movement which drew Summers attention to him. Slowly she lifted her head of Seths lap, eying him sceptical. „You alright there, Ryan?“, she asked, lifting one of her eyebrows. He just noded in response. Seth however seemed to be fully occupied with the movie they started watching half a hour ago and did not even twitch to indicate he listend to them. He only lightly patted Summers arm so she would lie down again and not hover in the edge of his view. Somewhere, deep within Ryans head a voice was screaming, that this could have been the right moment to tell his friends something was kind of … off. But on the other hand, he was still not used to the fact, that now there were people in his life, that were concerned about his wellbeing and up until now he always had managed pretty well by himself.
Maybe he was getting sick. Maybe this were the first signs of a cold or even the flu. No reason to disconcern his friends about something like that. Up until now they were enjoying their movie night they planed for some time. Maybe it was time to go and get some more to drink. The ice tea on the table in front of him had been emptied nearly by Seth alone. Slowly he peeled out of the comforter he had around his shoulders and rose. He felt his face grow cold. The back of his head was prickling. „Anyone anything from the kitchen?“, he asked, not sure if his voice was even loud enough for them to hear. There was this soft hissing in his ears, which seemed to block everything else and Seth' „bring some coke“ reached him like there was cotton blocking his brain. He made an unsteady step. The ground did not seem as solid as he was used. If he wouldend have been so occupied to do the next step, he would have realized Summers eyes were fixed on him by now. „Ryan?“ Squinting her eyes she thrust he boyfreinds side before she hurried to get off the couch herself. Ryan came to a stop, standing now in the middle of his room. The world around him was swaying slightly. His vision became darker and darker before there was ounly emptiness in his head. She reached her friend just in time for Ryans eyes to roll back, his body becoming slack like he was a pupped having its cords cut. His knees buckled. In a swift movement Summer caught the first thing she could reach, it was his collar, and held him upright before she managed to grab him under his arm just as his body tilted backwards. He was, although not quite tall, considerably heavier than her. With some effort she managed to break his fall and let him sink to the floor more smoothly. Just when she kneeled beside him Seth appeard beside her. „Wow, what was that?!“ His voice was full of concern and maybe even a bit panicked. To her own surprise Summer felt strangly calm despite the fact, one of her closest friends just collapsed out of nowhere into her arms. She kept track of Ryans chest rising and falling as he breathed in and out. This was good she realized. Her hand felt for his wrist, searching for his pulse, finding it the first try. Of course she didn't have much experience with stuff like this, but it seemed regular to her, although maybe a little slow, maybe a little weak. Gently she patted Ryans face, calling his name. A low moan was all she got. She turned towards her boyfriend still sitting beside her, watching her anxiously. „Are your parents around“, she asked. It could be a good idea, she thought, if someone with a bit more experience in life, than just two teenagers, would be there to decide what to do now. Without being told twice Seth hurried to get his parents. Already calling their names. Summers mind was racing. What again had it been they taught her about first aid last year, when she was forced to participate in this stupid workshop. Thinking back she thanked her mother for it. Her view got caught by one of Ryans chairs. She went to get it and positioned his legs on its seat so his legs were elevated. Was that the right thing to do? Maybe change him to recovery position? Before she could decide, she saw him stir. The movement was only short but it was there. Again she knelt by his side, touching his shoulder. „Ryan, come on man!“ His eyelids fluttert before closing again. „No, no, no!“ she cried. She again shaked him, not to intens of course, but in a way she hoped it would reach him. Her efforts were rewarded. Ryan  blinked once, twice before he opened his eyes. It was nearly this moment for Kirsten, Sandy and Seth to reach the pool house. Sandy sat down on Ryans other side, one knee on the floor. „Ryan? Can you hear me?“ Slowly, very slowly the teenage nodded his head. It was as if his brain was taking some time was processing what was around him. „How long has he been out?“, Sandy adressed her. Summer had to think about this. „I doubt it could have been more than five minutes“, she answered, even though it had felt like eternity to her. Sandy nodded, indicating he understood. Ryan was gazing between them. He seemed confused. His face was still almost as white as his shirt. „Sandy... Summer...what“ He broke off. Whith shaky hands he rubbed his face, wondering why he was lying on the floor. „Maybe we should send for an ambulance?“ Kirstens voice came from somewhere behind him. „Better wait a moment and then we will decide what to do, I guess“, Sandy answered. „Please Seth, get him some water. You think you can sit up, Ryan?“ Ryan nodded slightly doubtful. He still could not fully understand what was going on around him. He felt Sandys grip around his right arm and Summers aroung his left, when the both of them helped him out of his awkward position. Dark spots danced before his eyes as soon as he was upright. For one moment he felt like passing out again, but then his vision cleared. He knew they all were watching him. He felt sick. „You alright?“, Sandy asked. All Ryan could do was shanking his head. He could feel the salvia pooling in his mouth, while his stomach contracted in knots. He swallowed convulsiv and gave his best to breath deep through his nose. He did not dare to open his mouth. Behind him there was some comotion when someone opened one of his cupboards. Shortly after a smal bucket was placed on the floor in front of him. „Go, wait outside“, he heard Kirstens voice. The warmth of Summers body vanished from his side. He swallowed again. The more he swallowed, the more his mouth watered it seemed, but he could not stop. His oesophagus was burning. His jaw locked. Kirsten sat in Summers place. Her hand was moving along his spine. Up and down, up and down. „It's alright, Ryan. Just relax.“ Her voice was soothing. „Try to take a deep breath.“ Sandy brought the bucket a little closer. It was the one living under his sink he realized, the one he used for cleaning sometimes. The smell of cleaning agent hit his nose. Orange. Only a hint but enough to make him shiver. He felt his throat constict. Against his will his mouth opened. A string of spittle fell from his lower lip, landing in the bucket in front of him with a soft „blopp“. His breathing became more rapid. „That's right, Ryan. Just let it out.“ He felt his diaphragm convulse. His breath caught. A retch shook his whole body. Stomach acid coated the back of his tounge. He retched again. With a gurgle air was escaping his stomach, followed by a small splash of ice tea he had drunken some time ago. It was still disgustingly sweet in his mouth and its taste made him gag all over again.A small trickle of liquid plashed against plastic. Something got stuck in his throat. He coughed and retched and with a nauseating splashing a huge wave of partially digested crisps and skittles made their reappearence. Disgusted Ryan shook his head and coughed, as soon as he was able to breath again. His nose was burning. He spat in the attempt to make the foul taste leave his tounge. He felt lucky he hadn't been eating much this day - he had been to busy. A few times he was forced to try retch, but either his stomach was already completly emptied out, or he regained enough controll to force his stomach contents to sty where they belonged. He was glad for the tissue Sandy passed him and more than once blew his nose before dumping it in the bucket. The sight of its contents nearly turned his stomach anew and quickly he shoved it away so he would not be forced to look at it. „Feeling better now?“, Kirsten was asking him. It was only now, that Ryan realized, she still had her hand stroking his back. Smoothing, circulating movments. He nodded and felt his cheeks becoming hot. „Thanks. And sorry for...“, he made a vague gesture towards the bucket. „If you think it is safe now, I will dispose of this“, Sandy offered, and Ryan was relieved when he went to rinse it. He leanded against the chair Summer had placed there before. He felt exhausted. He closed his eyes, to rip them open again, when he felt Kirstens hand on his forehead. This was definitely to much contact for his liking, but he was to groggy for actual protest. „Hm“, she said, „no fever. Did you hit your head before?“ Ryan shock his head. „Do you know, what just happened?“ „We were watching a movie“, he tried to remember. „I got up to go and get something to drink. And then...“ He shrugged helpless, when his memorys stopped in nothing but blankness. „You fell over like a tree“, Seth voice came from the door. „If Summer woundn't have been so fast... I'm sure you would at least be concussed now.“ „So he did not hit his head, when he fell?“ „No, Mom. Summer caught him in time. I love this woman. She's having superpowers I tell you. Just like Wonderwoman.“ As wretched as Ryan was feeling, he still had to grin. His best friend was a love-stricken idiot sometimes. „Seth, you are such an idiot. It's nothing about superpowers. If you would have managed to move your eyes away from the screen for only a few seconds, you would have realized Ryan looked like death warmed over all evening. No offence, Ryan.“ Ryan waved his hand to indicate he felt alright about her statement, while Seths face suddenly was filled with guilt. Sandy returned with the rinsed bucket. „I think it's time to get you checked out by a doctor. Come on, up you go.“ Sandy reached out to him, handing his wife the bucket so his hands were free. „I son't think that's necessary“, Ryan protested. Four pair of eyes stared at him disbelieving. „Ryan, you were just giving us a great performance of the dying swan on your one floor. If there has ever been a time for you to be looked over by a physician, it should be now“, Seth told him point-blank. Ryan had no chance but to give in. The two other man grabed him by his arms, when he made efforts to get up. They stood there for quite some time, until the world around him stopped swaying. When there was no sign he would give them a replay of his former performance, they guided him outside, their hands still supporting him. Summer watched as they left unsure, what to do next. She felt the adrenaline leave her body. Kirstens hand gendly touched her shoulder. „You did really great, Summer. Thanks for your help.“ There was a short break before she continued: „Maybe it's time for you to go home now.  I will tell Seth to call you, as soon as we have more to tell you, alright?“ With that she followed her family, bucket still in hand. Summer hoped they would not need it to soon again. But better be safe than sorry. It took hours for Seth to call her. „Hi, I'm really sorry, but it's just now I'm coming out of hospital and I did not want to use my phone while we stood in the ER.“ „Never mind. How is Ryan doying?“ „More or less allright I would say. They checked him over but could not realy find anything. Only his blood pressure was a bit low. He received an infusion and was told to stay for a few hours, just in case. You can imaging how he was whining about this fact, telling everyone it was not necessary. But mom and dad left him no choice with that.“ Summer could only agree with them. Remembering the feeling of his limp body in her arms still made her shiver slightly. „Tell him, if he's not cooperating Wonderwoman will come to kick his ass.“ Laughing Seth promised to tell him. Sometimes men were nothing more than idiots.
