okay i know i'm not a comics expert but this strikes me as such a bizarre characterization of clark. like. you can't do more because you're not from here? what? do you also think that people who are adopted from overseas shouldn't have citizenship? and you're not even gonna talk about abuse of superpowers? what are we doing
#i think they could have had a really interesting argument. like#there's the potential for some world-shattering friction here!#especially with jon being gay and out!#like. clark is always gonna be fighting the dictator allegations. the “you don't belong here” allegations. so#he's not gonna want to Take A Side or Get Political when it could endanger the public perception of his humanity#vs jon whose entire identity is quote-unquote political to some people. he's gay and mixed race.#i think this might also be a generational thing. jon's seen real change#in terms of economic inequality and climate#both for better and for worse#while clark might be hyper-focused on the progress because he remembers when things were Much Worse#this is a conflict i often have with my own parents so maybe i'm just projecting. but i think this would be a real way of cementing#the generational divide between these characters and the inherent isolation of Not Understanding Your Parents#clark kent#superman#jon kent
