Shortfic: Autumn Leaves

Jekyll woke up to a rustling sound against his window. Pulling himself off of his desk, where he, once again, fell asleep, he made his way over to the window. His eyes widened with delight when he saw multicolored leaves dancing in the breeze, the sky clear, with barely a cloud in the sky. Autumn was finally here. Throwing on a coat as quickly as possible, Jekyll tumbled out his bedroom door. It was a bit ungentlemanly, but he was presently alone and didn’t mind much. Well, not quite alone. Zosi trailed behind him, the little Grim yipping happily after his owner.

Jekyll threw open the front door of the Society, grabbing a scarf (a gift from Rachel last Christmas) before stepping out into the cold air. He laughed, loud and bright, as leaves swirled around him, some getting caught in his brown curls. He went down the stairs, taking in the colorful sight and the crisp smell of the October day. Several leaves fell into his arms as he walked, and, after a quick look showed that he was alone, he threw them into the air. Zosi barked and jumped for the leaves, the sound intertwining with Jekyll’s gleeful laughter.

Rachel would find Jekyll later, his nose and cheeks slightly red, with a few leaves tucked away in his pockets: content, happy, and relaxed.

Final Halloween Fic ~ Halloween Party

(Happy Halloween everyone!)

The event started late in the evening, and many of the Londoners had appeared, dressed in their finest outfits, tailored for the occasion. While hard to see, as the building was dark, excluding a few lights, you could still see some of the decorations, Jack o’ Lanterns among them. Many of the guests were costumed in black cloaks, and gothic attire. There was also a plethora of vampires present, but not the one Jekyll was looking for. He readjusted his jacket, tweaking his raven pin until it was perfectly straight, and took a deep breath. It would all go well. It was an informal event, surely nothing could go wrong. Jekyll stepped down the stairs, tailcoat flaring as eyes followed him. He smiled, the same one he gave to most of London, but anxiously looked for Lanyon. Where was he?

“You look perfect, Henry.” A voice whispered, causing Jekyll to jump slightly, whirling around on a heel. Lanyon was there, his bat-winged cape enveloping his shoulders, the hints of red in his costume drawing Jekyll in more, along with the older man’s eyes. Jekyll blinked off the feeling. “Thank you. You look marvelous as well, Robert. Shall we check on things?” He asked, Lanyon, who Jekyll could’ve sworn had the faintest blush on him, nodded.

The two men walked around the Society, where Zosi and Gertrude freely wandered around, and guests mingled around and chatted. A few groups of individuals were playing parlor games, finding mirrors in hopes of finding the future, or balancing spoons on teacups. Jekyll breathed a sigh of relief that the guests were all enjoying themselves.

“Henry! Why don’t you try a piece of cake?” Rachel called out, where there was a cake, and a group of people, including Ms. Lavender, Jasper, and Mr. Doddle, nearby it. Jekyll and Lanyon took a look at each other, nodded, and Jekyll (a bit hesitantly) walked over to the group. Rachel, a wide smile on her faced, shoved a piece of cake into his hands. "Thank you, Rachel.” He said with a smile and began to eat the cake. He was halfway through it when he bit down on something hard. A small cry escaped him as he pulled out the fork, find a sliver ring inside.

“Ah! Looks like you’ll be the next of the group to get married, Henry!” Rachel chirped, a slight, knowing grin on her face. Jekyll blushed profusely, trying to laugh it off, but ducked his head down and hurried to find Lanyon. “What happened?” The older man asked, concern across his face. Jekyll shook his head, a short laugh escaping. “Apparently, I’m next to get married.” He explained, Lanyon’s cheeks definitely tinting pink from it. They stood together for a moment, before seeing a group gathered around the fire. “Shall we?” Lanyon extended a hand. Jekyll eagerly nodded “Absolutely.” He replied, taking Lanyon’s hand as they walked together.

It was a start of something coming together once more.

More Designs!

Jasper - Ok, I know he looks weird - he's just a happy boi! pls don't look too closely at the hands. So, I gave him big (and really badly drawn) calves becasue he's basically always doing some sort of exercise/work and Sage once said that he's the strongest, and we never really see his legs so I felt like showcasing those details here. Now his shoes, yet another thing that might look random, however I assure you, that these are what medieval workers use to wear. I kept his design relatively similar to his canon one, although I did have to give him a different hat.

Rachel - out of all the designs, Rachel's is the most historically accurate. it's a common misconception that women were shunned for showing their forearms/ankles but it was actually quite normal! married medieval women would wear veils and other elaborate headwear, however women who were not would either wear their hair loose or in a braid. Rachel isn't married so she wears it loose, I added a little braid that she puts flowers and decorative items in, to make her design a little bit more interesting. (and becasue its pretty)

Frankenstein - Frankenstein is really fun to draw! I don't exactly know why but she just is! She has this big fluffy pelt thing going on, it's made of a lot of fur and owl feathers, why owl feathers? because she reminds me of an owl, that's why. she also has big ol' snowboots because it snows in the swiss mountains and because I think it looks cute. you can't see her gloves but they are dark brown (fyi). she has these vials attached to her belt but they can also serve as an emergencey crystal ball - you know, just in case you have to conjure up some evil spirits, as one does.

Papa Lanyon - I think Papa Lanyon sounds way funnier than Lanyon sr. and it contrasts his serious face. I anticipated that he was going to be really hard to draw, but It was surprisingly easy. I liked his design until I had to colour him, I really don't know what happened there, I'm slightly annoyed because I wanted him to appear very cool and dapper, yet he really looks like a generic king. So this doesn't have to be his official design, he just wears fancy king clothes (it's not that important anyway because we don't see him all that much) he is wearing metal soldier-like boots, solely because I searched up outfit references and they all had soldier boot things.

Now that I've done this, I have no more excuses to procrastinate doing work for the other things in the au. Anyway I hope everyone likes these. have a nice day/moring/afternoon/night!
