VIP Diaries: (Meeting Seungri!!!) The Great Seungri Show in Manila 2019

Hello 안녕 안녕 shimmers and VIPs! Wow, I’ve been wanting to publish this post for a while now because this experience I had during The Great Seungri Show in Manila is a FIRST in my whole life as a BIGBANG VIP! I met Seungri and I got the sweet sweet chance to be in a photo with him. Not a standee, not a poster but the real Seungri!! Gurlll, I could go on and on about this but let me compose myself for a bit and talk about The Great Seungri Tour which happened in MOA Arena last January 19, 2019.

So, if you know me or if you’ve been following my SNS and happened to see one of my posts from last year, you’d know how much I loathe this area. I swore I won’t even go anywhere near Mall of Asia after the trauma I had from this horrible incident. And after that, I never attended any sort of event if it’s held around this area.

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME back here in months. Only BIGBANG can bring me back! The bitter memories are now replaced, thanks my Panda Seungri!!

This VIP concert experience is made possible by K-Music Insider! I’m beyond grateful for this chance because the truth is, my budget didn’t allow me to shed 10k upfront that time for the VIP seats and photo-op opportunity. I would’ve settled for a cheaper lower box ticket but I still made sure I hop into giveaways with the goal of getting a photo-op pass in mind. And dear heavens K-Music Insider blessed me with one! 넘너무 행복해 ㅠㅠ

Gates opened at 7pm and I entered the venue at around 7:15. There weren’t crazy lines so I just went straight to the entrance. There weren’t any chaos (thank goodness) and I know it’s a good thing, but I’m kinda sad too because we weren’t able to fill the entire arena. The show was announced late so many VIPs weren’t able to prepare them fundsss (including me haha)

BUT when the show started, it didn’t feel like the arena isn’t full! It was a whole new party out there!! Just exactly as how I expect a BIGBANG concert should be. I mean, Seungri is a total charmer and I’m sure all VIPs know that he’s the best at sweeping the crowd off their feet compared to the rest of the members. Seungri has been my bias wrecker since 2012! Oh well, but yo gurl is tough and my heart for G-Dragon won’t be swayed by anything!!!! \\(^^,)//

Here are some fancams I managed to take. I know, I wasn’t able to take that much because I really want to savor the moment. Also, this is my first time to attend a concert without my sister or cousin (huhuhuhu) so I don’t have someone to take turns with recording. But then again, all throughout my life as a K-Pop fangirl, I have learned how important it is to really get into the moment instead of recording each and every part of the show. In My World

I’m so proud of Seungri! This is his first ever solo world tour and I can see that he did so well in pleasing and wowing the crowd despite the absence of his hyungs. 

Did you watch the whole video? BOYYY I CHOKED WHEN HE SLAYED THAT TAGALOG SONG!! I swear that song by Inigo Pascual annoyed me for a while because I hear it everywhere. But gurllll, who would’ve thought that I’d learn how to love it. I’ve been singing it subconsciously right after the concert. I mean, I’m gonna be honest, he sounded more native than Sandara and Ryan Bang (he showed up briefly on stage too along with Anne Curtis) LOL

Dara was also a guest for Seungri’s show. Well, Sandara has always been a steady guest whenever BIGBANG would show up here for a tour! That’s OG YG Family for you, children! The 2NE1 songs she performed were immensely nostalgic. How can my eyes well up over happy songs? I’m still hoping for a 2NE1 reunion to fulfill my empty Blackjack heart! :(

Seungri has always been the life of the party and he’s so good at being in variety shows! That’s what he served us during his concert. For a short moment we all thought we mistakenly entered a comedy bar, not a concert LOL Seungri made my stomach burst out of laughter the entire night. He’s just GOLD! He even savaged his fellow BIGBANG members in front of us. haha! Ang lakas ng loob kasi everyone’s in the military haha

Seungri showed us funny photos of every BIGBANG member for him to roast... EXCEPT for T.O.P... So naturally, us VIPs will ask and look for him. When he wrapped the photos up without including TOP, all of us went “Where’s TOP?!!!” I honestly thought he’ll just brush it off, considering all the crazy controversy surrounding TOP, I won’t be surprised if he’ll just ignore us. But Seungri didn’t. He heard us and he gave us a very reassuring answer.

VIPS: “TOP!!! TOP!!! Where’s TOP?”

SEUNGRI: “Ah, TOP? He’s fine! I just wanna say he’s okay.”

ME: Wooooh!!! OMG OMG *hyperventilating*

SEUNGRI: “He’s super okay. Yeah. He will come back soon, don’t worry!”

VIPs: *crying and going wild*

SEUNGRI: “You know what, now in BIGBANG, TOP is MOST OKAY! hahaha We are all okay..”

ME: LAUGHING WHILE CRYING UGLY TEARS

The entire show lasted for around 3 hours, I think. Seungri gave us major K-Pop throwback as he also sang a lot of his great hits from his early solo career (Strong Baby, Gotta Talk to U, GG BE..), as well as BIGBANG’s! It was an amazing show full of nostalgia. 

Here’s my only #OOTD shot from the concert, together with my fellow mod at BIGBANG Philippines - Chi! 

We, along with the ladies of 2NE1 PH, as well as other VIP friends lined up for the photo-op right after the concert. Each photo with Seungri will be done by 10s and we’re fortunate enough to be the last ones in line so there were just 8 of us.

I mean, let that sink in for a short moment. Gurl, MY EXISTENCE GOT PULVERIZED! I wasn’t sure of what was happening and if it really was happening at all. For the first time in my 10-year VIP fangirl life, I was able to see and interact with a BIGBANG member. INSANE!

As I was walking towards Seungri, my mind went blank. I just stretched my hand for him to shake and I told him that he did great on stage. OH DEAR I remember him just looking back at me, smiling and thanking me for coming to his show. I’m in a trance! And because I went straight to him and approached him first, I totally forgot everything I initially planned. I have my phone in hand to secretly record everything just for my personal memento but totally forgot!! Also planning to stand beside him (I was 2nd in line so I could’ve done that) but chose to just talk to him first so by the time I was done talking, everyone got settled already while I’m still lost in front of him! Also planned to stand on his right side because that’s my freakin’ angle but totally forgot!!! HAHAHAHA Basically, my mind stopped functioning LOL but I’m so happy I got to interact with the King of all Maknaes, SEUNGRI. Everything happened so fast and when we were asked to leave, I made sure I told him I love him! HAHA He’s probably tired of hearing that from everybody but at least I let it out my chest. ^^

Say hello to my very nervous smile!!!! HAHAHA My heart was about to pop out of my mouth! SEUNGRI is just super handsome and I’m not just saying this because I’m a fan. Like he’s legit handsome and his smile is so dreamy. He’s just genuinely friendly and there’s this warmth from him that makes you forget he’s a star. I guess I’m used to seeing K-Pop stars being cold in real life, but definitely not Seungri! 

Ah, seeing him so close is definitely one for the books! Ah also, I would like to thank my Moonshot x Innisfree combo for keeping my foundation on point despite going crazy the entire night. hihihi~~ (I will review these two soon, promise!)

I’m beyond happy to see Seungri’s last show before he enlists. Their OT5 comeback may take a while because of their military schedule and all these sad controversies that still stir everything up unnecessarily! But hey, we’re all waiting at the Flower Road (꽃길) so I can only hope that the kings stay healthy and happy. 

My next goal is to see all BIGBANG members in their Final world tour in Seoul - 2020, 2021, who knows! Really hoping to have the same amazing opportunity like this to meet all of them next time. IT WILL HAPPEN I CAN FEEL IT! <3

newb question i hope you can answer :) i've seen people say that bb talked about having an ot4 group chat before seungri left the group. is this true? i can't find anything about it when i search. thanks if you can help!!!

Yes, it's true. It was Seungri who whined talked about it onstage during his solo tour "The Great Seungri". Here's a screenshot of an account from a fan who was there; keep in mind this was shared before he left the group and caused the fandom to split, fans turning against each other, taking sides, etc, so there isn't much reason to question the accuracy of it. There's more from that same show here. Also notice the date: January 26, 2019. This was just days before the Burning Sun scandal exploded and changed everything.

What's worth noting about this isn't just that the BB members had a separate group chat exclusively for the four of them, it's that he expressed a desire to join the chat and they turned him down. Make what you will of that, but to me it sounds like they didn't trust him and needed a safe place to discuss their concerns about him. In any case, whatever their reasons, based on what we know about him now I'd say they had good reason to do what they did and keep him on the outside looking in.

I'm still completely stunned over the verdict. I honestly did not expect that.

I don't feel like I thought I would? I wanted him to see accountability for his part and it happened.

I still feel betrayed and used. I'm mad at myself for giving him the benefit of the doubt all those years even though red flags kept going up. For supporting him enthusiastically during his solo year and thinking he'd turned himself around. I admit, I turned a blind eye, even when I saw video and read actual testimony of how he treated fans who'd won a contest and got to meet him at his m/v shoot.

"Oh, he was tired. Oh, that's just narcissist Seungri flaring up under pressure. Don't worry about it. He'll do better tomorrow."

I still find it chilling now how the members ramped up their warnings and pleas to him, couched in jokes in public, during the run up to him being alone and responsible for carrying the BigBang banner.

I honestly think "Papa YG" had a really harmful influence on him. I mean, the whole kpop industry is a pressure cooker anyway, but he treated his non favorite artists terribly. Look what he did to 2ne1. He was misogynistic and cruel and threw them under the bus whenever they needed the company's support most.

That scene fans uwu over of him finally giving Seungri a birthday acknowledgement while Seungri is sobbing and apologizing always made me nauseous, personally. He treated him like dirt for years, took him under his wing for awhile while GD was gone and his album was getting noticed, then dumped him again because BlackPink was doing phenomenal.

We saw how he treated iKon, how the company abandoned B.I. even though they were the ones who let the kind of environment they shouldn't have flourish on the down low at their own company. Way to pass the buck and deflect your own wrongdoings, YG.

I personally think he's one who should be doing jail time.

That was a bad set of circumstances for someone with Seungri's personality to grow up and work in. It doesn't excuse him by any means but I think it explains a lot.

It's a shame someone was made to feel they had no talent because they weren't as shiny as the wunderkind that was Jiyong or as surprisingly successful as T.O.P. became and spent their whole career trying to get the boss's recognition.

He has talent. The Great Seungri is a good album. He definitely did not deserve to be abandoned on his tour and promotions, business wise.

I think he acted out and tried to prove himself in some obviously harmful ways. Coupled with the rampant misogyny in the culture and the industry where women are either dismissed or objectified, it had all the ingredients for disaster. (Not that he didn't already have those behaviors but having it condoned and excused by his peers and having the clout and wealth to get it covered up by a corrupt justice system as he saw the people he wanted to emulate do...well...that's a dumpster fire of Bad just waiting to happen. He got involved in dealings he should never have gone near and it got worse. He just got better at hiding it.)

I honestly liked his voice. Strong Baby was honestly my favorite solo BB song. He performed it beautifully and knocked it out of the park during the MADE tour. I loved VVIP and it's m/v. He never got enough credit for what he DID do right.

And it's not just Korea, take a look at the Weinstein sexual abuse culture in Hollywood that flourished for years. Look at uber rich billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and his pedophile ring with other rich and famous men. Seriously, if you want to be thoroughly horrified watch the documentary about him on NetFlix. It will make you physically ill to see what he did and how long he got away with it because of money, power, and an army of lawyers, some who were also involved and also still lying about their involvement. Ex-Cheeto-Prez was one of his besties. It's a seething 💩-show.

The powerful, rich, and famous, mostly men, should not keep getting passes on their criminal behavior. Nor should corrupt government.

This was longer than I meant it to be but I needed to vent. There was never going to be any good outcome and happily ever after for everyone.

Mostly I am experiencing every bit of the confused feelings as I had when all this was first brought to light. And yeah, I'm shocked as hell he got a prison sentence and arrested as a flight risk. I was convinced he'd skate.

I never thought any of the ones still outside the initial net would be brought to account. My wish is that they prosecute some of the ones higher up the privileged, elitist, and monied ladder than Seungri and his circle of friends.

Lastly, a disclaimer to say I'm not setting my feelings on this matter down as the absolute gospel truth of everything. It's merely my take on what my view was/is.

I hope the remaining 4 get thru this with minimal shots and criticism aimed at them. l hope to see them come back and not have their legacy tarnished. They don't deserve that.

Thank you for following me and reading my stuff even if I was away for more than half an year. I just didn’t have any motivation for writing. 

But now,

Hope you’ll like this Seungri scenario that was requested a long time ago.

Hi sweety may i get an scenario with Seungri? You go to meet him and some of his fans shows up and a crazy sasaeng tries to stab him and you noticed and protected him by recieving the stab instead?

You were looking at the mirror applying bright red matt lipstick on, to get ready and finally meet your favorite beautiful idol. You respect him as a singer, idol and a person. He is doing an amazing job with everything. He is the perfect man, is what you always say. You wore a plain but cute red dress with a black leather jacket with a caption of their album MADE on the back of it. You thought you might have overdressed for a simple meet and greet but it's your first time doing this so why not give it all the effort you can. At least you put on some black boots and finished your look with small heart-shaped earrings. 'This is getting real Y/N. You are finally gonna meet him'

Your hands started shaking when you walked towards your father's car and your palms began to sweat. You sat on the front seat and your father drove you to the cafe near the meet and greet where you met your best friend who'll be there for this beautiful moment of your life. You knew meeting him won't be like you'll ever see him again (probably). But once is enough to make you happier and give some energy to your life. You hugged your best friend and squealed from excitement for a few seconds before people started looking at you weird. On the way to the location where Seungri will finally introduce his next solo album, you noticed some V.I.P.s who were making some posters or gifts for Seungri. You only prepared a special letter for him and you felt like you should have prepared more for him, who made your life so much more fun with his music and humor. Your best friend saw the face you made when you regret something and shook your shoulders.

"Don't fucking worry Y/N. I'll be there for you and he'll be there for you. You will finally meet him and show him that he's important to people. You look perfect and I doubt he won't fall in love with you in this beautiful red dress and these new earrings! Oh God, I wish I'd have those too."

Her words of comfort meant a lot to you. She was always there to say exactly what you need.

After some minutes of walking, you arrived at the place and it was already crowded. You felt other people's shoulders hitting you and felt even more nervous standing in the crowd waiting for him to come on stage.  

You've been waiting there for quite a while with your best friend and you saw some strange people in the crowd, but you ignored it and just continued telling your bf how happy you are.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the one and only, Seungri."

People began to clap loudly and you were one of them and screamed his name with others. Cheer got louder when finally, he walked smoothly on the stage in his golden and black outfit with black Nikes on his feet. His hair was done with bangs on his forehead and a nice new black color. His smile was a kill for all the fans, including you. That was indeed a killer look. He then introduced himself as a solo singer, finally, and introduced his new album. As it seemed he was as excited as the rest of the crowd and so the moment we have all been waiting for came. We got a preview of his album songs and he performed his title song 1,2,3! and the crowd went wild. Everyone was amazed and impressed with the new song, you even saw the security enjoying the music.

You examined the crowd and saw a lot of different fans and you noticed there are quite a few people that just came along and weren't exactly his fans. There were girls who screamed with joy and other fans who were happy to be there. You and your best friend sang the lyrics and enjoyed your hearts out. You were thankful for this day as it soon came to the last act of the meet and greet. 

Finally, the time when you get the chance to give Seungri a hand and look him in the eyes. Your heart was jumping in your chest while you were slowly walking closer to your favorite artist. All you could think at that moment was just how much you wish to just say hello and tell him how much you appreciate him. Just that he knows how important his work is. There's nothing you wished for more. 

Your arm itched and you turned back and saw it. The girl behind you, around 20 years old, was holding a small swiss knife. It just seemed too sketchy to know that she went with that through security. You decided to ignore the fact that you just saw that and moved on. It could only be something unimportant and nothing big to worry about. Step by step, your heartbeat was getting faster and your cheeks were already red. 

"Hello, nice to meet you..."

Sweet and cheerful voice traveled right through your ears and couldn't believe that was said only to you at the moment. Your eyes were sparkling and just the look of his beautiful and happy smile on his face with those cute black bangs was enough to make you smile too. You bowed simply because you respect and admire him and he just smiled more. 

"I...I really wanted to say... your new album is magnificent and me and my sister were very impressed by the new choreography and those high notes in the title song. All of the songs sound amazing and some of them are really nice for cheering up, so I wanted to thank you, for the amazing work with this origami bouquet I made just for you..."

He wowed and looked at the bouquet. The girl behind you just kicked me in the leg but, you still ignored it since you only have few seconds left to communicate with the one and only Seungri. 

"Get the f**k away little girl." 

It was that girl from behind you again. You bowed again and said goodbye and moved to the side. The next second you remembered the knife she had in her hand. Your brains were all confused about what the hell could knife do on a fan meet. Very quickly you realized the answer is nothing. 

You turned back and protected Seungri's body by standing right in front of him. One second you saw people happily screaming Seungri's name and the next one your eyes met with a knife that went right through your chest. The pain was unbearable. 

"FREEZE. EVERYONE PLEASE SAFELY EXIT THE ROOM."

Someone shouted really loudly and people began screaming and running all over the place. You couldn't see anything, it was getting darker and darker and your eyes were slowly closing while your body was unmovable. Loud voices disappeared and everything went quiet. One moment later your eyelids twitched and you slowly tried to open your eyes. The lightning in the room you were in was too bright and so you closed your eyes again and tried asking where you are. But your lips didn't want to move. You tried touching where you were laying and nothing seemed right. The place had a weird smell and the last thing you could remember... it was.... going on Seungri's fan meet. But... What happened there?

Again you tried opening your eyes and then you suddenly heard a familiar voice.

"Y/N? Can you hear me? You're okay, don't worry, you're safe."

Mom. It was your mom. At that moment you really opened your eyes and saw all in a white room with a few medical devices beeping while they were connected to your hand and most importantly, your family, mom, dad and your beautiful but yet annoying younger sister. 

"M...m...mom...m.... w...hat happened?" you tried asking. But suddenly the doctor rushed to the room and started to examine you. 

Later when they explained to you what really happened, you were proud on yourself that you just protected Seungri from great danger. Soon there were bouquets of roses and candies coming to your room. While you were recovering your family visited you.

"There's someone special here for you y/n..."

'Who could it be? My imaginary boyfriend?' you thought

"Hello y/n.... I'm here to thank you... You remember me, right?"

There he was. In flesh and blood standing right next to your bed, wearing cute blue jeans and a leather jacket. You couldn't believe you eyes. It was real. He was real. 

"Let me stay here and make you company for a while. You know I can't stay for too long since I have a show in 3 hours but I want to make time here shorter for you since you protected me y/n. I really appreciate it, you need to believe me. I couldn't even imagine in what danger I put you in.... So please let me thank you."

Tears started flowing down your cheeks and he wiped them away for you. 

"Don't cry, I'm also here to get to know you, I want to know who saved my life."

And so your hospital adventure which was painful in the operation rooms and interesting, amazing, happy in the room with you new actual friend- Seungri, who came to visit you every few days and spent the time there talking about the new gossips and discussing kdrama and kpop scenes and most importantly he shortened your stay there with all the fun board games which you both enjoyed. And even after you finally got out of the hospital you stayed in touch and stayed good friends. He even invited you on his tour and you got the chance to meet other Big Bang members as well. Your friendship grew year by year and you were closer then ever. 

The friendship continued even longer no matter the fact where you were and what you were doing. 

From an unpleasant event, where you got hurt, you also got a new best friend. Someone that you cared about a lot. Thank you for that.
