random thoughts about run on, episode nine

the point i’m about to make is valid for all dramas, not only this one. product placements throw me off :( i mean i know they’re necessary but sometimes, it’s so obvious that it kind of takes me out of the scene i’m watching :/

on a more positive note, king of rizz ki seon gyeom is back! he’s never left but he’s still back. what makes my heart go a little crazy is how he’s so sure of what he’s saying. like, for example, when mi joo tells him she’s prettier than the day before because she put on makeup, without missing a beat he lets her know she was still beautiful even when sick... the confidence in what he says is what makes it even more special 💓 if i had a ki seon gyeom in front of me, i would be left speechless oh so many times. it wouldn’t be funny

while we’re still talking about him, i found it super cute how seon gyeom was struggling to write in his diary. like mi joo said it’s not an assignment, but it felt like it was to him. and it’s also cute how he writes short sentences that go straight to the point, kind of like how he speaks. he’s direct with it

when yeong hwa gave the synopsis, it was so adorable :( especially how excited he was. i also liked how they reenacted the scene with dan ah in it hehe

kwon yeong il telling seon gyeom that his presence “motivated him to run” and here we have yet another proof that seon gyeom does have the natural gift to motivate people, even though it was never his intention

the fact that the whole woo sik story is still developed makes me happy because i didn’t want it to end with the disciplinary committee sending park gyu beok and kim gi beom off to the military and voilà! 

seon gyeom is worried about woo sik’s future and i can see why a lot of people think he’d be a great coach. he has all the qualities for it: he has experience in sports, he motivates people and cares for them. “i want to tell him (woo sik) i’d handle all obstacles so that he can be free to just run” i don’t know how the drama ends but i hope seon gyeom will become a coach or something like that 🤞

when ki jeong do (seon gyeom’s father) lets mi joo know that she might be “a passing moment in seon gyeom’s life” i can see why it impacted her so much. up until now, everything she’s been a part of has been temporary. as much time and effort as she puts in all of her projects, the end result only lasts a second or two. she waits for her name to be shown on screen for merely a few seconds and for barely no one else to see because not a lot of people wait until the ending credits. to talk about more recent stuff, she was fired from her job a day before the end of it. a lot of scenes that involve her are temporary. they don’t last as long. and i think that’s why it hurt her a lot. more because it seems to be a good summary of her life than being jealous of being replaced by another woman (even though that hurts as well, let’s be clear)

following my previous point, it also reminds me of seon gyeom saying that if mi joo’s bored, she can go and never come back. it all goes back to being temporary.

seon gyeom was so cute when he discovered that they’ll both appear in the ending credits of the movie. he wants to share as much stuff as he can with her 💞

another quote that i definitely agree with “i’m always careful about the messages i relay” it’s crucial as translators to be able to understand things completely or else, there will be a huge mess, like the whole f*** you incident. it’s also very telling how the director forgets that mi joo is a human and, as a human, she might make mistakes and not know everything. so it’s natural that she might have taken the f word the wrong way. she is a korean/english translator, but she doesn’t have universal knowledge in both languages. whenever there’s a translator scene, you can count on me sharing as much as i want about it

it felt refreshing to see seon gyeom tell mi joo to “not do anything she doesn’t want to do” a nice reminder of how things were the other way around in the beginning episodes

and, once again, you can see the power of seon gyeom the motivator “why do i suddenly feel like I could do anything? that’s usually not the case but she feels like she can do it this time”

seon gyeom does have a positive influence on people

whenever there’s a scene involving the status of mi joo and seon gyeom’s relationship, i always end up confused but i think i might understand things a bit better with this statement made by mi joo “whenever i feel closer to you, it feels as though you push me right back. i feel left out during the most important moments and that feeling doesn’t happen on its own” i’m no relationship expert but i can begin to understand why she was upset in previous episodes. i think?

when seon gyeom says he’s been doing what she’s asked of him (aka like her), my jaw dropped to the floor. he’s so smooth and not ashamed to say things like that. my heart!

it felt nice when woo sik said that he’s finally carefree and spoke his mind. “i didn’t know what i was so afraid of back then” nice character development

it was funny how seon gyeom’s the one to tell woo sik to “put himself first”

but at least he’s self aware “when it comes to my own issues, i have trouble being objective too.” so he offers a solution “let’s talk about about it together. two is better than one, don’t you think?”

the ending scene with dan ah and yeong hwa was fantastic. yeong hwa’s dream was shattered when dan ah compared him to a vending machine. she only chose him as a means to outstand her brother. he thought he had a chance with dan ah but that’s unfortunately not the first scenario of your dreams yeong hwa 💔

Oooh. Very interesting but also a complex question. 🤔 Let me see.

Joong: I love the boy with my heart. Nothing specific. Just him as a whole....

Hwa: Honestly Hwa's personality feels like an old man. However, he gives off these very calming vibes in the way he talks and moves. He is basically the human version of a capibara. Physically, I really like his eyes. He has sharp noticeable eyes. I watched Answer mv multiple times at first just because I likes the look in his eyes during his parts...

Yunho: I like his joy. He seems to enjoy every minute of life and I am in awe of that. That same joy is reflected in his smile! He has such a great smile. Whenever he smiles it is like a second sun is shining. When I saw him at first he reminded me of those care bear characters, because he gave off the same vibes. Something else I really like is his cheeks. They seem so soft, round and mochi like....which adds to the care bear feel...

Yeo: Yeo has kind if a strange personality not gonna lie. But I love it? He is strange in an endearing way. He is very quiet and some times I wish he spoke up a bit more. But he seems to be comfortable in his silence and in his own world at times which is endearinf in its own way. Physically...he beautiful in general....but I really like his arms 👁👃👁. Also the birthmark on his left temple near his eye.

San: I like that San is very loving and isn't afraid to show affection. It is very lovely. Physically I really like the freckles/moles on the right? side of his neck. I am always happy when I see fansites that don't edit them out. They are so cute.

Mingi: Despite being a giant, Mingi is very //tiny// personality wise. I find the contrast between his appearance and his personality so cute fo2njfn2ud. Tall deep voiced guy with a tiny personality 🥺. Although he seems quite insecure about his eyes, I quite like them. His facial feautures in general are quite sharp which could give a quite intimidating feeling off some times. But then he cracks the biggest smile ever and it is just 💖💕💘💞💗💕🥺💓💞💗💞💘💖🥺💘💗💞💗💞💘💞💓💖🥺💗💗💞💕💓💓🥺💖💕

Woo: personality wise, I like how he basically is still a kid by heart and isn't afraid to show that. I have seen videos where he is clinging onto his manager's arm while jumping on stairs and honestly...it makes my heart very soft...

Physically. What isn't to like about him? Everyone in this group is handsome, but for some reason I find Woo's beauty very striking. While he isn't my bias I have had him as my phone background for months now because he is just darn beautiful. If I'd see that walk down the street I'd probably walk against a pole.

Jongho: Jongho, he is so delightful. I am not sure what exactly I like about his personality. I think it is because I haven't seen much of him in videos. KQ cutting his bits out in log books and such 🙃 I reckon the boy is quite a funny and entertaining kid actually. If only we could see more of it.

However, I can tell you what I like about him appearance wise. While he is very cute with his round cheeks. I reckon once he loses those cheeks he will ressemble Jonghyun a lot. Someone once told me that and now I can't unsee it. He is a very handsome boy and id KQ would style his hair better, his handsomeness would be shown better. Those bowl cuts keep on giving him a cute maknae feel, while he would much more mature and even more handsome if they styled his hair better. Free the Jorehead 2021. Omg he has such a cute nose though. I call his type of nose pooh bear nose because they remind me of Winnie the Pooh...so poobable....

random thoughts about run on, episode seven

one thing’s for sure in this episode: the scenery is beautiful, especially bang bae jeong’s house

talking about bang bae jeong, i’m so happy they showed more of her throughout the years. it was interesting to see how she influenced ki seon gyeom. 

the greatest example is a flashback of bae jeong beating up a colleague (seon gyeom’s coach) because he kept making advances at her. she wasn’t afraid of using violence to protect herself, even if that meant no longer being a coach

like mi joo pointed out, she didn’t quit on her own accord, she was forced out (because of the incident mentioned in previous point) so maybe she’ll come back to teach the kids? i don’t know but i’m curious to see how this will evolve in the future

guys. my otp is yeong hwa x seon gyeom 💗 they’re so cute and funny together. i’m glad they’re getting scenes together

“you sweet man. now i want to take advantage of you.” yeong hwa is an idiot, but he’s my idiot

park may is also one of my favorite characters. she’s the best middleman/hypewoman (don’t ask me what i meant by that, i understand myself and that’s what matters the most lol)

i really like that we get to see a lot of seon gyeom’s family in this show because we can understand as time goes by how complicated it is to grow up in such an environment. you see ki jeong do (father) using his wife and daughter’s achievements for his own fame & reputation. but with seon gyeom, nothing... radio silence. that’s why he resents his son even more. because he can’t create the perfect father & son picture with him

going back to the beginning of the episode when mi joo called seon gyeom a baby, and talking to bang bae jeong about how naive he is. and then, mi joo compares seon gyeom to translating (which earns bonus points from me because i like a show that puts translation at its core). he is harder to understand than a 2 hour foreign movie. and that says a lot about their relationship. mi joo is trying her hardest to understand such an odd character (aka seon gyeom) but sometimes, no matter how much effort she puts in, it’s almost impossible to understand him. giving the scenarist (is that what they’re called?) lots of 💓 for that

this post is a mess i’m sorry for whoever might read this 💔

some of my favorite scenes are the ones between seon gyeom and his father. now that he (seon gyeom) has finally made the decision on his own, you can see how he has evolved because now he’s honest with his father. he tells him the truth straight to his face.

“the problem is you” (seon gyeom to his father) / “it’s my life father” / “do you think this entire family is some kind of tool you can use to your own advantage?” / “stop using me as the means to fulfill your dream” some statements that can only be the truth

seon gyeom running then adjusting his pace so he can walk in rhythm with mi joo 💖

seon gyeom coaching the kids was so cute. you can see he’s still fairly new to it and is a little bit “nervous” (i want to use another word but can’t find it) and then you see bang bae jeong coming in and saving the day :)

that shot of dan ah and yeong hwa being still while everything around them moves quickly was beautiful 💕

yook ji woo’s face when she sees her husband coming out of nowhere was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣 i feel you madam

mi joo standing up to ki jeong do and choosing to take seon gyeom with her was such a cool moment. i want more of it!

random thoughts about run on, episode five

first of all, i must say that this episode was full of twists and turns and i’m very happy about that

we’re starting with ki jeong do’s employee (idk how to call him) trying to make mi joo the villain for accepting the money given to her

still seon gyeom chose to forgive her because she owned up to it and explained why. but mostly, she gave the money back

which leads us to this sentence (said by mi joo) “people who give me money know about my weakness” that hit close to home because you can see the gap between them one more time. he never had to worry about money when she’s been struggling for a long time. she’s like a puppet to the people of power/rich and that’s something that a lot of viewers can relate to

seon gyeom once again chooses to forgive her because he now understands why she took the money. even though he hates her actions, he can’t seem to direct his hate towards her (example 1258745 of seon gyeom proving he is a good person)

which brings us to this dialogue “why are you being so kind?” “Because I want to” i mean you have to really irritate seon gyeom to elicit hate out of him. a lot of us wouldn’t have his patience and kindness

“you make me feel like i’m worthless” the gap between seon gyeom and mi joo is getting bigger and bigger. she takes the money because she’s poor, all she said to him was ‘fake’ and yet here he is being lenient and understanding. i feel you mi joo. he has it all: handsome looks, rich, talented at what he does and on top of that kind even though he didn’t grow up with the most loving family

when he came to see the children he wanted to train once he retired, i understand when the kids don’t believe the assault rumors. he’s such a kind man, always doing good deeds and you want the kids to believe the news articles? no!

yeong hwa being this show’s little meow meow 🐈 thank you to whoever was responsible for that 😘

this episode wanted to focus on mi joo being poor because the scene where she meets her so called friends is hurtful 😭😭😭 i mean the way that soon-to-be bride reminded mi joo where she comes from (foster care) was humiliating. the cherry on top was that it happened in this super fancy hotel 💔 the things mi joo has to go through 😔

the woo sik article is FINALLY out!!! yay we cheered 👏👏👏 and mi joo literally running to clear seon gyeom’s name 💗 yes we appreciate you for doing that. she does care about seon gyeom. and thankfully the truth has been revealed. i hope there will be consequences for gyu beok and gi beom

we end this episode with mi joo comforting seon gyeom 💓 that hug had my heart going a little crazy ngl 

“no one is born being able to endure pain from the start” it seems that mi joo is a lot of firsts for seon gyeom: the first to tell him to rest, the first to care about him so openly and the first to comfort him 💕 you can kind of see how seon gyeom is not used to being taken care of so all of this is new to him. mi joo has a big impact on that man it’s obvious

also, on a completely unrelated note, i’m beginning to fall for seon gyeom and it is NOT GOOD for my overall well-being. let’s hope i don’t fall in love 

i nearly forgot to talk about seo dan ah having to put up with the pressure of finding a husband because she’s beginning to get old... and the double standard is shown as well. the daughters are only good for forming an alliance with another company/get a better reputation according to the family 💔 but i like how dan ah doesn’t care about that and is doing her thing
