this new black/red design is confusing because it's the same formula everywhere but like: car? sexy! race suits? ugly! jackets? cool! polos? horrible! charles? hot! pit crew gear? vibes!

No but that's literally it???? sdefjr The car is absolutely serving this year, but the team gear is...eh?

The t-shirts and polos are so...just...weird? The red background behind the Shell logo, the placement of the prancing horse is just unnaturally high, it's on the like collarbone area? So strange.

I hate that they're insisting on putting stripes on everything. Like. Why. I guess they wanted to add some pizazz, but instead of making the design look complete it just looks more chaotic and random. The driver's caps just make me think of a backgammon board?? The jackets are a win cause they always make them almost like oversize so Charles looks extra comfy and chill asdjf

Also, the replica merch versions of the t-shirts, which come in three variations - Charles, Carlos, and a neutral team one that afaik will be used by the drivers, the one with two black stripes. And the driver ones...have numbers and signatures on the back...And something about them, especially Charles's, is giving me Etsy/Redbubble vibes? Maybe it's the fact that I've seen that exact 16 png on so many items, from phone cases to idk tote bags, but yeah shdjfgj

The race suits are so visually bizarre to look at? At least the logos are on the red part and not the black accent band as is the case with the team gear, so they blend a bit better into the suit and don't look as odd with square backgrounds. But something about it is still so...off? Last year's race suits weren't perfect, but man, this year's version is making me miss the tricolore stripe. The driver numbers feel like they should be a bit higher up, or at least, idk, do the outer stitch like last year without filling in the actual number? Also. The black boots are such a downgrade from the lil red racing boots. They feel so basic? Idk. Also, the red fireproofs???? Don't know how I feel about that. Give me back the classy, sexy white fireproofs with a red signature stitch on the arm tbh. Lowkey concerned that with all the red on red on red on red Charles is kind of going to just melt into the car at this point ajsdjf I loved his white-base helmet last year because it was classy but easily stood out even in zoomed out overhead shots.

Honestly the biggest glow up is hands down the pit crew gear. So happy they ditched the red clown pants 😭Much improved, chef's kiss.

The whole thing is giving me whiplash idk 😔Logically I know I'll get used to it over time when we start seeing them in the new gear week in, week out - Charles being astronomically attractive definitely helps - but the designs are not exactly making me rush to pre-order or anything. 🙏🏻
