The Crowded Room Final Episode
I have no words 😭 (Felt a little rushed but at least it’s over).
The scene where Camisa started showing him the pictures of Candy and Danny without Adam made me choke up.
I also think it’s great to see how he kept his distance from his mom for his own sake, he didn’t see her until he was ready
Also, Tom Holland has such a great terrified expression. He acts really well with his eyes. (He also just has beautiful eyes lol).
I think the critics are very wrong in saying he didn’t fit this role, he portrayed the character amazingly!

"The Minds of Billy Milligan"
by Daniel Keyes
Tumblr media
Billy Milligan can be anyone he wants to be . . . except himself.
Billy Milligan was a man tormented by twenty-four distinct personalities battling for supremacy over his body—a battle that culminated when he awoke in jail, arrested for the kidnap and rape of three women. In a landmark trial, Billy was acquitted of his crimes by reason of insanity caused by multiple personality—the first such court decision in history—bringing to public light the most remarkable and harrowing case of multiple personality ever recorded.
Twenty-four people live inside Billy Milligan.
Philip, a petty criminal; Kevin, who dealt drugs and masterminded a drugstore robbery; April, whose only ambition was to kill Billy's stepfather; Adalana, the shy, lonely, affection-starved lesbian who “used” Billy's body in the rapes that led to his arrest; David, the eight-year-old “keeper of pain”; and all of the others, including men, women, several children, both boys and girls, and the Teacher, the only one who can put them all together. You will meet each in this often shocking true story. And you will be drawn deeply into the mind of this tortured young man and his splintered, terrifying world.

“We are in a dark room. In the middle of this room, on the floor, is a patch of light. Anyone who steps into the light steps out on the spot, and is out in the real world, and possesses consciousness. This is the person that others - those on the outside - see and hear and react to. The others can continue to do their usual things, study, sleep, talk or play. But whoever is outside, whoever they are, must be very careful not to reveal the existence of others. It's a family secret."
- The Minds of Billy Milligan.

What a fascinating and true story. Billy Milligan was arrested for robbing three women and raping two of them at Ohio State University in the mid-70s. After his arrest it was determined that Billy Milligan was suffering from multiple personalities - 9 main personalities and 14 "undesirable" personalities. In fact, the Billy Milligan personality had been "asleep" for nearly 10 years.
Daniel Keyes does a masterful job of documenting the life of Billy Milligan through a third-person narrative, and then weaving in the various personalities. The explanation, provided by "Arthur" - one of the 3 controlling personalities - of how the various personalities perceived one another and the outside world was both incredible and illuminating.
What this book did for me, most of all, was show the absolute vastness of the human brain. Arthur spoke with a heavy British accent and was self-taught in physics and chemistry and read and wrote fluent Arabic. Tommy was an electronics specialist who could play the saxophone and trained himself to manipulate his hand bones and muscles to escape any cuffs. Ragen read, spoke, and wrote in Serbo-Croatian and could control his adrenaline flow. The ability of the brain to learn these very specialized fields, and then split them into very specific areas (personalities)...it just absolutely blew me away.
Again, it's a really great book and I'd highly recommend checking it out.

THE CROWDED ROOM EP 9
That lawyer is good bc she was making my hands sweat 😭
I understand what Dannys mom is going through but whyyy did Marlin have to go in the elevator with her!!
They should have people escort the witnesses for a case this notorious (not sure if that’s the right word but you know what I mean).
The last scene was so devastating my god, and I think the next episode is the last. I’m pretty sure it is anyway, thankfully it’s known that he manages to win the insanity plea!
Maybe something happens between now and then 🤞🏼
Edit: reminder to everyone that the show is *inspired from Billy Milligans case. All it takes is a simple search if a show is inspired/ or based on something

Daniel Keyes, The minds of Billy Milligan
I read The minds of Billy Milligan by Daniel Keyes and when I first bought it I didn’t hear the voice in my head that was saying “this book will completely fuck up your mind”. This story is so mentally complex, I can even say that it’s not a book for everyone. Have an open mind and be a person full of humanity to read this true story because it’s kinda upsetting
The only book that gave me this emotions until now was Bunker diary by Kevin Brooks, that is absolutely the most heart-mind-soul breaking book I’ve ever read
These are the kinds of stories that are able to make you feel in every way possible and from which you come out physically and psychologically destroyed
