You ever just have a very specific problem that you have no experience with even though it’s like a normal everyday thing?

I’m 24 and my mom has cut my hair my entire life. Every single one. The only time someone that is not her has touched my head in a ‘professional’ sense it was a dye job when I was 18 and it was my best friend’s step sister who was almost done with cosmology school.

Well for reasons my mom isn’t able to cut my hair and it’s getting really long (for me which isn’t that long tbh but whatever) and it hit me that I don’t? Know? How? The process of getting a haircut works? I have been going to the same woman and getting the same exact haircut that I don’t have to pay for and have no idea how to actually describe in a way that would be helpful for like ten years. Like I sit down she goes “same as last time” and we spend the next half hour gossiping as she does the same as always. How do I translate that? How do set an appointment? How do I deal with the fact someone I don’t know has to touch me to cut my hair? How do I tip?

I’m… probably just going to buy a pair of clippers and say fuck it. Like if I fuck it up too bad I can just shave my head.
