Axel Hou (July 13, 1860 - 1948) was a Danish painter. Hou studied at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen and further in Paris. He is best known for his portraits, but he also did religious art - and this delectable still life:

Taburet is a contemporary, functional stool by renowned Danish designer Cecilie Manz. With two artist parents, Manz encountered the world of design in early childhood. Her own career began in 1997 with an academic education from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Produced for Danish furnishings giant Fritz Hansen, Taburet incorporates seamless joinery, balanced dimensions, and meticulously aligned grain patterns.

Despite a butt shot of steroid for my arthritis, and a battery of bloodtests for my endocrinologist, leaving me sore and exhausted, I am still working on my Armand x Blender drawing, as the X-Men/Young Avengers branding on my blog really won’t do now that I have fully succumbed to IWTV brain rot.

If you’re new to my blog, hi, I am Anna, I am chronically ill/disabled with Rheumatoid Arthritis and primary Addison’s Disease, which means I have a lot of free time. I also studied art and Game/Media Design at the Royal Danish Academy for many years, which means I have the ability to render a blender in minute detail.

I also have ADHD which means I have the hyperfocus to do so.

So I brought my iPad along with me to draw when the handicap flextrafik came to pick me up for hospital (It’s a service we have in Denmark which is basically cheap Uber for disabled and old ppl who can’t take public transportation).

The drivers are really super sweet, and you get to know them as it’s very natural to small talk. This time I was in a drawing mood tho, so I pulled out my iPad.

“Oh wow, you’re really good! What are you drawing?”

Uhmm…

Drawings by the Danish painter Johan Thomas Lundbye (1818–1848). From 1845 to 1846 he traveled to Germany, Switzerland, and Italy with support from the Royal Danish Academy of Art.

Imellem to tider via royal danish academy

Bjørn Wiinblad (Sept. 20, 1918 - 2006) was a famous Danish artist and designer. He loved working in ceramics, but also as a set designer for theater or within hotel and restaurant decor. His many, many everyday products are still found in millions of homes world wide, and he has works in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, as well as at MoMA in New York.

His style was very up-beat, almost anti-Scandinavian in its love of squiggles, happy faces and orientalist settings. Here is a design for a Scheherezade-themed quilt:
