I do love the mental image episode 8 conjures of the vampire hunters treating arthur like an animal they're trying to push back into a pen (the pen in this scenario is death). Like boxing him into the cemetery/tomb, warding him away from the gate, the flares to deter running past them... augh, good shit.

Okay, major spoilers for the suckening episode 5 not below the cut anymore cuz the episode’s out.

In ep 1, when the Fangs vampire is biting into Emizel's neck, Emizel's eyes close involuntarily, he sees himself drifting through a "thick, crimson liquid that seems to stretch on forever", and when he 'opens' his eyes he sees himself from a third person view from somewhere above the fight.

Now, the blood thing sounds like episode 5 when he reincarnates, and I'd bet actual real life money that the 'third person view' was from his cat's perspective, and I kinda think that maybe Emizel straight up wasn't supposed to be turned here. Like, I think he was always supposed to have nine lives, and maybe it wasn't added in just because he died in ep 4, because the blood thing happens right before he would've died from blood loss here in episode 1. The sequence would've made sense if he 'closed' his eyes again and found himself back in the blood ocean for the next 8 hours. He would've woken up, and because he didn't get the chance to tell Soda to run one last time or distract the Fangs vampire with surprise fatherhood, Soda would likely be dead, and that would've been his motivation for hunting down the Fangs vampire.

However, through the power of being a fucking gremlin, Emizel bites the Fangs vampire back, turns himself, gets up immediately and inadvertently saves Soda's life.

I feel like Soda dying might've deepened Emizel's character, because he's always at his most human and most interesting when he's worried about people and he straight up doesn't know how to handle Shilo's grief and I think this would be the equivalent of smashing in his mental stability with a hammer. I really really really wanna see what that would've done for his characterization but also THANK FUCKING GOD.

Charlie also describes a 'searing pain' and then it being 'peaceful' before the whole blood ocean thing, which i think might be similar to what Charlie describes in ep 4 before Emizel fucking dies, but idk if those are necessarily related.

suckening ep 8 spoilers

arthur lore! (was genuinely so tense and scared during his entire section that i thought i was gonna throw up) two days in a row ive dealt with Grizzly's pcs not catching a fucking break.

Anyways Arthur being like Emizel as a kid but only still with parents who loved him makes me crazy. Like when Grizz said that Arthur saw himself in Emizel as well I expected it to mostly be the anger and overwhelming emotion of being newly turned and mad at the world but the fact that Arthur was also a mischevious punk as a kid.. god. He's watching his past come back and trying so desperately to not let it repeat itself.

Speaking of his parents. His father being a vampire hunter is so heartbreaking to me cause last episode Arthur mentioned that his father still couldn't kill his son despite watching him kill his own mother. His father was a vampire hunter who seemed prepared and professional but he still couldn't do it when it came to his own flesh and blood. He also mentioned the fact that they didn't know Arthur had been turned so that's why he was basically bedridden and starved for blood but his father should've known what the signs were at the very least. The fact he had a photo of his family on him to his very last breath destroys me cause god Arthur's family loved him. This isn't like Emizel and Shilo where their parents are distant or cold or harsh but they fucking loved him and the world was just cruel enough to take them away.

Along with family I thought it was interesting that Shilo almost never called Emizel by his name this episode but only "my brother." he's latched on to that connection a lot and I can't remember if he was like that in the last episode but it was more noticable in this one because the fact they were together. Like of course he would latch on because as far as he knows, Emizel is the only family he has left that actually seems to care for him. Emizel and Shilo care for each other and want each other to be safe despite Emizel's frustration and almost resentment towards his mother because he knows that Shilo didn't choose for that to happen. Shilo cares because why wouldn't he? That's his brother and he loves him why shouldn't he. Emizel making sure that Shilo got out and knew that no matter what he'll be alright and Shilo making sure that Emizel at least has a slight plan to be safe and just graaaah

Also I will never forget Arthur calling Magnus his best friend because that relationship still makes me fucking crazy. Also makes me think about when they met since Arthur came to America in 1918 (almost my nana's bday) and Magnus is in his 40s. I need to find out how they met one way or another.

Hi I disappeared about talking about Arthur cause I got (still am) hyperfixated on Grizzly's new gnc dnd baddie please go watch Shadows Over Welde

Anyways can we talk about how Arthur is fucking gone again 😭😭😭 like the whole episode was fucking insane to me and I soooo genuinely hate Edward Twilight with a burning passion oh my god I have always hated that bitch and I think started like lowket disassociating during his scenes cause he made me that uncomfortable 😭

But yeah Arthur is now flying back to England,,,, the note he left for the boys kinda hurts and especially after Shilo had been wanting, asking to be there with Arthur because he wants to help him the same way he's help the twins. It's gotta be insane emotions swirling up. I just wonder how long it really is gonna take and what he's gonna be up to. I also wonder if he has any other contacts there or if he's gonna have to face any dangers even more alone than usual. Or if Magnus is somehow there again lol

I also wonder what Arthur is gonna feel when he gets back and the twins have literally intertwined themselves into the plans of some vampires that wanna play God. It's just. We're in for another insane episode for ep 8
