been obsessed with the older brother dynamic with aomine lately

kinda goes both ways: him having older brother figures and him being the older brother. mostly thinking of this role in relation to touou, but nijimura was his first older brother figure without him realising it. nijimura couldn't help it; he sees this rowdy kid and wants to pummel him (older brother instinct) while also maybe wanting to put band aids on scraped knees and ask him if he's alright without actually saying anything (come play basketball with me. come have lunch with me. let me lace your shoes before the game.)

after imayoshi leaves touou, wakamatsu takes on the older brother role that nijimura did. only then does aomine realise what was goin on at teiko, what nijimura was to him and why he felt so weird when he gave the captain position to akashi. wakamatsu's not as nice at him, but aomine doesn't care. it's the kind of rough-housing that boys grow into and he finds he actually kind of likes it. their bickering from aomine's first-year becomes less genuine and more like an annoying habit. wakamatsu nougies him once and aomine elbows him in the ribs hard enough the vice captain has to stand in while he's getting checked out for broken bones. they're alright after that.

between him and sakurai, there's about nine days separating them in age. either way, aomine's taken up the big bully of an older brother role (entirely on accident and definitely started on accident the first day he stole food from his lunch box) but sakurai accepts it; it's an unspoken bond between two only-children. sakurai gets used to aomine's rough headlocks when he so much as reaches into his bag, and eventually starts making a substantial amount of food for him and aomine. (he once tried making aomine a lunch; he said it doesn't taste as good as stealing it from sakurai's).

listen. i just really fucking want aomine to have brothers he can look up to and pick on as someone who has his own sibling troubles. enter nijimura and wakamatsu as aomine's unofficial older brothers and one sakurai ryou, subjected to the same treatment.

Hi! I just wanted to say I love your Bakura art! What’s your favorite headcanon for him??

Hey! Thank you so much!! 🥹 💖 This means a lot. I actually have a ton of headcanons for him (and YB and TKB)! From the weird little habits and daily rituals I imagine him doing to more peculiar things. But I'm not the best at putting them into words. They kinda just float around as vague concepts in my brain. I'll give it a try, though! 

A headcanon I enjoy (and I'm 100% sure I'm not alone with that, so I don't take credit for this one 😅) is that Bakura collects strange objects that have a certain 'vibe' or aura, which he enjoys. It's hard to say if they're cursed or not. He just vibes with them, which means that he probably has a box, or a drawer, or something like that, which is just full of weird little knick-knacks, trinkets, or just stuff that has a vibe (according to him and probably him only) or maybe even a dark history. Not that he's a hoarder; he's probably very peculiar about the things he picks up, and it doesn't happen that often, but if something catches his attention, he brings it home. He might involve it in a ritual or two just to see if something happens. Maybe the object in question has magic capabilities. Who knows, right? I think most of the stuff he finds he doesn't even purchase. It's just things that find their way into his life, which is what makes them so special to him. He probably even tells Amane in his letters all about the latest thing he's found. I really enjoy thinking about the items he deems worthy of picking up, or what stuff he has in that drawer. I imagine he probably loves to show these things off to a close friend; once he trusts someone enough. If the item in question has a dark history, he'll enthusiastically tell his friend everything about it.

Bakura Headcanons/Ramblings 👻

Hehehe remember however long ago when I was like yeah I’ll make a post abt my own personalized Bakura, yeah well this is the post I am not accepting criticism for what I say is FACT

- So just as a refresher my Bakura uses they/them/ghost/rot pronouns mhm mhm 🫡

- Methinks to fit along with the creepy n unsettling vibe rot has, they need to be taller

- 5’9 is not enough my ghost boy is now 6’2

- I need them to loom over majority of people

- Anyways Bakura most definitely is the leader of some underground cult and won’t admit it but with all the things they’re able to do it makes you think otherwise 😭

- “Hey remember how you lost your ring in the river, so turns out with all the constant movement in the water it ended up in the ground and I had someone get it they drowned but it’s okay and now I have it, so here you go 🥰”

- Bakura’s home would get that boy ARRESTED

-not that what’s in there is necessarily illegal,,, but it’s definitely concerning

- there’s like taxidermy and like medical preservation jars and ngl their house smells like straight canned ASS

- They say the smell of death is distinct and you’ll know it when you smell it,,,, well let’s just say you’re gonna be on high alert in ghosts home

- speaking of smells, me thinks Bakura doesn’t smell bad per se, but they smell,,, clean…? Like… that sterile smell that hospitals have, that’s Bakura

- they have a pet crow and snake

- The Crow is named Nevermore and the snake is Apep

- speaking of which I think Bakura would love Edgar Allen Poe

- which is why rot named the crow Nevermore

- anyways Bakura would be the worst person to go to if you need to vent

- Yugi: Yeah yknow im just really sick of Kaiba undermining and belittling me it kinda hurts…

- Bakura: Want me to slip cyanide into his next meal? I’m running low but I think it’s going to a good cause

- sure some poisons or general chemicals are okay and legal to own in small amounts, but with Bakura interesting hobbies, it’s not a small amount

- on some Jeffrey dahmer shit ngl ghost is like chemically removing all the meat n shit off animal bones

- They display the bones in different part of their house

- It’s not Even like, oh that’s a huge sign of a future serial killer, it’s truly just morbid curiosity with Bakura 😭

- Not that Bakura isn’t necessarily capable of it 👀

- I dunno why Kaiba is the victim in this list 😭

I do love the mental image episode 8 conjures of the vampire hunters treating arthur like an animal they're trying to push back into a pen (the pen in this scenario is death). Like boxing him into the cemetery/tomb, warding him away from the gate, the flares to deter running past them... augh, good shit.

Do you think Marik ever looks at Ryou and sees all the scars he got during battle city and blames himself? Do you think he ever sees Ryou get that blank look in his eyes as he stares up at the sky and feels guilt twist up inside him? Do you think he ever sees Ryou's fingers brush over the mark that's still on his arm and wish that everything has been different?

He didn't purposefully hurt Ryou but he had been caught in the crossfire, another piece of collateral in Marik's long line of mistakes. Another person who was hurt in his journey to kill the Pharaoh. Another person he has to look in the eyes and find a way to beg for forgiveness he doesn't deserve.

And Ryou is far too kind to him, he's already forgiven him. Already said he doesn't blame Marik for what's happened to him. But that's just like Ryou, isn't it?

"Don't worry about me, I'm fine!"

"It's ok, I know you didn't mean to."

"Oh, I'd almost forgotten about that-"

But Marik can see it in the way Ryou carries himself, he's bearing the burden of the hate of everyone around him. He's holding onto the anger of Bakura deep inside himself, trying to keep it from overflowing. He's keeping Marik's own darkness close so he doesn't have to feel it all himself. Because Ryou is too kind. Because he's too gentle. Because he's too forgiving.

And Marik has to watch him just smile and act like everything is alright, like he isn't falling apart under that smile. Like he isn't filled to the brim with everyone's anger and hate and fear.

Like he is ok.

I just watched DSOD again... For the first time in what felt like decades to be honest.

Everytime I watched the movie up until now, my heart shattered into pieces the moment Atem left Yugi and his friends without any chance of him returning another time. This time however, it was different.

The final moments of the film played, they graduated, said goodbye to Tea who was on her way to America... Everybody was moving on, becoming an adult, live their lives. The series... Has ended. It is a happy ending. Yes. But it is also sad knowing that Kazuki Takahashi will never bless us with any content ever again. No more drawings of Mai and Joey relaxing at the beach, no more concepts of Seto's and Yugi's game development future.

No more genuine love and appreciation for the world and characters he has created. I know that Takahashi gave Konami the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh!. I know that Konami is - at the end of the day - a company in a capitalistic society, focused on making more and more money. But at least for me - at the center of it all will always be the creator himself. Takahashi has my utmost respect for creating this world and the characters and never losing sight of what he wanted this franchise to actually be - A story about friendship and personal growth through hardship.

I don't think words can truly express what impact this show had on me - Watching it as a child, my first childhood crush, being very passionate about the story and characters, yet incredibly unenthusiastic about putting effort into learning the TCG, watching Duel Monsters, GX, Season Zero, YGOTAS, 5D's. Finding a home and family within this universe, going back to it during tough times. The memes, the parodies, the OCs, the games, the fanart, the song covers, the incredibly sappy and sometimes outright horrendous fanfiction... Sometimes on my part, I do admit.

Back when the news first came out that Takahashi had passed away I didn't know how to word my emotions... Infact, I still have my attempt saved as a WIP.

I am incredibly sad that he has passed. But he left something for all of us. And I am so grateful that he created Yu-Gi-Oh! And got to give these characters the story and happy ending they deserved. And this show is something we can keep with us for our entire lives, even though the creator has already passed away... and keep creating.

I know I sure as heck will even if it will just be for myself.
