The wistful feeling of looking through old photos of me and my no-longer-best-friend and remembering all the fun we had and how there’s never going to be any new memories with her.
#In some ways she’s never going to leave our home#the jar she painted for me last year sits on my shelf#the sweater she lent me for a dance a while ago sits in my drawers#the markings of her height over the years still remain in sharpie on our height wall#the pictures of us remain in my camera roll#the souvenirs from my middle school dc trip remind me of standing outside the Capitol in the rain#giggling with her as my eyeliner smeared and my clothes soaked through#the memories will never truly fade#there’s just never going to be any new ones#we won’t have graduation pictures together#we won’t get to become roommates#I don’t regret anything#i just wish it could have lasted a bit longer
