🦎 + EXTREMELY predictable question from me, but what do you think makes a good transformation in DBZ- design-wise and narrative-wise?
Momo Talks About Shit So She Doesn't Fall Asleep At Work || Open!
[Gotta get the DBZ questions in and I always welcome them. Ask Nebula and Lea; I can talk about this dumbass series for hours (sorry guys).
I can't say I've given this much DEEP thought. I can say without a doubt that SS4 was the best transformation this series has done TO DATE for a million reasons, and does hit a lot of notes that i feel a good transformation in this series should. First, the look alone is TIGHT and interesting to look at. They even made it VARY for each character which I think is HELLA NEAT and just wish there was like an explanation for it (i.e. why vegeta's eyes are blue and goku's yellow? Red fur vs pink fur? Etc.). We got tails again, fur, different eye and fur colors, long hair without going overboard (don't get me wrong; i actually don't mind SS3 TOO much, but it wasn't peak transformation design by any means), and TIDDIES OUT (which isn't a requirement but I definitely enjoy that personally). It is somehow over the top while not being too much all at once and it just WORKS.
It also dove back into the roots of the Saiyan race and the Oozaru form in both appearance and lore which is absolutely *chef's kiss.* I love that the form sank back into OG Saiyan lore while offering something unique and different from what we had already seen in SS to SS3. Barring the stupid ass way Vegeta gets it (don't talk to me I will never not be mad about it ok), Goku had to get his tail back--cringe as that scene is fuck--transform into the Golden Great Ape, AND find a way to control it and harness that power to achieve a new level of power. It also didn't just fully rely on the sort of "get angy" narrative (even if it IS a little deeper than that in actuality) that had sort of driven other transformations while as I said bringing back Saiyan roots. Don't talk to me about thr U6 saiyans on this either gfdi
So, taking that as the example, I guess my answer would be a look that's more interesting than a pallette change like they have been doing with most transformations of late along with the form tying into the lore or background of the character in both appearance and how it's achieved/how it works. They kind of half ass tried the last bit with SSG by retroactively making it a part of Saiyan lore (that Vegeta didn't know but the Namekians did? Make it make sense), but it definitely just...doesn't work. Plus the ritual they have to use (which also makes no sense for Saiyans and clashes with what we know of them, which is MAYBE the point but doesn't make it cute or unique or creative) becomes obsolete by the next arc/movie so...yeah. It's incredibly flimsy and there is no real understanding of what SSG and its subsequent forms even ARE, let alone what god ki even is. Is SSG actually an inherently Saiyan form, or is it just a Saiyan that has harnessed god ki and then transformed while using it? There is nothing clearly defined about the forms (or really even UI and UE, Frieza's forms, etc.) that makes them interesting or feel fleshed out or related to the characters as a whole. It's just.. oh, he's blue now I guess? Kay.
Plus like...give me crazy shit again. Like Cooler's fifth form? Fuck yeah, cool as shit. Cell's transformations? Even clown boi is intriguing and makes you go wtf Gero? Hideous as Super "He Stole My 'Do" 13 is, it's INTERESTING (and again, wtf Gero). Even FRIEZA'S transformations were interesting and looked really neat and felt organic until its just..."lol I picked gold to mock super saiyan haha stupid monkeys" (that form looks stupid BTW Fite me). What's his excuse for Black Frieza? We gonna get edgy emo Frieza who says he chose black like his soul? Heck. I'll give them props because they KIND OF tried design wise with Ultra Ego, but it still lacks real intrigue in that department and has the same disconnect and 🤷‍♀️ feeling the rest of the newer forms have.]

I should start talking about my Sonic OCs at this point. Got tons to say, and what inspired it all was the Sonic Flash videos from SuperShadow124 back in the day. 2009, and that series Trolls Unleashed, to be exact. Btw, he's still around, channel name is Double S Animations now.
Anyway, the title for my Sonic OC stuff overall is HYPER.
This is Kai The Rapid, a hedgehog of the Hypernoid race. A speed-type race, all of which have special eyes that see everyone's true nature. That race is nearly wiped out because of a sentient parasite thats affecting many races across the stars. He's one of many members of U.N.I.T.Y, an organization of peacekeepers across the universe, with an HQ in each of the 4 galaxies.
Limit Breakers are transformations for every....creature in the universe. With Rings indicating how many forms they have, because they more the have, the stronger they are, but also means the more power those rings are suppressing. Some may have another power limiter on top. Once they get all 4 rings, they go through an Evolution phase where the rings start to no longer be neccesaary.
Kai currently has one transformation. What he's holding isnt a Chaos Emerald. Other worlds have their own sources of power, with various amounts of crystals, emeralds or other jewels. Kai has one of the 8 Hyper Crystals of his race, and only Hypernoids can access their power. While the Chaos Emeralds are beyond all of them(so Super is basically the Ultra Instinct/Ego equivalent).
His first transformation is called Mega. To describe it, its pretty much what the Sonic films are doing with Sonic's blue lightning & Knuckles' red lightning...base forms. A boost of power, but not too much.
Speaking of Sonic, him & Knuckles not having such limiters makes them powerful af(and Shadow's rings arent the exact same because he takes them off & puts them back on, making him powerful af too). Sonic & rest exist in this world, but the universe is so vast. No one in U.N.I.T.Y knows where Earth & Morbius are, or even heard of those planets. And the only clue of Sonic they have is from tracking this insane amount of speed once that no other speed race can reach. But many have tried.
Oh, and Kai & the rest have DBZ-level attacks(100% because of those flash videos back in the day). And weapons are needed for enemies that cant be punched or spin dashed.

Let's talk Dragon Ball Super episode 111!
Again, this is mostly for me. I think this would be cool to read back way in the future. I wish I had done this earlier in the series since this seems like it will be the second/third to last major Super arc.
Things I'm gonna talk about are Goku's Ultra Instinct, what's left of Universe 6, and can anyone really beat Jiren?
I'd like to note that I don't watch the episode previews because I feel like they always spoil something, and that's kind of lame. I want to see everything fresh.
FIRST OFF, would like to give a shout out to @ciner55 for correctly predicting Frieza was going to give some of his energy to Goku. I saw in the coming days that a load of people predicted this as well, and it is one of those things that is kind of obvious after someone tells you it. Not important, but it also seems like Goku didn't actually instant transmission to Frieza like I thought, but Frieza actually quickly transported Goku since Goku was all surprised.
About Ultra Instinct now, after thinking it some I think it's become more clear that Goku can actually do an even more powerful and complete version of the Ultra Instinct despite what I originally thought. Last week I thought that was it, but it seems like with Frieza hearing of the attack and explaining it to Goku that Goku will end up completing the form. My question is will he look like he did in episode 110 or will he look normal? Or will he have a completely different look? Whis knows how to do Ultra Instinct, but he doesn't look any different. Most people are assuming that Jiren can do, and other than his red aura he looks normal while fighting.
I think Goku will end up looking even more different than he did in episode 110 simply for branding reasons. As fans we like seeing the differences in some transformations in order to know what exactly is happening. As a business Toei loves new transformations so they can sell more merchandise. I can see Goku busting out a whole new look just for those two purposes even though it may not be needed. One question: Will either Frieza or Vegeta learn how to do Ultra Instinct in this tournament? Vegeta obviously hates to be left behind, and Frieza is very curious about this technique. I think with Frieza being the most OPEN evil person in this arc so far that he has a chance to pull it off. Who knows?
Secondly, Hit is a badass. If there is anything new that I love about Super it's the character Hit. I knew that he could at least get one good hit in, and when he trapped Jiren in time my suspension of disbelief kicked in and I thought Hit won lol. I thought that the saiyans should of done a full power blast on Jiren to get a ring out, but that didn't happen which does leave me confused. I also though that Hit was going to commit a double ring out and leave everything to the three saiyans, but that also didn't look like his plan.
I think it's cool how Jiren only wanted to fight Goku and Hit. I love how Hit kept on saying he only had one job and in the end said it was to save universe 6. NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR MY HERO. I also like how much Jiren talked in this episode. Very cool. “You really think you can beat me head-ass boy”
But now Hit is eliminated and only 5 universe 6 fighters remain. The 3 saiyans and the two namekians. And let's be honest, without Hit these guys are now severe underdogs because none of them can match the strongest of the other universes. I called last week that Gohan and Piccolo were going to fight the Namekians, and based off of how they look I think the Namekians are a bit weak. I thought one was going to eliminate Piccolo, but I'm not too sure anymore. I think Gohan and Piccolo are going to make slight work of those two. Tragic. And the saiyans?
Kale is pretty damn strong, and can likely do damage. She's a wild card and could end up being the one of the last fighters perhaps if Akira wants to go that route. MY BABY GIRL FOR LIFE CAULIFLA THE GIRL OF MY DREAMS I LOVE HER SO MUCH YES WE STAN OUR QUEEN can only go SSJ2 which is still pretty strong, but I don't think she's a top 10 fighter left in the tourny. STILL BAE THO. Then there is Cabba who at the moment is the weakest of the three. He looked pretty pissed at the end, but I'm not sure if there's anything left he could do. It'd be a super stretch to give him SSJ Rage like they gave Future Trunks. Dunno. Vados said it right. They're in trouble.
Third and last, who can be Jiren? I touched on this a bit in the first part about Goku perfecting Ultra Instinct. That has to be the conclusion, right? Last week I thought people might just have to gang up on Jiren, but the way things are set up right now it looks like it will be a good old fashion 1v1 winner take all make it take it do or die go hard or go home final d-d-d-d-d-dual.
Looks like Jiren will be tagged out for a few episodes while he chills since he feels like no one is a threat anymore (THE DISRESPECT GAHDAMM.) I can't see Vegeta trying to go in and fight unless his SAIYAN PRIDE (*cought* ego) kicks in. Otherwise, he's smarter than that. Frieza already said he don't want the paws put on him. Cabba may want to jump in for revenge, but idk he'll get daddy dicked with the quickness by Jiren, and maybe even Toppo and Dispo.
Btw.. can we talk about how much dickheads are on the Pride Troopers? I'm sorry, but most of those guys are assholes to me lol especially Dispo. The captain with the eyepatch who was out saving kittens seems like the only friendly guy that is truly good. But yeah, I don't see anyone right now capable of beating Jiren until Goku figures out Ultra Instinct, a new character we haven't seen appears, or one of Frieza/Vegeta learn Ultra Instinct themselves.
Overall this episode was pretty damn good.

🦎 + Are there any scenarios you’d like to see Vegeta in? Whether it be rping-wise, or [in a world where his character was actually done justice] what you’d like to see in the manga or anime? Or another character, if not Vegeta?
🦎 For My Work Thoughts || Open!
[This question is always so hard for me to answer because there are so many I've thought of in the past and now don't really remember all the sort of wish list items I've had for him outside of the obvious AUs that I've mentioned before that would require a lot of plotting and canon shifting that most people don't seem to want to mess with (which I undersaltand). At this point, I've been on such a dry spell with rp in general and with Vegeta specifically that I would honestly just take threads that get him into a deep conversation about his past, his feelings, or really just anything that isn't super shallow and one off stuff. Which with him is easier said than done.
As far as talking about what I would like to see canon material do with Vegeta, outside of him killing Beerus since they want to make HIM the one that told Frieza to merc the Saiyans, i...don't really care any more. They've done so much damage to him already that like...unless they just completely remove him from Earth shenanigans and let him do his own thing disconnected from everything else, I don't think I would feel satisfied. And even then that's probably not really what I think should happen because balance. The reason I say he would just need to be removed from it all to go on his own path is because, every time he's shoehorned in with Earth shit, they screw it up, from his motivations to his personality and his reactions to shit because, usually, they want the lulz or to further slap us in the face with the garbage "family man" narrative they've forced onto him. And not well, but you all know my feels on that.
Basically, where we are now we'll get moments that feel good for Vegeta, but nothing substantial for his personal arc or the story overall. Which is likely true of Goku and plenty of other characters, too: they give them this nee something, from revelations to power up, but they're so convoluted, pointless, and/or completely unexplained that it all feels irrelevant or binding. Just another moment and then we move on. Like take Ultra Ego. It was basically the equivalent of that Loki meme where he's like "how sad....anyway." Only with this case and even UI and other non transformation moments or revelations it's like "wow neat...anyway." because we never see it fleshed out or connected to the overall narrative. Because it's on my mind, the Bardock bs from the last arc absolutely falls into this category. It had absolutely no real relevance or meaningful (let alone believable) bearing on the plot and just wasted everyone's time. I wouldn't even call it cool tbh. Let the man die.
As for another character, and I've mentioned this in my latest manga discussions, I do hope we get to see more of Goten, and not just as the like...Trunks's sidekick feel he's had so far. He shouldn't be portrayed as his sidekick and I'm mad that that SEEMS to be the direction they're going. I imagine the focus is going to be mainly on Trunks and Goten will be there in the background, stopping him from revealing his secret identity or telling Trunks to take on the "big bad" and save the girl (please note i shuddered and gagged here btw) while he takes on the peons. Give me Goten content. What's his home life like? How does he feel about school? How does he feel about fighting at this stage? What does he want to do (or not do) after school? I want all of the tidbits of info we've gotten about Trunks (which has all been great for the most part, and I've enjoyed seeing how they are setting him apart from his future counterpart) for Goten, the same attention applied to him rather than him just feeling like Trunks's best friend and a secondary character. Goten (and by extension ChiChi) deservse so much more and better.]
