when it comes to the zeki stuff we see in vampire knight memories, i feel like a lot of people are confusing quantity over quality. in comparison to kaname, we obviously see a lot more of zero and zeki, but look at the quality of their scenes. no sex scene like yume, no proper wedding scene like rukain, barely any parent/child scenes between yuuki/zero/ren, and no general romance either? they've had 1, maybe 2, kisses in the whole of vkm and everything else has just been hand holding and them standing or walking next to each other. people are confusing 'scenes with zero' for actual 'zeki moments' when there are barely any in a series supposedly about their happy marriage. sorry for ranting.

Yes I agree with you. Part of the reason I couldn’t get into zeki was I didn’t see that quality romance like I did with not only yume but other ships in general. Sure they have like most of the manga together but most of their scenes are likes standing next to each other most of the time with occasional hand holding lol. They have no like verbal confirmations of their love. I know that’s a big appeal of the ship to have actions over words but it’s really nice to have things said out loud sometimes and we rarely hear anything from Yuuki and it’s mostly zero always confessing to her if you’ve noticed. Like I saw a zeki say that scene where Yuuki said she’d marry zero even if Kaname disapproved and that’s like all they have in the whole manga and they latch onto that now apparently lol. That was the only time that really raised your eyebrows but if you notice she seemed like she was trying to convince herself idk the scene was kinda off but I guess it’s okay they got that one thing lol.

Like that chapter we all panicked about lol if you notice it’s mostly Zero obsessed with her and she’s just there we never hear it from her side besides she wants to keep giving him blood. I guess we got so used to the way vkm is and not seeing yume together the way we did in the original that it’s easy to forget what quality over quantity is and just confuse the quantity of zeki for thinking they’re the true love. Plus vkm sucks in general so it makes you lower your standards and think that yume doesn’t exist anymore and settle for what you see presented to you for actual zeki romance when it’s hardly there. It’s mostly zero’s feelings about Yuuki.

And if you notice from this chapter and in general in vkm zero is still insecure about Yuuki’s feelings for him compared to Kaname even tho he’s spent two centuries with her and she married him, had a family with him, etc like really? 😂 Like sure it was easy for him to convince Yuuki to get together with him cuz Kaname was gone and it’s easy to take someone’s spot when they’re gone but you can see him panicking as soon as Kaname is coming back into the picture he cannot return holding her hand and play the supportive unconditional love guy role like he usually does which is rare. Not saying that’s a bad thing cuz his feelings are valid but it shows that there’s some things unsaid but shown there. I thought it was kind of strange he didn’t hold her hand back but I got so used to the way zeki is in vkm I thought that was just how they were 😂

That’s not to say I’m not still dissapointed in vkm. I wish Hino didn’t expect us yumes to be so patient and optimistic this way but it is what it is lol. Vkm doesn’t dimish the romance in the original series and if you notice vkm has some rare quality yume stuff in the early chapters I think it’s just gotten really rare latley due to her having to focus on zero in vkm and recently before he dies cuz once he dies that’s over for his character for real. Like when Kaname dies that wasn’t really it for him so I guess that’s why she can disregard him for so long cuz his story isn’t over yet and will be shown at the end which is close now

I don't wish for yume anymore or any ship , just kaname being happy , that's all I wish for .

I don't care if yuki comes back or remains dead , but if Kaname doesn't end up happy, then Hino just write a better story next time, so the Readers won't be traumatised , I hate Yuki's character so much from the bottom of my heart . So trust me whoever Kaname ends up with , atleast they would be honest about their feelings and life . I have very attachment left with this ship . I don't care about anyone's compatiblity issue or anything.

Now please let him be happy , if you want to give him a love interest , thank you very much otherwise just write some beautiful times with his daughters , him enjoying his life with them without this great longing stuff that you are throwing at us ... Japanese Fans Rank Their Top 10 Favorite Anime Openings of 2021

  With 2021 in the rear, Japanese website Anime! Anime! polled its readers on what their favorite anime opening from the past year was, with 741 people taking part in the survey – which was down from the over 1,000 people who responded last year. While the top of the list may be the first few songs you think of, from 2021 the rest of the list has a few unexpected jams.

  Of the 741 respondents, 43.7% were male and 56.3% were female with 19-years-old and under being 48.9% percent of people, 20 to 24-year-olds being 16.5%, and 25+ taking up the rest of the survey group.

  Note that this survey was held by Anime! Anime! and has no affiliation with Crunchyroll, we’re just as interested in what Japanese fans think as you are!

Tsubaki Chou Lonely Planet

So, Tsubaki Chou Lonely Planet has finally ended and I can’t describe into words how happy I am with the end.

God, I am so happy !!!

Akatsuki and Fumi got their happily ever after ! I was waiting for the series to end so that I could read it in one go, which I did this week, only few chapters are left. I’d wanted them to end up together from the very beginning and I am so glad they did. I remember gushing over them when the series was published in 2015. I am very happy Akatsuki and Fumi are together.

I was hesitant to read the chapters as they were published since I know what happens in Daytime Shooting Star. I knew I wouldn’t have been able to handle it if Akatsuki and Fumi didn’t end up together.

I haven’t read Hirunaka no Ryuusei and I have no plans of reading it. I saw manga edits of Shishio Satsuki and well, lets just say that made me pretty sad. I ended up reading the extras, and well, I think it’s for the best I didn’t read it. As far as I am concerned, Satsuki/Shizume and Mamura/Shizume are the only two ships for this series. I don’t care about that manga editor who is there in extras.

I was so scared when I saw that Margaret cover featuring both Shishio and Akatsuki. I was literally like - NO!!! He will not have your fate, Satsuki, no.

Please no! Akatsuki and Fumi have to be together.

VK  made me very upset, I will not put myself through that again. I regret wasting so much time on vampire knight, I really do. I love Yume, Kaname, Takuma and Seiren but I have absolutely no interest in Ai or Ren or Sayori or Aidou.

I want Yuuki and Kaname to be together again, I don’t care how it happens. I love this ship and I always will. It’s the only reason I still follow this series. but I am not going to make  the same mistake I did with VK and buy the volumes of VKM. Hell no.

I read some comments about TCLP and I was surprised when I saw people saying the author only wrote it because how Daytime Shooting Star ended, it’s pretty similar to that.

Are you actually implying the author regretted her own work that much that she ended up writing a whole new series of 14 volumes because of it?

Yes, the premise is similar and so is the art. But many mangaka’s draw similar characters : Arina Tanemura, Hino Matsuri, Clamp, Shungiku Nakamura, Rihito Takarai, Yuki Shimizu.

But to imply she only put Akatsuki and Fumi together because of regret or fans anger at Daytime, I dunno. Seems pretty odd thing for an author to do.

Personally, I don’t care whether she drew it out of regret or angry fans. All I know is that Akatsuki and Fumi were together in the end and I enjoyed TCLP  a lot. It’s a great series and I am glad I read it. They deserved to be with each other and I am so so happy that are together.

As for Daytime Shooting Star, let’s just say I was rooting for Shishio. I like Mamura Daiki but I dunno. It’s one of those mangas where one is like, yeah, it happened. Let’s not talk about it.

I am still bitter about how Arina Tanemura treated Itsuki Otomiya in Shinshi Doumei Cross. He never even finds out that Haine is his daughter and there is no colour illustration for the man in a freaking artbook of the series.

Sometimes you just don’t like some things. I am sure if Eichi hadn’t died, he wouldv’e ended up with another fangirl in Full Moon. The thought itself gives me the creeps.

Many people wanted Takato to end up with Nanako in Nanoka no Kare too, I didn’t. I hated him. He was nothing but a creep who needed to check himself inside a hospital as soon as possible. Hayata was a darling in it and I hated the fact Nanoka got so many scenes with the fucker. Hayata and Nanoka should have been together and I am glad they did. Do I care for Nanoka, not really, but at least she was horrified that she spent time with Takato.

A person doesn’t have to like a couple or a character in a story if they don’t want to. If someone loves canon, fine. if someone doesn’t, that’s fine too.

She begged for money and food, but the pedestrians ignored her, they treated her as she was only a silent shadow.

Once someone stopped before her and threw in her hat some golden coins. She touched his shoes: they were new, without a scratch and the fabric was so smooth. These shoes belonged to a noble. She retracted scarred the hands as she bowed:"I'm so sorry for touching you... I haven't the idea you were a...", but the noble chuckled amused:"It's okay little girl, I won't hurt you. Raise your head". His voice was a smooth and soft, gente, with the sweetness she had never received in her life. The young girl raised nervously the head as the noble continued to speak:"Since how long you are homeless?". "I'm not really sure: when you are blind is difficoult tracking the time. You can't distinguish the sun's light from the moon's and the wind, the snow and the rain don't help at all" she answered. "Would you like to work at my mansion as a maid?" he asked smiling, "Y-yes, stăpân*" the girl exclaimed surprised. The noble with the gentle voice took her arm and they reached the carriage.

The girl's hands were close to his face, ready to touch him:"Can I touch you, stăpân?". The man himself put the hand on his face. She touched gently the features, the hairbrows, the hair and his lips. The skin was smooth, clean and soft, all in him showed his nobility. She chuckled amused and the lord asked:"Why are you laughing? Have you found something fun on my face?", "No, no. It's just... your features: they are sharp and rough and I have learned that the features reflect the person attitude, but you have shown only kindness to me" she denied. The noble chuckled, but didn't say anything. Her fingers were on his lips and by mistake she touched his sharpened teeth. She winced terrifyied, the voice was a tiny whisper:"You are a vampire..." but the noble reassured:"Don't worry, fetiță*, I have no intention to hurt you or bite you, untless you want it, obviously. You still want work in our mansion?". "Our mansion? What do you mean?" she asked, "I live in a mansion with a friend, he's a vampire too, but neither him will harm you". Well... She didn't have so many choice, did she?

The two pureblood were on the balcony, observing the little girl as she worked.

"I must say it: when you brought the girl at the mansion, you surprised me a lot. I didn't think you were so merciful" said le Comte, "I was surprised too, but seeing a young girl like herself alone on the street, has moved something inside me. On her cheeck there was a bruise, probably someone hurted her earlier" agreeded Vlad. Le Comte's eyes opened wide:"Is the first time you feel pity towards a human, between the both of us you are the most ruthless with human".

The features reflect the person attitude, but you have shown only kindness to me. The fetiță couldn't imagine how much she was wrong: he was Vlad Tepes, also known as The Impaler, he impaled women, children and eldery without the slighest feeling of guilt and know he fed from humans, killing them to don't create new vampires.

Le Comte smiled seeing his friend so troubled by a simply human girl. His friend was merciless, sometimes ever cruel towards human, but he was another person with her... Slowly she was changing him and his friend hadn't realized it yet. Abel smiled to himself: that girl was interesting.

Le Comte spent more time with the human girl, but as the time passed he was more intrigued by her and he was attracted. Before he could realize it, he fell in love with her as much as Vlad and the two vampires started to rival for her attentions as their relationship was slowly degrading. Both of their immortal hears beated for a human girl and neither of them wanted ignore the love for the other's sake. If only there had been a solution... they still would be friends and not enemy and mayby the little girl would have been alive and not a gravestone. If only they would have chose the third option...

Ther was another choice. If only you two would have shared

What is the perfect ending for Kaname?

It’s not a secret for anyone that I love Yume, it's simply perfect, the love between them, the passion that overflows is wonderful, that why Yume is and always will be my favorite couple of all time..

It's true that zero and yuki had hundreds years together, they got a family and for sure they had many moments of happiness, but even so, zeki never had and never will the sense of eternity of Yume, that love that surpasses anything, where there is no time, space or person to interfere in their feelings that both feel in each of their "multiple" lives, where they seek each other and find nothing but moments, it is sad, but beautiful and deep at the same time, because that kind of love happens only once in a lifetime.

However, even though I love yume with all my soul, I love Kaname EVEN MORE, so here is where I asking myself: What is the perfect ending for Kaname?

I know that many want Yuki brought back to life so they can be together as it has to be, honestly I don't see this option too viable, and personally I don't like that much, it's like "I lived a thousand years with one and now some years with the other one" and everyone happy, but that's not how it works, from my point of view it would be something gross and pitiful even for a bad writer like Hino ... but i'm talking about me, but if I think about Kaname, surely for him it would be fine, since he has a new life in which he doesn't even remember her, but knows that he loved her deeply.

The other scenario is Kaname falling in love for someone else and may have a full life as human. This idea like me, because my Kaname that I love with madness, the one who has experienced the deepest loneliness deserves to be alone even in his life as human? NO, just NOT ... Kaname doesn’t deserve to have someone to wait for him at home, cook for him, to draw a smile on his face, someone to share his days and nights, to be spoiled for a girl, someone to dress (and undress ) for him? Nobody deserves it more !!!!  Kaname deserves to be happy for a fucking time in life, nobody can be happy living only from memories, Kaname knew that very well and that's why he asked Yuki to accept Zero's feelings.

But then.. if that happens… WHAT ABOUT YUME? Yume is not going in just one direction, going in two ways, if Yuki could get a family and have some happiness while remained loving Kaname, Kaname can't  do the same? Why expect that loyalty only from him? Because he is human and lives so much less, and Yuki being eternal couldn't stay alone forever? It's like the eternal discussion about yuki's smile... Only she deserved to have a smile on her face? I mean, Yuki didn't put a smile on Kaname's face either, I come back and repeat, it goes in two ways.

With this I don't mean that they didn't love each other, on the contrary, they loved each other so much and so deeply, but that love prevented them from being totally happy, I guess that's why many people see their love sick and obsessive, and it really is, so sickly that refuses to die, they have spent all their life trying to find each other, in the past or in the present, even in the future, which I do not doubt will happen, but as always, it will be for a moment.

So ...  YUME dies if Kaname falls in love with someone else? The answer is NO, just as it did not die when Yuki got a family with zero, and this is because the love between them will never die, they will always remember each other, always long for each other, and always love each other, but could never be together, at least not physically, because she is already part of him, ALL her heart, not half, not a part, ALL her heart kept it for 1000 years to give it to him and now he knows and feels it.

To say Yume dies by not being physically together is an insult, because Yume is not to be physically with the other, is to be with the other from the mind, the soul and heart, that’s why Yuki after 1000 years can say "to you whom I love so much" as if it were the first day.

 At this point,  it’s not that Yume dies because they "were happy" with somebody else, but in spite of that someone else, they will never stop loving each other, no matter if they are humans, vampires, dead or alive, in this lies their tragic love story, in which both Kaname and Yuki had to settle for a life of unfulfilled desires because they could never be together.

That’s a good question lol. I know I’ve seen some theories that Yuuki was the hooded woman so that’s a possible answer

I know there’s a panel where yuuki is wearing a hood and there’s dust. So maybe she met him all those years ago and she was OG Yuuki and she kept getting reincarnated. That could explain the Kurans and why Kaname loves Yuuki so much. I really like this one for canon explaition cuz it seems most fitting. And it adds even more depth to the fact that Yuuki was born for Kaname and now we’d know for sure Kaname was born for her too. I really like the “born for each other concept” And then Yuuki died and then Kaname got to depressed he was without her for so long he forgot everything and met the hooded woman. And then Yuuki from the future etc. Yume low key is a ship with supernatural elements and I think Hino could’ve added more details to enhance it

I guess this could fit with the reincarnated concept too but I like the idea that Yuuki and Kaname were the progenitors so the OG vampires that came out of climate change. Maybe they were distantly related or something and then they met each other and realized they had the same condition. Maybe Yuuki was Kaname’s first wife. I like the idea that Kaname was just like an average Joe at one point going through life without motivated and Yuuki tells him off that there’s things to care about like the humans and she’s part of the reason he loves humans so much. So much fanfic potential! Lol

To all those brave souls who has been invested in vampire knight manga since the beginning, how were you able to do it... like I have been only here for some time and it's heart breaking for me but you guys have been here so long , had such good analysis, shipped yume with all your heart , some might have cried more tears than yuki when Kaname died, just how were you able to go on ... and you still continue with memories , i seriously admire you guys , your ability to love and support something that you admire for so long . I can see the heartbreaks , how so many fans have been played , how many changed their opinions , yet like some of you stayed and still appreciated the manga , loved a character and a ship with all their flaws and beauty . This is just amazing.

I may be overthinking, but why Ren called Kaien('s doll) as Ai's boyfriend? Also before Kaien died, did nobody knows that he is actually a vampire as well? Sorry for stupid questions. I wasn't really up to date with vk, i just want to see Kaname and yume haha

Part of me feels like Hino was teasing the Kaien x Juri shippers just one last time with the doll thing. In Chapter 17 when Kaien died, the parallels between Juri and Ai were huge, and even in Chapter 18, we saw that Kaien confused Ai for Juri and then Yuuki. So the doll thing felt like Hino’s last reference towards Kaien x Juri / Kuran Women?? Idk, I could be reading into it too much as well lol. 

Also, Kaien was never a vampire. All Hunters have some vampire DNA in them and Kaien just happened to have a lot more than usual. So that’s why he turned to dust at the funeral~

Nobody is a god

There is something, what Yuuki realized fully in last VK volume and what she tried to not allowed to keep in her mind (or maybe even she have never imaginated it) for most of time. And the “shadow” of this we can see for the whole VKM near a few characters. It was a “discovery” that Kaname isn't actually so indestructible as he seems. He can be hurt, dejected or dead. There were a moments when she realized this in some part (incident with Shizuka in volume 4, Sara’s madness in volume 18, some reflections etc.), but she realized it fully only after the situation when it turned out that the source metal suddenly went crazy, cooled down and absorbed all weapons, except for a few, which also slowly destroyed (chap. 92 and the cracking Bloody Rose). 

Kaname felt that he had to act, and knowing that as ancestor he's the most powerful, so the weapon will be also like this, he decided to sacrifice himself. He was also burnout inside and had a deep depression, what Yuuki also fully realized in last volume. When her fears came true and the most important person in her life turned out to be more fragile than she imaginated, Yuuki broke down.

This conviction about his omnipotence was also in the minds of others. Kaname through of his ability to hide any weaknesses to anybody, he gave the impression of indestructible, what it was probably one of the reasons for this wrong conviction that nothing would ever happen to him. But ofc there were also another. He was an ancestor, pureblood vampire, king, member of the Kuran family and all these labels unfortunately also worked. But is it so hard to just realize by themselves that no one is indestructible and invincible? That maybe he also had problems, he suffered, maybe a lot, and he needed some help?  It's sad that most of then really noticed it only when it was already too late.

Like Nietzsche said: Even the biggest heroes are sometimes tired. Look, how pretty simple this sentence is. I don’t get it why so many characters around didn’t saw it too much until when this hero died...

Btw, It was sad and romantic in the same time, when Yuuki decided to give Kaname happiness and to sacrifice herself for his better life, not because she was afraid to stay alone (because she decided to die so it wouldn’t be any logic if she would afraid of an alone future).The same thing Kaname wanted to do for her. He also wanted to give Yuuki happiness, and because of above-mentioned reasons, he thought he would not be able to make her happy. Although he was wrong. I wrote sth more about it in one post, where I write, why and how much yume stands out next to other couples in VK >Link< It remind me some quote by Alexander Pope:

Yuuki forgave Kaname for escape and a lot of lies, knowing that he did it for her good and good for weaker. She also forgave for his decision, understanding his psychological condition. Kaname forgave Yuuki for the moment of weakness and as result the treason, and also a lot of infantile antics which were made him worry, knowing that Yuuki  has to just mature and some day she will do it.

So well... maybe nobody is a god, but these two have inside “sth” divine ;)

Fear vs. Love

As I previously mentioned, my posts consisting of my thoughts and opinions will be under a cut for those that wish to read them. So as to refrain from offending others, disclaimers will be provided as well in case those that may be sensitive to my topics of interests can be fully warned.   

Disclaimer: Slightly anti-pairings in general. This is mostly a criticism towards Hino’s form of writing relationships.  However, take caution if you do not wish to read any criticism over your favorite pairing(s). 

Preview/teaser:  For nearly all these characters, they’re driven to propose, marry, or make decisions based solely on fear, and yes, subtextually it may have love in it, however, the meaning the words generally convey is one of fear.

I’ve been trying to think of the best way I could to express why vkm hasn’t sat well with me based on Hino’s choices to convey all her couples. Although there are plenty other reasons than just the couples that bother me about vkm, however, I’ll just be discussing my outlook on the couples the way Hino portrays them. I once made a joke as a post [You can find here] about how each canon couple progresses their relationship right after an event that stimulated fear, which this chapter significantly raised those red flags higher courteous of finally seeing a wedding ceremony upon which Rukain are the first that Hino decides to reveal. I’ll mention upon later those vows mentioned among them. 

As a result, I suspect most of those problems with the couples stemmed from Hino’s own fears and issues bleeding heavily onto the page, (that list could be endless depending on which problem is addressed) since authors have a tendency to work out their own issues through their writing. (See J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter series on which she works through grieving the loss of her mother through her story and characters.) Though what really bothers me the utmost is how most, if not all characters are motivated by fear when it comes to romance.

For nearly all these characters, they’re driven to propose, marry, or make decisions based solely on fear, and yes, subtextually it may have love in it, however, the meaning the words generally convey is one of fear. Such as, before Aidori become engaged, there had to be a situation to which Aidou realizes his fear of Yori being taken away from him by death or otherwise before he could consider committing to marry/be with her. We also have Ruka and Kain, who had plenty of time (decades in fact) to decide to marry one another but a bomb has to trigger Ruka into action that they should get married in order for Kain to be her husband before he dies. Then, for Shima, which is less severe, however, they still take decades before either of them have a thought to commit to each other and it was only after being chased by criminals that Rima then proceeds to nonchalantly propose to Shiki to be her husband. Which doesn’t seem negative, but why is every couple motivated by fear?

Furthermore, I find the proposals to be lackluster. Each proposal was tossed after an event, a stressful simulating event no less, and it never felt like it was developed or deprived of a genuine devotion upon wanting to commit to their significant other because they desire to spend the rest of their life with the one they each loved dearly. No, it was because they’ll die or their loved one will die so might as well get hitched now or make decisions solely based on fear of death. (You know for immortal beings they do fear death a lot.) Even Rukain’s vows had no such mentions of phrases like, “I love you,” or “I promise to cherish you” and it’s their damn wedding vows??

And yes, we can make the argument that this story has vampires so they’re not aware of the flow of time, thus they feel no rush, but not all characters are vampires, most of them are, but not every last one of them. Additionally, from experience based on other vampire stories I’ve read and watched, the vampires are actually hyper-aware of time especially when paired with a human and they become driven to spend as much time and make the most of their shared time together. If the vampires do take their time, however, they eventually commit and it’s not solely after thinking they could lose their loved one.

So I do understand they’re vampires, time feels very differently for them because they live for eternity (well some do) but to make that excuse after every stepping stone in a relationship? Commitment shouldn’t have to be tied down by fear. Commitment should be desired from an expression of love and that love should be easily shown in one’s actions and words. 

So, besides the obvious reasons, I can count the many other ways why Zeki’s last scene bothers me. One of them is the fear that was depicted between Zeki. I don’t mean that Yuuki was afraid of Zero, but she was afraid of losing him. Its okay to be fearful of losing someone, that’s legitimate, that’s natural, but as someone who was in a relationship with a person with borrowed time, my thoughts typically were, “I want to spend each day making the most of the time we have together, to love him and allow him to feel it so he can say he felt loved in the end despite our short time together.”

I’m truly failing to see that thought process contextually or subtextually with Zero and Yuuki. It’s mostly in Yuuki who has been prone to be driven by her fears when she makes almost all her decisions (Both in the original and spin-off). Thus, it does bother me that she’s not remotely driven by love, like the desire to love Zero and make him feel loved despite knowing their time together could be limited, but instead is more motivated by the death of him leaving her and the fact that she’d be alone. It sounds more selfish than it does in giving a positive nuance of being mutually in love. I do understand that everyone has their own way of proceeding certain situations and that can be fear that helps drive them forward, however, commitment or the expression of love still shouldn’t have such a negative connotation. 

My only conclusion is of Hino as a writer and as a person is expressing her own views on what commitment and what love should look like through her pairings unknowingly. Though, there is no clear indication that she realizes or notices these possible issues in her own pairings and what it says about them, so we don’t know what to expect in the future exactly without any way of making heads or tails. I fear Zeki will continue onwards through this trajectory of lackluster proposals and commitments inspired by fear instead of love, especially if vkm13 is any clear indication of anything.

Or, possibly I’m wrong, and Hino clearly knows how commitment and love should look like in a relationship and we’re just having to wait and see how Aidori’s and Shima’s wedding ceremonies turned out and additionally how Zeki will eventually make those milestones as a couple. However, this is putting faith in the same woman that gave us incestuous romances, so my faith in her has been stretched pretty thin as it is. ;P

Side note: I refrained from mentioning the same issues in Yume solely because their moments were in the original and I’m focused within the realm of vkm since all the other couples are being portrayed and developed in that series. Besides, I don’t feel a need to reiterate Yume failing to express genuine love but instead be motivated by fears like the rest since this criticism encompasses how Hino is portraying romance and commitment within all of her pairings. If you wish for me to clarify how Yume also fits the mold, feel free to shoot me an ask about it.

Either way, my intention with this post was to highlight Hino’s commitment fears through her pairings. I truly believe if her pairings had variety, or at the very least had been motivated by love, it would show more clearly through their long term or short term decisions and milestones as a couple. I do hope I’m wrong though. However, each of these cases in isolation wouldn’t be so negative, but together they form a pattern that makes me wonder why every couple is motivated by fear.
