visiting nobles/lords/royals quickly notice that merlin has arthur’s ear and that arthur values merlin’s opinion above all others. when they’re having trouble convincing arthur to go along w their plan or sign their Important Document, they go to merlin to try and convince him to convince arthur. merlin knows what they’re doing. merlin does not want to push arthur one way or another, he wants arthur to make his own choices and lead his people as he sees fit. merlin satisfies both of their needs by seeming apologetic that he can’t convince arthur of this but maybe they can and gives them “tips and tricks” on how to soften arthur up to agreeing to the plan.
its all bullshit.
so far he’s convinced a princess (looking for marriage) that arthur loves frogs and pranks so she filled his chambers with a bunch of toads (arthur is terrified of frogs), a lord (was “wronged” by another lord and wanted a portion of his land) that arthur is a fan of the arts, particularly music, and he ended up breaking into song and dance in front of everyone, and a nobleman (arguing against the repealed magic ban and hoping to bring back uther’s laws) that arthur LOVES potatoes and to just give him one throughout the day whenever he seems him so arthur will associate the nobleman with the joy of receiving his favorite food so he’ll be more inclined to the nobleman’s request (arthur despises potatoes).

For @shipper-of-love
Ever since Lucas and Eliott moved in together they have created a routine. Every morning Lucas would get up (because he had stupid morning classes at the university) and try his best not to wake Eliott as he snuck into the shower. Sometimes he would fail and they would end up just rolling around together for the next thirty minutes (because they are both just needy boyfriends), nearly making Lucas late for his first lecture. But the majority of the time the mornings go without delay. By the time Lucas gets back to the bedroom, Eliott is awake and groggy as always, but Lucas is a sucker for his bed head. Lucas will change and Eliott will fall out of bed to “at least put on a t-shirt to see me to the door!” as Lucas puts it.
Eliott likes to come up behind Lucas and wrap his arms around his waist, pulling them close to how they cuddle when in bed together. Lucas will hum and succumb to his want of kissing his boyfriend, despite the morning breath. Finally Lucas will have on his university uniform of sweatpants and a shirt and they will make their way to the door. It’s always the hardest part for Lucas. Since he has morning classes and Eliott has afternoon classes their schedules have made it impossible for them to actually go on a date or even hang out for an extended period of time. Sure, they live together, but sometimes Lucas still misses him. So that’s why leaving is so difficult. Because he’ll have to spend a full eight hours away from his adorable boyfriend. That’s a whole 480 minutes gone to waste.
Lucas will pause in the threshold and gaze up at his mec with his big eyes, pouting for a kiss. For the first couple months, just after they moved in, Lucas had a bad habit of crying at the door. Eliott would always make fun of him at first before going to kiss the tears away. Luckily, Lucas has moved on from that phase, but it doesn’t mean it’s any easier.
“Get going,” Eliott will whisper as he gently pushes Lucas out the door.
“I am, I am. I’m going.” Lucas will say, but won’t make any move to actually walk away.
“I love you, Lucas.”
“Love you too.” Lucas whispers before eventually finding the willpower to pull away and walk the dreaded steps to the bus stop.
Now, Lucas is faced with the hardest thing anyone has ever asked him to do: say goodbye to his boyfriend and their morning routine for a whole week. A week! That’s a lifetime! A whole 10,080 minutes!
They got a cab together to the airport, and, Lucas will deny it if ever asked but, he was crying the whole way there. Eliott found it cute, thank God he didn’t find it annoying, and he cuddled Lucas in the backseat.
“It’s only a week,” Eliott says, “a week, that’s all. If I could take you with me I would, but my sister is adamant about the wedding being only family…”
“What if we eloped right now, got married, I take your last name and then technically, technically I’m family.” Lucas says as he grips onto Eliott’s shirt.
Eliott smiles, “as tempting as that sounds, I hope you think of me more romantic than that! I plan on proposing to you and everything.”
Lucas blushes, they had talked about marriage together before but never in-depth, so any mention of it has Lucas up in flames. “I’m going to miss you.”
“I know,” Eliott says and presses a kiss to Lucas’s forehead, “I’ll miss you too. I won’t be able to call you until I have access to my sister’s phone, since they live all the way in California.”
Lucas nods and the overhead system comes on for the final call of flight “22A.” Lucas looks frantically up at Eliott, hoping that maybe this was all a joke and that he wouldn’t have to say goodbye for a whole week. Instead his heart is crushed when he sees the pity-smile on Eliott’s face, “I love you, Lucas.”
Lucas doesn’t trust his voice to come out right, so he manages a nod.
“Goodbye, baby.”
Lucas is left with a phantom touch of Eliott’s warmth as he watches the plane take off.
He knows he’s being a dramatic little bitch, he realizes it the moment he gets back home and sits on the couch staring at the wall for two hours. The house already seems so empty without Eliott sitting beside him, and it’s getting harder to remember what his life was like without Eliott constantly butting in.
The first two days Lucas is like a ghost walking around the house. It’s mostly due to the fact that Eliott hadn’t called him when he landed and Lucas was getting increasingly worried. What if their plane blew up? Or it crashed in the ocean? Or got hijacked? Or they got caught in a bad storm?
“Lucas, I’m sure their fine,” Yann groans and rolls his head to the back of the couch.
“But what if they aren’t, huh? What then? That was the last time I ever saw Eliott? I never even said goodbye, Yann!” Lucas says as his pacing speed increases.
“Oh my God, Lucas, you have to let it go! You checked the airlines and it said the plane arrived safely! They’re are fine! Eliott probably is just too busy helping to call!” Yann can tell Lucas is about to interject, so he cuts him off before he gets a chance to open his mouth, “I think what you need is a night out with the guys, yeah? You don’t have any classes tomorrow so it’s perfect!”
“I don’t know, Yann, I’m not really-”
“Bah! It’s happening! I already contacted them and everything!” Yann says and tosses his phone to the side. Lucas looks at him with his signature scowl before sighing and giving in. Once Arthur and Basile arrive they head out to the nearest bar; Lucas in search of alcohol and Arthur in search of someone to make out with. Basile and Yann hang close to Lucas, just to watch his liquor intake. Lucas thought that getting drunk would help, but after two shots of vodka he finds himself curled up on a sofa towards the outer edges of the bar nursing a room temperature beer.
He came to this bar once with Eliott. They had spent the whole night dancing suggestively on the dance floor, making out in between. Lucas recalls moving out of the dancefloor to grab them two more drinks, and when he got to the bar a guy had started talking him up. Lucas didn’t want to be mean, so he had tried to talk with the guy but was going to leave once the drinks were ready. As Lucas had made his move to walk away the guy had grabbed his arm, telling him that they weren’t done talking. Then Eliott had appeared like some ethereal being, pulled Lucas away before telling the guy off and giving him a punch to the face when he said something about Lucas Eliott obviously didn’t care for. Eliott never told Lucas what the guy said, which had made Lucas mad at the time, but looking back it was super sweet.
So there Lucas was, on some cheap leather couch at the back of the club with a couple vigorously making out just a few cushions away. God, that was annoying. Lucas and Eliott used to be the couple who would just break off and make out before sneaking off to head back home. Lucas sighs as he gets up from the couch and begins making his way towards the exit of the bar. It’s all really just a haze of color and moving bodies. He blinks slowly as a person jumps in front of him. His eyes slowly adjust and he recognizes the guy as Basile.
“Lucas! Leaving already?” Basile asks with Yann just behind him.
“I was thinking that, yeah.” Lucas says monotoned.
“But we just got here!” Basile counters and Lucas just stares at him, “c’mon! You’re acting worse than when Eliott got back together with his girlfriend at the beginning of your relationship!
Lucas feels his fists tighten, but luckily (for Baz at least) something in Lucas’s brain tells him he can’t hit his friend.
“I just want to go home,” Lucas repeats.
“Dude, come on, we are just trying to help you-” Yann steps forward.
“Maybe I don’t want your help!” Lucas yells, a lot louder than intended because a few heads turn their way. “Listen,” Lucas takes a breath, “I think I just need to be alone right now.”
Yann grinds his jaw before stepping out of Lucas’s way. He finds himself practically running out of the bar and he gasps once he feels fresh air enter his lungs. Once he’s back in the apartment he walks to their bedroom, opens up Eliott’s closet, and pulls out the first sweatshirt he sees. He breathes in the smell before pulling it over his head. He’s practically swimming in it, but he doesn’t really care as he climbs into bed, planning to sleep the next day away.
The fifth day comes and goes with Eliott’s absence. Lucas still hasn’t heard anything from the guys since a few nights ago, but he can’t bring himself to care with his head being completely abused with the idea of Eliott. He tries and fails to immerse himself in his studies. Thankfully he does get something done, the bare minimum, but at least it’s something.
That night his insomnia comes back and bites him in the ass, keeping him up until the very early hours of the morning. He’s sitting on the couch, curled up in their favorite blanket, watching FRIENDS when his phone rings. He lets it go to voicemail the first time, not wanting to actually move. Then it rings again and he groans as he reaches for it on the coffee table. He answers with a groggy “hello?” wondering who would be up at this hour.
“Lucas?” It’s Eliott.
“Eliott.” Lucas says, nearly breathless.
“Hi, baby.” He can practically hear the smile.
“Hi.”
“Hi.”
Lucas laughs, completely at a loss for words now that Eliott is actually at the other end. “I miss you, so much.”
“I miss you too, just two more days.”
Lucas sighs, “I wish you were home right now.”
“I wish I was home right now too.” There’s a pause, “how are you dealing with everything? How are the guys?”
Lucas pauses, feeling something fish-y in the air, “...did Yann contact you?”
There’s an extended pause before a very quiet “yeah.”
Lucas groans, “wow, way to tell mommy on me, Yann.” Lucas says more to himself than to Eliott.
“‘Mommy?’” Eliott laughs, “I thought I was ‘Daddy.’”
Lucas sighs, completely exasperated with his boyfriend already. “You know what, I’m missing you less now this is perfect.”
“Hey!” Eliott exclaims.
Lucas laughs, “just kidding...Daddy.”
Lucas can practically see Eliott’s lip bite through the phone, “don’t start something you can’t finish, Lucas.” His tone is domineering and a warning, just what makes Lucas’s skin crawl.
Lucas shakes himself out of it, not really in the mood to follow through with phone sex at the moment, “how did Yann contact you?”
“He messaged my mom.”
“What?! Yann has your mom’s phone number?”
Eliott laughs, “apparently, even I didn’t know.”
“Interesting,” Lucas mumbles.
“But are you okay?”
Lucas sighs and lays back into the couch, “as okay as I can be. I never knew it would be this hard to be apart from you.”
“I know, with every passing minute I feel like I should have taken you up on that eloping idea.”
“I really miss sleeping next to you. Sadly my insomnia has come back full-swing ever since you left. The first couple nights were okay cause I had your sweatshirts with me but-”
“You wore my sweatshirts?” Eliott asks, almost shocked.
Lucas pauses and raises an eyebrow, “yeah? I’m wearing one right now. It smells like you.”
“God, I miss you so much. I wish I could take you to bed right about now.” Eliott mumbles into the phone.
“This is getting into dangerous territory,” Lucas jokes.
Eliott hums, “I suppose it is. And I should probably get going because I still need to continue getting dressed for the wedding.”
“Okay,” Lucas mumbles, “miss you.”
“Miss you too, baby.”
The last two days are spent holed away in the apartment with Manon, each with their respective cartons of chocolate ice cream, and binge watching Lucifer. It actually helps take his mind off Eliott, at least for a little while. The seventh and final day Lucas is hanging with Manon, chilling until he has to get out the door to meet Eliott. Manon leaves with Lucas to meet Eliott at the airport, being the emotional support he really needs. They get there over an hour early “just in case!” Lucas had said, though Manon was skeptical.
They ended up eating lunch in the food court, which wasn’t too bad, but Lucas ended up only eating a couple bites. Manon was being really nice about it though, being understanding and telling him to try and eat as much as he can. They finally head over to the gates, and Lucas’s heart was beating rapidly in his chest. Once he saw people start to walk out from the gate his eyes were scanning frantically for a wild tuft of hair. He felt his stomach flutter when his eyes landed on Eliott who is grinning like Lucas has never seen before. They start jogging to each other and Lucas doesn’t really care how cringey they look. Eliott drops his duffle bag on the grab and completely crashes into Lucas with a hug. Lucas lets out soft laughter of relief as he raises to his tiptoes in order to get a better angle for a hug. He couldn’t believe it had only been a week. Up until now it felt like his world was ending.
“I missed you,” Lucas mumbled. Understatement of the year.
“Me too, baby. Me too.”
Eliott barely has time to set down his bags before Lucas pushes him against the wall. Lucas couldn’t wait another second to have his boyfriend’s lips on his. He needed it like breathing. He was practically panting and moaning in the car ride back just from being in the proximity of Eliott. He laughs into the kiss as Lucas’s hands roam around Eliott’s chest and back. Lucas has always had something for the structure of muscle on Eliott’s torso, and he was definitely not complaining.
Eliott flipped them around, so Lucas was pressed against the wall. Eliott smirked as his hand trailed down to cup Lucas’s ass, awarding him a gasp from the shorter boy. “You’re so sensitive, baby.” Eliott speaks lowly as his lips pass Lucas’s ear.
“Well, you’ve been neglecting me for the past week, of course I’m sensitive.”
“Sorry, baby. I plan to fix that.” Just like that Lucas is swept off his feet (quite literally). Lucas instinctively wraps his legs around Eliott’s waist as soon as he feels Eliott’s hands hoist him up.
Lucas laughs as Eliott wiggles his eyebrows and steers them to the bedroom. Lucas is handsy all the way there, taking full advantage of the fact that both Eliott’s hands are being used to keep from dropping Lucas.
Lucas is placed on the bed gently as Eliott climbs on top. Leg sliding between Lucas’ and arms pinning Lucas’ hands above his head, allowing Eliott complete and utter access. He takes the opportunity and runs his hand underneath Lucas’s shirt, supplying each nipple equal attention, before taking the shirt off completely.
“Off, off,” Lucas says as he tugs at Eliott’s shirt.
Eliott complies, tossing his shirt haphazardly to the side before leaning down and kissing Lucas once more. Lucas can practically feel how hungry Eliott is as his tongue surveys Lucas’s mouth. He can’t stop the loud moan as Eliott grinds down, applying some much needed friction. “Jeans. Off.” Lucas manages in between kisses.
Lucas missed the feeling of being with Eliott. Sure, physically is amazing. There has always been a spark between. But also mentally. There are unsaid words that always pass between them as they have sex. Lucas thinks he knows what Eliott is trying to communicate this time.
“I love you,” Lucas moans in between thrusts.
Eliott nips at Lucas’s ear before replying lowly, “I love you so much, Lucas.”
By the end Lucas is practically screaming. Begging to come and be satisfied. Eliott complies and they both collapse in a sweaty heap.
Lucas allows himself a few minutes of watching his boyfriend. Watching his normal habits of licking his lips or biting his nails (when he thinks Lucas isn’t looking). Then there is the soothing touch of Eliott’s hand in his hair, rubbing circles on his scalp, which lulls Lucas to sleep.
He can’t wait to get up tomorrow to repeat their normal routine and see the sleeping face of the man he loves so much.
