collection of mildly funny chen related visuals that aren’t funny or detailed enough for an entire oneshot
ran buys chen a nintendo switch and within a month she’s already traded it off to tsukasa in exchange for whatever the gensokyo equivalent of a snickers bar is. yukari is absolutely fuming that there is now outside world technology somewhere circulating in gensokyo
chen is standing next to ran somewhere outside. ran turns a little too fast and her 500lb tails smash into chen at the speed of a baseball bat sending the bakeneko flying off into the sunset
chen randomly wants to try playing soccer so yukari forces several people in gensokyo to enroll their younger family/subordinates into a gensokyo soccer league so chen has teammates. all of the young’uns except koishi and chen hate it
ran, in a completely calm tone: “yukari please help chen is on fire”
chen being the catgirl she is kills Nazrin and leaves her corpse on the yakumo residence front doorstep. the only punishment she receives is being grounded for a week. yukari experiences months and months of stress due to byakuren now literally wanting the entire yakumo family dead
chen spends 3 hours explaining the skibidi toilet lore to ran and every single second of it ran grows less opposed to the idea of taking chen to the vet and getting her put down
the reason chen doesn’t have the yakumo family name is because yukari just doesn’t like her
chen and rin and mike have a gang where like half of their gimmick is just hating cirno’s gang. this beef is entirely one sided and cirno’s gang doesn’t even know chen’s exists
ran and yukari entrust ran to reimu as a babysitter while they go out and do something. the first thing chen asks when they return is “WHAT DOES FUCK MEAN” (heard from reimu)
chen screaming and crying as ran tries to bathe her
chen screaming and crying because yukari bought cucumbers
that aforementioned gang with the other two touhou cats get their paws on catnip and spend like 3 days having the most insane trip of their lives. yukari is convinced chen is dead
and to conclude, an out of context discord message i sent to w.d. gaster

Rivals or so they thought
─═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═
➼ Pairing - Luca Kaneshiro x GN!Vtuber Reader
➼ Content - Established relationship, Playful rivalry, fluff & hopefully half correct translations (I know Japanese, a little bit of Swedish and the others I'm still a beginner in but I'm learning so if something isn't translated right, I apologize, I tried my best~! English translations will be included :3)
➼ Ft. Ike Eveland, Ver Vermillion, Vezalius Bandage, Enna Alouette, Mika Melatika, Nina Kosaka and Reimu Endou
➼ ⚠️ Please remember I only write for the personas you see on your screen. I do not and will not write for the people behind the models. Please also remember that behind the models there are very real people with very real emotions. Please be respectful towards our beloved Nijisanji EN livers and do your best to separate the real people from the persona reflected on your screen. Thank you so much and enjoy the story ⚠️
➼ Summary - You debuted in Nijisanji as another mob boss. You were known as Luca's rival in your lore. Behind the scenes, your lore couldn't be more wrong. And it all comes out during one stream... ─═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═──═
Today was the day you debuted, you sat at your desk going through your slide show, letting the viewers get to know you;
" As you know from my lore, I am another mob boss. " You said with a smile looking at your character reference sheet before looking over at the chat;
Chat: ChairKun223: Luca's rival right? What's that like YVT/N?
You couldn't help but smile at the question, adjusting yourself in the chair you hummed softly thinking about a good response,
" I admire him, he and I are polar opposites. He's always smiles. I know when to be serious when it counts. He views his work as play. " You said trying to sound bitter. The image of your golden retriever like lover popped into your head and you had to fight back a fond smile to stay in character for your debut.
You spent the next hour going through the rest of the slide show and talking to chat. Finally ending, your door flung open and your chair was spun around before you were grabbed up off the chair and spun around in a tight hug;
" YOU WERE SO POG BABE! " The one and only Luca Kaneshiro beamed hugging you tight and spinning you around. Your laughs echoed in the room hugging him back.
Despite being rivals in your lore, you were the blond mafia boss's lover and you had been with him long before you debuted, hell you've been together long before HIS debut. He adored you and you adored him. It was hard not to, his puppy like personality and his sense of humor. You two just clicked. Of course your friends and co workers knew about your relationship with Luca and they fully supported you, you hadn't made your relationship public so neither the Lucubs or your community knew about you and Luca.
" Thank you my love! I could hear you watching my stream in the living room. " You said with a cheeky smile, causing him to blush ever so lightly. He set you back down on the floor and he place a soft loving kiss on your cheek.
" I wish we didn't have to hide our relationship! The Lucubs would be so happy that we're together! " Luca whined and grasped your shoulders shaking you lightly.
" I know, me too but gotta make the lore seem real ya goof. " You replied holding onto his wrists as he shook you lightly as not to hurt you.
The next year was full of so many fun collabs with Luca and other streamers. You always had so much fun with the other NIJI EN members. Spending time with them both on streams and outside of streams. You remembered being a simple viewer at one point, watching the NIJI EN talents and wishing you could do what they do and be apart of their world (Little mermaid reference XD ANYWAYS-). And not long after Luca introduced you to Tazumi san, you were given an opportunity to audition and be apart of NIJI EN which you jumped at right away. When you were accepted, Luca was over the moon. He couldn't stop talking about it for days and he even helped you get a model commission and helped you write your lore.
There came a day when you organized a goose goose duck collab, wanting to do another collab with language switch ups, You invited Ike, Ver, Vezalius, Enna, Mika, Nina and Reimu and Luca wanted to tag along and watch the game in VC, you being the sucker you are, agreed to let him sit in. And of course you assigned each a language, You would be sticking with Japanese, Ike had Swedish, Ver had Korean, Zali had French, Enna had Chinese, Mika had Indonesian, Nina had Russian and Reimu was given Spanish. Since you had watched the other collab the language switch up was used in, you knew this was about to get chaotic but you were also incredibly excited. Everything was set up and stream started;
" Alright~! Hello everyone! So as you can see, we're doing another goose goose duck stream with the language twist, so would everyone like to introduce themselves in the languages they were given? " You asked with a smile, Ver deciding to start out;
" Hi everyone, my name is Ver Vermillion, I'm speaking in Korean! 안녕하세요 여러분! 내 이름은 Ver Vermillion, 저는 한국어로 말하고 있습니다! (Hi everyone, my name is Ver Vermillion, I'm speaking in Korean!) "
Ike jumped in straight after Ver,
"Hello everyone, I am Ike Eveland, a Virtual Novelist from Nijisanji EN and part of Luxiem! And one more time, I am talking Swedish. Hej alla, jag är Ike Eveland, a virtuell romanförfattare från Nijisanji EN och en del av Luxiem! Och en gång till, jag är talar Svenska. (Hello everyone, I am Ike Eveland, a virtual novelist from Nijisanji EN and part of Luxiem! And one more time, I am talking Swedish.) "
Zali followed suit with his introduction,
" Hi, hi everyone! My name is Vezalius Bandgae or Zali and today I am speaking French! Salut, Salut tout le monde~! Mon nom est Vezalius Bandage ou Zali et aujourd’hui Je suis parlant français! (Hi, Hi everyone! My name is Vezalius Bandage or Zali and today I am speaking French!) "
Next was Nina,
" Hello, my name is Nina Kosaka. Russaian will be my language. Привет, Меня зовут Nina Kosaka. Русский будет быть мой язык ( Hello, my name is Nina Kosaka. Russian will be my language.) "
Then came Mika,
" My name is Mika Melatika. I speak Indonesian. Nama saya Mika Melatika. Saya berbicara Indonesia (My name is Mika Melatika. I speak Indonesian.) "
Enna chimed in,
" Hello, my name is Enna Alouette. I speak Mandarin Chinese. 你好, 我叫 Enna Alouette. 我说话 普通话 中文. (Hello, my name is Enna Alouette. I speak Mandarin Chinese.) "
Now Reimu jumped in,
" Hello my name is Reimu Endou~! I have been chosen to speak Spanish. Hola mi nombre es Reimu Endou~! He sido elegido para hablar español. (Hello my name is Reimu Endou~! I have been chosen to speak Spanish.) "
And finally you gave your introduction,
" Good morning everyone~! My name is YVT/N! I speak Japanese for this collaboration~! おはようございます 皆さん~! 私の名前は YVT/N! 私は日本語を話します 対して これ コラボ~! (Good morning everyone~! My name is YVT/N! I speak Japanese for this collaboration~!) "
And of course no line of introductions would be complete if Luca didn't chime in to introduce himself,
" HIIIIII GUYS! I'm Luca Kaneshiro! I am just gonna be spending some time in the VC while my game downloads and if it finishes before the collab is over, YVT/N said I could speak backwards so I'm not completely understood, POGGGGGGGGG!!! " He said happily causing the rest of the people in the collab to snicker at his enthusiasm.
" Right~! With introductions out of the way, let's get the first round started! Good luck everyone~! " You beamed as the game began.
And of course, as expected, it was complete chaos. There was zero understanding between anyone. You were walking around trying to find a task before stopping, seeing Enna and Nina having some sort of stand off but not understanding a word either woman was saying.
Within a few rounds, Luca finally was able to join into the fun. The new round started, You ran past Ver being chased yelling in Korean by Ike who was yelling in Swedish but of course you didn't understand what either of them were saying. Before running into Luca who was standing over a dead Enna,
" LUCA! 殺しましたか Enna!? (LUCA! Did you kill Enna?!) " You said backing away
" Tahw?! I nod't dnatsrednu tahw ruoy gniyas TVY/N! (What?! I don't understand what your saying YVT/N!) " Luca stammered out, barely able to get through a sentence.
Hearing Luca struggle at getting a sentence out backwards was enough to cause you to snicker,
" 体の上に立つ Luca! 他に誰が殺しただろう Enna?! (Your standing over a body Luca! Who else could have killed Enna?!) " You said quickly going to report Enna's body.
⚠️ EMERGENCY MEETING ⚠️
" 私は見つけた Luca 立っている Enna's 体! (I found Luca standing over Enna's body!) " You spoke out
" Nina jagade mig! (Nina was chasing me!) " Ike called out
" Мне показалось, что я вижу Ike убей кого-нибудь, чтобы я последовал за ним (I thought I saw Ike kill someone so I followed him) " Nina said trying to be heard over the wave of voices
You could see your chat going nuts over the complete chaos this collab was. No one could understand each other and communication was just dead in the water. As the round went on, people were voted out and in the end, the goose ended up winning and the goose turned out to be Ver. Back in the lobby, voices rung out and everyone was finally able to understand each other, everyone was laughing. Luca walked over to you and spoke,
" BABE! I TOLD YOU IT WASN'T ME THAT KILLED ENNA! " He yelled, faking being hurt
It took a second to realize what Luca had said but when it registered, you looked back to your chat.
Chat: Chairkun223: DID LUCA JUST CALL YVT/N BABE?! YVT/NSimp: OH MY GOD Luca'sJacket44: ARE THEY TOGETHER?! LucaxYVT/NOTP: AWWWH~!
Your jaw hit your desk and you couldn't help but nervous laugh,
" L...luca, we're still live. " you said, your eyes still glued on your chat
" What? What I say? " He asked before he looked at his own chat and realized his mistake.
Both chats were going wild with questions and people squealing over the fact that YVT/N and Luca were a couple. It took a few seconds before the others in the collab realized what happened since you and Luca had gone silent. The rest of the collab was filled with you and Luca trying to go the rest of the collab without looking at the chats, each time you ran into another person in the collab, you could only assume they were teasing you since you couldn't understand a word being said.
The end of the collab came, everyone said their goodbyes and you said goodbye to chat, Luca ran in and hugged you apologizing for outting the relationship during the collab and of course you reassured him that it was okay.
From then on, Luca made sure he was incredibly loving even in streams, he was shameless in letting chat know how amazing he thought you were and how much he loved you.

LES FOISFOIS FAVORITE SONG FROM EACH TOUHOU SOUNDTRACK
th01 highly responsive to prayers: gotta be eternal shrine maiden. angel’s legend is good, but eternal shrine maiden just has what the PC-98’s soundboard did best. little beeps and boops that somehow sound so chock-full of emotion. fantastic stuff.
th02 story of eastern wonderland: love-colored magic is, of course, legendary, but my favorite for this game is complete darkness. absolutely masterfully work with that melody.
th03 phantasmagoria of dim.dream: obligatory respects to strawberry crisis to make sure i don’t get mauled for saying this, but reincarnation is my personal favorite off this soundtrack. there isn’t really a place to note this, but the SC-8850 version of reincarnation is fucking phenomenal, too.
th04 lotus land story: blah blah blah bad apple okay no but seriously it’s maiden’s capriccio. that’s reimu’s theme. i don’t care about this mystic oriental love consultation shit, this spring path crap. maiden’s capriccio. the imperishable night version fucks hard too.
th05 mystic square: this one is really hard. romantic children rules. plastic mind is unreal. the grimoire of alice fucks. but the best one in my opinion is alice in wonderland. extra stage themes tend to be really good, but i looooooove this one.
th06 embodiment of scarlet devil: locked girl ~ the girl’s sealed room. again being a contrarian here and not picking UN owen was her. cuz. i dunno. i like it.. be nice to me.. side note, but i love how the instruments in eosd and dolls in pseudo paradise sound.. idk, out of tune? it’s nice.
th07 perfect cherry blossom: there are a lot of really good ones here but i’d be lying if i said it wasn’t necrofantasia, contrarian though i may usually be.
th08 imperishable night: i don’t knowwww this one’s too hard they’re all so good.. illusionary night ~ ghostly eyes, nostalgic blood of the east ~ old world, flight of the bamboo cutter ~ lunatic princess, and extend ash ~ person of hourai all come to mind, but honestly i think i have to give it to love-colored master spark. i know it’s not “from” this game but it’s my favorite on the soundtrack, sooooo.. whatever. my list.
th09 phantasmagoria of flower view: wind god girl. “that’s from shoot the bullet” i knowwww shut upppp i’m not doing side games.
th10 mountain of faith: faith is for the transient people, full stop. the gensokyo the gods loved is practically the “touhou theme” to me, but sanae’s theme is like. in my top 3 favorite songs in the series. those guitars kick ass. this game’s soundtrack is phenomenal.
th11 subterranean animism: green-eyed jealousy. followed closely by satori maiden ~ 3rd eye. literally every song on this game’s soundtrack is a banger. a real no-skip album. but i am fucking addicted to parsee’s theme. it’s like bitter, ugly crying as music. i can’t sing its praises enough.
th12 undefined fantastic object: this game sucks ass but the music’s good. emotional skyscraper ~ cosmic mind is the best song.
th13 ten desires: it’s shoutoku legend ~ true administrator, but i wanna give a shout-out to night sakura of dead spirits anyway, because it’s great.
th14 double dealing character: kobito of the shining needle ~ little princess. but i mean. i am kissing reverse ideology on the mouth with tongue. i love you seija i love you shimmy you’ll get ‘em next time
th15 legacy of lunatic kingdom: honestly? unforgettable, the nostalgic greenery. i love the spacey sound of this soundtrack, and none of them capture that sound better than that. the lake reflects the cleansed moonlight is good for the same reason. i have a lot of love for the sea that reflects one’s home planet, too.
th16 hidden star in four seasons: not huge on this soundtrack, but my favorite song is swim in a cherry blossom-colored sea.
th17 wily beast and weakest creature: electric heritage. what a tasty piano in this one. the gorgeous melody is also present in entrust this world to idols ~ idolatrize world, but i like the piano in electric heritage better. idolatrize world is an easy second, though.
th18 unconnected marketeers: this soundtrack is so romantic. very lovely melodies. my favorite is the perpetual snow of komakusa blossoms. it’s memorable to me for whatever reason.
th19 unfinished dream of all living ghost: i’m gonna choose to limit myself to the songs that aren’t covers of existing touhou songs, cuz some of them are pretty similar even if i might like them “more”, like corpse voyage ~ be of good cheer. so i’ll go with the deviants’ unobstructed light ~ kingdom of nothingness. the vocal samples are cool.
i’ll list my favorite songs from the doujin albums in a separate reblog, because damn this is getting long!!

… loading 「 internet romance 」
「 lucifer 」 -> vox akuma
偉いね偉いねご苦労様 ( well done, thank you for your hard work ) -> lucifer。¿? shimon
characters: vox akuma
summary: falling in love with vox akuma over discord.
word count: 1.0k words
content: fluff
a/n: part of my 「 internet romance 」 collection (*´∇`*) sorry it took so long for release !!!
it wasn’t like you were nervous or anything, but it was always a little nerve-wracking to experience something new for the first time. it’d been a while since you were introduced to the wonderful world of nijisanji, and it was about goddamn time you joined a fan server to meet other fans like yourself.
a spur of fans welcomed you with the discord welcome function. you grinned to yourself, replying back with semi-enthusiastic “hello!”s as not to seem too overexcited.
server daddy: welcome to the server~ we’re elated to have you here 🫶
millayyyy: stop being cringe 😬
server daddy: you’re just jealous you have negative rizz
ennaurrrr: the only person with negative rizz is mfing reimu endou
petra’s wife: stfu fucking enna alouette you literally hate me im not even part of this conversation
ennaurrr: yet you’re here ???
petra’s wife: 🫵 you're 😩 literally 🤢 horrible
server mom: calm down honeys you’re going to scare the new member 🫠
server daddy: okay calm the fuck down, let me talk to the newbie
you: 😃
you laughed to yourself as the group kept bickering in main-chat. it seemed slightly strange, but hilarious nonetheless.
were people in the nijisanji community this wild?
as the person supposedly ‘enna’ bickered with someone called ‘reimu’, server daddy himself, albeit his server nickname, sent you a dm.
his username was actually vox akuma, so vox was probably his name.
vox: sorry about them, they’re always unhinged.
you: it’s nothing !!! they’re super funny, and it just means they really cherish each other.
vox: wow, i don’t know if you’re seeing things or just really optimistic
you: it’s how i roll ✌️ no way you’re one of those gloomy types tho ???
vox: there’s a difference between gloomy and sexy/angsty.
you: is that what you’re going for 😃
vox: :)
you: okay, sexy/angsty, teach me how to have w rizz, if you have it (supposedly)
vox: are you doubting my rizz right now?
you: 🤡 maybe
vox: alright, i’ll give a rizz demonstration. hop on vc with me right now.
albeit a little skeptical at what was about to happen, the adrenaline and excitement from your hilarious conversation with vox fueled your urge to accept his call.
the first thing you heard when you got on the call was the smoothest voice you’d heard in your lifetime.
“well, hello there, darling.”
you were definitely, totally, only slightly taken aback. blushing from your head to your toes, at least that’s how it felt, you muttered a small “hello”, to which you received a hearty laugh as a response.
“told you my rizz was phenomenal.”
“your rizz is literally lowering by the second i don’t even know what you’re talking about.” you laughed, the self-confidence in his statement throwing you off.
“sure darling, sure. and where’s your rizz?”
“me?” you questioned, and he “mhm”ed for you to continue.
“well, babe,” you dropped your voice by an octave, attempting to sound swag, before bursting into a fit of giggles after vox snorted when hearing your voice.
“you are hilarious, i mean it. and adorable, at that.” he said, and the words came out of his mouth with such warmth you could imagine the smile on his face.
as the conversation continued throughout the night, you found out that somehow, you and vox had a lot of the same interests, talking for hours on end, and it happened the next day, and the next, and the next.
vox could feel himself sinking into what seemed like honey, sweet and sucking him in, keeping his heart fluttering in his chest incessantly. he knew it was stupid, to fall in so deeply with someone he’d just met, on discord, too. but it was the way you two clicked, the same conversations on the tips of your tongues and the sound of your laugh.
he was utterly enamoured with you. he groaned as he leaned back in his chair, always confused as to what to label your relationship. he’d done his best to try to push your relationship forward, but he was still unclear on what you thought due to the flirty nature of your relationship. were you serious? were you not? it flustered him.
he couldn’t take it anymore. you’d usually be on call with him already at this time, but something was probably holding you up. he pulled out his phone to send you a message.
vox: darling, are you home yet?
you: you make us sound like we’re married 😭
vox: do you not want to be married to me? 👁️
you: that’s not what i mean !!!
vox: then what do you mean
you: i’m getting home soon, i’ll call you to talk about it 🫶
the last heart at the end of ur message sent his mind into a flurry. what did you even mean by that? you were truly adorable, and there was nothing he could do to suppress the feelings that bubbled up in his chest.
about half an hour later, your call arrived, and he promptly accepted.
“vox?”
“hello. the trip home was nice?”
“yeah! but… i wanted to just talk about us.” you said.
your unsure tone frightened him just a little bit. and with his heart beating wildly out of his chest, he gathered the courage to open his mouth and speak.
“you know, y/n, really, i—”
“i like you.”
and with that, vox stood still for a moment, processing your words in his head. you just said that you liked him. his heart pounded even more erratically, but somehow he regained his calm.
“gosh, darling, you beat me to the punch. i wanted to say that first.” vox mused.
your flustered laugh resonating from the other end of the call only made him fall for you more.

Touhou Fangame Concept:
Western Science Interrogating Wonder(title could be workshopped)
The bit is that a bunch of greek philosophers have washed up on this side of the Hakurei Barrier, after the Yama assigned to their collective case(which has gone on for thousands of years) decided that it wasn't worth trying to continue to argue with them kicked them out of the afterlife in frustration. And so you, local Hakurei Shrine Maiden, are set to clean up the mess. By Yukari.
Your first encounter is, after having been drawn to a ruckus going on in the Human Village, being interrogated by a short, grumpy woman in greek looking clothing, and a dunce cap with a sprig of hemlock pinned to it. After defeating her in a danmaku battle that mostly consists of her criticizing you and interrogating your faith, your justifications for your actions, your sense of personal morality, your fashion sense, and if you lose your skill in danmaku. After you beat her she then introduces herself as Socrates, clarifies she puts the dunce cap on herself, and follows Reimu around for the rest of the game to provide commentary.
Your next encounter is a slovenly doggirl with floppy ears in a dirty tunic, who gets out of her barrel to spit in your face after she identifies you as a local religious figure. Reimu then decides to beat the tar out of her. Her mid-battle dialogue consists of complaining about you in particular. After the fight, she gets stuffed back into her barrel and rolled out of town. You get her name from Socrates after the fact, that being Diogenes, who assures Reimu that she's always like this.
Interrogating a nearby villager points you in the direction of the next philosopher, Pythagoras. She's wearing a golden wreath, trousers, and the kind of smile that makes you want to wipe if off. She (flirtatiously)asks if Reimu wants to join her following, expounding upon both her own virtues and the virtue of her teachings. Her spell cards are themed around various legends from Pythagoras's life, like an arrow gifted by Apollo, a bear convinced to never again harm a living being, and that one time they supposedly descended to the underworld and came back. Her danmaku projectiles are specifically rotating triangles. Notably after you defeat her she's still trying to proposition Reimu, even if she's given up on recruitment.
Moving on you find a very tall, broad, woman with a great deal of jewelry(no idea on an appropriate hat) speaking with Keine, and then after having her identified as Plato(another philosopher) by Socrates Reimu proceeds to beat the tar out of her. Her Spell Cards are themed mostly around the Theory of Forms, and defeating her reveals that she was teaching Keine about platonic philosophy with the intent to integrate it into her school's curriculum.
There's this whole bit where Reimu explains how teaching humans to interrogate the world around them like that would just repeat the course of the outside world, and that that would lead to an escalation of conflict between humans and Yokai to maintain the existing balance and preserve Gensokyo. So, very dangerous and likely to lead to a lot of violence. Turning Keine away from all of Plato's ideas. Socrates is being her usual self during all of this and keeps interjecting with interrogative questions and asking why why why before getting a seal slapped over her mouth to shut her up. But not before mentioning that if you're trying to stop the spread of "logic" and "common sense" you should really be going after Aristotle.
So off the shrine maiden goes and indeed, she manages to track where her next target is by a seeming aura of sensibility and "reality". Reimu needs to float outside the boundaries of common sense to keep moving forward, and eventually she encounters a woman in noble ancient greek dress outside the village, talking to a crowd of villagers who were previously working the fields. After beating her in a fight and having it explained to them that they were being lied to by a malicious yokai, things start going back to normal and balance is preserved. Yukari pops in to scoop up the unconscious Aristotle and points you in the direction of the last remaining disruption, while Socrates laughs at and mocks her fellow philosopher for being so confident in her understanding of the world around her because of things like "logic" and "reasoning" and "observation".
The last boss of the Incident is a second fight with Diogenes, who's gotten group of villagers to listen to her about how being human is overrated, and that they'd do well to stop caring about pretense and belief and live like dogs. Effectively the opposite problem presented by Aristotle. It's shown that she originally wasn't even trying during the first fight, and now that Reimu is actually trying to stop her from speaking she actually fights back.
After the fight, you get an epilogue where Yukari asks Reimu about her impression of them all, and eventually decides that they can be permitted to stay now that they've all been shown to be mad, and Socrates' constant insistence that you truly know nothing is more helpful to the preservation of belief than it is harmful. So the lot of them are allowed to set up a school a ways outside the human village, which nobody seriously attends. Partly because of their bad reputation, partly because they're always arguing, and partly because none of them can deliver a straight answer to any question.
Mechanically it's part visual novel and part boss rush, as the setting of the human village doesn't really lend itself to stages full of mooks trying to stop you. And of course there are some design concepts that could be workshopped if this would ever be seriously made. As it stands it's just a fun idea to rotate in your head and laugh about.
really good idea but i especially love the idea that after you beat all these fucking transgenderised clowns they're allowed to stay because if there's two things that the ancient greek philosophers were it was completely wrong and completely deranged

re: arcs in touhou
this is a personal way of packaging the events of touhou for convenience. literature not explicitly mentioned, I'd place in the corresponding release chronology.
1. PC-98
We all now by now that pc-98 canon is deemed mostly canon unless contradicted. It is also quite outdated and left for much of interpretation. Either way.
- Reiiden, (The) Highly Responsive to Prayers. What do we know? Reimu can seriously kick some ass. Also, joyful spherical creature.
- Fuumaroku, (the) Story of Eastern Wonderland. What do we have? Mima was apparently unsealed from Hell, and it's established that the Hakurei is famous for better or worse. Moreover the "true powers" of the orbs are quite curious.
- Yumejikuu, (The) Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream. What do we have? Professor Yumemi Okazaki from a world that resembles the foundation of the Hifuuture. Also some insight into the whimsy of this world.
- Gensoukyou, Lotus Land Story. There isn't that much other than the name (!!!), Yuuka, and the existence of a dream world.
- Kaikidan, Mystic Square. There is once again not that much lore other than Makai having more of a structure and Alice appearing for the first time. Perhaps the mention that Yuuka doesn't use magic is of vague interest (and so would be Mima's words about being a god if she hadn't disappeared).
2. Spellcard Arc
Immediately following the Vampire Incident (which in and of itself is quite interesting for a variety of reasons) we get to watch as Gensokyo becomes used to this new system. This is an arc for Exposition.
- Koumakyou, (the) Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. We get it, Remilia wants to show off. We are introduced to Patchouli and Flandre, who are for now important to the lore.
- Youyoumu, Perfect Cherry Blossom. Of importance, we expand upon the fact that Gensokyo has History and that it has Connections to other worlds, at least one of which seems to be manageable by Yukari Yakumo (whom we also meet here and we get some interesting interactions with Reimu). We also see Alice again, and this implies a possible connection to Makai somewhere.
- Suimusou, Immaterial and Missing Power. We meet Suika, who has a great deal of importance as an oni, as Yukari's friend, and as one of the four that once controlled the mountain.
- Eiyashou, Imperishable Night. Oh, where to even start. We get more insight on Yukari through Stage 3, we learn of the Human Village (protected by a hakutaku, mind you), we learn about the Lunarians, and we learn about Mokou. This is Chekhov's gun, I dare say.
- Kaeizuka, Phantasmagoria of Flower View. Clearly there's not really a Major Incident per se, but we do get insight on Reimu's duties, the nature of Gensokyo, how Yuuka has become relatively quiet, and we get insight from Yukari through Seasonal Dream Vision.
- Bunkachou, Shoot the Bullet. Here, I'd also place the literature of this era as more exposition with fun bits of lore.
- Hourai Doll ~ Dolls in Pseudo Paradise, Night Trip to Rendaino ~ Ghostly Field Club, Changing Dreams in the Age of Science ~ Changeability of Strange Dream, East-West Tokaido ~ Retrospective 53 Minutes, and Celestial Wizardry ~ Magical Astronomy. Boy oh boy do we have a fun ride learning about the Hifuuture and our dear protagonists, Maeriberii "Maribel" "Merry" Hearn and Renko Usami. This is of great importance for Yukari and Gensokyo lore later on, plus it's a good segue into the more philosophical arc next.
(yes I know DiPP isn't strictly Hifuu but!)
3. Religious Arc
- Bougetsushou. This expands on Lunarian lore, which is especially important when we try to understand Yukari Yakumo and Gensokyo, and it complements well the established setting in the first half of Hifuu. We also get insight on Patchouli's magic-science unification, more on religious setting (as seen in Yorihime and maybe Yuyuko loopholeing the concept of purity), and more on History such as Mokou's past and Eirin's growth.
- Fuujinroku, Mountain of Faith. Well, other than welcoming a more divine side into Touhou, we establish properly the dynamics of the Youkai Mountain, especially the tengu's presence. Moreover, we meet Kanako and Suwako, who are living proof of gensokyo's concept of adaptation and self-definition, as well as of gensokyo's sustainable balance. Sanae is also a good way to expand on the relationship with the Outside World.
- Hisouten, Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. We are introduced to Tenshi and the philosophy of the Celestials, and also we see Yukari having a bit of an obvious interest in keeping the shrine as is.
- Chireiden, Subterranean Animism. We learn about Former Hell, continue to see Yukari and Suika being suspiciously helpful, meet Yuugi, and continue the trainwreck caused by Kanako's arrival.
- Seirensen, Undefined Fantastic Object. Makai returns! Byakuren is here! With her arrival, the Trainwreck continues, there is a vague connection to the Blood Pools via Murasa, and we get to see the side of mythology about humans and youkai (as seen with Byakuren's approach to it, and Ichirin existing).
- Hisoutensoku, Unthinkable Natural Law; Bunkachou, Double Spoiler; Sangetsusei, Great Fairy Wars. Naturally, we must see Gensokyo adapting to it's new state of affairs as things change and forces tug at it.
- Shinreibyou, Ten Desires. Much more lore regarding History and self-definition as seen in Miko; also, we meet Mamizou, who can somewhat play with the Hakurei Barrier.
- Shinkirou, Hopeless Masquerade. The Trainwreck comes to a close as Kokoro puts an end to the religious wars. This event (by which I mean a tsukumogami and a satori accidentally solving everything with some nudges along the way) show the way Gensokyo works: nothing truly Bad can happen to it.
- Suzunaan, Forbidden Scrollery. This further shows that there are forces at play which ensure the balance of Gensokyo. More on that in other official literature.
4. Gensokyo Arc
We are back to seeing the nature of this fantasy land through a much larger scope. Gensokyo has been established as a setting and as a concept, so now we get to see it in full action.
- Ruins of Torifune ~ Trojan Green Asteroid, Izanagi Object ~ Neo-traditionalism of Japan, Swallow stone Naturalis Historia ~ Dr. Latency's Freak Report, Old Testament Tavern ~ Dateless Bar "Old Adam". What a better way to start this era than through the moment in Hifuu where the Renko-Merry dynamic takes a turn, and Merry's true colors start to show more clearly?
- Kishinjou, Double Dealing Character. An independent incident, really; we are given a refreshment as to what a Gensokyo Incident feels like. No intervention from any other worlds, simply put. It's quickly resolved, as expected, and even quicker does the world adapt. (Insert ISC here).
- Shinpiroku, Urban Legend in Limbo. Much to discuss! From a new Outsider in the form of Sumireko Usami, to the scale that an incident can reach when there are other worlds at play! Especially, the Moon and an Outside World that ever so slightly drifts from what Sanae knew and into what Merry will know. Also, we get a proper game appearance for Kasen, which means...
- Ibarakasen, Wild and Horned Hermit. Sure, the story began much earlier, but it's worth nothing a few things here and now, such as the insight we get on being a hermit, a sage, and an oni all from the same person: Kasen, another prime example of self-definition. Also, a fun little peek at Hell and Heaven.
- Kanjuden, Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom. Well, among many other things, this brings us Hecatia, who offers good insight on the dynamic of connected worlds, which we have been seeing quite a lot of; as well as a comparison between the rigid Lunarian culture, the unique lawlessness of Hell, and the adaptable Gensokyo.
- Hyouibana, Antimony of Common Flowers. Well, with this incident we get to see more of Kasen and Yukari's current dynamic, their relation to Reimu, and two very important points shown through the Yorigamis: anyone can cause an incident (which, we kinda already knew, but bear with me), and the Dream World takes importance. Tenshi can freely desire to reshape the world into something better (albeit through odd means), is that not reminiscent of Reimu's desire?
- Tenkuushou, Hidden Star in Four Seasons. What was that about anyone crafting an incident? Oh yeah, another sage appears, and makes incision on the nature of Gensokyo. There is also, albeit not as directly, insight into self-definition in Okina, who embodies so many concepts.
- Hifuu Nightmare Diary, Violet Detector. More Sumireko shenanigans that showcase the adaptability of Gensokyo and the meddling of the sages when things are tricky. Moreover, the importance of the Dream World for Gensokyo is highlighted: both in universe, as the Yukaribel story grows, and out of universe, for the very conception of Gensoukyou involved a dream world.
- Kikeijuu, Wily Beast and Weakest Creature. Woop woop, there's no time to keep musing about sages and dreams, Hell is here! Is this a consequence of Hecatia and Okina's quarrel? No, it was actually the Beasts. However, we do get to see a curious phenomenon involving Keiki and the human spirits.
- Gouyoku Ibun, Submerged Hell of Sunken Sorrow. Once again, the sages meddle when things are tricky. There's also something to be said about their wisdom - are they not very clever with Flandre's power? They must've quickly learnt in order to devise such a plan - Kasen learnt to solve the Urban Legend Incident, Yukari learnt to solve the Perfect Possession Incident, surely Okina can do the same. And yet... perhaps, and just perhaps, the knowledge was always there. The Vampire Incident was long ago, and Gensokyo is fundamentally an accepting place. Had they wanted to, they could've kicked the Scarlets out, and yet. This is how they built Gensokyo. This is how they work with it. But let's move on - more Beast lore, and we utilize obscure mythology to our advantage.
This, we have already seen. Vampire lore is not exactly commonplace, so they didn't know how to deal with them. Oni lore was forgotten, therefore Suika and Kasen were tricky to deal with. The sages are masters of self-definition through their mythology. The entirety of shinpiroku and hyouibana was based on working with the mythology of the incident. More on this later.
- Kouryuudou, Unconnected Marketeers. Another instance of "anyone can create an incident if they try hard enough," of "redefining oneself" with Chimata and not too unlike what Kanako herself showed, and of Reimu finding more about her own power.
- Bulletphilia-tachi no Yami-Ichiba, 100th Black Market. Whimsical instance of Gensokyo adapts. Somehow, it always does, for better or worse.
- Juuouen, Unfinished Dream of All Living Ghost. Whuh-oh! This was the for worse! Now, the beast incident brewing in the background crashes into the ever fluctuating Gensokyo. Thankfully, even the other worlds have their own measures to remain stable, just like Gensokyo does. This means both through the dutiful shrine maiden and through this strange innate balance (Aunn saves the day! Okina will surely claim it was all according to plan). Everything passes.
5. The Future.
Who knows? Predicting touhou is famously not the best of ideas. However, I'm confident there will be constants: this is a place to determine oneself, and this is a place that will persevere.
On a more specific note, I imagine that Chireikiden, Cheating Detective Satori will bring an interesting plot, whether it be a conclusion to the arc or the beginning of a new one. We recently tackled Hell, so it may be the former option.
It seems to be shaping up a lore reveal regarding the Hakurei and Gensokyo's creation. Perhaps, there will be more on its connection to other worlds, specifically the dream world. The importance of change. The nature of the shrine. The balance established by the sages, of those who embrace otherness as seen in Hifuu, in DiPP, in Forbidden Scrollery.

I'm about a week and a half into Violet Detector. I'm so bad at teleporting.
Anyway, I'd like to just talk about Sumireko a bit. Back in Urban Legend in Limbo she was cocky. She had this superiority complex and thinks she's hot shit, but she gets a big reality check from Gensokyo. (Which is kinda funny considering Gensokyo is literally Fantasy world). When playing through Sumireko's story, she's running from one youkai to the next. She's "winning" the fights, but none of the opponents (besides Shinmyoumaru, ya hate to see it) seem to actually lose since she has to run away from them. The goal is to scare her after all, not actually kill her. (Side note: Losing to Shimmy implies that she's actually going to kill Sumireko, which is very funny)
By the end of all of it she's able to briefly escape back to the Outside World, but it's temporary. She will be pulled back in and as far as she knows, one of those youkai might actually kill her (she doesn't know Reimu was going to protect her once she gets pulled back).
Now that she knows she has no control over the situation she decides to go nuclear. She'll unleash the full power occult balls to become the literal key to Gensokyo's barrier. She has fully resigned herself to her death by youkai, but she will at least have achieved her goal.
Perhaps she was lost in her own theatrics, but Sumireko gave up here. If the situation played out like she thought it would, she would have achieved her goal without seeing it through. Her cocky attitude was gone. She didn't refer to herself as some important girl with psychic magical powers. She's just some highschool girl who was way in over her head.
I go over all this because it's a bit clear through her own actions that despite how she presents herself to others, Sumireko does not place herself as important. Her superiority complex is a complete front. Its a display of what she wants to be, but she doesn't believe she can be it. This is a trope that chuunibyou characters tend to have, but Sumireko's case is an interesting one. She is a special person, those esper powers are legit. Her delusions aren't necessarily fake, but to the rest of the world around her, it is.
That's her real issue, she's just a lonely kid. She tries to use her experiences in Gensokyo for clout, but it's an unsatisfying endeavor. Clout doesn't necessarily net you any friends or close relationships. Plus, it's not like anyone is going to believe her. As far as the Outside World is concerned, Gensokyo isn't real. Luckily for her, she has been able to become friends with several of Gensokyo's residents. She may not belong in Gensokyo, but the people there accept her and appreciate her for who she is.
So, this all comes to a head in Violet Detector. The events of this game (so far) are very reminiscent to her chapter in Urban Legend in Limbo. She's stuck in the dream world and everyone is attacking her. It's like she's fighting for her life all over again. To make it worse, Doremy tells her that it doesn't matter if she ends up dying in the Dream World since Sumireko's dream self will just wake up in the real world and it will be as if nothing happened.
Sumireko is functionally worthless in the dream world. Her death would serve nothing. Yet, when faced with a reality where she holds no value, Sumireko gets motivated. She resolves to fight back.
This is not the Sumireko from Urban Legend in Limbo that would have just let life run its course on her. Her self confidence isn't a front, she is earnestly deciding to struggle against the odds with her own power.
I really appreciate this character development. Gensokyo was harsh to her at first, but it showed her the value that she has in the world around her. Sumireko is something to fight for.
Well, that's enough rambling about Sumireko. I haven't even beat the game so I don't know how this ends. I just like her dialogue with Doremy and wanted to talk about it. Sumireko's perspective on Gensokyo (and the Dream World) is very interesting.

If you could watch Reimu and Marisa do any random mundane thing in the outside world what would it be?
👁️ would it even be mundane if I got to encounter both of them in the outside world??
for real though, it is kind of a tough one, however, I think I’d go with seeing them on a shopping trip. not even anything fancy either, just your normal weekly trip to the supermarket. I can imagine that reimu would hate it and get mildly overstimulated, whilst marisa keeps trying to help calm her down, but gets distracted by random stuff and adding things that they don’t need to the basket. I don’t think they’d ever get into a quarrel over it though, certainly not one that marisa wouldn’t just win, so reimu would be stuck having to eat cereal (or whatever random thing that marisa brought lots of) for the next week.

I love you...no matter what // Meloco Kyoran x fem reader
Tumblr media
The soft glow of the computer screen illuminated Y/N's face as she sat in her room, streaming with Elira, Luca, and Reimu. The chat was buzzing with excitement as fans tuned in to watch the members of "Xsoleil" sing and chat. Y/N had been enjoying the stream, her laughter and smiles infectious, but little did the audience know that she had a secret.
In a quiet corner of the virtual world, Meloco Kyoran watched the stream, her heart aching. She was supposed to be there, next to Y/N, sharing jokes and laughter. But life had a way of throwing curveballs, and Meloco had been pulled into an unexpected meeting with her manager, leaving Y/N alone on the stream.
As the minutes turned into hours, Y/N excused herself from the stream. She knew her fans were understanding, but it still pained her to leave her friends behind. On the other side of the call, Y/N's voice was apologetic as she explained the situation. Meloco couldn't help but sigh, feeling a pang of jealousy towards that unseen family business.
"I'm so sorry, guys. I promise I'll make it up to you later," Y/N said, her voice laced with regret.
Elira, Luca, and Reimu nodded understandingly, reassuring her that everything was okay. But Y/N couldn't shake the disappointment in her heart as she ended the call.
After a few hours, the family business matter was resolved, and Y/N finally had a chance to breathe. She decided to call Meloco, who had been on her mind the whole time. She dialed Meloco's number and waited anxiously for her to pick up.
"Hello?" Meloco's voice came through the line, and Y/N's heart skipped a beat.
"Hey, Melo," Y/N replied, trying to sound casual despite her longing.
"Y/N! I missed you," Meloco confessed, her voice soft and filled with warmth.
Y/N smiled on the other end of the call, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "I missed you too, Melo. I hate it when we're apart like this."
"Me too," Meloco admitted. "But hey, I have a surprise for you."
Y/N's curiosity piqued. "A surprise? What is it?"
"I recorded a song while you were away," Meloco said. "I want you to be the first one to hear it."
Tears welled up in Y/N's eyes as she listened to Meloco's beautiful voice serenading her through the phone. The lyrics were filled with love and longing, and Y/N could feel the depth of Meloco's emotions in every note.
As the song ended, Y/N was at a loss for words. Her heart was overflowing with love for Meloco, and she knew it was time to confess.
"Melo, I love you," Y/N said, her voice trembling with emotion.
There was a brief silence on the other end of the call, and Y/N feared that she had said too much too soon. But then, she heard Meloco's gentle laughter.
"I love you too, Y/N," Meloco replied, her voice filled with happiness. "I've loved you for a long time."
Tears of joy streamed down Y/N's face as she realized that their love had always been there, unspoken but deeply felt. They spent the rest of the night on the phone, sharing their dreams and hopes for the future, knowing that their love was real and unbreakable.
And as the night turned into dawn, Y/N knew that even though they were apart, their love would always keep them connected, no matter the distance.

hi! why do you like LLS and Gengetsu so much? ^^
Okay so! I've already answered the question about the character of gengetsu in this tumblr post and this youtube video which yeah go check them out if you want to discover her and learn more about her personality, lore, behind the scenes design choices etc!
But if i were to answer this post, without paraphrasing anything ive said about her ? I'll have to talk about myself and the person i am, not her, to answer you properly.
We're about to get sad real fast this is an extremely vulnerable moment for me but everything about what makes gengetsu special to me IS vulnerable (which is why i never talked about it before but nows the time methinks)
1 - I'm also very reclusive and a bit of a dreamer
Dreams always are fascinating to me. Ever since i was small i'd get so caught up in my imagination i'd forget about the world around me. To extreme extents, may i add. Tripping over myself or running into poles may seem like exaggeration but it's not, i legitimately got sent to the nurse's multiple times because of it. My parents would get called to the teacher's office every year without fail because "nocti isn't there in class. Her mind isn't there at all, we're concerned about how well she'll perform". I did perform good, for some magical reason! But i was barely there. My mind is also very active at night. i tend to remember most of my dreams, which are all memorable in some kind of way. I always get excited to find out what i'll get to see when i'm going to sleep. I consider this some kind of entertainment! Sometimes I'll get dreamless nights, yes, and i wake up disappointed and just hope for better programming the next time i sleep. And the secluded dream world aspect, the whole "this is my place just for me" thing she has with Mugetsu also overlaps with what makes Flandre special to me, by the way. I'm also a little bit of a shut in and i like to bury myself into a pile of stuffed animals that take three quarters of the space on my bed, i have fairy lights, i like to be comfy. it's my little safe bubble. If you've seen my plush unboxing videos, like the custom gengetsu and the clownpiece i have, you'll know what my safe haven looks like! It's nice to put myself on my bed with my cat, burrowed under blankets and stuffed animals, and let my mind peacefully wander wherever it wants to. But yeah! This makes her being a dream denizen and the close knit purpose of her dream world really cool to me!
2- I have a similar personality.
I'm a little naive, believe it or not! It's probably another reason why i don't open up like this very often. You could tell me most things and i'd probably take them at face value. I'm just a little clueless. I'm curious, I'm cheerful, a little chaotic sometimes, well, if you follow me and my content you probably are aware of all that. I'm quick to protect the ones i care about. I'm usually the one who takes care of bad eggs in my friend circles. I'm not very confrontational, but when it comes to it, i'm somehow good at it…? But did you know at the same time i'm a HUGE crybaby? … I should not tell you this. WHY am i telling you this. ever since i was small i was always prone to the Weeeeeehhhhhh it's not faiiiiiir weeeeeh. It's not a bratty "things arent going my way" kind of WEEEH it's always been a "i am being wronged and i don't have the inner cool to express it" kind of WEEEH. But it WAS excessive. All it'd take was for my childhood friend (love you bestie btw) to get tiger face paint on and tell me she was gonna eat me for me to think it was real and start wailing. You know who else breaks into a frustration tantrum when you defeat her after lotus land story? You know, the stage where she hasn't done a single thing wrong to warrant reimu and marisa's intervention? YEAH.
3 - I, too, am an older sister.
This is probably the most central aspect that draws me to her, positive sisterhood is my favorite trope because it calls back to how I once was. I am the first born of my family, and i have four younger siblings, my uncles had children of their own which amounts to four little cousins. Counting me, thats nine children. I was between the ages of 3 and 13 when they were all born. I was always quick to get attached to them, I'd always show them cool older kid stuffs like showing my megabloks dragons collection to my infant brother who could not even sit yet. I gave it my all. And that applied outside of my family too i was everyones government assigned big sister as soon as i became verbal. We have vhs footage of 5 year old me at my mom's lord of the rings stage play (2003) cheering up a crying kid from my group because she had stage fright. I ripped that digitally for preservation so maybe one day i'll show you some bits of that it was neat.
Sadly it didnt last long and ive lost contact with two siblings and three cousins, because of adults taking sides in major arguments for good. I'll never see them again. I guess if you really wanna psychanalyze me there, little Gengetsu here resonates with my memories of before bonds began to shatter, you know?
The family kinship she has with Mugetsu is everything I wished I could've strived for but due to reasons outside of my control it never came to be, so that's why she's so special. She reminds me of the little nocti who still had her heart full.
---
Thanks for reading! I hope you, too, have a character that's just as special to you. Tell me in the tags who's the character that resonates with you! Oh! And if you're a fan of the twins too, let's be friends, yeah?

Sumireko Usami, Part 2:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Touhou 15.5: Antinomy of Common Flowers, Sumireko tries to go to Gensokyo in her dreams as usual, but finds herself trapped in the Dream World! Doremy Sweet appears, and reveals she trapped Sumireko in the Dream World for her own safety: as the nature of Perfect Possession involves someone's Dream World counterpart being pushed out into the real world, it might cause issues with Sumireko's unique condition. As it turns out, this condition has kept the Dream World Sumireko trapped and incapable of doing anything, which has resulted in her developing quite the grudge against her real self.
Suddenly, Yukari Yakumo gaps Sumireko out of the Dream World and sends her to the Outside World, where Sumireko finds her Dream World counterpart is there too... along with another Sumireko! The three duke it out, each insisting she's the real Sumireko and the others are doppelgangers. The outcome is that one of the Sumirekos is left standing, and Sumireko wakes up. Initially, she's relieved it was all just a dream... only for Doremy to be right by her bed. She reveals that she couldn't tell which of the Sumirekos had won that fight, so Dream World Sumireko could be in control of Sumireko's body right now. Doremy doesn't care, though, thinking it doesn't matter either way.
This ambiguity is resolved in the next game, Sumireko's very own starring role, Touhou 16.5: Violet Detector (violetdetector is apparently her Instagram username). In it, she seems to have become trapped in the Dream World yet again, facing the Dream World counterparts of the cast of Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom and of Hidden Star in Four Seasons. She is able to wake up from this, but for around three weeks she's essentially locked out of Gensokyo. She decides to take advantage of this by taking photos of all their attacks and posting them to social media. Eventually, Okina Matara appears before her and gives her superpowers, admiring her spunk and tenacity. To make things more interesting, Doremy Sweet appears to be attacking her at every turn.
Suddenly, at the very end, the truth is revealed: you were playing as the Dream World Sumireko the whole time, and were keeping Real Sumireko in the Dream World so the Dream World Sumireko could live her life! Doremy was there to try to stop you, and she sends the real Sumireko your way to solve the issue... or rather, her way, as player control abruptly shifts to the Real Sumireko. Another fight between Sumirekos breaks out, and the real one emerges victorious. She wakes up with no memory of the events (like with most dreams), but has a large number of nifty pictures on her phone for some reason.
The explanation for Sumireko's coming to Gensokyo is finally revealed! She was using an urban legend: that of the doppelganger: the idea that someone who looks and acts identically to you lives somewhere in the world, and if you both met, one or both of you would die. This means that in the world of Touhou Project, there are THREE Sumireko Usamis!
Sumireko thinks this makes her a youkai, which is the perfect explanation for her being better than everyone else: she's a superior being to those puny humans! This is still up for debate, however. This does seem to mean that she's never in any danger in Gensokyo. If she died, she'd just abruptly wake up as if it were a mere nightmare. It also means that if the Urban Legend incident ever was resolved, she'd never be able to come to Gensokyo again. Thank Sagume the Urban Legend incident is the new status quo.
Sumireko's story arc seems to have finished with the book The Grimoire of Usami. She inspires Reimu to create a fireworks festival to get donations, having grown tired of the ones she's seen in the Outside World. Reimu invites a few of her friends and Sumireko along as judges for a contest: whoever has the most beautiful spellcards wins!
Of course, things quickly go out of hand, as Shinmyoumaru Sukuna hijacks the fireworks festival with the help of Seija Kijin and Okina Matara, and invites all the most bloodthirsty youkai in Gensokyo to go absolutely nuts without regard for the safety of the audience. Reimu, Marisa, Sanae, Sakuya, and Youmu all have to band together to keep the human audience from getting hurt. Sumireko is one of the many who think it’s all part of the show, especially with how strangely chummy Seija Kijin is getting with her. What does that mean?
Sumireko is amazed at everyone's beautiful, intricate spellcards, and at how passionately they enjoyed themselves. She decides in the end that she doesn’t care if anyone in the Outside World believes in her stories or photos. Gensokyo is real to her, and that's all that matters.
Oh, and she finally interacts with Sanae Kochiya, the other human girl from the Outside World! Their interaction mostly boils down to bonding over their hatred of the public school system in the Outside World.
Sumireko still reappears from time to time, mostly in Curiosities of Lotus Asia, mainly to elaborate more on the political themes of the most recently released game.
Oh, and a bit more characterization: Yukari Yakumo scares Sumireko enough that she refers to her politely as Miss Yakumo. Keep in mind Sumireko refers to fellow sage Kasen as "Kassie".

Cutitying my Linux desktop!!!
Haiii lovelieess!! :3
I am just soo obsessed with kawaii aesthethic. I pretty much wanted every pixels of my screen to be a shade of pink, or white!!
Tumblr media
I was inspired from Nemui Atelier's post about cutifying her Windows desktop!!! However, I use Linux as my daily driver operating system. I do have Windows installed on my laptop, but I don't usually use it!!
Your Backgrounds
Wallpaper Engine does not run in Linux. I saw some patches from GitHub trying to make it run, however, in this free and open source world of Linux, why not we use a free and open source alternative??
Hidamari to be quite useful for things like this!! You can just install it from Flathub and then you just need to add the GIF or MP4 to the application. It works like a real charm on GNOME!! ✨✨ Best of all, it's free, and it's open source! ✨✨
Tumblr media
It has backend for Youtube too! It also has a browser backend, which allows you to connect to a custom webpage if you want something even more dynamic!! Though, I much recommend writing a GNOME extension, or KDE/KWin plugins if you're on KDE, if you would like something like that.
However, it's quite hard to use wallpapers published for Wallpaper Engine!!! Since they're published as Steam workshop files and pressing the "Subscribe" button on the web interface does not download anything, but rather make Steam downloads them when you got the app installed. You'll need to download steamcmd, the command-line client for Steam. It's pretty much a hassle for non-technical users thoughh….
Application Icons
First of all we need to have the cute icon for our app!!
Tumblr media
I made this Pinterest-inspired logo edit! It's not that great of design, to be honest, but it's just a demonstration!! The logo is just Firefox but edited to be pinkly monochrome. And I added some temporary placeholder backgrounds taken from Pinterest!!! They're pastel pinkcore-themed too!!
Most applications that you install nowadays are probably Flatpaks. Soo.. they're normally installed to /var/lib/flatpak/exports/share/applications/, but if they're system apps, they're usually available on /usr/local/share/applications/.
Tumblr media
Since the Flatpak ID for Firefox is org.mozilla.firefox, we can copy /var/lib/flatpak/exports/share/applications/org.mozilla.firefox.desktop to ~/.local/share/applications
And then we just need to edit it to:
Icon = cute-firefox

Yayyy!! It works!! <3

Cursor theme
Obviously, you can't just use Windows cursor themes on Linux. Linux desktops use a different format than those used by Windows. I'm not going to port any Windows themes today because it's just going to be a long process, but maybe I should do it next time!!!
But maybe you would want thoughh If soo, the KDE userbase does have a guide on making one!!!
I got this Reimu Hakurei cursor theme from OpenDesktop!! It's ported from the original Windows version on Pixiv, and it's great news that it's Touhouuu!!!
Sooo cursor themes in Linux are pretty much the same as icon themes. The difference is that cursor themes just use the cursors folder, of course!!!
So I downloaded the Reimu cursor theme, unpack the zip file, and installed it to ~/.local/share/icons/!! And then I set the cursor theme trough the GNOME Tweaks app!
AAlsoo, don't forget to add the icons folder to Flatseal so that all apps can find the icons!!
Sooo that's my post today!! Thanks for reading!! Byeee!! <3
