First look at The Aviary

A new trailer has been released for The Aviary, which is set to release April 29, 2022.

Malin Akerman and Chris Messina star in the twisted journey of two women's desperate flee to escape the clutches of Skylight, an insidious cult. Lured in by the promise of "freedom" in the isolated desert campus called "The Aviary", Jillian (Akerman) and Blair (Lorenzo Izzo) join forces to escape in hopes of real freedom. Consumed by fear and paranoia, they can't shake the feeling that they are being followed by the cult's leader, Seth (Messina), a man as seductive as he is controlling. The more distance the pair gains from the cult, the more Seth holds control of their minds. With supplies dwindling and their senses failing, Jillian and Blair are faced with a horrifying question: how do you run from an enemy who lives inside your head?

The Aviary. This was the building that started it all for this series. I’d driven by this building many times as I used to live in the area. The unique tile facade and rounded awnings make it the most interesting storefront on the block. I always imagined it to be a fancy lamp shop when it was built but I think it was actually a bird shop. Swipe for a photo I found in the City of Edmonton Archives that has this listed as Tiffany’s Bird Shop. Not really sure this is the right place as it kinda looks like a bar and the description has it listed as being on two different nearby roads but it has the right elements. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So many of Edmonton’s unique buildings fall into disrepair and end up being torn down so it was great to see that a couple years back it was purchased and renovated. I’m sure the new owners have some great stories to tell about that adventure. ☺️ It’s now a multidisciplinary venue dedicated to holding music events, art shows, private parties, theatre and pop up food events. So given that description, you can bet that they, like many other arts and entertainment organizations, are having a nail biting go of it right now. I had a browse of their Instagram earlier today and saw that they are doing take away cocktails in the most enviro friendliest of ways! Have a pop on over to @aviary.edmonton and check them out. 🤞 when everything finally settles down they can get back to doing what they do and we as a city will get to keep a cool looking storefront for a little bit longer. 🥕 This painting is up now at @thecarrotcoffeehouse as part of the Home: Near and Far show. Turns out when you haven't been upside down and hanging from the ceiling in a while you miss it! Tried the HIIT the Bar class at @theaviarymn tonight and it was so much fun! A definição de harmonização bem sucedida foi atualizada depois desta experiência no The Aviary, o bar de Chicago que é considerado um dos melhores do mundo (pudera, é do chef Grant Archatz, do Alinea) e que acaba de abrir aqui no lobby do Mandarin Oriental de Nova York, com a vista matadora do 35o andar. Na carta, cada drinque possui um nível de complexidade - quanto maior o “voo” da ave, mais difícil sua elaboração - e dá para fazer uma degustação de três drinques harmonizados com pratos (aqui o negócio é o contrário, são os pratos que harmonizam com os drinques) escolhidos pelo chef/mixologista a US$ 90, ou de cinco etapas a US$ 135 (dá para pedir tudo à la carte, mas como aqui a arte da mixologia é levada ao extremo, só deixando as escolhas nas mãos deles para ter a melhor experiência). E como abriu há apenas três semanas, nem é preciso falar que as reservas estão concorridas. Junto com o The Aviary veio ainda o The Office, um speakeasy que fica completamente escondido (tem uma porta sempre fechada e é preciso bater para entrar), com cara de clube inglês, sem vista e com um cardápio totalmente diferente do Aviary; mas vai ficar para a próxima vez...
