I needed time to get out of that album frame-of-mind of: 'Is it finished? Where am I at? What's happening?' I really needed that time away from everyone. I was kind of just in Tokyo by myself. It was just a positive time for my head and I think that impacted the album in a big way.

Six indis­pens­able facts about the leg­end that is Har­ry Styles

1. One thing that I thought was easy, but turned out to be extremely difficult when I actually attempted it was 

Cacio e pepe. Last time I did it, I went a lit­tle over­board on the water. So it end­ed up not great.

2. The last dream I can remember is... 

It was when I was sick, and I was so hot. So I think I was just on fire. 

3. The one thing I want that money can't buy is... 

An epiphany.

4. The most dangerous situation I’ve ever found myself in was… 

I crashed a jet ski a cou­ple years ago. I was on hol­i­day and I hit a rock. I land­ed on the water. I mean, I’m here. But yeah, it was close.

5. The single greatest photograph in history is… 

Faye Dun­away sit­ting by the pool with her arms crossed. Or there’s a pic­ture of Steve McQueen and Ali Mac­Graw under a sheet that’s so good.

6. The tattoo I regret the most is…

So I wrote, ​“Big,” on my big toe, but I did it real­ly bad­ly. It doesn’t look good. It’s ter­ri­bly worn. The oth­er ones I’d usu­al­ly regret because I’d want space for some­thing else.
