The Family Remains by Lisa Jewell is her sequel to The Family Upstairs. “Lucy and Henry have moved on from the House of Horrors that was their childhood home. When a bag of bones is found on the banks of the Thames and linked to the house, Lucy and Henry are afraid that long buried secrets will disrupt their lives.” There are multiple timelines here. Pay attention to the dates at the beginning of the chapters. It was tough for me sometimes to keep it straight. You’re supposed to be able to read this as a stand-alone but I think you’ll like it better if you read Upstairs first. Lots of tension in this book. You feel for Lucy who has been through horrible things and just wants a life for her kids. All of them. The ending surprised me.
