#Repost @blackgirlmixtape ・・・ 1. We can deal with more than one oppression at a time. Especially because many of us live inside a space where many of those oppressed identities collide (some toy can see like race, some you can not like gender & ability). 2. Womanism is black womens work. Before it had a name we were womanish. 3. Womanism does not need to call itself intersectional because the very nature of womanist living is intersectional. That’s why we see a history of slave rebellion, suffrage movement 😶, black power, black liberation, civil rights, and black lives matter being lead (and facilitated largely with) Queer|Black|Women|Femmes at the forefront. Black women’s living is intersectional. 4. Black Girl Mixtape is a platform lifting black womens intellectual voices to the forefront because you can’t decolonize or revolutionize ANYthing with the same voices at the front. That’s how we got in this mess in the first place. 5. You can support the work of @blackgirlmixtape by sharing this post and giving towards the Paris Gofundme at gofundme.com/blackgirlmixtapeparis <- We are hosting a docuseries dinner discussion in January in Paris and will be using the footage to host workshops on the coproduction of knowledge that black women and femmes across the diaspora create together. #TheFreePeopleProject https://www.instagram.com/p/B6m8zsxJfXs/?igshid=8c2y5zrz6wsm

Happy Sunday! 📽 @ebonyjanice ・・・ I fluently speak #HipHop and #God. That's why I started doing these #PreachEb videos several years ago. Continuing to have more #conversation about the #ethical responsibility of #preaching to a demographic that might be #unchurched or lacking #spiritual relationship and often cast out. #BibleStudyWithBigKRIT should have beeeeeeen a thing. Reposted from @ebonyjanice About a year ago. 🥴 . . . If I could edit last years caption or commentary I would emphasize that proximity to whiteness also has benefits and privileges. White supremacy is specifically and decidedly antiblack. So while all groups of nonwhite people can and are impacted by white supremacy, there is still privilege the closer you are to whiteness and the further you are from blackness. That’s why you daily see POC being antiblack because they also know that the more they distance themselves from the racism that their own group experiences and away from blackness the safer they (think) they will be. NOT! . . . But THIS video was always meant to demonstrate how to actually use privilege to be an #ally (I prefer the language of #accomplice because allies get to stay home - accomplices will go to jail with you if they have to. . . . Another major thing I would highlight from the comments for the past year is that a lot of folk came racistly into my comment section to demean this angry black man and say, “wELl hE’s tHE oNLY oNe MaKiNg a ScEne...” HEY (slap screen) Protest is not pretty. America was formed cause a bunch of folk jumped on some sh*t and burned some SH*t and kicked and screamed and yelled and and and... they threw good tea over into the water. They started a whole war with their government because they didn’t like the laws. You would defend that. You would defend that protest. You wld understand that any law that dehumanizes and murders and makes certain groups of people unsafe... those laws and that govt shld be overthrown. But your racism slip is showing when Blk folk say, “This. No more.” Because then all of a sudden, “Why don’t you just be civil Martin Luther King Jesus our lord the Bible the laws both sides pray!” . . . “Shut up.” - Those of us who will be free by any means necessary. . . . A year later and I continue to salute the folk doing this kind of organizing and education work. It is necessary and I appreciate any person with actual, literal skin in the game. “All we wanna do is be free.” - JCole #StephonClark #BlackLivesMatter #AntiRacism #CivilDisobedience #Womanism #WhiteSupremacy #TheFreePeopleProject https://www.instagram.com/p/B9egVi3pRKD/?igshid=1hd26tobqa9dx

Reposted from @raspy_rawls - Repost By @rockhill_e: So you say you're Ally huh? PROVE IT. #SoiKnowItsREAL via @thefirstpeople - @ebonyjanice ・・・ #JusticeForStephonClark: 1. I have cried every time I’ve watched this video of protestors at #Sacramento City Council board meeting this morning because (a) Officers not being charged AGAIN for ANOTHER murder of ANOTHER unarmed black man blows my mind (b) Black people are still having to protest to be protected by the same laws and privileges that nonBlack/especially white ppl have two thousand and nineteen years after the #crucifixion/#assasination of balky headed black #Jesus. (c) I have never seen white people do this right (d) this is good training and all folk claiming to be an #ally shld have to go through this kind of rigorous training to be prepared to use their privilege in this way. 2. Lets be clear... #Hollywood will make a movie abt everybody in this video and leave out the name and face if this Brother at the center of this movement. And very scantily mention #StephonClark. It will win an #Oscar. ... I have cried several times watching this because I still haven’t gotten over #MichaelBrown, #TrayvonMartin, #AltonSterling, #TerenceCrutcher... Hell... I’m still grieving #AmadouDiallo, #SandyBland 😩 #SeanBell. DO YOU KNOW NAMES I HAVE TATTOO’d ON MY HEART THAT ARE GONE WITH NO CONSEQUENCE BECAUSE OF ANTIBLACK RACISM UPHELD BY THE SYSTEMS ANS GOVERNMENT THAT WE PAY TAXES TO SUPPORT WITH NO SUPPORT? It’s too many names. I know them by heart. I grieve them on the daily. Do you know how many names? Names I know that you haven’t even ever heard? Do you? #TheFreePeopleProject - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/BuukkDpHmny/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=qs1qfk9du9oo

🔮The other day I saw a post about black women not being "Resources" and recently the memory of a repost of a time I said, "I create from resistance so much that I fear that I will never know my whole free self if I don't ever get to dream myself free" popped up and it made me need to come here to say: 🔮Black Women need a vacation, a massage, a break, an orgasm, a new pack of press on nails, and a nap... We don't need to be anybody's free labor. We are literally on Cisely Tyson's internet every single day giving away free work. Just my words are the #wisdom that set folk free. I don't need to explain anything else because I've written books, blogs, and elaborate captions. I don't need to answer your questions in my comment section because I probably already answered it in the link in my bio or in the Book Me form on my website. And if all else fails there are just too many books, documentaries, and LIVE lectures, and learning programs that have already done the deep work that folk be acting like is a brand new concept. LOL! I be so tickled when I be like, "My hair needs a deep conditioning today" and somebody will slide into my DMs and be like, "Is that a black thing? Is that new? Deep conditioning? Does that stand for Deprogram, Each & Every Person" LOL! And I'm being exaggerative but also... I'm not! 🔮Anyways, when #Beyonce said, "I'm the only lady here still the realest nga in the room" I felt that. Because sometimes the world wide web (the world) be making me feel like I'm the only one that got some sense and while it's possible that I really am brilliant... it's also possible that some of y'all really just need to stop begging black women to breastfeed you every little morsel when we've already cooked the whole buffet... Get up and eat! 🔮 #TheFreePeopleProject 🔮#Womanism Is To #Feminism Lecture is March 21st on La Zoom and you can get tickets to this Liberation Lecture Series lecture (I've cooked the food come sit and eat) at http://bit.ly/ebonyjanicewomanism2 And PayPal.me/blackgirlmixtape is a way to sponsor a ticket for our ongoing WOC Ticket Scholarship Program. When I said I was shifting - I meant it! Next year with the relaunch of @blackgirlmixtape (you are going to LIVE for the changes) and my commitment to being #CliffNotesForTheHood I will continue my Lecture Series from a Liberation perspective with less focus on AntiRacism and more focus on the ways we exist when we are actually free. You can get the full season of lectures Nov 1 - 30th for a discount. 10 lectures for the price of 8. I am thrilled about these topics and this work and the learning prep and honestly truly... We can change the world... and so we shall! #TheFreePeopleProject bit.ly/2021ebonyjanice (Link In Bio) (at New Orleans, Louisiana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHF90_2F839/?igshid=8ct6c1avq545

Every time I make myself believe my #activism is resistance, I get distracted from making Love. My life was not given to me so I could give it to resistance. My life was given to me so I could experience the abundance of pleasure this earth has for me to enjoy. I often think abt Walter Lee from Raisin In The Sun. “Mama I just want so many thangs...” Life, for so many Blk folk, for years - as a result of antiblack systems of oppression, is struggle and yearning and want. I opt out. I don’t wanna struggle and year and want like the work of my ancestors wasn’t sufficient. It was. And it was for more than me to be doing the same thing. Their highest imagination was for me to be free free. Free indeed. I was not born for the purpose of educating white people invested in whiteness for free for the rest of my life. Cause I wanna make love. And every time I have to stop gazing into the eyes of the Beloved (my family, my friends, my community, my one) I take a moment of my love making away from them and I will never get that time back. No. My life is for my dreaming. That is liberation. That is my business. And that’s all. And that’s it. I’m inviting you into this wonder. Black folk... Love. Non Blk folk... contribute to our ability to just love by: 1. Minding to your business (this undoing isn’t YOUR business. Not mine.) 2. Loving black folk. Because being anti racist is bottom of the barrel ethic. Black love is the revolution. Either you love us or you are contributing to the issues that keep us from the loving - which is our purpose. 3. Share your privilege: - Your platform. - Your network. - Your resources. *Dont just go replaying June/July2020 and tagging a whole bunch of blk educators. Click the links in those bios and go give towards their work, their ease, their love, their rest, their dreaming, and their joy. ——- #DreamYourselfFree 12 Month Spiritual Mentoring Program is open to all women interested in doing the work of healing, loving, resting, creating, and dreaming. Lil’ Wayne calls himself a Martian. Jay Z calls himself, “Hova the God.” (Most of) Wutang Clan calls themselves “God emcees.” Janelle Monae calls herself an Android. Andre Benjamin says that hs is from the year 3000. “The Radical Black Imagination” is THE essential tool that we need for liberation. We have to imagine ourselves as other than human sometimes because this human experience will limit us or unworthy us just because we are black. Like black ain’t holy or something? Like God didn’t create from a big black womb or something? Like we ain’t God Is or something. Whiteness has a diff relationship shop with God and imagination than blkness because you don’t have to hope for heaven if white supremacy creates a safety (a form of heaven) for you here. You also don’t need a huge imagination either... because safety is safe. Imagination is often birthed out of lack, absence, nothingness. Black folk need God and imagination because our heaven is a place where we finally get to be free. So black folk need imagination so that we can dream up the heaven where we get to be free. That may manifest in the form of alien, god, Android, out of this world, The Afro Future, 3000 years ahead of the rest. Whatever it looks like... we need radical black imagination to get free. To be free. To stay free. To create freedom for ourselves over and over again. This is an ongoing personal journal series where I’m thinking about the work of a blCk girl who needs to know her activism doesn’t have to always look like resistance. Sometimes it can just look like dreaming. And that’s a reallllllly big deal! #TheFreePeopleProject #DreamYourselfFree Have you joined my Patreon yet? November has some new gooooodness for you! Today @shardemus said I was giving rich vibes with this photo. @earring_ddra told me I’m aging backwards and said “We Stan!” @cheatcodechrissy says I look like a rich Nigerian Auntie lately. @mobrowne says I’m glowing. Basically, I been in search of my body and my glory as a #1 priority. I can’t process Black Death in my email or my DMs with you any time soon. Especially if you only contact me when there is grief. What about the way Blk women see me see me when there is love and ease and joy and pleasure? Y’all gotta learn how to really love each other the ways black women first loved me! Or you won’t be saved! #TheFreePeopleProject And because we don’t waste captions... my #WomanismIsToFeminism lecture will talk about how relationship is a central and essential truth for black Womens liberation organizing and building and if your politic doesn’t include sisterhood 👩🏾‍💻😬👀 your politic probably is colonized and oppressive to you and the people you claim to be in the fight and plight with. - Keep contacting your state reps about this inhumane issue. - Contact the Mayors office and tell him it’s not enough to just freeze rent stabilized housing when they know that doesn’t put a dent in how this crisis has impacted this city, this state & this country. - Tell your Governor to get off CNN every night and do something very specific for all New Yorkers regarding the unrealistic expectation to keep paying #NewYork rent without all the many jobs most folk do to try to pay that rent. @nygovcuomo - Find the petitions for your Burroughs. Sign them. Share them. - Contact Housing Justice For All in NY if you have any questions about your rent. #CancelRent #FreezeRent #PowerToThePeople #HousingJusticeForAll #TheFreePeopleProject (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-zQZ1cJSiH/?igshid=1i4zp5ll8z63g

[The link is in my bio.] Got to share 4 book recommendations with @glamourmag for places to begin educating yourself on race (and because I’m a blk woman (race and gender). Took time to appreciate @austinchanning’s “I’m Still Here” @professor_crunk’s “Eloquent Rage” #JoanMorgan’s “When Chickenheads Come Home To Roost” and #AngelaDavis “Women, Race, & Class.” . . . Shoutout to @erinhaveadream for using this platform to compiled this important list - especially focusing on black women’s contributions to this conversation. #TheFreePeopleProject (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBJMbqSpKaV/?igshid=1g8rempnb3eu5

My self-love journey is ongoing. Some days I love myself and am impressed with myself to the point of borderline arrogance. I'm obnoxious and annoyed that you don't know how perfect and amazing I am. Some days I look in the mirror and I see a knuckle. Or an elbow. Or a knee cap. No, I'm not talking about the body parts - I'm saying there are days when I think I look like an ashy knuckle, elbow, or a knee cap. It's a whole thing. Pray! Lol! . . . But a thing that I have always been capable of is watching a sunset on my own. Me... I am my own Beloved and there is no greater skill that I have than that of giving me sweetness, and gentleness, and silence, and long walks, and movie dates, and dinner, and dessert before dinner, and candles, and baths, and #MarvinGaye on repeat at midnight for kids reason and also for reasons, and whatever else it is that I need to feel less like a knuckle and more like my #genius self - more consistently. . . . I haven't been in a seriously committed relationship in 9 years. I remember when my last relationship ended, this elder at the church I went to told me to get over my ex by moving on to the next. LOL! That is some ole toxic advice if I've ever heard it. I didn't mean to be single for 9 years but I'm so glad I knew that she was wrong and that it was good for me to heal through before I moved on. I am such a marvelous version of myself. I'm so glad that I get to live this life and this calling and this gift and this grace. And I'm also so grateful that I had sense enough to begin the real work of healing before I enter another long term relationship/partnership because I get to manifest my beloved from this version of myself and not the version of myself that thought the best had come when surely the best was yet to come. . . . (deep exhale) More than anything, I'm glad I had sense enough to not wait until someone else decided to love me to love me because even on the days when I look like an ashy elbow I still know I am #worthy and worth all the good love that God (&me) has to give. #HappyValentinesDay "Treat yoself!" #TheFreePeopleProject #SelfLove #BestLove #Valentines #ILoveMyself #ZoraNealeHurston #SlowDance #SummerWalker https://www.instagram.com/p/B8kWm6pppIl/?igshid=1w94t3zwae7wu
