His expression, though calm, was stern; though he couldn't have been older than eighteen, his face was that of authority. "Unfortunately," he continued, "because I work for the royal family, it requires me to ask what you're doing here." There was a flash of sympathy in his gaze.

This was his lucky day. It wasn't often that you found an Ark, but when you did, you might as well have found a gold mine. They were Pre-Strike tech, meant to cryogenically preserve humans to prevent extinction, but as far as he'd seen, the program had failed. There wasn't much in the way of scavenging in the pod, but what he did find was far more interesting. A girl, about his age, had been alive in one of the pods, and she was currently laying before him as he leaned against his assault buggy, tossing a fireball back and forth between his hands.
