My Review.... I've found myself a new favourite author and a 13 part series to read! The author can trace his ancestry back to Uhtred the Bold, Earl of Northumbria and the main character in this book - imagine that! The story takes place in the 9th and 10th centuries when the Vikings were invading, and the English were unifying into a nation. Life expectancy was short and life could be brutal. This is my second book by Bernard Cornwell and once again, I found the writing exceptional, although, to be honest, I did stumble on some of the olde English place names - but I didn't let that ruin the narrative.- 4 stars
