obsessed with the fact that daniel thinks that louis is constantly performing (he is) because he is talking in purple prose but it's actually. just how vampires talk to each other. they are weirdos before anything else. like daniel will have to watch armand and louis give 2 page monologues to each other about what they would like to watch on netflix that night
armand: I doubt that it will answer to our mutual tastes completely... but I have grounds to assume that I will enjoy it immensely, while you may find the implications of the work compelling. I believe we have already seen the supposed continuation of this work, but I have gathered that it does not have a strong relation to it thematically or even narratively, and overall the connection is superficial.
louis: I think I will trust your assertion. I do find myself particularly attracted to works with themes of alienation and the nature of creation, and this specific one, from what I've seen, is masterfully done. But we should no doubt include our guest in our discussion. Daniel, what do you think? Shall we watch this?

I have been doing my Terezi impression for the entertainment of my brother (who hasn’t read Homestuck; I will introduce it to him next 4/13) sporadically over the past few weeks. This has resulted in a number of ridiculous conversations. E.g.:
Me: [driving to GameExchange; doing my chain-smoker impression] Where’s the turn?
Bro: [navigating via Google Maps] Next light, take a left.
Me: Gotcha.
Me: [takes the turn] 1S NOW 4 B4D T1M3 TO M3NT1ON TH4T 1M BL1ND??
Bro: uH [laughs]
----
Me: [typing an essay for my brother while he dictates] YOO, GAIA? SOUNDS LIKE GAY
Bro: OMG IT FRIGGIN DOES [the essay’s about the book Anthem btw]
[several bad jokes later, I start typing in Terezi’s quirk]
Me: H3R3 L3T M3 L1CK YOU
Bro: What? Why
Me: [verbally] 1 W4NN4 KNOW WH4T COLOR YOU T4ST3 L1K3
Bro: [bursts out laughing]
[Later:]
Me: [typing] Gaia is Prometheus’s Minecraft girlfriend.
Bro: [laughs] NO DELETE THAT
Me: Ok. [deletes; types in its place] anyway prometheus ran away into the woods with his gaia-mer girlfriend
Bro: LOW-KEY, EXACTLY
Me: [typing in Terezi’s quirk] 1 H4D 4 G4M3R GF ONC3
Bro: What color did she taste like?
[Beat]
Me: BLU3
Bro: [bursts out laughing again]
----
He thinks I might be doing an impression of Gizmo from Teen Titans, which is a segue into a discussion about whether or not Teen Titans is an anime which I shall not get into at the present time

S.D.Perry talks about Weyland-Yutani Report
Excerpt from AVP Galaxy forum
A general note on canon, which may answer a bunch of questions–bear with me if you know this already, as I’m sure many of you do: it would be all but impossible to create a consistent universe for any franchise, or explain every contradiction therein. The Aliens universe has movies, books, comics, video games, more movies, etc. Editors quit or move on, publishing rights change hands, directors have their own ideas (and since movies are where the big bucks are, they will inevitably win), writers don’t have time to read a tenth of everything, and there are ALWAYS financial considerations… it’s inevitable, if a movie makes money, more of them get made. If one or more of the sequels tanks financially, or is so badly executed that fans hate it, the mother company–in this case, Fox–is likely to politely ignore it, and focus on the cool franchise aspects for the next project, which is not always successful. This makes canon flexible, as contradictory as that seems. I don’t have an inside line to Fox or anything, but have worked in a number of universes (Aliens, AvP, Predator, Star Trek, Resident Evil, etc.) and I find that this is usually the case.
predexo, watching something you felt to be canon getting shot down is rough–it sucks to have one’s choices made for them–but thankfully, in this day and age, we get to keep copies of the things we care about. Whether or not someone else says it’s legitimate, who cares? That shouldn’t change how you feel about the movie/book/whatever. It’s your right to enjoy what you enjoy, and if the Man makes bad decisions, it’s your right to take your money elsewhere.
Other stuff: - At the moment, Aliens has its own universe, Predator has its own, AvP has its own. That may change, but again, I don’t know anything. For this project, I was strictly in the Aliens universe. - Hicks does mention in passing that there were already some Marines at Hadley’s Hope. That is a reference to one of the new novels, I was asked specifically to put it in. - Would I write a book narrated by Morse? Sure, if asked. Morse is hilarious. - I didn’t know anything about the new Prometheus movie, except that I was asked not to speculate (much) about the alien’s origins in this book. Well, I know one thing, but if I spilled, I might be flayed alive. - For the timeline, I was told to always defer to the movies as canon, and occasionally the movie novelizations for additional detail. So, comics, original works, and games were mostly left out, except for a few references I was specifically asked to put in, to help promote some of the newer projects. I wasn’t asked to exclude anything. I’m not actually sure how it finally turned out, as there were several uber fan continuity checkers hired on to look for mistakes. - Using the actor names for the characters was an Aliens thing, so when I had characters with only a last name listed, I put in the actor’s first name. I didn’t know if Fox would sign off on it, but they did. My editor, Chris, who was awesome, BTW, also thought it was a good idea.
Xenomorphine, lots of questions! You get your own section. I’ll go by number. I would cut and paste the questions, but last time I did something like that I totally messed it up and looked like an idiot. Hopefully you’ll remember the questions from context. 1. Let’s see… alien shape is based on the host’s DNA, you already know that. We didn’t discuss age-related morphological changes in this book. As SM mentioned earlier in a comment, this book is a Company report, and while they have plenty of theories, they don’t know everything about the aliens… 2. …Or Hicks! I’m not privy to everything canon–there are so many projects connected to the universe, contradictions occur all of the time–but as I may have said earlier, the editors that work in established universes try to focus on what really works, ignoring stuff that won’t support their project. We’re always struggling (writers, editors, game makers) to define and make sense of an ever changing universe. Every new movie adds or contradicts. The universe is so big, there’s a lot of room to just make up new stuff, which happens plenty. 3. I’ve been doing Aliens related novelizations since I started writing, 20+ years ago, so nothing surprised me, really, though I had to take my vague assumptions and firm ‘em up with some actual science. This was a pretty research-intensive project. I learned some neat stuff, though, mostly about insects. 4. Fox wasn’t involved until after I wrote the first draft… I was asked to include some references to the new Titan books and the new game, asked to take out a detail here or there for style’s sake, but nothing unexpected. The Fox contact, Josh, was very nice, and super enthusiastic. 5. I did not contact Mr. Giger… again, this is a Weyland-Yutani report, not a definitive encyclopedia on aliens. Plus, I wouldn’t have had the nerve! 6. Yes. Writing for big franchise universes is tough– there’s so much that you have to try not to contradict–but Predators are wicked cool. I think if this book does well, Fox is open to doing something similar in the Predator and/or AvP universes, but again, don’t quote me. No promises were made! :) As a mostly work-for-hire writer, I’ll write whatever… Aliens, Xena, My Little Pony. Preference doesn’t really play a part, and I’m not at a level where I get to pitch book ideas. 7. Hmm… If I had to do more, probably Resurrection, just for symmetry’s sake. I was not a fan of the movie, and of course, the USM ran the experiment, not the Company, so they (WY) were very dismissive of the whole thing. There’s less detail there than elsewhere. If I got to pick for fun, I’d do more with the prisoners on Fury 161. Just cuz. 8. No. I’ve had to write fast (did a novelization once in 21 days; for me, that’s fast) and have certainly at times been sloppy, especially at the beginning of my career, but if I couldn’t appreciate the source material, understand what makes it magical to some people, then I wouldn’t be very good at my job. I know that paint by the numbers writers exist, but I don’t know any personally. To write contract work professionally, one must always embrace the inspiration, IMHO. If I can’t, I’m at least a decent enough writer to fake it.:) Luckily, I’m an Aliens fan. 9. I had some influence over layout, but in a very roundabout way. My editor sent me some of the movie images, then I came up with a general script. He and I went back and forth on that, trying to strike the right tone, trying to give format and opportunity to the artists. The artists made art, and it went back to us, finding or writing text that would fit, captioning things. It was a very interactive experience. So I played a part in the final look, but really, a very small one near the beginning. 10. Once I turn in a final draft, and all of the last minute touches have been made, I have NO IDEA what happens next. Some writers, presumably the smart ones, find out everything they can about when their work comes out and how much and what format; me, I like to write, and not much else. I’m a terrible business person. I’d love to see it on my Kindle, though!

Thoughts about chapter 854
Wedding keeps getting closer and Sanji needs to make his move ! a move he was supposed to do long time ago dammit
Tumblr media
Apparentally Nami and Jinbe had no time to discuss because BM’s soldiers are after them.  I don’t know why but it’s so cool that Jinbe trusts Nami’s powers so much that he askes her to take care of the chasing soldiers (I mean he could use his fishman karate).
Tumblr media
Poor Bropper got accidentally zapped by Nami because they appeared from Mirror World suddenly. Can’t still deny that her making Enel face is funny, oh these gags :’D Also, the links between Jinbe and Big Mom Pirates are starting to get opened. That roulette of life seems to be pretty dangerous and understandably it should be avoided. I guess Brulee is determinded to see that each of the whole retrieval team will get their spin but everyone ignores her and they keep on moving.
Tumblr media
Okay let me say this again, Brook is a badass. He managed to injure Prometheus and even Mama gives some respect to him ! (even though she treats him like a doll).  The afro skeleton still needs to be careful that no one opens up his skull because like guessed in the last review, if Brook found something before Mama rushed in he’d hide it there. Mama surely treasures Pudding at any costs and I’d really like to think that they are close to each other but it can also be that Mama really doesn’t care about udding at all and only wants to see her true form to be awaken. Actually I’m not sure whether this was already mentioned in last review but there is a theory in OJ that Pudding could be a sweet commander. That would at least explain the missing character box but still.. we ned more chapters for those speculations to be confirmed.
So their plan for the wedding is to cover Pudding’s face into a veil and after Sanji lifts it up and sees the third eye Pudding will start the chaos (btw that wedding dress reminds me too much of that what Nami wore in Thriller Bark) and if everything goes according to their plan, Vinsmokes will be wiped out from the entire planet. Momma is all hyped up because she wants the prizes of the arranged marriage, Germa technology but I’m not sure what’s going on in Pudding’s mind. Maybe she is not expressing her excitement as wide as her mother but could it still be that she has other plans? I mean people in OJ have been guessing whether Pudding will actually betray her own mother. One possibility is that she might have an alliance with Capone for reasons we don’t know yet.

By the way, if we talk abot the shipping perspective, @sanjiaholic brought up a important thing here. Sanji is planned to get killed just the way Arlong killed Bellmere, a shot in the head. Quite interesting coincidence isn’t it? Nami already heard about the shooing but I’m not sure whether she got any other details but anyways, there are reasons for her reaction in chapter 850.  Even Arlongs line could be a parallel to the fact that Sanji has been ready to die for his crew and well might be afraid of death but still, so determinded. It’s indeniable that these two warm hearted characters have some things in common.
Tumblr media
In meeting room there is discussion about the situation considering the retrieval team. Charlotte family is counting how many enemies they thought they have taken out. As seen there are some tensions between the brothers because of the spread rumors and Mon’d Or doesn’t trust Opera so he sends some soldiers to guard around and Opera is afraid to tell the truth because of the punishment.
I wonder what is Reiju thinking. She is either seeing how Luffy wanders to the ‘’promised place’’ but on the other hand she is definitely worried about wedding. I don’t know could it be possible that she is planning to change her mind. Now that she is aware of what’ll happen in the weddng and she knows that in Sanji’s opinion it makes no sense to “fake the situation” (being “not aware” about what Pudding said and did) I wouldn’t cut off the possibility of her sacrificing herself for Sanji’s sake (making the move before Pudding)
Tumblr media
Sanji is alone again and got another painful reminder of his nakamas. I was kind of thinking that he could be already on his way but seems like he is stuck with worries, minding not to get killed. I don’t know if he did it already but at least now he acknowledges that he has made excactly a bento what he’d do for his crew mates. It seems like that despite knowing tha Pudding will shoot him the he decided to meet his faith and sacrifice his life (to get she headshot) It’s kind of crazy from Sanji but can we blame him because it’s his nature? he still wants to keep everyone safe and believes that this is “the only right thing to do”. I also wonder is this decision made also because he is ashamed to face Luffy and the other thinking that this is how “he’ll pay back his actions”? It will be anyways hard for him to face his crew again, this was a big mess after all.
Pudding’s words were like knives stabbing Sanji but I think seeing Bobbing trying to take the meat out of the bento was the final trigger. This is the second wake up call for Sanji because there is the flashback to chapter 844 and he sends the intruder flying with style and the meat stays unharmed. After Bobbins starts to question Sanji’s acts the Kuroashi  is finally on his way.
Tumblr media
To be honest I was kind of hyped up about the possibility that Nami and Jinbe would meet Sanji before Luffy but understandably captain meeting the cook first is better for the plot. Now we have to hope that both will make to the promised place safe and sound and I believe It’ll happen (Luffy getting captured again would be repeating and since the wedding is getting closer, I don’t think Oda would do that). So, RUN SANJI RUN !
Tumblr media
ps. the cover picture is so damn cool !
