Tulips pt 3: Renovating
Armitage Hux x Fem.Reader x Ben Solo
modern AU
A/n: just more fluff! I do have more ideas for this particular story :3
Part 1
Part 2
Tumblr media
Armitage and Ben were usually the ones on opposing sides in this newly formed relationship, but today it was you and Armitage who couldn’t quite see eye to eye.
Which was odd considering you were typically the mediator, the voice of reason and peace, to settle all their disputes and create compromises.
But you were just unrelenting on this issue and Armitage was being his usual stubborn self.
Apparently, you and Hux had opposite tastes in decor, you appreciated colors, patterns, and a vibrant space while Hux preferred more muted tones, sleek designs, and minimal distractions.
For the most part, you were willing to compromise and Armitage met you halfway. Such as, instead of painting each room a different color, the two of you came to an agreement that you could paint one accent wall in each room in the new apartment.
But currently the two of you were toe to toe, you just wouldn’t budge on the matter and neither would Armitage.
Ben thought this whole problem was incredibly stupid. Who actually cares about a lighting fixture?
You had your heart set on a chandelier for the dining room, but Armie found it gaudy and distasteful. He wanted something more subtle and more basic.
Ben sat comfortably in the armchair listening to the two of you bicker.
“It’s beautiful, regal even! It’ll literally be the highlight of our dining room!” you argued.
“It’s an eyesore, and I refuse to have to look at it every damn day!” Armitage yelled.
“Now this is a perfect light fixture,” he continued waving a catalog in the air.  “simple lines, nothing frilly hanging off of it, it’s perfect!”
“It’s just so boring,” you whined. “I want to create an elegant dining room to host dinner parties and… regular parties.”
Ben giggled at your lack of reasons when even 100 perfectly solid reasons wouldn’t be able to sway Armie over anything.
“This is elegant,” Armitage gestured once again to picture. “That is a tacky excuse for a light fixture!”
“Chandeliers are classic!”
“They are the whores of the light fixture industry!” Armitage seethed.
Ben sighed, while he found it entertaining listening to the two of you argue for once, he knew the sooner this new apartment was ready the sooner the three of you could actually start living together.
“Alright, that’s it.” Ben stood up, stretching his arms above his head. “I’ll pick the damn light fixture, but I am not picking either of yours.”
“Why should you have the final say? You haven’t had a single opinion on this entire renovation!” Armitage shouted.
“Because I’m tired of listening to the two of you bitch about fucking lights, so yeah now I do have a damn opinion on all of this.” Ben snatched Armitage’s catalog, then yours.
He then grabbed his coat off the hanger, put it on and headed towards the door.
“I’ll be back with a light for our dining room. In the meantime you two kiss and make up,” Ben instructed before leaving.
Armitage sighed, his shoulders dropping slightly, his eyes glanced at your face.“I… I’m sorry for being so unreasonable over this matter.”
“I’m sorry too, it’s just a light fixture,” you apologized shaking your head. “Although now we have to deal with whatever Ben picks out.”
Armitage groaned, who knows what he’ll bring back. Probably, some neon light that resembled something seen on the Las Vegas strip.
“Did we just have our first fight?” he asked, lifting his eyebrow.
“It was barely even a spat… just a minor disagreement,” you assured him quietly.
“I was worried…” he admitted. “Usually you’re the one who understands me or at least tries to see things from my perspective. You keep it all balanced. I was afraid of losing all that.”
“Come here,” you took his hand in yours. “We should pick out the cabinets next.”
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?”
You and Armitage sat side by side, looking at a kitchen catalog. You flipped through the pages one by one.
“I like these ones,” the two of you simultaneously said pointing at the same picture.
“Well that was easy, those are the ones then,” he said with a small smile.
You smiled back at Armitage, “See we’re going to be ok.”
You took his hand kissing his palm, “there’s nothing to worry about. We were bound to have a disagreement and we’ll probably have more eventually.”
His hand stroked your neck, his thumb tickling your jaw.
Armitage leaned towards you to kiss you. His tongue parted your lips. Hungrily, your lips melded together. The kiss became more heated as his other hand started moving up your skirt. You moaned, as he squeezed your thigh. Your hands clung to his shoulders pulling him closer.
“Well look at that, you guys really did kiss and makeup!” Ben said with a big grin on his face.
You and Armitage parted. Apparently, it didn’t take Ben long to find a light fixture that met his aesthetics.
He was proudly holding a large cardboard box. “Now time for the big reveal lady and gentleman, I give you our very own light fixture!”
Carefully, Ben removed it from the packaging. It was lovely, the perfect compromise between a flashy chandelier and something more simple and modern like Armitage wanted.
“It’s beautiful,” you complimented, nodding your head approvingly.
“Surprisingly a choice I could live with,” Armitage said, admiring it.
“Really?” Ben asked skeptically.
“Really,” you confirmed.
He stuck his chest out, as he was bursting with pride. “Now where are all my kisses for being the hero and settling this whole dilemma?”
“Right here,” you murmured laying your hands on his chest and pecking his lips then his neck a couple of times.
Ben looked at Armitage expectantly, “well?”
“Fine,” Armitage sighed.
He pulled Ben close, hand behind his head, pressing his lips against Ben’s.
“You did well,” Armitage told Ben as they parted, still gazing into each other's eyes.
“Were you guys looking at cabinets?” Ben asked noticing the open catalog on the counter, then he made a face. “Those ones are hideous.”
“Well deal with it, because those are the ones we’re getting,” Armitage griped.
Ben lifted his hands up in surrender, “alright, alright calm down, Ginger Snap… they’re just cabinets.”
Armitage shook his head, he hated the nickname, but he was feeling reassured that three of you could make it through anything. Apparently, your relationship had become stronger than he realized.
