"Damnit..! I lost again" He let out a defeated sigh as he watches the 'GAME OVER' screen blinking at him in an almost mocking way.

The chat of his live stream went wild upon his fifth time losing on a game that he had been playing for hours by now and yet he still hasn't been able to beat it.

"Yeahhh, thanks a lot chat! those 'L's you're spamming are definitely helpful" Micha rolled his eyes at the countless mockery his viewer was sending him. He knew it was all jokes- or at least he hope it is.

Deciding that he needed a break from the game, he cracked open a can of soda and laid back against his chair, opting to interact more with his viewers.

He had only been streaming for a few months and had gained a pretty sizeable amount of viewer and fanbase.

Bloozzclues : You should check (insert your streamer name) out! They've beaten this game multiple time and have some useful tips you can use.

"(Y/S/Name)? I've heard of them before, saw a few of their speedruns. I never understand how they manage to get that luck based glitch to work! But thanks bloozz! i'll be sure to check them out after stream" Micha replied to one of the chat and moved on to the others.

Micha choked on his drink as he tries to contain his coughs. He almost spat out the soda onto his keyboard and it would've been a nightmare to clean it up.

Scrolling through the main page of the streaming website on his other monitor, lo and behold, the (Y/S/Name) was indeed watching his stream. Specifically, the parts where he lose to the same boss every. single. time.

He felt his cheeks reddened everytime he heard (Name) laughed or giggled at him. They wouldn't just laugh at him though, they would also insert in some advices for him to improve on which made him incredibly jittery with excitement.

(Y/S/Name) also known as (Name) has always been an inspirational figure of his when he first started streaming. To be acknowledged by his idol causes him to be so overwhelmed, he almost fainted from how fast his heart is beating.

The chimes of his subscription's notif brought him back to his senses, Micha's chats were going crazy from the streamer's trance like reaction to (Y/S/Name) stream.

Collecting what little composure he has anymore, Micha decided to end the stream under the guises of him being exhausted.

After saying goodbyes to his viewers, he clicked the end stream button. Alone with his thoughts, Micha switches the screen back onto your stream.

He knew from then on, his adoration for you had grown into something more. Something deadly and dangerous.

If anything, it seemed that his frustration and need to do so only grew whenever you were around, which was a bothersome thing in the beginning yes—but overtime you just grew used to it.

You patiently waited until the players were finally allowed to leave the stadium, meaning you had to wait for over what? 1 and a half hours or so? You didn't even know how long it'd been considering the fact you fell asleep throughout it.

If it hadn't been for someone oh so kind enough to shake you awake then you probably would've been kidnapped and sent to germany for god knows what. You slowly opened your eyes, and spotted someones arse sitting just right beside your head. A shudder went up your spine when your eyes trailed up that persons body and was met with blinding blue ones.

Before you could even stand up from the bench—a jacket fell from your waist. The both of you silently stared at it, and that's when it registered in your head that Rin had actually been thoughtful enough to cover you up in this throat aching weather.

You robotically turned your head in Rin's direction, making sure to keep eye-contact while you picked up the jacket from the ground. The thought of spiting him with the neutral expression on your face that held every bit of smugness was the best thing about your reunion.

You stood up from the bench and stared at him silently, before clearing your throat. “Were you actually sleeping?” Rin stated the obvious, a deadpanned expression on his face, “Did you actually cover me up with your jacket?”

“No, I didn't.”

ㅤ

“How thoughtful of Sae to cover me up then, with this 'Itoshi' jacket of his.” The sudden mention of his brother earned you a visible scowl on his face. You raised a hand and rubbed your neck to warm it up, “Too far, okay get it.” You awkwardly chuckled, and in attempt to lighten the mood—you tried to jokingly slap his arm, when he suddenly caught your wrist in his calloused and rather, cold hand.

Your eyes widened, usually you weren't all that shocked when Rin decided to do something unexpected, but since the two of you have been separated for far too long—it seems that ability was thrown and disregarded out the window. You looked at him as if you were waiting for something, however nothing came from his tightly zipped mouth.

You pushed all the teasing aside and tried to put a hand on his own, “Rin? Is there something wrong?” Your question was quickly followed by a gasp when Rin had suddenly pulled you in a warm hug. His hand slithered from your wrist and onto the back of your head while his other arm wrapped around your waist. His chin rested peacefully on your shoulder as he inhaled a deep breath. Was it out of embarrassment or lack of air? Don't know, but your pride said first option.

You slowly let out a chuckle and hugged back, placing your hands onto his back as you felt him shudder slightly. “Aww, you missed me.” Rin grumbled a quiet, ‘No, I didn't.’ The two of you stayed in that position for a while, silently enjoying each other's company as your holds only seemed to grow tighter with many more seconds passing.

You wouldn't admit it, but you liked it. You liked hugging him. You liked him.

“You did great out there Rin,” you murmured into his scarf, feeling his hand comb through your hair as he listened. Rin felt smitten. He always liked hearing you talk, ever since the two of you were little kids. He just wishes he could've listened more.

“But you mind wanna talk about that tongue action on the field?” Way to ruin the moment. Rin tugged at your hair.

ㅤ

“Shut the fuck up.” Rin threatened in an annoyed tone, a grin graced your lips as you looked up at him with a cat-like smirk. “Makes me wonder what other things that tongue can do.” You tried saying with a straight face, but ended up breaking into a fit of laughter at how cringed out you were.

You were pulling away from him, “I can't, let's go home dude—” “But you wanted me to show you, right?”

Andd you were forcefully pulled back into the hug. Your eyes widened as your cheeks flared a bright red color, “What?” Rin stared at you, his eyes never wavering. “You said you wanted to see, right.” Despite the right at the end of his sentence—it felt more like a demand rather than a question. Your eyes twitched in annoyance, ‘Fuck you.’—is what you wanted to say, yet nothing came out.

for a spoiler — pre-situationship lucemond and jace once took (read: were sent by their moms on) a road-trip to pick aegon up from rehab. aegon, not wanting to go back to king's landing, gave them the address of one in dorne that'd been closed for a decade. luke has so many photos of jace kneeling in the desert from when they found out, in dorne 💀 (aegon was in the riverlands)

(footage from luke's phone, circa 5 years before the events of lsts: a shaky zoom in of jace, many yards away, staring off into the distant dunes with a defeated stance. aemond's voice, flat: "this is fucked up." camera pans to him, looking disgruntled and ridiculous in sunglasses, zinc, and a protective hat)

ngl daemon's real-time reaction to the pregnancy news fell a bit out of the story's scope while i was writing lmao 😭 i promise him being more relegated to the background has a purpose! for those curious, daemon probably would've condescendingly chuckled at them if he was there 💀

alyssa still dies when daemon is fairly young because i think something like losing a parent significantly alters a character and how i portray them, and the age it happens matters too, so i tried to keep certain deaths in line with canon! for the same reason laena still dies when rhaena and baela are about 6 (and daemon only waits 6 months to marry rhaenyra, which is still outrageous by modern westerosi standards 🫠). same with the velaryon boys and harwin dying around the same time as them "losing" laenor — though that'll be explored more later :)

so the job i had before this one was so close to my old apartment that i just walked to work every morning i was scheduled for a shift. i worked retail at a store in a (miraculously still thriving) shopping mall, and the parking lots at this mall were fucking huge. i would usually just walk across them instead of on the sidewalks because taking the sidewalks and pedestrian paths took forever. especially in the winter.

now, i've never been deterred by snow and ice. i've lived in the upper midwest for basically my entire life. i was born and raised in an area that reliably has a snowy winter every single year. i roughed it in idaho and montana when i got sent to bluefire and running winds in my teens. even with an absurd amount of snow and ice on the ground, i thought i would be able to cut across the parking lot to get to work one morning, no problem. and that's called hubris.

and the reason why is because i was scheduled one really early morning after a week off. we'd just had a lot of heavy snowfall, followed by some days of melting and re-freezing. the mall parking lot was surrounded by a fucking wall of snow piles from all the parking spots being cleared by snow plows. i didn't really take this into account when i was getting ready that morning. if i'd been smart, i would've just walked all the way around on the salted and sanded sidewalks, where it was safer. instead, i decided i was going to simply walk over one of these snow piles. one of the 'shorter' ones.

for reference, i am 5ft 7in (170 cm) tall. the shortest snow pile i decided would be acceptable to climb over was probably 10 feet high. the pile itself felt hard as a rock because of the few days of melting followed by the re-freezing. so the outside of it was icy like glass. and for some reason i didn't think twice about climbing it.

in my defense, it had a lot of texture on the outside that made it easy to set my feet and grab onto. the snow at the bottom of the pile was really dense and held my body weight just fine. and then i got to the top, took one step onto this fucking snow pile hill, and sank chest-deep in this fucking mound of sharp, icy snow collapsing under me 💀

and, out loud, i said to myself "oh my fucking god, don't panic, just fucking think, bitch," and very slowly started pulling myself out of the hole. and i thought i was fine because, on my knees, i could crawl around on the top of the snow pile without it feeling unstable. i'd crawled maybe 3 feet to my right before i decided to take a stand again, which is when i fell a second time, again sinking down to my chest in this thing. but then what i did was i really slowly wriggled my body out of this second hole and swallowed my pride and slid down the icy outside of the snow pile like a fucking penguin 💀

the pavement of the parking lot was, thankfully, also covered in really slick, glassy ice. i didn't skin my face. my jeans were completely soaked, though. when i finally got to work, i locked myself in the employee bathroom and ran them under a hand dryer for like 15 minutes straight trying to make them less damp.
