i was working with some freshmen in general chemistry on dimensional analysis and they tried to pull the “when am i ever gonna use this ?!?” on me. like no sorry you need to know what a milligram is. for literally any science or health profession.

#with this stuff im like yea actually i do use this in my daily life #like i do try to make abstract things they learn relatable by talking about my labwork or their future classes but #but like. this is basic fundamental skills u cannot be complaining about this being unusable #they were like ok but a nanogram?! and i was like yes if you want to be a doctor u need to learn what a nanogram is guys #i cant wait when im professor and kids pull the never gonna use this line i always have answers #(note that i do tell students when i think they’re learning something stupid. bc we both get to be frustrated then.)
