hi im the food anon from earlier,, and noooo i didn't mean it in a bad way i was going through your food tag and your tags seemed like you loved eating and trying different things 😖 but honestly yeah you're right, south asian food can be very very spicy (and often its oily too), esp when it doesn't hit you until you've swallowed it and need to drink smth cool immediately djwndjd. have u tried the s.a desserts? also i rlly want to try south-east asian food, where do u think i shud start from?
i rambled hehe ur right i just love food
it’s okay anon!! i’ve tried a lot of south asian desserts but i don’t like any of them 😔 they’re just TOO sweet and heavy and i can’t take it. jalebi is good but i can only eat one bcuz it’s too sweet and oily for me. other desserts tend to be overly creamy and dense and my stomach can’t take that. i’ve noticed that i prefer the french taste with desserts bcuz viet food, especially desserts, are based a lot in french cooking :/
for se asian food, i would definitely suggest you start with viet and thai food.  if you can, i would suggest you eat everything kinda spicy but if you can’t that’s okay!
for viet food, you should try pho (w/out excessively adding all the condiments like every white person does + taste the broth before u add anything).  if you’ve tried pho, try to find places that serve com tam, bun bo hue, bun thit/tom nuong, or hu tieu (these are good starting places to branch out from pho, these are the OTHER basic dishes!). other basics are banh mi and goi cuon but i’d only trust a viet deli/bakery to make them with a cheaper price than served in restaurants (if you do go to a viet deli/bakery, look around and see if u like anything on the tables/refrigerators and try them!). viet desserts that i love all have coconut milk in them, so try che (any type is good) or flan (drenched in sugared coffee, coconut milk, and shaved ice!).
for thai food, start with spicy papaya salad, thai curry, any noodle dish really, and tom yum! some of thai food is similar to viet food, but the spice is very straight up and in your face. for desserts my faves are sticky rice with mango, and coconut ice cream!
there’s so much more to try ;-; so come back and ask me more after you’ve tried all of these.
