Took myself a long needed break from work and coordinator stuff to get back into drawing and “documenting” variants just on the outskirts of Freezepoint where farmlands can be found

And saw this wonderful Highland Tauros

Though mostly found outside of Galar, some of these wonderful cows have been transported into the Galar region supposedly by some guy who wanted it as a pet. You know how it goes with that Pikachu/Eevee situation. They breed too much and get released- anyway

These Highland Tauros shaggy coat helps it survive the cold Scottish winter. Their undercoats keep them warm, while their longer guard hairs protect them from the rain and snow. During the summer they shed most of this hair, to prevent them from overheating.

Highland cows are raised primarily for their meat, which is growing in popularity due to being lower in cholesterol than other forms of beef. These cattle are a hardy breed, designed to withstand the conditions in the Galarian Highlands.

These lovely Tauros also exist in the Isle of Armor but these one are a little more special. You may have noticed the hoops that are a darker shade. These Tauros were specifically bred to have long fur near the ears that can be braided in certain ways.

In the wild, Highland Tauros’ ear fur is naturally much shorter due to the hairs getting snagged on branches and small trees

They are known for being a very docile animal, never showing any aggression and are very low stress to keep and manage. Within their herds they have a great understanding of their own social hierarchy and never fight

These animals have relatively docile temperament and are of good behavior. The cows are pretty good milkers, excellent mothers and very protective of their young. Milk of the cows is of good quality with a high butterfat content. Currently the breed is mainly used for meat production.

-In the wild, Highland Tauros live in herds alongside Milktank and coexist with Pokémon like bird types, the happiny line, and the buneary line

-Wild Highland Tauros can often be found with flowers tied to their long furs with the help of Milktank and Chansey/Blissey to help cover up the scent of mud and dirt clumping to their long fur until they can get to the next body of water

-Highlands often rely on fellow Highlands or other nearby pokemon to groom their long coats

-Bird types can be found plucking at Highlands’ fur at the start of the spring to build their nests with

-Their extended, sedentary lifestyle of domestication, has led to them developing a close bond with nature. They're famous for their long naps, rivaling even the most slothful Snorlax. Daniel grimaced slightly, one side of his mouth pulling to the side in a poor imitation of a crooked grin. “Can’t we just say that I was delirious from too much espresso and forget about it?”

“Hmm.” Nyks ate another macaron while he pretended to think. Daniel slumped in his seat next to him, a quiet sigh escaping his friend. “Maybe. But you have to take a nap with me.”

Evie’s eyes panned down to Daniel’s hand before traveling languidly back up to meet his. “No.”

Daniel didn’t retract his hand. “Come on, Evie, dancing is fun. We always have dancing at my house and the more people moving to the music, the better. You don’t have to be good at it. Just kind of sway along with the counts. Let me teach you a basic waltz.”

If Evie ever betrayed her character to portray normal emotions, Nyks knew that would be a sure sign of the end of the world. Her expression was always carefully bored, and occasionally mildly offended. Daniel was already starting to pout at her refusal, but those eyes didn’t even narrow.

“No,” Evie said again, her lips twitching in an almost smirk, which was far more feeling than she’d give on a typical day. “You’re not getting me to dance. You can teach Bell.”

Daniel changed faces like pulling off a drenched coat. “Evie. Really? Bell knows how to dance."

“You should sleep, girl,” Grimes remarked, swinging down from the roof. She landed in a heap. Grunting, she rearranged her limbs and stood upright with a creak.

Shae watched in fascinated horror as Grimes’ clothes disappeared and reappeared on her frame. “Everyone else has had more practice than I have. I need that more than I need sleep.”

Grimes chuckled, the sound shaking her bones. “You’re lucky I never need sleep and that I’m in such a good mood. What are you working on? Your array looks like it’s for summoning drakis, but I’ll assume I’m mistaken.”

With an effort to look humble, Shae murmured, “You’re not mistaken.”

There wasn’t a lot of expression afforded to a face without muscles, but Shae imagined that Grimes was in between impressed and displeased. She watched as her friend? - surely they were at this point - walk around the array cautiously.

“Well.” Grimes turned back to face her, shaking her false hair into her eye sockets. “That’s ambitious, don’t you think? You just said you needed more practice.”

It would be impossible to tell the difference just from looking at its back end -- you would also need to look very closely at its face and how it walks (Appies have a very distinctive way of walking, but there's no difference at a trot, which is what you see in the video with the dog). Anyway fun horse facts you didn't ask for! But seriously check out Appaloosas, they're adorable.

I am somewhat familiar with the breed but unfortunately have not met any in person and like I said...it's been a fucking minute lmao. My friend in Kansas owned a quarter horse, so not a fancy pants horse, although Poco was a very flashy buckskin in the summer when he was finally done shedding winter coat.
