Respectfully: yes, of course being sex-positive is incredibly important, but you know what's equally important? Being sex-positive without being fucking aphobic. It's not a herculean task at all; I see aspec and allo people alike who are absolutely able to do both successfully. But it does require a bare minimum amount of critical thinking.

You can defend kink at pride without saying or implying that sex is what makes us human, or that sex is a requisite for the "true" queer experience. You can talk about the indescribable value of gay bars without accusing anyone who isn't interested in them of being either a prude, creepy and antisocial, or a "boring virgin." You can stop arguing that any given queer person or group of queer people you dislike (perhaps even within reason) would be more progressive and less reactionary if they had more sex (and yes, this is a real take I've had to see on this website).

You can, and urgently, should stop pretending that sex negativity as a cultural force is caused by ace people — instead of you know, caused by cultural conservativism and cultural Christianity. And on the flip side, you can stop with that thing where you act sex-positive until you see an aroallo person wanting to have sex without a romantic (closed, nuclear) relationship — and suddenly, throwing all sex positivity out the window as you decide that they're a freak and a manipulator and evil incarnate. (Yes, you need to be kinder to even the cisgender heterosexual aromantic men. That particular discourse encapsulates the feedback loop between arophobia and radfem-lite beliefs, by the way, which is another thing the queer community here is horrible at avoiding in its rhetoric.)

So: sex positivity includes aro-spec allosexuals, who need it for precisely the above reason — because alloromantics demonize them otherwise. And sex positivity includes ace-specs who need it just to talk about their experiences, without getting called inappropriate for merely acknowledging sex out loud, let alone their own relationship with sexual desire.

(Have you already forgotten one of the biggest aphobe talking points in 2016? That aces acknowledging their identity in any capacity were "oversharing," and making people "uncomfortable" — and god forbid you ever mentioned asexuality to a minor?)

At its core, sex positivity includes accepting people can have morally neutral relationships with sex that you wouldn't personally want — and maybe even ones that might make you uncomfortable. And so much of this website seems perfectly able to understand this — or at least, preach this — until the second an ace or aro person shows up.

You're not allowed to exclude us from this movement. You're not allowed to twist this movement's intent to put us down. Kill this new wave aphobia in 2023 or so help me. We're not letting this community do this again.

This blog is normally not about Soundwave in places, but about screenshots tiny transformers faces. However, stick around, because this doesn't have to be the end of Soundwave locations.

I came up with this idea on a whim after a discord server I'm in renamed itself to "League of Legends Central" and I realised I hadn't done anything for April fools. I wanted it to be something fun and not upsetting, but in the end the concept ended up being too good to just throw away.

That's why soundwave-location will soon get its own dedicated sideblog! I'm not sure how soon, but I'll announce it here when it's up, and until then this blog will continue accepting Soundwave location reports!

When they arrived at Hell’s kitchen, folks cleared out of the Avatar of Gluttony’s way. Lena barely caught on to the many eyes drawn their way. She was famished and excited for her first dining-out experience in the Devildom.

“Your usual table is read-” Beel whizzed past the waiter, “-y.”

“Uhm, thank you…” Lena awkwardly nodded and quickly followed after the giant. She was afraid of not getting to eat anything on the account that he would clean them out of everything. That’s what Leviathan and Satan had warned them about earlier when they were shopping for room decor.

Speaking of the dev….you know, Satan and Mammon entered the place, causing the rest of the customers to flinch and stare with panic at their state. The blonde had caught a hold of his older brother’s jacket collar and was leading him, in his disheveled glory, to the waiter. There were many words exchanged. And soon, the owner of the establishment arrived with the check they were both after.

The rest of the group had managed to meet up with the more excited ones, filing in quietly, like normal customers. “There you are…” Simeon said, being the first to spot Lena and Beel. She was peeking over at his menu, asking questions about the ingredients.

“Was it really necessary to make a mad dash like that Lena? You’re making us look bad…” Zak looked embarrassed.

Lilly chuckled as she took her usual seat across from Lena. “If you’re worried about images that way, you picked the wrong crowd to hang with.”

“She’s right! These demon brothers are always causing scenes. Usually it’s over being selfish!” Luke added. The little pup took a liking to Zak after some demon started teasing him in the hallway, on the way to their next class. Simeon was busy talking with Solomon and Satan about their homework, so Zak was the only one around to aid him.

When everyone was seated, drinks were served. The group's banter filled the establishment and it felt like a cozy pub in an RPG, as Lena described to Leviathan sitting to her right. The group ordered so much, the owner had to start turning away other patrons.Then walked in the trio. You know, only the most intimidating demons in all of the Devildom.

“Wow! Fancy meeting all of you here!” Lord Diavolo boasted.

Lucifer gave a long sigh and glared at him with the response, “You knew they were all going to be here didn’t you? That’s why you were so insistent on it.”

Both Diavolo and Barbatos deflected Lucifer’s words and began to take a seat at the adjacent table from the large group. Grumpy joined them and the waiter rushed promptly to get their orders. The poor young demon looked so nervous, and who could blame him?

The saying “Time flies by when you’re having fun” was no joke. This band of misfits: demons, humans, angels, and nephilim were having a blast! There were many jokes at one another’s expense, slight bickering, questions about each others’ worlds. It was the exact thing that the exchange program was about. Then came the food.

One waiter brought an actual pyramid of burgers to Beelzebub; his personal platter. Another waiter was in charge of drink refills. It was quite a mess with everyone together; Save for Luke, Lilly, and Lena the rest were freaking giants. It was hard getting food passed around to the 14 people and 1 Beel.

The previously mentioned nervous waiter was now carrying a serving tray towards the Big Three’s table. Just as he made it in front of him, Mammon quickly scooted back without looking as he yelled at Satan about his check again.

The back of the chair smacked right into the poor, unfortunate waiter. It caused him to lose balance and the tray to teeter out of his hands. It was a scene shot in slow-mo like many movies: The plates left the tray, Lucifer’s eyes were so wide, and Diavolo was caught totally off guard.

Before the food could splatter all over the prince, Lena rushed to catch everything. Her secret ability was revealed in an instant: She was fast like a comic hero. But unlike them, she wasn’t the most agile. She did manage to get the tray and get the plates back on, but she stumbled backwards, slipping on Mammon’s dropped napkin.

Her eyes were squinted shut as she braced for impact. It felt...odd. She definitely landed, but there was no hard, cold floor. No broken glass sounds. In fact she knew she still had the tray of food in her head.

When she opened her eyes, Lena saw Diavolo towering over her at an odd angle. The whole place was silent enough to hear a pin needle drop. What the fu…

“Are you okay Lena?” The prince asked.

“I don’t know if I’m being honest with you…” she looked around to see her whole table just gawking at her dumbfoundedly.

Next she took in Lucifer’s bewildered expression, followed by Barbatos. Though, he of course remained the most neutral. What’s the deal?

Then it hit her. Diavolo’s angle. He was over her. No, he was embracing her! The giant of a man had caught her just as quickly as she had caught the food from falling on him. Their current position was probably the reason why everyone was quiet. Well that, and the fact everything happened in a nanosecond.

No, Lena and Diavolo looked like they had just danced one wild tango number and ended on a dramatic dip. It was hot. Or would have been without the fucking tray of burgers and fries. Sorry, DEMON burgers and fries. For someone as stark white as she was, Lena turned red like a lobster. Diavolo even had a tiny blush that only she could see from her proximity.

“MAAAMMMOOOOOOOONNN!!!” Lucifer closed the silence with his deep, booming voice. Everyone either laughed, took pictures, or hid their faces in embarrassment as the eldest brothers made a wild game of “TAG! You’re Fucking Dead!!!”

It was a good thing too. Well, not for Mammon of course. In that moment, Barbatos assisted Lena, by taking the tray. Diavolo raised her carefully to stand back onto her feet.

“Thank you, for saving dinner and my uniform.” Diavolo chuckled.

Lena gave a sheepish smile, “And thank you for saving my uniform, and the bill for the table I would have broken.”

The rest of dinner went off without a hitch. They laughed at the pictures they managed to capture. Lilly questioned Lena about what happened and she explained to everyone that nephilim are extremely fast. They also each had an ability unique to themselves. Though she and her brothers teased the rest of the group by not telling them what those abilities were.

“Well, it looks like both Lucifer and Mammon aren’t coming back,” Azri said, taking Lucifer’s seat. He was tired of having a sleeping Belphegor trying to use his shoulder as a pillow to drool on. “I’ll box his up for one of them to take back.”

“That’s generous of you.” Barbatos replied, giving a small hint of a smile.

Azri chuckled, “It is, especially after hearing that he put my darling sister in a filthy attic with no amenities…” That didn’t go past big brother Azri. “If I may, can I skip class tomorrow in order to fix things up for her?”

Barbatos and Diavolo exchanged looks before glancing over at Lena, who had moved seats to take funny pictures with and of the sleeping Belphegor.

“I know you’re wondering why I don’t just let her do it.” Azri continued, “Something happened with her not long before she finally agreed to come here. Obviously we’re a year late to the program. I don’t want to dish out her personal stuff, but I want to do something nice for her.” He finished packing Lucifer’s dinner and added, “I also can’t stand the thought of her sleeping in a room filled with cobwebs! And I know she will do a half-ass job at cleaning it herself!”

That made Diavolo chuckle and he compared the eldest nephilim to Barbatos.

“I am not that bad, Lord Diavolo. It’s my job to ensure you're catered to and well taken care of. A prince can’t live in dirty quarters…” Barbatos responded. Although he held a smile, Azriel could see the fury in his eyes. It made him chuckle.

“Le, stop that! You’ll get in trouble….again!” Zak scolded, though unable to keep from laughing. Lena was holding her phone so it looked like she was petting Belphegor’s head like a puppy while he slept.

“He looks so cute though!!!” she stuck her tongue out at her brother.

Luke sighed, “It seems that you’re as bad as Asmo…”

“I wonder…” Asmo replied teasingly, before winking and giving Lena a kissy face from across the table. She chuckled and playfully returned the kiss.

“What does that even mean?” Luke asked innocently. It caught Zak off guard. He wasn’t used to being around innocent kiddos like him. Simeon intervened, however, much to the nephilim’s relief. He wasn’t sure why the kid followed him around so much.

When the group was finished with their meal, Diavolo picked up the check. He and Barbatos headed out first because they had a busy schedule ahead of them the next day. “Good night everyone!” he chuckled and waved.Several of them returned the wave and thanked him. Lena couldn’t help but blush a little when their eyes met briefly.

“Mmmh-hmmm, I saw that.” Lilly whispered, giving a mischievous grin at the nephilim.

Lena shot the human a look, “What are you even talking about?”

“Oh I saw it too Lilly. I feel a little jealous now.” Asmodeus joined in. He puffed out his bottom lip, fake pouting at Lena.

“Oh fuck off. The both of you…” she grumbled, still blushing.

The group eventually had to split off into those who would go to Purgatory Hall and those that resided in The House of Lamentation. Before they did, Zak hugged Lena and told her good night. Azriel did the same, but revealed something that annoyed her.

“Lilly, let me crash on your sofa tonight please.” She gritted as they entered the house.

Asmo pouted, “But why Darling? I thought you liked snuggling with me…”

Lena sighed and nodded, “I actually do, Asmo. It’s just that I don’t want your pretty room to be engulfed in flames in the morning…”

The group stared at the nephilim with shock and worry. Well, Belphegor didn’t because he was passed-out and being carried off to bed by a sulking Beel, who wasn’t full.

“Azri got permission to skip school tomorrow in order to remodel my bedroom.” Lena sighed, “It is absolutely sweet of him, but anything design-related...well you saw him shopping today. He goes fucking nuts. I bet he will rush in before sunrise to start.”

Lilly scratched her head. “And what about the flames?”

“Well, we’ve not known each other long enough for him to feel it appropriate that I share a bed with someone in this house...even though it’s clearly none of his fucking business. I’m a grown ass woman.”

“Yeah you are!” Lilly chimed.

“If it’s none of his business, then why the concern?” It was Satan who asked this time.

“He’s already going to be in his weird-ass mood, so the shock and insinuation would cause him to snap. It’s happened more times than I can count.” Lena sulked and shook her head.

“OOOH! So then maybe Azriel’s unique ability is pyrokinetics then?” Leviathan asked with excitement, “Like El Lumino from the Revengers comic! He gets mad and accidentally burns things like Mrs. Magnificent hover jet in The New Revengers Vol 13, issue 42: El Lumino’s Ultra Bad Day!”

Lena hesitated, but eventually nodded. “Yeah. That’s like him alright. Now, don’t get me wrong. He is progressive. He’s a chill brother, who is the most responsible one of us. It’s just when “Crazy Azri” comes out, he is too unpredictable to take any chances. If ‘overprotective brother mode’ is activated, all bets are off.” It was really embarrassing.

“He did look pretty intense back at Majolish.” Lilly nodded, remembering his trance. “But then again, I recall someone else acting like a total zombie…” She and the brothers laughed at Lena.

“Ha ha. Very funny...oh wait! The clothes!!!!” Lena zoomed up the stairs. To the others, she simply blinked out of existence.

“She’s...gone?” Satan pondered.

“Don’t underestimate the power of fashion, Satan.” Asmo chuckled, “She’s probably swimming through all of those bags in her room…”

The brothers decided to all split up for the night, returning to their own rooms. Each one of them had a small bag from Majolish hanging on their door knobs; a gift from Lena for “putting up with her during the exchange program”. They each had a tie that matched their aesthetic. Of course Satan’s was a bow tie and Asmo had a pretty Lolita-style cravat.

Lilly took both Lucifer’s and Mammon’s dinners to their rooms. Neither one had made it back, which meant it might be a couple of days before they’d get to see Mammon again. Ouch!

When she went to her room, she found Lena sitting on her couch in her pajamas with a new pillow and Hell-o Kitty blanket she’d bought on that landmark shopping trip. She had a slightly revealing tank with a skull made out of flowers and booty shorts on. Lilly bit her lip and marched straight to her bed. Why?! She asked herself. Well, they were in hell and this had to be her personal torture lingering around her room in sexy nightwear. Well anything would look sexy on Lena.

Also tomorrow we are going to study the people’s habits about the floods and the trash. On October 3rd, the group will record the dance practice videos of both their title and sibling song. The video for ‘Ticket’ will be released on October 8th, while the one for ‘Ladies’ will come out on October 15th.

To help with promotions, the members will be sent out to a few radio shows. On October 7th, they’ll go to the Cultwo Show as a full group. On October 8th, they’ll make their return to Volume Up but only featuring Chojin, Kil, Mona, and Sejeong. Mona will then go by herself to Kiss The Radio on October 14th. She’ll not be the only guest of the day’s show.

Due to the female MC not being present for the Music Bank episode of the 25th, KBS will reach out to TRC and offer Kil a spot as the fill-in MC for the day only. She’ll do everything an MC would normally do, including the introducing and interview segments, as well as saying some of the last few words of the show.

2019-2020 ISU Junior program requirements and season discussion

This post should really be coming after Junior Worlds but in continuity with last year’s post, it’s appearing on February 1. This is a long post, since it’s got some observations and belated realizations, so it’s going under the cut. This is really just a long blog post, so it also has no tags.

The junior short and free program requirements for singles skaters were laid out in the ISU’s Special Regulations and Technical Rules 2018 pp. 104-111 (the file name says 2016 but that’s an error). Of course, there are many more pages in that document with detailed information but for the purposes of our discussion here we really only need to focus on pages 105, 106, 109.

First up, the SP requirements (pp. 105-106).

I have watched Stephen for some time now but I am still slow to realize things, especially in the hasty posts made after competitions. I had wondered after 2018 Minto Summer Skate about the 3Lo in the FS, and why that had not been replaced by a higher BV 3F. It was likely in anticipation for the 2019-20 season. Stephen has gotten a lot of practice doing his 3Lo at the very end of a free skate this season. That should be quite helpful for the SPs next season.

In the 2016-2017, when Stephen skated as a junior in Canada, the required solo jump was a 3Lo. He also got a lot of practice landing it that season, and I think it helped him with being consistent with it in the following seasons. I went back to check his protocols from that season onwards. He’s had falls on the 3Lo at 2016 Summer Skate (SP) and 2017 Bavarian Open (FS). Apart from that it’s been a good jump for him, and he has even used the 3Lo to do Euler combos when earlier planned combos with 3Lz or 3F jumps in the FS did not work out. Even in the turbulent FS at JGP Canada he managed to land it.

When was the last time Stephen did a flying sit spin (FSSp)? That would be in the FS at 2017 Bavarian Open. He also did one in the FS at 2016 Coupe du Printemps. That event was also the last time Stephen did a change foot camel spin (CCSp), in the SP. In the 2015-16 season, when Stephen skated at the novice level in Canada, his SP featured a CCSp and his FS featured a FSSp. This was also the case in pre-novice, the season before. So he has at least two season’s worth of experience doing these spins.

The rest of the requirements are the same as the 2018-19 season.

It may be though that Stephen changes his SP layout for senior events. He may decide to change the solo 3Lz to a 4T. He skated a clean SP at Nationals but did not score 90+ points. If he puts in a 4T and skates cleanly then it would be harder to deny him a better score.

As for the FS requirements, they are also the same (p 109).

Just reading over last season’s FS discussion I realized everything unfolded as I had thought it would. So what about next season?

One thing I’ve come to realize late this season is that Stephen has been adding one quad per season to his programs with an almost predictable outcome. He has at least one event where he cleanly lands his new quad. The other attempts result in pops or falls. But by the next season he is more consistent with this new quad.

In 2016-17 he debuted his 4S. It was landed cleanly at 2017 Sectionals, and with a UR (and other unknown difficulties) at 2017 Bavarian Open. In the 2017-18 season he had upgraded it to a 4S3T - a combo he is using now as well. He also used it as a solo 4S but had some mixed results.

In 2017-18 he debuted his 4T. It was landed cleanly at 2018 Challenge. He is using it in his FS in the 2018-19 season and it’s been a good jump for him. He’s only popped it to a 3T at 2019 Sectionals. Actually the 4T has been his most reliable quad this season.

This season he debuted his 4Lz, though he had been attempting to debut it at 2018 Nationals. He’s landed it cleanly at 2018 JGP Bratislava. This season is not yet over so we don’t have a final conclusion about its success rate. However you can see the pattern unfolding now for three seasons.

So next season you should expect the three quads in the FS. The two triple Axels, one in combination with a 2T or 3T - depending on how his quad combination went. Expect the same FS jump content with maybe one exception.

That would be his next quad. Stephen hasn’t given an absolute answer about new quad plans, but in his Skate Canada interview after 2018-19 JGPF he did indicate that he may add another quad next season. In light of the fact that the solo jump for next season is the 3Lo I would have to guess that if he is adding a new quad next season it will be the 4F. He’s been practicing it for a while - Pirouette Magazine reported on him working on the 4F in harness back in the summer of 2016. We also have a video of him landing one. In general Stephen does not rush to add quads to his programs, and that is commendable.

Where would this quad go? His jump layout would have to change to accomodate it. The final 3Lo could be switched to a solo 3A, the 3A3T moved down one spot, and the 4F could take its place. So Stephen would start off with four quads, one in combination. When the men did eight jumping passes Stephen’s last jump used to be a 2A so this would be somewhat of a return to that. But this is all hypothetical.

Does Stephen even need all these quads? If you asked him he would definitely say yes. :) In juniors there are not many men doing harder quads beyond 4T or 4S. However, Stephen doesn’t just compete as a junior. He is a senior man within Canada, and the top senior men in Canada mostly all have 4T and/or 4S. Keegan Messing has a 4Lz as well. Some of these men are capable of landing harder quads, but haven’t yet added them into their programs. Stephen will be skating as a senior internationally soon enough. The time spent as a junior is preparation for the senior level, so it’s better for him to try out quads at this level when there aren’t things like Worlds or Olympics spots on the line. He just really needs to take care not to injure himself.

As for music - Stephen is due for a new SP, having held over his SP for a second season. That decision was wise because he was able to better skate his SP in his second season of using it. Though some skaters do use their SPs for three seasons it’s unlikely that Stephen will do that. This is because he will likely use his new SP in the 2020-21 season in which he may be debuting as a senior and will once again need to have clean SPs. It will have to be seen if he keeps his long time SP choreographer (Mary Angela Larmer) or tries a new choreographer.

The FS he will likely keep. Especially if he is adding in a new quad. A familiar FS when trying out new jumps is almost a necessity, and he’s done this before with his Magic Flute FS. Though a new FS would also be very welcome. We’re always down to see new programs from Stephen.

He may also get a new exhibition program. Before seeing it I thought his EX for this season may be a test run for a new SP, but ‘Stole the Show’ is too much of an exhibition program to be turned into an SP. Sam Chouinard quite likes Stephen and created a nice EX for him so I hope they can continue to work together.

I believe he will be sent to the first JGP, since he won gold at the first one this season. I also believe he will not be sent to either JGP #2 or #4. Latvia, Poland, and Croatia would be more suitable places to compete, though Stephen may wish to compete in Russia in which case he could do JGP #4. The final JGP would be a long wait for Stephen if he did the first and so I don’t believe he will be assigned there. Last season the initial Canadian JGP assignments came out in July so hopefully we will not have to wait long to find out where Stephen will compete.

Next season the 2020 Youth Olympic Games are also taking place in Lausanne, Switzerland. The spots for that event will be decided in part by the results of the 2019 Junior World Figure Skating Championships. It would be an excellent opportunity for Stephen to get some Olympics experience if he were chosen to go. However the 2020 YOG are conflicting with 2020 Nationals. It is currently not known if Skate Canada will opt out of sending athletes (as was the case in 2012). I expect to get clarification on this matter as the year progresses.

There is also one last thing to discuss, though it shouldn't be necessary for me to discuss this, honestly. That is the expected growth spurt. I am not sure why puberty has been made out to be a boogeyman for young skaters. It's a normal part of everyone's life. Yes, it affects athletes in major ways. But it's not like it is something that can be avoided nor is it something destructive. Like jet lag or flight delays it is just a part of life and skaters learn to deal with it. Coaches have discussed the resulting benefits: male skaters gain strength in their skating after they grow. So those quads become bigger and it's easier to do a powerful step sequence across the ice. Stephen should not be afraid to grow. I hope the adults in his life have helped him understand this and will be there to support him as he adjusts. We’ll be here cheering him on as usual. There is no fixed schedule for these things, but since mean spirited people like to hold puberty over young skaters’ heads I thought I should address that nonsense somewhere.

What should you expect from Stephen after 2019 Junior Worlds? Nothing. He may be invited to some ice shows if he’s willing to do them but otherwise don’t even expect him to be part of Cricket Club’s annual ice show. He will have to get new choreography so he will devote part of his time to that. He should begin his 2019-20 season at 2019 Minto Summer Skate. This year’s event is once again at Richcraft Sensplex in Ottawa, running July 25-28, 2019 (x). Though Stephen competes as a senior in Canada, for summer events he has to skate as a junior as part of Skate Canada’s JGP monitoring. The Fan Blog will keep you posted on whatever is happening. Just don’t be alarmed if Stephen falls off the radar for a few months - it happens annually.

Last week, not only did Japanese boy band Hey!Say!JUMP meet with their Hong Kong fans, they also performed at the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade for “The Music Day”, which was broadcasted live via satellite.  For those who were able to watch Hey!Say!JUMP, it must have been like a dream since it is pretty rare to get that up-close and personal with their idols, it is a .... memory that will last a lifetime!  For those of us in the media, we were lucky to be able to interview them prior to these events, where we talked about their previous visits to Hong Kong and their take on their fellow members’ charm.  So fans, please take a look!

Q: Yamada and Arioka visited Hong Kong when they filmed “Kindaichi no Shounen no Jikenbo” and stayed for about a week. Where did you go last time and what were your impressions of Hong Kong?

Yamada: Actually we were so busy filming, we didn’t really go anywhere.  What did we do...

Arioka: Oh, we ate some pretty special stuff.

Yamada: Right! Since we had to shoot some promotions, we went to this place where they sold foods that were very rare in Japan; like we ate ducks feet, frogs, bugs, etc... weird stuff. We also rode a double decker bus, which we had never done before in Japan, so it was pretty fun.

Q: On this return trip to Hong Kong, if you had the time, where would you like to go?

Arioka: Probably the Avenue of Stars; there are many statues of famous people, so I want to see them.

Takaki: Oh, “Monster Building”!

Yabu: We want to check out the area known as “Monster Building” in Quarry Bay.  There are so many buildings concentrated in one area, which you don’t see in Japan; it is so impressive.

Q: When you last visited Hong Kong, you used Cantonese to sing parts of “Thank you~Boku tachi kara kimi e (From us to you)”, which was very memorable.  If you have the chance, will you sing in Cantonese for the Hong Kong fans again?

Everyone: Of course! We will definitely take on the challenge.  Hopefully we can sing even more in Cantonese for you guys!

Q: Most members have done filming in other countries. What are the differences between foreign and Japanese filming?

Yamada: I guess the Japanese and foreign staff have different working styles. Also, it is hard to talk about fans, which is the opposite when shooting in a foreign location.

Arioka: One time, I was filming a variety show overseas and they were shooting with all sorts of drones, which was pretty cool since I don’t get to see that much in Japan.

Q: Inoo just turned 28 on June 22nd. How did the members celebrate your birthday?

Inoo: Arioka gave me a present, which as you all know, is the model of Thano’s infinity glove from Avengers 3.  Also, we were doing a shoot on that day, so we ate birthday cake together (laughs).

Q: Okamoto is going to study in the US soon, so will the members send him off at the airport or visit him there?

Everyone: If the schedule permits, of course we will send him off!

Nakajima: While I do want to go there to visit him, but I probably want to go to NYC for vacation even more! Hahahahaha!!!!

[Aside: In another news article, the reporter said Yamada said that. Kind of hard to imagine mixing the two up, but since Like Japan is a very Japanese entertainment focused site, I will trust them more.]

Q: Pick a member and tell us his charms!

Inoo: Let’s start with me and I will tell you about Chinen’s charms! How does everyone see Chinen? Very cute, right?  But he is not just cute, when he takes off his clothes, he is a hot guy with lots of muscles!  He get his muscles through his gymnastics training, so if you, friends from overseas, see his muscular body, you will be shocked. This is Chinen’s charm. (Laughs)

[Aside: Inoo said “special skills training”.  I assumed it is gymnastics.]

Chinen: Look over here, isn’t this a beautiful face? Just this face alone has captivated all sorts of Japanese women, but he actually has great leadership skills; he always manage to lead us to the next stage. Beautiful, cool, and strong; this is Yamada Ryosuke.

Yamada: Yeah, I have tried so hard to find some strengths of Daichan, but there is nothing (laughs). Of course that’s not true! Daichan, how should I say it, I think everyone knows this, but nobody can hate on this guy. He attracts people and everyone automatically likes him. No matter if it’s Hong Kong or somewhere else, he is just well loved. Also, during the live concerts, not only does he sing, he is also the DJ and rapper, etc... he has so many talents.  Being able to show all these different sides (to show the gap) is probably Daichan’s charm.  So everybody, please appreciate him properly.

Arioka: In Hey!Say!JUMP, Yaotome is someone who knows how to make you laugh and liven up the atmosphere. In the performances, not only can he sing and dance, he can also mimic others, like when he pretended to be Jim Carey, his face was so ridiculously good; in any case, he is always able to show us many faces. That said, there are times when he is kinda silly and kinda dazed; I think this is also part of his charm.

Yaotome: Yuto? Well, he is the tallest in Hey!Say!JUMP and has a model’s build, so he is really fashionable.  Also, we have a band and Yuto plays the drums; he is very good.  I think these are 2 of his charm points.

Yuto: Keito is one of the rare Johnny’s who is good at languages. Even though he will leave us temporarily to improve his linguistic skills overseas, we respect [his decision] and are waiting for his return.  Keito is very gentle, probably the most gentle in the group.  Yesterday, on the plane, I was trying to read but it was dark and I didn’t know where the light switch was.  Keito noticed and came over immediately to tell me how to turn it on.  Even though it’s a little thing, you can see that he is very observant and gentle.

Okamoto: Those who are reading this article, please imagine this: if [I tell you] there’s a cool guy with a beautiful body and a sexy voice, what kind of man do you picture? (Nakajima: No, no, this person can’t possibly exist, right?)  Well, this person is in Hey!Say!JUMP!  (Everyone: What?!) That is Takaki Yuya!!! Please check out his stuff, Check it out!

Takaki: Right, Yabu-kun is the eldest in the group. Wait, we are the same age (laughs). He is a very reliable person; no matter what it is, you can talk to him. Not only will he listen to my thoughts, he will also give me suggestions, so he is someone who really makes you feel comfortable.

Yabu: Inoo has many different sides.  Normally, he seems a bit carefree and flippant, and you don’t really understand him, but he is actually an honour student who graduated from the architectural program at Meiji University.  He even has the professional designation. (Inoo: I don’t have it.)  Hahahaha, he is very smart.

Week #1

I thought about starting this with something cheesy like “G’day mates” but I can’t get myself to, so I’ll start with this. Oh my goodness. This week has flown by. Literally because I was on airplanes for 20.5 hours and crossed the international date line so I skipped an entire day. When I arrived in Brisbane I had to lug around a huge 50 pound bag, a 30 pound backpack, a I don’t know how many pounds carry on backpack, and a camera bag. I met with the group (ISA is the program I’m going through that hosts an orientation,) and we headed to Byron Bay. Upon arrival we then had to carry those bags on a 10 minute walk through the city streets to get to the hostel. I felt like I had done a work out the next day. After dinner that day, some friends and I went out for a drink in order to stay awake past 7 to get on a normal sleep schedule. I got my first legal drink because drinking age is 18 and it was delicious. (Sorry Joyce, I know I told you I’d only write what grandmas want to hear.) We immediately went to bed after the one drink and all woke up a 3 am and laid in bed pretending to sleep so we didn’t wake each other up even though we were ALL up. (The we in that story is the 7 girls in the same room with me. As you can imagine it got quite messy with each of us digging through our large bags trying to find anything.)

Enough about that though you’re probably wondering what I did all week besides drag 5,000 pounds of luggage across the state of Queensland. The day after we arrived in Byron Bay we hiked near the light house and watched the sunrise. It was pretty cloudy but you could still see rays of pink poking through and it was beautiful. (I’ll be posting pictures soon, but the WiFi here is HORRIBLE. Apparently the government got scammed? Google it, all of Australia has horrible internet.) After the sunrise we had surf lessons. Not to brag or anything but I got up on my first try and the instructor told me I was a natural, so basically I’m a pro. I’m definitely going to make the bus trip to Surfer’s Paradise and go surfing some more.

The next day we went on an organic farm tour and got to plant lettuce. Also, did I mention there were puppies? There were 8 puppies that were like 4 weeks old and I just about cried. Don’t worry the pictures of THAT are coming soon too. After the tour we went to a brewery for lunch and everyone was upset that we didn’t get any beer because we’re not allowed to drink on ISA outtings. (Don’t worry Joyce.) Later we went on a bush walk with “Cockatoo Paul,” who if you read Allison’s blog, is a bit crazy and has a pet cockatoo named Pickles. He taught us about the different plants in Australia and showed us some to eat. As great as that information is, I don’t think I’ll be attempting to eat any plants on my own any time soon. Once the bush walk was over we returned to the organic farm and met with an Aboriginal man. He told us stories about his culture, his life, and a little history. He played the digeridoo, showed us a story painting he made with his uncle, and taught us a dance. It was so cool to get to learn more about the culture of Australia that isn’t seen as often anymore. (Roughly 2.5% of the Australian population is Aboriginal.) Later that night, the whole gang went to a gig at The Northern to see The Chats since it was our last night. Unfortunately I had to miss the encore because I had to get up at 5 am the next day to pack and get ready. Ya girl needs her beauty sleep and boy she got none this week let me tell you.

Friday we left at 7:30 in the morning on the trek back to Brisbane to say goodbye to the other ISA students that were flying to other cities. Of course this wasn’t without a pitstop. We made a little detour to the Currumbin Wild Life Sanctuary. I’ve been there before when we went and visited Allison and it’s just as amazing as it was that time. My friends and I made a beeline for the kangaroos obviously. Who wouldn’t want to spend as much time as possible petting and feeding kangaroos while also getting a sick selfie in the process? We also saw a salty (salt water croc) and now I have no plans to go up north as cool as that would be.

After dropping everyone off at the airport we went to campus, but that’s a whole story and this blog is already WAY too long sorry. I’ll write about that more later. I’m late for dinner with my neighbors.

SOON.....ON THE ROAD AGAIN

The itch has begun. To leave/escape my home. Now that I have my first shot, I know the end of quarantine is near.

I had to wait 2 months. Signed up twice at 2 different places. Still took an eternity to be called. I qualified with the first batch of eligibles at 85.

I received my first shot 2/27. My second is scheduled for 3/27. I waited roughly 2 months for the first shot on 2/27.

A process involved finally caught up with me today. I received a telephone call. From a pleasant lady who was calling on behalf of the State to schedule my first appointment.

We are taught from day 1 in school that Columbus discovered America. The year also, 1492. Both facts never forgotten.
