I want to lay out a key point that I believe is essential for understanding this part of the catchphrase: "Everyone can be him (Hero X)!" mostly because I think there's a good chance people may not have explicitly caught this.

Hero X is a title, not specific to the actual hero; it's used to refer to the no. 1 position.

I think most people who have seen the recent (non-character specific) PVs already aware of this to some extent, but I want to highlight the evidence.

It's said outright in PV3: 英雄有很多，但能问鼎X的却只有一个。(EN subtitles: There are many heroes, but only one can win the title of X.)

The characters that got translated to title here are 问鼎, which means more like... aiming for first place in a competition, or aspiring for the throne.

The best support for this is from the JP website (which states it in EN as well!) under two hero profiles:

Hero X:

in EN: "A man in a suit who claimed the title of X"

in JP: 「Xの座に上り詰めたスーツマン」

Dragon Boy:

in EN: "...to take the title of X"

in JP: 「Xのタイトル奪取を狙う」

Note: I swear they've updated at least Queen's profile (I don't have proof of this unfortunately since I never thought to archive the text, but I can say if only for myself that the comment about her being a solitary queen was removed sometime in the last 2 months, based on a previous post). There's a chance this might get edited too, but until then, I will be working with this information.

Edit: Strikethrough on the note about Queen, the text I'm thinking of was in Japanese. I still think something may have been edited, because I swear some of the text formatting looks different? I may be wrong. My apologies for any misinformation or mistranslations, that's not my intention.

In Japanese, 2 words are used that get translated to "title"; with Hero X, it was 座 (means seat/position), and with Dragon Boy, it was タイトル (lit. title). This nuance isn't that important, but the implications of it are.

Quite literally, anyone can be X, assuming as long as you ascend to the top of the ranks. Moreover, this implies that X is unlike other heroes who have hero names based on who they are/their pick, rather than an inherited one. (Nice is a special case, but I'll get to that another day.)

So if Queen wins the tournament, for example, she would be considered the next Hero X. This is does not mean the next number 2 hero would be called Queen; this is only applicable to whoever is first in the ranks.

Buddy Daddies PV2 and PV3 theories (PART 2)

Next up I'll speculate waaay more given that there's not a lot of images to makes coherent connections from. I'll start by the first new image we see of PV 3:

Apparently in this scene Miri is talking to Rei (I really need subtitles to tie this up better). And I have a theory for this: secret birthday party.

Now, I know it sounds a little far fetched, but I swear it makes sense. Hear me out, on the second PV we saw this scene of Miri with a birthday hat and decorations in the background:

And you're probably wondering, but who's birthday party? Well, it could be either Rei's of Kazuki's (not Miri since her birthday is in November and I don't think we would go through such a big time jump).

We don't know when Rei's birthday is, but we do know when Kazuki's is and the dates actually make some sense considering that it's been a few months and, if the episode where is raining comes first, it makes even more sense chronologically speaking. Kazuki's birthday, as seen in episode 4 (if it's his real birthday since they faked documents) is in May 16.

(sorry, I couldn't get the picture in english, but what matters is the date inside the red circle).

Now, this scene of Miri pouting is connected to this other scene of Kazuki looking worried:

And worried for who? Excellent question, I'll give you the answer: Rei. In this part of the PV Miri says "Rei papa seems very lonely" and we proceed to see this scene of Rei:

He is in someone else's car because the seats look different to his and Kazuki's car.

In that scene of Rei in the unknown car someone asks him "why do you kill?" to which he answers "it's my job".

So my theory is that either that's a flashback of the mission before he betrayed his previous organization (probably his father), because remember this dialogue from episode 5:

In the second and third PV we see brief action scenes of Rei fighting this guy:

And who is this guy? I'm pretty sure it's Rei's brother, just look at the marks underneath his eyes and the hairstyle, also in the third PV he mentions the word "father". So either he was send to kill Rei or this is a flashback of the betrayal (which I highly doubt to be honest).

I'm leaning more to this scene of Rei against his maybe brother being in the same episode of the party. I think that Rei is going to leave mid party, making Kazuki worried and Miri disappointed and saying that he seems lonely.

What confuses me the most is this next scene:

Kazuki is under the rain, dirty and looking super gloomy. The confusing part is that he's wearing the same shirt as in the party with Miri. So either he gets involved in the whole Rei vs family situation, or my theory is completely wrong and it's two different episodes lmao.

Honestly me being wrong is very likely. There still seven episodes to go and this brief scenes probably don't even scratch the surface of what will happen. In the end we'll just have to wait, see and probably cry because the angst is coming.

“Son of the Sky”

Here is my Merlin piece to go along with the very green one I did at the start of July. (Although I kind of want to redo that one to match this one more.)

I drew inspiration from, of course, the sky, merlins, a headpiece I really like in FFXIV, and Arleebean from YouTube and Instagram’s no yellow limited color palette. (Although the PBr7 I chose was raw sienna which is yellowish.) I used my White Nights Indigo (PBk7, PB15, PV3), English Red (PR101), Raw Sienna (PBr7), Cobalt Blue (PB28), and Madder Lake Red Light (PR187). I also used some Kuretake Starry Colors since I’ve been missing the sparkle.

So from Scramble PV3 we know there's going to be a hot spring thing like in P3 and P4. Knowing how those usually go I can safely bet a few things: 1) Peeping on the girls will be Ryuji's fault. 2) There's probably no way to avoid Ryuji getting punished even if you successfully escape. Well the good thing is that it can't get worse than P4's hot spring episode.

Yeah I saw that scene in the PV and felt my eyes roll so hard they almost dislodged from my skull.

I don't have much of a comment to say because that they are doing it is awful and I hate it and wish they would stop forcing disgustingly creepy things like this on the boys.

When the Ryuji Character trailer asked what kind of Ryuji fans wanted to see, Foolish, Mischievous or Cool, Cool won hands down by a massive margin. Can they not get that their fans aren't interested in seeing the boys being jerks, being beat up, but actually want to see them be cool?

I doubt Ryuji is solely to blame, the trailer seems to position all four as culpable, but I certainly wouldn't put it past the game too, for ‘comedy’, decide that everyone but Ryuji gets off scot-free.

I just hate that scene so much I hope it turns out to be enormously misleading and the boys are actually just trying to stealthily sneak out so they can see a late screening of the Cake Knight Rises together.

Shit that I noticed while watching LettuceSauce’s English subbed PV3 for P5R:

The only character whose dialogue seems to be placed in specific and explicit context is Haru at 0:55.

This seems to be on the same staircase the Thieves are seen running up in the new palace before turning around to face someone. From the way the scenes interspersed throughout PV 2 are framed, they appear to be facing an antagonistic Kasumi who is suddenly turning on the group.

Haru’s line in PV3 is immediately followed by some of Kasumi’s most negative thoughts expressed in the trailers so far: “Nothing changes.” “There’s no place for me to stay.” Cut to her shoes on the floor of the new palace, in that same sterile white room that seems to be where the stairs are, then another cut to Akira and Goro covering their faces with an arm to defend against a sudden wind, which is filtered through a blue-white light (and blue and white are Cendrillon’s colors).

It’s such a WEIRD place to have those lines, considering that’s immediately followed by Kasumi saving Joker (we can assume, based on previous shots in PV2 of Kasumi saving Joker) in that hallway in Sae’s palace - establishing her as already accepted as a Phantom Thief.

During the previous scene, Cendrillon addresses Kasumi, but she doesn’t speak like any other persona in the game. All of the other primary personas use extremely archaic pronouns in Japanese (ware wa nanji, nanji wa ware, always translated as I am thou, thou art I), but Sophia says, Watashi wa anata, which is much more clearly, I am you. (Thanks @softspokensansa for pointing this one out) - indicating that Cendrillon is not, in fact, a normal persona, which we’ve all suspected all along.

If you are wondering what is Dream Festival!, here is an introduction to them, as well as the reason for the signature campaign. (TL;DR at the end)

What is “Dream Festival!”?

Dream Festival is a 5D (2D + 3D) multimedia project in collaboration with Bandai Namco Pictures, Bandai, Lantis, Amuse, Bandai Channel, Bandai Namco Entertainment and Banpresto. The project began on October 29, 2015 with the release of a PV for a song called Glory Story. During the course of the project it has released several CDs, BDs, a Documentary on the project, a mobile game, an arcade game, a radio program, and a live show entitled, “Dream Festival! Laboratory”. 

Dream Festival consists of two major groups namely DearDream and Kurofune.

Who are DearDream ?

DearDream is a 5 member unit that consists of:

Oikawa Shin (C.V. Mizogucchi Takuya) (Leader)

Sasaki Junya (C.V. Tomita Kentaro)

So why the signature campaign?

On March 4, 2018, 12:00 P.M. JST, it was announced that the mobile game, Dream Festival! R, and the arcade game, Data Carddass Dream Festival! , will be shutting down on May 1, 2018, 2:00 P.M. JST and March 30, 2018 respectively. Also announced was a special broadcast on the same day at 8:00 P.M. JST, which contained the announcement of the disbandment of both DearDream and KUROFUNE.

Aside from the disbandment announcement, they also announced the release of the DVD / BD of both Battle Live and the 1st Live Tour, the announcement of DearDream’s 2nd album as well as KUROFUNE’s 3rd single and lastly a last live with both DearDream and KUROFUNE as headlining acts at BUDOKAN.

This signature campaign was started to rally support from fans that do not want this project to end. 

Aside from the signature campaign, other things that have happened so far:

A Hatena Blog topic was created entitled,  「私と『ドリフェス！』」 (Dorifesu and me). (here)

A campaign to make Real Dream! chart on iTunes. The song reached number 18 on the sales chart (screenshot here)

The hashtag  #ドリフェスと叶えたい夢 (Dorifesu and the dream I want to fulfill)
